On our way to the zoo, we decided to grab a bite to eat and saw this place had its own parking lot. I didn't check Yelp or had any expectations. From the service to the food, everything was great. They were really friendly and our waitress was especially helpful with my toddler. She asked if I needed food scissors so I can cut her food which I thought was very thoughtful and kind of her. The food came out hot, fresh, and fast. I ordered the pork chops and he ordered pho. Both were delicious. The pork chops were tender, moist, and flavorful. Those two dishes + two beers $40 with tax. Very reasonable prices. I think this place deserves more stars. They were SO nice! I'm glad we dropped by. read more

Very rude and impersonal waitress/hostess. I went for a on-line pick up order. When I walked in, there were no customers. A young hostess looked at me with no greeting, no smile and said nothing. I politely told her "for pick up". She just looked at me with no expression and said nothing. So I repeat "pick up" again. Still, she just looked at me. So I told her my name and she finally stood up from the table she was sitting and walked toward the counter. She then punched something on the computer screen and turned into kitchen for my order. As she bring out the order with a plastic bag, the conversation went like this: Me: "oh, I don't need to bag". She: " I charge you for the bag already" Me: "you don't ask if I need a bag first?" She: "No, we don't ask that"; "Do you want the bag?" Me: " No, I don't want the bag" She: "you paid 10 cents, do you still want the bag?" Me: "No, I don't need the bag" At all time, this person has no expression, as cold as ice, rude and totally unpleasant. I think I had another experience with her once and was not pleasant either. But I thought they might have different hostess this time. I was wrong. Their food was actually decent and I had some good experience in the past when a different waitress/hostess was very polite and welcoming. But it has been going down since a few years ago. I see less and less customers in the restaurant. I thought to give an other chance, but this experience is totally rude and unpleasant. I will not go here anymore, and I advise you not to waste your money here. There are other Vietnamese restaurants downtown San Leandro that are more pleasant and welcoming! read more

