It's been a long work week, so my husband decided we should treat ourselves out to eat. My brother in law said he loves the pho here so we decided to check it out. They do have a parking lot so that you don't need to find street parking. Inside, there was plenty of seating available, so we were able to fit our stroller in easily. We shared three items: 1. The crab and shrimp egg rolls were delicious. It comes with three (cut in halves). 2. The lemongrass pork grilled entree was good. The meat was tender and flavorful. We upgraded to the fried rice with pineapple. I wish the fried rice was a bit more fried haha. 3. The combination pho was a bit of a letdown, mainly because the broth was very bland/too light for my liking. The meat was alright, could've be more tender. I got the vegan vermicelli with the several fake 'meats' - I think the strange crispy thing was supposed to be shrimp, but that was a little odd. It was almost like a crispy french fry with not much flavor. Overall the food was decent. It came out relatively quickly, though my dish was a bit cold, so perhaps the food had been sitting for a bit which was why they were able to prepare it so fast. I don't really like the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (L5), which is very watery, served in a large bowl but doesn't have enough noodle & beef. The grilled lemongrass pork wrapped in rice paper is not my favorite either. And yes, the server should pay more attention to pouring water to the guests. Stumbled upon this place looking for vegan options while I was out in San Leandro. Not the most exciting atmosphere, but it was still charming. I was promptly seated and reviewed the menu. I couldn't quite decide on two items so I got 3 lol. I ordered the Buddha spring rolls. Very tasty! They had cooked tofu, mushrooms, and cucumber inside. I also ordered the jalapeno tofu. Very large portion! At that point, I knew I had over-ordered. Oopsies! My 3rd dish was the spicy Thai fried rice and it was also very good. Spicy, but not overwhelming. Everything was made fresh and a good temperature. That being said... the only reason I wouldn't be giving 5 stars today is because the restaurant itself was unusually warm. Very good service and accommodations. I have heart failure and on a very low sodium diet. They make vegan budda rolls without sodium for me and a salad with vegan chiken without salt. Most other restaurants just tell me they can not leave the salt off. I usually order online since I'm disabled, but when I went inside with my caregiver, they recognized my voice and gave me excellent service. The food, even without salt, is delicious. I was curious to try it since I've been to virtually every mock-meat restaurant in San Jose, and I have to say that it was not bad for a local stop in the East Bay. If you are plant-based and want substantial vegan friendly options at a Viet restaurant, this is definitely a good option. I ordered the Veggie Vermicelli Bowl, which came with an egg roll made with taro, and a few mock meat options made from soy and wheat-gluten. I was skeptical at first because of how realistic the meat looked! My plate was pretty tasty but I noticed the mock meats lacked flavor. The vegan fish sauce was a definite must for everything to really come together. My favorite part was definitely the egg roll in this case. If you aren't interested in mock meats, they still have other veggie friendly options like vegetarian pho with tofu and veggies, and salt & pepper fried tofu. We ordered online for pickup on 12/19/21 and we were maybe 5 minutes later than the official pickup time. It didn't matter because apparently the order didn't go through anyway in their system. They started to scramble because our order wasn't ready so we told them we'd just dine in instead (which is cheaper.) Somehow they had our order but just hadn't made it, as we didn't get menus, but they still brought us the foods we choose eventually. The spring rolls are not gluten free as they have fried crispy bits that I didn't notice until I took a bite. My husband ended up eating them because I have Celiac and can't eat gluten, which would be in the crispy bits. I had brisket pho and I could see that they sprinkled ground pepper over the top, which I've never seen before. The broth was really mediocre and that's the first time I've not finished a bowl of pho from a restaurant. I don't think I'd recommend this place for pho specifically. read more

In terms of parking, we came for a later dinner and walked but there seems to be plenty of parking with a dedicated parking lot and street parking otherwise. Service was good too. They were pretty quick with the menu, food, and cleaning the table. We did go up to pay the bill so something to be aware of. The price was otherwise pretty reasonable. The only thing is I didn't see tripe on theenu but that might be more of a me thing. I love tripe. Honestly, no complaints about this place. Definitely recommend going! read more

