This was my family's first time at Sweet Rice. The exceptional service began when we walked in the door as a waiter, Josh, cheerfully greeted us. Josh promptly came to our table and took our drink orders. Within just a couple of minutes we had our drinks and were able to order our dinners. Josh's great service continued throughout our visit. He checked on us regularly and made sure we had everything we needed -- always with a huge smile on his face and kindness in his voice. My husband ordered the pad see ew with tofu. The flavor was delicious and there was enough to share. I ordered the pineapple curry with tofu. I ordered a spice level 0 and it came out perfect for me --- with just a little spice. The size of my curry filled me and had so much still to take home to enjoy tomorrow. (SCORE!!) Our daughter ordered the fried chicken wings. She has a very strict medical diet and we were thrilled that they were able to accommodate her. First, this place is ridiculously expensive and it lacks the robust flavor of other Thai places. $10.99 for Tom Yum soup???? I just ordered the Pad Thai and it had NO flavor whatsoever!!! I've also tried a few other dishes here and they were subpar at best. I only go here because it's the only Thai place in the area and I can't get to a better one. First time in, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I got the basil fried rice with shrimp (which I LOVED), H got the basil fried rice w/chicken and egg (liked, but said the seasoning was a bit too sweet for him), and DD got the drunken noodles with rice noodles since she's gluten free (which she didn't love, but we probably should have tried the pad Thai rice noodles instead)... I also got 2x the Lao coffee (YUM) and we tried the sticky rice pudding with mango, which is a long time fav and it was absolutely the best we've ever had. We'd always select our fave dishes but today with more tummies to share the experience we tried Kao Poon soup (no photo because we devoured as a group) and crispy fried pork riblets. Fast and delicious for lunch. My To go order bag always has a nice thank you drawing on it of some sort and I think thats a cute detail. Delicious dinner to go! Whenever we drive past this large-windowed restaurant, it always seems with many customers. We decided to call-in an order to go and were not disappointed. We got 1 star spicy on both the Broccoli Beef and Pad Kee Mao.... which was perfect for our liking. We shall branch out with trying other dishes next time, but wanted to share how delighted we were about our first time. I do wish that the eggrolls were fried longer, but, it's alright. First time visiting today! As soon as I walked into the establishment, I was greeted immediately by the staff. It is open seating so I found a cute booth to sit in. My waitress immediately came over to bring a menu and ask if there was anything I would like to drink. I'm hungry but not crazy hungry today so I ordered: Crispy Fried Pork Riblet Combo: 10/10 -- so delicious LAO Spicy Sausage: 10/10 not too spicy! I love their Jeo Mak Len sauce! This is a cute spot located on the strip with a lot of eateries. Be careful, on Google and on the door. It says it closes at nine but when I went to the store, they said they closed at seven. I ended up ordering takeout because it was about 6:45. I got pad see ew with medium space, there was a pleasant burn to it, and the noodles and vegetables were delicious. I do wish they had consistent signage about the times. They are open and closed because it can be difficult when your door and website say something else. An order of noodles and a Thai iced tea cost me $20. I am also a little bit disappointed that they use Styrofoam containers and put foil into each container when they could be doing things more environmentally friendly. I know we're in Texas, but Styrofoam is really bad for the planet and foil is also not recyclable. read more

We had the egg rolls which reminded me for of spring rolls at other Thai restaurants. They were good and went well with the sauce. For lunch I had the yellow curry. I thought it was pretty well balanced. Lots of flavor. I got it with 4 out of 5 stars in spice and didn't really feel it was all that spicy so I might go higher next time. I found out it's a family based business. Daughter works upfront and mom and dad are in the back cooking. We started with the shrimp spring rolls and their peanut sauce was delicious. I really wanted to be excited for this Laos/ Thai place in Mansfield. We tried a lot of dishes and the only thing that we tried and we deemed good was the fried riblets. If you go here, make sure you try it out Salt and Pepper Calamari, portion was small, wasn't crispy, lacked flavor. Laos Sausage with sticky rice was decent. I have had other Laos Sausage which had more spice and sweetness than this one. Sticky rice was on point. Kao Poon, was okay. I don't know what usually taste like but I didn't get to choose a spice level. Duck Fat Fried Rice was really nothing special and lacked flavor. Pork Skewers was very bland. Nothing extraordinary and didn't really see Grill marks. No one greets you when you walk in so you don't know it's open seating. People stand there for several minutes just to be told to sit anywhere. It takes a while for tables to be bused. Service was extra slow because it looked like there was 1 waitress and a lot of expeditors. On their window they did indicate that they were hiring. We also next to an area where maybe AC fluid was dropping from the ceiling. It was dropping to the ground so it didn't get on our food but was a little worried someone may slip. I won't drive 30 minutes to get here, but if I was in the area I may give their Thai food a chance or at least get the fried riblets again. read more