A friend brought me to this restaurant for my birthday. The food was adequate, but the service was sub par, and not friendly. We had long since finished our meal when I flagged down the server to ask her to take away the plates. I had to hand her my empty plate. She walked away with it. I flagged her down right away again to ask her to also remove my friend's plate (also empty). "You could have told me when I got yours," she said. I had high expectations from this place big mistake they are not nice to non regular customers. Their food tasted like it was left over from the day before they throw your plate in the microwave and serve it to you as if it were made fresh people think this is a nice restaurant they don't know they're being fooled. (12/19/19) I don't have pho very often, but when I do, it's usually from Lotus Leaf. This place was there for me when I had a severe hangover which I believed could be cured with high-sodium, questionable-meat soup. That, of course, was years ago, but here I am now with continued patronage. From my description alone, you might rightly guess that I don't find pho particularly healthful -- true. But I do enjoy this indulgence on a rare basis, especially with the muggy, cold Bay Area day we were having. In fact, we got the whole family to call in an order for pick-up. Conveniently, we all ordered the same thing: | Combination Pho | Per the menu, "filet mignon, brisket, beef balls, fresh rice noodles, & herbs in savory beef broth." I can definitely account for the brisket, beef balls, and rice noodles. The filet mignon -- obviously it's not steakhouse-grade, and it'd be weird if you found some fabulously cooked sirloin in your pho. So, no complaints on the distribution of the meats. The fresh rice noodles take up all the space! A nice addition meant to be slurped as loudly as possible. Then, the herbs. For our to-go order, they filled a plastic bag with a bunch of greenery -- looked as if someone went outside, hacked up a shrubbery, and gave us the fruits of their labor. My party remarked that we would've rather had these herbs distributed more evenly, but it's only a minor complaint. We were able to grab leaves from the bag as we saw fit. A sloppy but fragrant presentation. | Verdict | Yeah, I'm still a fan. It's a pho place -- I haven't really been to any that have particularly disappointed me. These people move like SLOTHS. It literally takes them 1+ hours for 1 meal. I really don't understand. I always get the rice with the pork chop and vegetables. I've been here once before when they first opened but i didn't really like it at the time. So today my coworkers and i decide to give it a shot since its been awhile since we've been there. It's was actually a lot better than my first time there. We had a party of five and we were seated pretty quickly during lunch hour but keep in mind we work across the street so we got there at the beginning of lunch. We ordered our food and to our surprise it came out within 10 mins or less. I ordered a combination Pho (L2) and i didn't expect much because its just pho, cant really go wrong. When my bowl came out I was shocked that the noodle wasnt the traditional thin pho noodle, it was thick (which I never had in pho) to my surprise I actually liked the noodles. Tucked away on a side street near the constantly busy Downtown San Leandro shopping center, this spot serves delicious Vietnamese food in a chic environment. Jazzy instrumental versions of pop hits play while you wait for your meal. We usually start with eggrolls, either Chicken or Veggie. My daughter always orders the yellow chicken curry. Given my love for vegetarian options, this restaurant is a godsend. I've enjoyed the Basil Eggplant Tofu and most recently, the Spicy Lemongrass Tofu. Food is always tasty. Portions are large so we always have leftovers. Lotus Leaf is a popular date spot which makes dining with my 8 year old fun. She seems to act extra extra when she notices couples nearby. Day from the night of the other local pho restaurant we visited just before we sought out a new venue. Lotus Leaf's pho were beyond delicious. We've been on a pho kick for 2 months now and I'm happy to say Lotus is on our top 3. We're not usually in the San Leandro area but we may just drive an extra 15 miles. Ambiance was calming with soft music playing in the background and attractive decor. It had an elegant look and feel. We opted for just the fried rolls versus the usual spring rolls and they were flavored wonderfully and not overly salty like many other places. The large vegetable pho contained the perfect amount of vegetables and a selection of superb tasting lightly fried tofu. The broth was seasoned to perfectly as well. We opted for additional broth since we were sharing the soup. The kids enjoyed their meetball pho as well and talked about how much they enjoyed it throughout the meal time. We felt very relaxed as we ate and the overall environment helped the kids remain calm as well. Servers were friendly and attentive, adding to the enjoyment and we're so glad we went. read more

Per mother bear this place is a solid 4 stars, no more no less. Although the food was deliciously excellent, we have to deduct one star due to the lack of attentive service. For starters we tried the Buddha Roll which were fresh spring rolls with sautéed mushrooms and tofu, along with fresh vegetables. The peanut dipping sauce was perfect. This is an appetizer I would totally order again. The following entrées were ordered: 1. L2- Combination Pho: The beef pieces found in this soup were very tender, per momma bear. The broth had a perfect hot temperature and was very, very tasty. The beef balls weren't like any kind I've had before, a lot of flavor came from these balls. 2. L5-Spicy Beef Soup is where it's at! Calling all spicy lovers out there!!!!-Ok, waiiit, this is crazy spicy but has a good heat kick to it annnnnd the broth is bomblicious. I wish I didn't drink so much of the broth at first because I started getting full and couldn't really enjoy the fixings within, but this soup is definitely a "clear-the-nasal-passages" kinda soup. Get some! Okay, so now that I have discovered that the food is pretty good, the service here can use some work. No one checked in on us throughout our meal, we had to do all the initiating. When we were done with our meal, I asked for the check, and it seems like it took almost 15-20 minutes to finally receive it. It's not like this place was super busy, so that can't be an excuse for the lack of customer service. My daughter recommend this restaurant. I said sure I will give it a try. I've never eaten Vietnamese food before. I must say it was very tasty I really like the spring roll I had. Situated on the corner of Parrott Street and Hays Street on the periphery of all the businesses on E14th Street, this place can be easy to miss. It's dimly lit, so hard to tell if it's open, but otherwise, just go by their business hours. We were kindly greeted and quickly seated. We ordered the crab and shrimp egg rolls, crab and shrimp egg rolls and tofu with vermicelli salad, and lemon ginger salmon. Everything was wonderful - egg rolls light and crispy and vermicelli salad had plenty of fresh veggies and lightly salted fish sauce - and gives you a full feeling without feeling heavy. Something to note was that the rice that went with the salmon was not regular white rice and well seasoned. I went to this restaurant after searching "vegetarian food" on Yelp from the doctor's office. I ordered the clay pot egg plant tofu curry and waited roughly 15 minutes for the food to come for takeout. I was pleasantly surprised that the curry was delicious! It has lots of spices and that turmeric taste with some coconut milk in the curry that I grew up eating (I'm Vietnamese). I think this is one of the best Vietnamese curries I've tried so far in this part of the Bay Area. I will come here again and recommend to others. read more

