From the outside, Healthy Foot Spa doesn't look like much, but don't let that fool you, the inside is a completely different experience! My sister and I had a 10:00 a.m. appointment yesterday, and from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and seated right away. We were taken into a relaxing room with comfortable massage chairs that recline, where we started by soaking our feet in warm water. The atmosphere was peaceful, with soothing music playing in the background, making it easy to relax immediately. Even though my sister was right next to me, the setup still felt surprisingly private, and I was able to completely unwind. While our feet soaked, they started with a head, shoulder and arm massage. After the foot massage they had my turn on my stomach and massaged my back. I had several knots around my shoulder blades, and my therapist did an amazing job working them out. He adjusted pressure when asked and was just awesome! I left feeling so much better than when I arrived. The prices are incredible for the quality of service. My one-hour foot massage was only $45, and a one-hour full-body massage is just $60, which I will definitely be trying next time. The entire experience was relaxing, professional, and affordable. I'm only giving two stars specifically for this reason. I'm a regular here at this spot and I always have a good experience except for my last visit.. there is this new male there, I got a foot massage and body massage. Everything was going fine at first but then the person kept falling asleep during my massage and there would be times of no movement. For the staff / manager please make sure your workers are not wearing headphones.. this person working on my back was going so hard. I kept saying " too hard, too hard, owww" and didn't go softer to the point I was waving my hands in the air and kept going hard.. I looked over my shoulder since he was above my head and his eyes were closed and he was wearing a headphones/ earpiece.. I could hear the music coming out of it so he wasn't paying attention at all and couldn't here me for obvious reasons. Because of it I am in so much pain my shoulders hurt to touch and my body feels bruised and tender. My 90 minute experience wasn't pleasant. I will still return as a regular customer. One of our favorite foot spa places in the Bay Area. They do foot massages, ashiatsu massages, deep tissue massages, and there are some movements of Swedish and hot stone massages. The therapists I have had here are well skilled and knowledgeable. However, some of them seem less wanting to do firm massages and will pass you off if you request that. Additionally, sometimes the massage appointments are disorganized. Sometimes the person making reservations seems to double-book or not realize that their only therapist doing Thai massages was already requested. You can also hear some clanking of the silverware due to the dim sum place next door. But overall the massages are great and prices are good, so it is one of our go-to spots in the area. read more

just left my 1hr foot massage 25 min early after having my experience ruined by another customer who was speaking loudly on his phone. he also had it on speaker so i could hear both sides . when i asked the person massaging me to request the other customer take his call somewhere else, he said "well, he is a customer". i said "i am a customer too, do you want to lose business?". i am a Black woman and the other guest was a Chinese man. had a Black man been talking loudly on speaker while getting a massage....well, we all know that would not be tolerated. also. they don't replace the used towels after each customer. i suspected that this was the case, but was able to confirm it when i felt the cold, wet towel on my legs that was clearly there from the person before me. gross. he changed it when i asked, but i don't think it was an oversight, just lazy and trying to cut corners. i would give negative stars if i could. read more

The massage was fantastic but at the end after giving a 20% tip the masseuse said. "that's all you are giving me? It's not a food service tip!". I Googled and showed that the proper tip for a massage is 20%. The manager acting guy said it was good and fine. I've been to my fair share of cheap chinese massage parlors...and this place was just disappointing as balls. "You get what you pay for"...no, not in this case bc I definitely think I overpaid for the shitty massage I received here. $55/hr for a full body and I left the place in a worse off mood than when I came in lol. I came with another person so they brought us to the couples massage room which was TOO tiny to fit 4 people. The masseuse didnt even have enough room to make their way around the massage table - so how does that work if you're giving a full body massage? What's funny is when you first come in, you immediately notice a sign that tells you to turn off your cellphones but for some reason during our 1 hour massage treatment, BOTH of our masseuse had their phones on going off. 1 on loud, and 1 on vibration. They did not go unnoticed. My masseuse even had the audacity to leave her phone on my body and on my massage table so I could feel and hear the vibrations of her phone constantly going off. Not only were their phones going off but they were a ALSO both having