Let me start off with saying this would be a five star rating if I was only using taste as a measurement. I picked up the green curry with pork, add vegetables and an appetizer of spring rolls. It was all delicious and I'll be back for sure. I've taken one star off for value. The two aforementioned items cost me $25 without tip. Sorry, that's a bit too much for takeout for one person. Also, just because I paid an extra $2.50 to put a side of vegetables in my green curry with pork , doesn't mean I only want four small pieces of pork in my meal. I legitimately had to search for the pork in my $25 meal. Another tip for the owner, don't provide to-go utensils in every order, ask if the customer needs them. This will save waste and offset the cost of using better to-go utensils in the future. Nobody likes to use super cheap and flimsy plastic ware. As a final note, I would like to discuss the flavor of the food once more because it's the best tasting curry I've had in Arlington/Mansfield. Just add a bit more value and you're five stars all day long. You would be my go to takeout spot if I would have had some leftovers on a $25 meal with an appetizer and an entree for one. How disappointing it is a customer who have this establishment in the past and received good food and customer service, only for them to lose a customer from the same thing. We had lunch at sweet rice. It was my 3rd visit. The first time, the food was great, with generous portions and great customer service. The 2nd time the food was ok but still good customer service. The 3rd time will be my last time. When we walked in, we were greeted right away. We chose the cleanest table close by and ordered drinks. I ordered the papaya salad. My server asked me which one because they serve 2 different types. He explained to me that one has crab meat in it. I asked him and pointed to the one on the TV screen that the restaurant have, that displays their dishes. Our server told us yes. So I agreed that it's the one that I wanted. My husband ordered the tofu pad thai that he always orders. Our food was brought out and the pad that portion was half the size that used to be but the price was higher than the last time we visited. The papaya salad came out and it looked nothing like the picture and there was 0 crab meat. The salad literally had crab SHELLS in it. Small blue crab shells. How is anyone supposed to eat a crab shell. The salad itself was disgusting. I called the server over to take a look. I could tell that he knew that it wasn't right. He asked me if I wanted to order something else and I did. I ordered my usual which was Tom Khao soup. The soup looked nothing like before and tasted bland. My husband and I decided not to make a big deal about it. We finished our meal and a young lady brought us our check instead of our previous server. When she dropped off the check, she tried to explain about the papaya salad. I'm thinking that she was apologizing. When we looked at the bill, we noticed that they charged us half for the papaya salad. I called the server over and she said that because the food came out, her dad charged us half for it. Needless to say she brought him over. He proceeded to go on a rant about customers ordering food that they know nothing about and then sending it back when they don't like it and he's losing a lot of money. After being in shock, I asked him, does he normally serve food with shells and that looks nothing like the food that they're advertising with none of the ingredients stated and that taste horrible. I told him that those reasons are probably why they're losing money. I proceeded to ask him, why would I pay for food that I didn't eat but even worse, food that I couldn't eat, even if I wanted to. I also told him (the owner) that the soup was tasted horribly and the serving size is half the size that it used to be but we didn't complain about that. Why would I a customer, have to pay for food that I sent back because so many other customers have done the same? The owner then told me that he is the owner and has also been the cook because he cook staff quit. I kindly explained to him that I understand that it's been hard times for restaurants but what he did to me as a customer, is never an option. I could have complained about so much more but I didn't. I also to told him that word of mouth and reviews are a powerful weapon and I often review restaurants. His entire demeanor changed. It shouldn't take me saying that to be treated with common courtesy as a paying customer. Needless to say, he took the entire papaya salad that I sent back off of our bill.
