We came for brunch yesterday and found out why this place is so popular with locals. The breakfast plates are made with lots of aloha. The pancakes and plates were delicious. They had local dishes like loco moco and spam with rice. We tried their new featured dishes called a special Japanese pork tonkatsu. Wow! It's Best tonkatsu we ever had with juicy premium pork imported from Japan and cooked to perfection. They plan to offer it later in the afternoons and possibly evenings soon. The service was super friendly and helpful. The local restaurant is cozy and welcoming. They also have AC if it gets too warm. We love this island favorite.

Had a very confusing experience here ordering through the Yelp app. I ordered as we were driving to the restaurant, but the order status stayed at "pending confirmation from the restaurant" and never updated to "pick up ready". I had no idea what to expect when I arrived to pick up my order, but luckily my order was ready. It sounds like at least for Yelp, they get incoming orders but don't have the ability to send updates back. I wouldn't recommend ordering via the Yelp app as you don't get order updates and prices are more inflated than ordering directly from the restaurant. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the wait didn't seem that bad and we were starving, so we asked if we could get a table and eat our takeout order there. After waiting ~10 minutes, we got a table and I finally opened the food. I'm really glad I decided to eat here, because they actually packed the wrong dish for me. I ordered the stuffed shrimp plate, but they misread that as the stuffed shrimp benedict. I told them about their mistake and they quickly remade my dish. I didn't realize they drizzle hollandaise sauce over the shrimp plate and would've asked them to remove it had I known, since I'm not a fan of the stuff. But after scraping off most of the sauce, I found myself really enjoying the stuffed shrimp. I'm not sure what goes into the stuffing, but there was definitely a lot of mushroom and other tasty thing. The stuffed shrimp paired with some rice really hit the spot after biking in the morning. Portion for this was on the smaller side though. My friend got the broasted chicken breakfast and thought it was just okay. We both felt it was dry. Since we were dining in, my friend ordered a coffee and we shared a mini order of their popular macadamia nut pancakes ($8.75) to try as well. Very happy they offer various sizes of their pancakes for folks like me who just want to try a few bites. I usually prefer savory dishes at brunch but the coconut sauce on top was bomb! Would recommend.

Daddy O's in Lihue is a simple but classic restaurant serving up Hawaiian/Asia pacific style faire. I went for breakfast with my family. I ordered the local breakfast with bacon. I thought it was really great for what it was. It's affordable and filling and it's a fair price. The service was great. We even got to speak to the owner Daddy O and we learned he was in business at this location for about 10 years and he was a former commander of a gunship at 20 in Vietnam the Vietnam War. WOW. When he is not serving up yummy food in his restaurant he is giving aerial tours and teaching flight lessons for planes and helicopters. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the street, but it is definitely a place you will want to go during your time in Kauai.

Tried Daddy O's for breakfast with my family and was pleasantly surprised. We got seated right away and our food came out fast. Our server was super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Ono Omelet which was really tasty. I had anticipated that it would be pretty oily because of the spam and Portuguese sausage inside, but it wasn't oily at all. The spot is tucked away in the back of a plaza, so it's easy to miss, but definitely worth finding.

Just the perfect mom and pop restaurant we needed during our stay in Kauai! We came here twice and really enjoyed the food. Breakfast and lunch served all day. We met the owner Henry and he was super welcoming. Remembered us on our second visit. We didn't know what to order so he started us off with Chinese sui mai and steamed pork bun. Good app to start off with! Speciality of the day was the prime rib sandwich, we went with his recommendation and it did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed the sandwich. What really made us come back the second time was the macadamia pancakes. I don't really order pancakes but I wanted to try something more local especially with macadamia. I'll have to say this is the best pancakes I've ever been served. Super fluffy, warm, and the best part was the coconut cream. That literally sold it for me. Henry was right when he told us we'd come back after our first visit. We also tried the breakfast burrito also. Just the right size and everything you can ask for inside a Hawaiian breakfast burrito. Great spot, will recommend anyone to come try!

On our way down from Princeville back to the Lihue airport we had three action items. #1 on the list was to have breakfast. I did a Yelp and this caught my eye. Daddy O. So retro sounding. Read the mostly positive reviews. We entered around 8:20am. Got a table with no wait time. Each table is numbered. We were handed a two sided laminated menu. Ordered - * hubby got the big Daddy O breakfast platter - three eggs, three meats, hash browns and two scoops of rice * daughter got the loco moco - two eggs with two hamburger patties two scoops of rice over gravy. * I got the french toast sweet bread with two eggs and Portuguese sausage. Constant coffee refills offered. Constant flow of customers. Located in an unassuming strip mall where the anchor is the bowling alley. Our server turned out to be the owner Harry. We warmed up to him 1/2 way through our breakfast. Then he asked if we liked cha siu baos. And siu mai. Next door is the wiki wiki store where you can grab a quick lunch. Action items #2 was taken care of - we got cha siu baos and siu mais to go. Snacks for our flight home later. I'd return if I'm ever back to Kauai.

Go here!! You will not regret it. The food was epic. The loco mock had the classic taste and was cooked to perfection. Wow! The Mac salad was the best I've ever had, I highly recommend it. The service was excellent. The older gentleman asked about us personally and made us feel so welcome. He offered us local specials too. It's a local diner and it lives up to the billing. The physical space is spread out well and perfect for what you are looking for on Kauai.

