I used to really like coming here because the food was good, but unfortunately my recent experience was very disappointing. While I was waiting for my order, I saw a large cockroach crawling around on the floor where customers were sitting. I was honestly disgusted, and when I got home, I couldn't even bring myself to eat my food. The restaurant also looks very messy and run-down. There were boxes sitting in the corner, and as you can see in my pictures, some areas look ripped, damaged, and in need of repair. The overall appearance does not feel clean or welcoming for a place where people are coming to eat. I really hope the owners take the time to improve the cleanliness, organization, and overall condition of the restaurant. The food used to be good, but seeing a cockroach and the condition of the dining area made me uncomfortable and concerned about the cleanliness of the place. I hope they make some changes because this restaurant definitely needs some attention. read more

We have come here a couple of times now and each time there is a steady stream of people. It's because of how generous they are with their portions, with good food as well. We have ordered the chicken curry, the egg foo Yong (it was not what we were used to), the garlic chicken, and the kung pao chicken. The chow mein has more flavor than the fried rice, but both are standard. The curry was a little strong and not my favorite. My partner wasn't a fan of the egg foo Yong. But we both liked the kung pao chicken and the garlic chicken since both had good flavors. The food is super generous, just over $13 for a two-entree plate that has more than enough food for two people. The only complaint I have is that this place can get so busy that the tables aren't cleaned as often as they should be. In fact, the inside can be a bit dingy. But the staff are nice and at least there is seating when we are looking for some. read more