a casual conversation with each other at random intervals in the middle of treatment. *much relaxing* /end sarcasm Another issue I had was the way my masseuse kept slabbing on unnecessary amounts of oil onto my body. Literally felt disgusting how much oil she threw on me. Towards the end, I was getting cold. I let her know and she didn't even know what to do but to just wrap my feet up a bit more with the thin layer of sheet when I had asked for a blanket. I usually go to Havens Day Spa but sadly had to settle for this unfortunate place today due to a schedule conflict. I would have been better off not getting a massage at all today. Waste of money and time coming to this poor establishment. Don't believe the 5 star reviews that other people leave this place. I called in the evening and asked if they had time for an hour or foot massage pretty much five minutes from the time I called, and they actually said yes. The gentleman who worked on my feet (and the rest of my body) was marvelous. First of all, the place is very clean an relaxing. It is very important to let your masseuse and/or management know what you want. COMMUNICATION IS IMPORTANT. If you don't overcommunicate in that regard, you may not get what you want. I like a very hard, strong message. A few times I've had to stop and ask for a harder message. Personally, I like the combo and it is a great deal. 1/2 hour on the legs and 1/2 hour full body message. By the time they are done with me, I feel like I'm a piece of bakery dough that has been sent through the proofing rollers 100 times. We (my friend and sister) arrived, they probably thought we were sketchy that's why they had us wait a while and then took us separately. We purchased our combo massage at $55.00 each. They had us dress (underwear only) then started beating us. The leg massage was divine but the back and arm massage was a full beat Down! Now today 10/26/2022 my back hurts so much and got bruises. Also as we were leaving the reception lady that took our payment left before us they held us hostage claiming we didn't pay! She did an ok job: checking for pressure, making sure I was comfortable, until the very end when I was paying and I tipped her $10 for a $55 full body massage. That's 18%. I don't feel like I stiffed her, but her response wasn't the typical "thank you see you again next time" instead she tip shamed me for not matching my friend's tip to her masseur of $20. If someone totally stiffed her, I can understand speaking to them that way, but I didn't. I left an acceptable amount. That's not how you talk to customers. Healthy foot spa is a neighborhood gem! It's clean, affordable, and gets the job done for body aches. You can call ahead or just walk in which makes it really convenient. I had Daniel for the combo foot and body massage. He did a good job checking in on pressure and where I'd like him to focus on. If you want a good massage, I usually tell the person what hurts which helps them a lot. I'll definitely be back regularly. Some tips given the other reviews: - The walls are really thin here and they share a wall with a Chinese restaurant. You can easily hear any conversation nearby. I'd suggest bring earphones and playing some relaxing music or white noise if you want to tune everything out. - Most people do not speak English as a first language. You can easily get around this if you google Chinese terms for areas you'd like them to focus on or how to say harder or softer. You can also do the good ole universal language of hand signals. - Tipping is just a given. Tip 15% minimum and 20% or higher if they did an amazing job. In fact, I've left with quite the sour taste in my mouth. Came in an hour after they open--seemingly the first customer of the day. A few things could have been better. - Hella ppl talking outside the room. Loudly to each other and even my massage therapist. -toward the end, the receptionist made a call to Toyota customer service and put it on speaker phone the whole time. - Towel instead of a sheet to go on top of me. As a bigger person, I felt very uncovered. - no music until another customer came. So awkward silence for a while - the guy pulled my underwear down. Like...full bare naked booty. I wasn't feelin that. He didn't ask if it was okay..just sort of ripped them down. Mother weird happened, but I still wish he'd asked if I was comfortable with that. My troubles were with the end of the experience. I really would have given this a 4-star if not for the ending. I didn't have much cash on me. The massage was $40. I'd planned to give $8 tip, but the booty thing...so I was going for $7. 