We go for the kalbi ribs. Whatever and however they marinate it, sooo delicious. One of the best on island! Hands down. Picture does no justice. They got our order wrong, instead of Tantan, it was just plain ton katsu broth. Will still go back because not a lot of places in Wailua/Kapaa serve noodles or soup. read more

He welcomed us in didn't mention they were closing and got our food out so quickly the ramen was delicious especially the charred pork, I loved my garlic shrimp, they were amazing. My mom and I were craving ramen so we stopped by for early dinner one night. The restaurant was pretty empty, so we were seated quickly. There was AC inside which was so nice. I ended up needing to grab a jacket. We ordered pork gyoza, fried tofu, and tonkotsu ramen to share. The food was delicious and the service was fast. Loved the dipping sauces that came with both the gyoza and tofu. I always love the soft boiled eggs that come with ramen. Perfectly cooked. We spent a total of $45.71 including tax and tip. For our last night in Kauai, we couldn't decide where to eat. Since it was a little chilly outside, we decided ramen sounded like the perfect choice so we gave this place a shot. We started with the pork gyoza, which was very good. For ramen, we ordered Tantan w/ oven-roasted pork belly, Shoyu Ramen w/ marinated chicken and Shoyu Ramen w/ slow braised pork belly. Everything was flavorful and it definitely hit the spot. The restaurant wasn't busy when we there and the artwork on the walls was impressive and added to the atmosphere. We came here after the Makana Tour of the Na Pali tour and the food was exactly what we needed after a day on the ocean. The tonkotsu broth was one of the most solid ramen broths I've had on the islands and their chashu was different from what we've traditionally had but it was a delightful surprise. Service was excellent! We were welcomed in with a smile and while it's a smaller spot, everyone seemed to be enjoying the food and conversation. Highly recommend grabbing a bowl of ramen here! An awesome find that we happened to stop by. Before I get into it let's just say that is was so good we ate there 2 days in a row. What's the deal? Roast duck just like you had in San Francisco cooked by a chef from China. It was awesome. Kalbi short ribs that were moist mouth watering just like your favorite K-BBQ. High quality ramen at a reasonable price! The ramen is a bit more expensive than other places. The crispy pork goes well with the tan tan style ramen. The shrimps are big, fresh, and juicy. Unfortunately, the tonkatsu style ramen had a foul taste so we didn't eat it. It had the taste of a wet sheep or mildew. The bowl came loaded with squid, mussels, shrimp, and one full boiled egg (halved). The broth was light and super delicious - really hit the spot on a chilly day. The noodles were pretty standard, nothing extraordinary, but still tasty and exactly what I was craving. The portion size was perfect for the weather we were having - filling without being too heavy. My coworker got the same Seafood Ramen but opted for the tantan broth instead, and he really enjoyed his choice too. It's nice that they offer different broth options so you can customize your bowl. We arrived for a really late lunch and there were plenty of tables open - just us and one other table during the late hour. The quiet, relaxed atmosphere was perfect. The staff was very attentive despite the quiet period. So, my family and I tried Lotus Ramen & Hibachi 2 days ago and it took my a bit to write this review because I was wavering between 2 and 3 stars. I decided to go with 2 because there were some good with the bad, but after reviewing other reviews, it seems like there's a lot of inconsistency in the food. They also have interesting AI generated paintings(?) on their walls that my brother in law joked were generated many generations ago. So let's start with the good. The person serving us was very friendly and gave us room to talk while also serving food. My wife and son got the Tonkatsu broth ramen and they both liked the broth, but I thought it was a touch too salty. I got the Ma Po Tofu and it was delicious. It was flavorful and had just enough spice, tang, and sweetness to it. It is not a traditional Chinese style, but was very flavorful nonetheless. My mother in law got the Hibachi chicken and she really enjoyed it and the miso soup that came with it. My brother in law got the chicken fried rice and said it was alright. So here is the bad. My wife's slow braised pork belly did not have any flavor and it was dry. My son's oven roasted pork belly was dry, hard, and also flavorless. I'm not sure if they were trying to let the saltiness of the broth flavor the pork belly, but it didn't work. My nephew got the Shoyu ramen with chicken and he didn't like it either, although I didn't taste it myself. And no one else finished it even packed their leftovers to go. I normally love going to small, locally owned places when I'm out on vacation because you can usually find great food and hidden gems. So if you're adventurous and willing to take a risk, you can try something here and hope it's a good dish. Otherwise I'd pass if you're looking for a hidden gem with consistently good food. read more

What a discovery! This small ramen shop is about 200 yards from our Kapaa VRBO. we went in for lunch and has a wonderful meal. Starting with the pan fried gyoza the flavors were complex and delicious. Ramen orders were hibachi chicken with shoyu broth and tomkatsu broth with boneless duck. Both bowls steaming hot with spinach, egg, seaweed, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms. The service was excellent, and the food came quickly. Our stomachs were happy! Highly impressed. read more

However, the moment we walked in, one of the staff members abruptly and rudely stated, "No tables," without any greeting or explanation. I ordered the tantan style ramen with slow braised pork belly (and asked for it spicy), and I was so happy they had chili oil too. The broth was rich and savory, and they were very generous with the pork belly, which was tender and flavorful. The service was warm and friendly from the start, and we genuinely felt welcomed the whole time. It was the perfect kind of place to recharge after a full day outdoors. It has a nostalgic type ambiance, as if it popped out of 1950s Hawaii Service was friendly and the menu simple yet varied enough. I got the Singapore noodles with pork that was quite good and well prepared. The noodles were delicious. We also had an order of the pot stickers to share that were equally good. Overall a simple meal yet well made with a hearty portion of food at a reasonable price. Just don't expect fine dining, more cafe which can be perfectly good. I've driven past Lotus Ramen 1000's of times and it never struck me as, "oh, I must stop and try it!". I should kick myself! The husband and I get back from a trip last Sunday and I'm really craving a soup of some sort and he wants Asian inspired. We live in North Shore and know what's there and it just wasn't speaking to us so I hop on Yelp. "RAMEN" and this place pops up with a 4.8 or 4.7 rating and I'm like, "WHAT???" How'd I miss that. On Kuaui it's rare to see those ratings. I get directions and it's like a 28minute drive and we're starving. I knew hubby wouldn't go for it so I just told him, "babe hop in the car I found the spot!" He's hungry. He's tired. He trusts me. WE GO! Oh man oh man oh man!!!! WHEN did this place open??? It's between Kintaros and the gas station and you have to turn down a side street to get to it. It's a small spot that fills up fast. "Eric" ushered us in and plopped us at a table. I had some questions about the four types of broth for the ramen. We both ordered tonton broth and I got the duck while hubby went with pork belly. Arguably, the duck won! Wow, the flavor of the broth was insanely rich. Pretty sure he started that pot at 3am to get that richness in it by 6pm. Fantastic soup! We also had the fried rice which was great too. Fast forward to last night, Friday. Not even 1 week after first finding Lotus and I had to have it again. Knocked it out of the park a second time! This time though my husband ordered steak or maybe short ribs with veggies and fried rice. It was so delicious. That sauce for the steak is definitely from some enchanted recipe. So good.