They were able to answer any of the questions I had about the food and offered samples to help me with my food choices. What made this establishment stand out is the generous portion sizes they give you - no wonder patrons keep coming back! You are getting what you are paying for and some :D. Keep in mind, any of the food made with soy sauce will contain MSG (if that's a concern for you), but it just makes the food taste even more delicious. I would compare their food quality to Panda Express but more authentic. I liked their mushroom chicken, orange chicken, and chow mein. If you're looking for catering options, they have that here too! I recently purchased a large and small tray of salt and pepper chicken wings (~108 wings in total) and they were a huge hit at my party - there was none left! Our favorite fast-food Chinese in San Leandro! I've tried most of the fast-food places in San Leandro, and this is the best one. Not only is the food good, but the customer service is excellent, which is hard to find at Chinese places. Parking is easy to find since they have a private lot. I can see why everyone loves their BBQ chicken. It's a must-order if you haven't tried it. The BBQ chicken is extra charred, like it came off the BBQ grill. It's flavorful without being too sweet. I love salt pepper pork chops, and theirs is pretty good. Their salt and pepper pork chops are bone-in, which is how I like them. They have more flavor and meat than the boneless ones. I also ordered beef fried rice, which I preferred over the premade fried rice under the warming lamp. It is more flavorful. Their sweet and sour chicken is not what most people use in the reddish color. It comes out more like an orange/yellow, similar to lemon chicken. I used to come here when I was in high school and the portion size for the price was what got me. Today I got a bowl, chew mean with garlic chicken and 2 vegetable egg rolls. I'm sad to say the price is ok, the food is not. The chow mein has this doughy flavor that made me stop after the first bite. The garlic chicken has a ton of flavor and a little kick. Not bad. Then the vegetable egg rolls....they are crunchy on the outside and much to soft in the center and the sweet and sour sauce its accompanied with has almost no flavor. I'm very much disappointed with this meal and especially that I paid $12 for it. I don't know what they used to do in the early 2000s but I wish they would bring it back to that. Food 4/5 This place I've actually patronized some they first opened. When I lived closer I was more of a regular. Lee knew me and my son who was a toddler at the time. I miss her but she's older now and home enjoying the grand kids and resting. My friend's mom turned me on to Beijing Bowl for the teriyaki chicken. Nice and tender with that perfect grill taste. Before my food allergies I enjoyed many items on the menu like the chow mein, fried rice, pot stickers, Crab Rangoon, egg rolls, hot n sour soup, spicy chicken (a real fan fav). These days I tend to get the chicken Thai salad that's lite, healthy and does not trigger any of my food allergies. Service 4/5 The young ladies who work there are great but I want Lee back. Beijing Bowl also has "cook to order" entrees as specials. The sign says it'll take 10-15 mins to cook. Most likely they use hot woks, and can cook foods very quickly. Last Thursday I got done with my job in San Leandro, and Beijing Bowl was still open at 8pm. There was a steady flow of customers, which is a good sign. A chinese fast food place with steady business usually means the food is replenished or rotated often. So I went in, looked over the trays, and asked for: Fried Rice with Curry Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. I also got a side of BBQ Chicken. For rice with 2 items, it's alot of food. You could probably feed 2 people. The fried rice was moist, not sticky, and fairly fresh. I picked rice because it can soak up the gravy and flavors of the curry chicken and kung pao. I liked the Curry Chicken. It was tender boneless chicken, potatoes, onions, and some other vegetables. Nice flavor, brought back some memories. I didn't like their Kung Pao Chicken recipe. It was chicken, onions, and undercooked carrots. Maybe red specks of chili peppers? Peanuts optional. I don't like crunchy carrots in cooked foods. I guess bell peppers are too expensive? Kung Pao Chicken should have chopped bell peppers, scallions, and a dose of red chili peppers. Americanized Kung Pao is usually sweet, savory, and with a little spicy heat. Peanuts give it a nutty flavor. The side of BBQ Chicken was a little dry and tough, I kind of expected that. But it looked good. Overall, a fairly good experience. You get alot of food for the price. I'm going to miss Beijing bowl as my go to fast Chinese food restaurant when I move outta San Leandro! The ladies at the counter are the sweetest and the food is cheap but with quality taste. Super affordable and you get huge portions. You can't go wrong with anything here and here's a tip: if you don't want just chow mein or rice, ask for half and half with your plate! Took the leap of faith and tried out Beijing Bowl. To my surprise, Beijing bowl and is very welcoming! It truly has that mom and pop feel because it really is family owned and ran. The 2 young ladies working the counter were very nice, welcoming, polite, and gave GENEROUS portions. They packed it beyond capacity, I'm not complaining LOL. They also gave great care with the food too! I ordered mushroom chicken, and the lady carefully drained the excess liquid before putting it into the to-go box. And our broccoli beef box was starting to leak a little from the sauce, she quickly placed it into its own bag. What service! The food was decent. I wouldn't say it's the best Chinese fast food I ever had, but it surpassingly wasn't as greasy as I was expecting. The highlights were their chow mein, mushroom chicken, and orange chicken. This is our go to in the neighborhood when we are craving some quick Chinese food. The staff is ALWAYS super friendly and helpful. We also ordered large party trays for all of our family events. It's delicious and affordable for such a good amount of food. They have a very unique vegetarian menu, which I greatly appreciate. The orange tofu is to die for!! The portions are huge. If I ate meat I'd be here every day, you can get a combo with three entrees & one side for less than $11 (veg options are a la carte)! My takeout always lasts me 2-3 days because the portions are so generous. The service is very nice. I appreciate how kind the employees are & how they take the time to get to know you. It has that home feeling a lot of establishments lack now. The ambiance is familiar and kind. It feels like there is a community within here. It's an older building but has a lot of character. I love variety and this place has it. The atmosphere reminds me of places unused to go growing up in the early to mid 2000s. It it simple and gets the job done. There's two individuals helping you out in the front as best as they can and they are always working really efficient as well as the people in the kitchen. They know is by family name and expect kind of what we want even though we change it up a bit. The food is good, a bit on the greasy side but it's rare for me to have similar foods. The flavour is there and even compliments the other food to pair it and mix it. I'm always looking forward to this place once in w blue moon. The only negative is that it's far from me and sometimes the hot and sour soup is a bit too salty. I always come back here for some Chinese-American fast food. read more

Wait into this facility to have dinner? I started to pay for the bill as I paid for the bill. They asked me if I had a penny. I said no I don't. They said well. I need a penny and wanted to argue about one penny. That was embarrassing and unbelievable. Even though I gave him the next to dollar. They wouldn't give me the chance they just wanted the penny. It is lunchtime again I came searching for some Chinese American food so I found this place called Beijing bowl. This was a small place around the corner I always drive by and never there to go in because I never see anybody in there. Today I took ace leap of faith to go in for lunch and sure I was so surprise. All the items on the list were fresh and not over greasy like most Asian Scoopy food place. Being a vegetarian it is quite difficult to find places that has a huge vegetarian option luckily the food gods shine the light on me today. This place had a great menu for vegetarian food and they would make it fresh so it was not sitting around for hours on end. I got an order of the braised tofu with steamed rice and a order of eggplant with tofu with the chow mein. Both of these dishes came out fantastic and they also have a really good deal on eggrolls for $1.50 you get two vegetarian eggrolls in the air and I came away with a delicious lunch to take home which lasted me for both lunch and dinner and will definitely come back to this place again. The service was a place with two really great ladies in the front helping me through it all. This definitely is one of the best Chinese food Scooby places around move over panda and Asian delight you got a new competition in town. One thing to note that I noticed there is no pork dishes so I believe this place Carries only beef chicken and tofu as choice or protein.