18% tip. I only had $4 cash and wanted to put the rest on my card. (Sucks, I know, but is what it is.) I asked him to put $43 on the card, and I'll give him cash for rest of tip....10 confused stares, 5 min of arguing with other workers, 3 employees later, another guy says, "Ok, 43 on card..can't you tip him a little more?" I've received a hot stone massage for 60 minutes on 2/6/20. I am very upset. My therapist were using stones that were too hot for him to even hold. After the first time of applying the stones immediately after placing oil on my back, I felt sudden heat and stinging. He had to keep picking up the stones rub once or twice and then put them back down because they were too hot for him as well. He's saying "hot hot hot" and making noises to indicate that his hands are being burned. The second time he used the stone, it hurt so bad! I asked him to let the stones cool for a few minutes and if they are too hot for you to hold, they're too hot for me, especially after just placing oil on me. He literally fried my skin. At this time I didnt know I suffered a 2nd degree burn. Toward the end of the massage, I was asked to turn over on my back and that's when I really felt a lot of discomfort and stinging. At the end of the massage, once my therapist left the room, I looked at my back. Please see the picture below. When I came out the room, I informed him that he burned me and he didnt say anything. I paid for my massage and he asked how much tip i want to leave because i gave him $60 to pay for a $50 massage. There was no manager on site but I plan on getting my money back because I shouldn't have had to pay and they fact that he didn't even address the situation when I mentioned that I have a burn on my back. I went back later when a manager was there and got my money back. Hot stone massages are suppose to be calm and relaxing....this whole experience was awful. The room was freezing cold, the table was not dressed with sheets/towels, and the towel they gave me to cover my body with had several holes in it. When she came back from getting wet towels to clean off my body, she kept the door open, thereby exposing me to any passerby. She laughed when I asked her to close it. Not to mention, the wet towels were cold. My 60 minute massage only lasted about 55 minutes. There was not any music or any other element of relaxation during any of it. After a horrible experience, I still decided to tip 20% , and the receptionist said it was not enough. I've been here a few times and had no problems, until this last time. I got a 30min foot massage/ 30 min body massage combo. I asked for a woman, but, the lady from the front said I should get a man because they are stronger. (Should have insisted on a woman). No problem with the foot massage, other than it could have been stronger. Then, he took me in a private room, told me to undress and offered a small towel to cover myself. (I'm petite and it covered me, but, still a lot smaller than other places offer. He kept exposing parts of my body that didn't need exposing, like, my butt, and would work on the lower legs. I've come here a couple of times within the past 2 years and I am hooked. It's an under appreciated spa and more people shouldn't judge a book by its cover. The spa itself is in an old plaza but inside it's very open and roomy and clean. They have a large massage area outside for foot massages and then private room for body massages. The massages themselves are great, the masseuses instantly know when I have a knot or some strain right away which is so amazing. Today, I went here with my boyfriend and brother. We all got the $35 body massage & foot massage and it was probably one of the worst massages I've ever had in my life. I requested them to not touch my face or hair, but everything else is fine. That is what I told the manager and she relayed that to the masseuse in Mandarin. She started at 2:31PM-2:56 for the foot massage. My feet was soaked in the water for 5 minutes and she pulled my feet up to dry. She didn't massage my toes in the water like the other masseuses who did it for my bf or bro. Then she moved me to a private room for the body massage from 3:10PM-3:30PM. She worked on my neck and shoulders because I told her to focus on it. Other than that, THAT WAS IT. She literally rubbed her entire arm on my back. There was no massages on my arms, hands, and butt. She ended the "massage" with rubbing my back with a hotel towel and slapped my back about 4 times. I walked out of the private room and to the cashier area. I only tipped the masseuse $5 and she was extremely confused?? The manager asked who was my masseuse and then spoke to her in Mandarin, which I have no idea what she said. I really want to rate this 4 stars but due to their inconsistencies and lack of communication skills, Im just giving 3.5. We are regulars here every month or so. There's one time when we come, our masseuse is really good and then another one, she is very rough no matter how much my husband to keep telling her to be mild only. I like deep massage so im good with being hard. However, its different when you know if one person is being lazy and doesnt want to take her/his work seriously. The place is clean though and reasonably spacious, not cramped, and that's the first thing I check of a business. They have 6 private closed-door rooms so you can have and enjoy a full body massage. Then they have 10 units of those small beds on the outer area of the place when you only want to have foot spa. They should also make sure to put another layer of curtain or a portable divider by the front. Cause everytime someone comes in/out, the glare from the sun outside is really bothersome. The soft and soothing music should always be on all the time to keep the setting the relaxed mode for everyone. We still come here though sometimes its a hit or miss with whoever masseuse we get. May, my favorite one, already left the company. I wish the manager or owner talk to them. But we will still come back. read more