Really miss coming here especially bringing guests and introducing them to the amazing vege menu. For this COVID SIP, they do delivery but no outdoor seating. Hope we can enjoy indoor seating with them again soon. Be sure to call a few tones as their phones can be busy at peak hours. But as mentioned, best of all is their outstanding vege options menu which has some unique offerings seldom found in this area of the East Bay. The "faux meats" have good texture and flavor that many non-vegetarians are often pleasantly surprised. Also highly recommend the vege fish clay pot, and vege shaking beef. Located in a small neighbor with very low traffic, definitely show some support. It has a small parking lot if you don't prefer to park street. I also ordered a Thai limeade which was Thai tea with lime...looked interesting, tasted sour like lemonade with deep floral notes from the red Thai tea they use. The vegetarian bun bo hue just good. Over the years my family gravitates towards the tried and true. Pho Thai with rare filet mignon, grilled lemongrass pork chop, shrimp spring rolls. We ordered takeaway even tho the restaurant is open for dining. For Pho Thai ask for the filet mignon on the side or you'll find it over cooked in the broth. (I like it on the rare side just delicately cooked in the hot broth YUM!). Oh! they only have Large size available for takeout. It comes in 3 parts and you assemble at home. The broth is rich and full-bodied. You can tell it was cooked for hours. The lemongrass pork chop comes with steamed or fried rice and mixed vegetables with a light sauce (which is my fav since I'm more a veggie than a meat girl) The spring rolls were individually wrapped .. This is a wonderful little place for a quiet dinner. I tend to go around 4 pm and am usually the only table. Small staff who remember regulars and are very sweet but don't hover. I have yet to have anything bad here! I particularly love their Buddha Roles and Rocket Shrimp. They have an extensive vegetarian menu including "meat" dishes that taste amazing. We've done takeout and dine-in at Lotus Leaf and have been pleased with the food both times. We did dine-in for the first time a few nights ago with my fiancé's parents; the restaurant is really cozy and charming inside, and I imagine would be a great spot to eat while it's raining and cloudy. Just kind of has that feel and vibe. When we've done take-out in the past, I ordered the grilled lemongrass pork vermicelli and really liked it (and also liked the generous portion of food), so when we ate in I went with that pork again but did the entree, which comes with stir-fried vegetables and jasmine rice. My fiancé got the clay pot but asked if they could substitute in real fish over the fake fish (the clay pot was only on the vegetarian/vegan side of the menu), so they subbed in salmon. His parents each got the ginger salmon, which comes with the house fried rice with pineapple and stir-fried vegetables. For the table, we got the chicken egg rolls and tilapia spring rolls (which were a special and not usually on the menu). Everything was really delicious. The lemongrass pork had a great grilled flavor and was tender, and the egg rolls and spring rolls were stuffed. It's too bad the tilapia spring rolls were only a special, because I'm not usually a big fan of fish but thought the tilapia was cooked really well and worked in the application of a spring roll (and tasted great with the peanut dipping sauce). My fiancé really loved his clay pot and said it's one of the better ones he's had. His mom felt her salmon was overcooked, but ultimately enjoyed her dish; she didn't finish her fried rice so I got to try some and thought it was great, and liked the sweet-savory component of the chunks of pineapple in the rice. I do feel there could've been more stir-fried vegetables on my plate and that the tiny pile I was given was a little stingy, but not much of an issue. Service was very fast and our waitress was super friendly. (I was kind of surprised that they let a couple sit down only a few minutes from closing instead of having them do take-out.) I really am addicted to Pho, but let me say MOST places use powder to make their broth. As a result you get very very salty broth. Many restaurants take shortcuts because most people know very little about Pho. Pho is all about the broth. This place is one of the few places that actually still makes their own broth. The ingredients, except for the beef balls which are frozen, are fresh. Their flank stake is tasty and editable unlike some other places. I am a regular, I always go there and have the combination Pho, once in a while I will have one of their dishes. It always hits the spot. This is a family owned business, mother, son and grandma. The son doesn't seem to be thrilled to be there working so he can come off as unfriendly, don't take it personal. Many of these business are struggling to stay open after the pandemic with many closing, so I can't. blame them for trying to keep costs down by having an all family business.