Many items on the menu I wanted to try, so I went with my companion's suggestion since she has been a few times; L12 Vermicelli - Crab-shrimp Eggrolls & Grilled Shrimp, caramelized onion sauce, and a Thai iced tea. Thai iced teas out quickly, food arrived about 10 minutes later, nice presentation! Crab shrimp eggrolls are hella good! Good amount of food for the price. It took us 5 mins to flag down someone to bring our check and apparently they set it down and forgot to bring it to us... I parked my Whip in Lotus Leafs small parking lot and Rolled in. I was greeted and seated . My Server brought me a Thai Ice Tea and a Hot Tea. I perused the Menu and ordered the Crab and Shrimp Eggrolls for a Starter. My Eggrolls came in 5 Minutes . They came with a Chili Dipping Sauce . They were very delicious. I ordered the Filet Mignon Pho Bowl Large for my Main Entrée. My Bowl of Pho came 10 Minutes later it was Pretty Big . It had a nice mix of ingredient's. The Filet Mignon was pretty tender. I added the Soup Fixings and Dug in. The Pho was very Savory and Filling . Very Yummy. For Dessert I ordered the Fried Banana's. They arrived 7 minutes later . It was a nice presentation and it was very Yummy. My 2 Servers were very Nice and Attentive my Tea cup never got past Half full before it was refilled . I like the Décor in Lotus Leaf . I was excited to see another relatively new addition to the San Leandro restaurant scene. I could not figure out what to make for dinner on Friday so we decided to swing by Lotus Leaf since I had it bookmarked. Prices and Food: Entrees are reasonably priced with the pho being on the higher end ($7.99-$8.00 for small and $8.99-$9.99 for large) vs. some pho houses and banh mis are $5.50 vs. $2.75. However, on the flipside, the ingredients like grilled lemongrass pork and grilled teriyaki chicken is more high end than your typical ground pork meatball banh mi so something to keep in mind and you can get filet mignon pho. Service: Friendly but is on the slower side so keep that in mind if you are in a rush or super hungry. But if you have time for a leisurely dinner without being rushed, then Lotus Leaf is a good choice They were still honoring the free Thai Ice tea for first timers but you do have to ask and they do have a website lotusleafrestaurant.com if you want to check out the menu. read more

I first noticed the lotus flower murals on the wall when I walked in. They were fairly busy for a Sunday. Tranquil spa-like music was playing giving the place a calming effect. I was craving a healthy choice. The ginger salmon, rice with pineapple , and cooked vegetables were yummy and fairly priced. My friends enjoyed their beef stew and noodle soup choices. I love this place. I can't beleive I didn't write a review before SIP. I'm writing this review now in the hopes they reopen for take out sometime soon. Their handmade noodles are incredible! The thin premade rice noodles you get at other places just makes me sad now. They also have true vegetarian pho for my husband. But their filet mignon pho is so good its one of the few beef dishes I still eat. I'm also a big fan of their appetizer combos. I order the one with papaya salad and can have it for dinner plus two lunches. My hubby has ordered a variety of dishes on the vegetarian menu and has been happy with them all. read more