Very quick and friendly service. Reminded me of childhood! It's homey and comfortable. Everything clean and organized. Order the broasted chicken. That crispy chicken skin, omg. Yum! Waffle is just okay, but the pancakes are delicious! Fresh fruit for baby was great variety for great price. Hot off the griddle! My family ate here several times during our stay and each time our food was served hot and quick! The pancakes were so hot, fluffy and delicious. I had the shrimp Benedict's, my mom ordered the oxtail soup and everyone else ordered pancakes and bacon. The only reason I'm removing a star is due to service. Henry or Daddy O wasn't as friendly as the rest of the staff. There's only a few people working at this small establishment and when they get busy you can expect not so great service from the waitress and Daddy O. But if you get passed service, the food is delicious. read more

We came here for breakfast before our busy day of sight seeing. Saw a review on Instagram about their Ube Pancakes and knew I had to give them a shot. They definitely lived up to the hype! My friend ordered the local breakfast after we successfully got her hooked on Spam during this trip. The service was great, staff were friendly and the whole place had the local feel. It's a small hole-in-the-wall tucked next to the bowling alley, but don't let that fool you, it's definitely worth the stop. Looking forward to coming back on my next trip for the oxtail soup. read more

Very nice dated restaurant in a strip mall. Extensive breakfast and lunch menu served all day. Standard Hawaiian-mainland fusion. I ordered the big meat breakfast meal , which came w 3 eggs, white rice, pork fried rice , hash browns and toast. The hash browns were subpar. The meats were one small slice of charred ham, 3 slices of Portuguese sausage, 2 slices of bacon, 2 slices of grilled spam. Overall a big breakfast for under $20. Prices were low compared to the size of the meals. My wife ordered French Toast with eggs and ham. Above average but priced low. They have an early morning 2 egg one meat special breakfast for $10. Overall I would see this as my every day breakfast spot because of the value and quality of the food served. read more

This is a very casual, local diner. It is located in a shopping mall area. The food, however, is excellent. So are the prices. They have early morning specials for breakfast. The food is cooked to order and is very delicious. The staff is kind and friendly. It is definitely located within the local, residential area. Nothing extravagant about it. Just a down to earth, local diner. The quality of the food, and prices are excellent. Don't go here for the ambience or the fanfare. Just a really good meal. read more

The food was standard diner food. The mini stack was dollar size pancakes. Light and fluffy. The eggs were cooked perfectly as were hash browns, nice crispy bacon. Portuguese sausage is sliced thin and tastes kinda like polish sausage. Service is prompt and food comes as an item is ready so toast proceeded the rest by a long shot. True local diner feel in a strip mall but friendly and reasonable prices. read more

We were looking for a local breakfast spot and found Daddy Os. What a cute experience! It's definitely a local gem as walking in around 9:30 on a Tuesday morning they were pretty full- we got one of the last tables. Service was very kind, local- what you would expect from a family run establishment. They all pitch in with every role, and happy to help! Service and food came out QUICK! They have their routine down in terms of greeting, seated, taking your order and brining out the beverages and food. The menu is local plates, but we came for breakfast so had their breakfast plate and waffles! The waffles were aromatic and delicious! As was the breakfast plate (eggs, sausage, hasbrowns). The servings are larger than average but delicious! This place is in no means "fancy" but I will always love supporting a well run family business that just do the basics PERFECTLY. read more

Best fluffy pancake and chicken and waffle on the Island. This is quite possibly the best pancake in the country. My family of four had the macadamia coconut pancake, chicken and waffle, oxtail soup, traditional breakfast with Portuguese sausage and shrimp egg Benedict. The shrimp egg benefit was my second favorite and the best egg Benedict combo I've ever had. They add a special cremini mushroom and bit of something special to their sauce that brings out a lovely flavor. The oxtail soup with cabbage was my wife's favorite because it had a very traditional and home cooked feel. The service was great. I had a chance to speak with the owner, whom is a Vietnam Vet. The place is family owned and has been here a long time with local treating this place as their go to spot. The place does not wow you with the ambiance but it sure will surprise you with the quality and quantity of food. I definitely recommend this place as your first stop if you ever visit Kaua'i Hawaii. read more

Off gate, the service was grade A. I was welcomed and seated promptly. My waiter was friendly and helpful. Even threw in a suggestion. The coffee was great and my cup was consistently being refilled. I ordered the Kanaka. I was a wonderful dish. My only grip was that my bacon was hummm either over cooked or old. Minus that, everything was good. read more

Decent place for brunch. We stopped by here for an early lunch before our flight home. It's located in a little strip mall with plenty of parking. For food we ordered the stuffed shrimp Benedict and a mini loco moco with mushrooms added. Food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the stuffed shrimp Benedict. Loco moco was good but nothing crazy. Prices are kind of high for the portion. I wish the Benedict came with a side of fruit or something. read more

We stumbled across this family owned hot spot. They've been opened since 2016, our first time after many years visiting Kauai. Located in a hole-in-the-wall strip mall, Daddy-O's offers breakfast and brunch. This morning we ordered a tasty plate of loco-moco. The gravy is silky smooth and burger patty very flavorful! We also enjoyed a plate with French toast, Portuguese sausage and eggs. The servers working together as a team to make sure you're well taken care of. They have exactly what I was hoping to find somewhere, Disc Golf equipment! Then I find that the store is closed today! This is a shared operation with a Barbecue business and the other half being Disc Golf. Well, it turns out that staffing issues had occurred and the only one staff member there was running the barbecue. Bummer. The Mrs ended up knocking on the closed doors and the proprietor came to see what she wanted. She explained I was hoping for some discs for my son who is an avid player, and as luck would have it, he stopped cooking long enough to help me purchase a couple of discs! Oh man that was so cool, plus he knew his stuff and helped me pick out two top quality discs. I got two drivers. One initial driver and a custom design fairway driver that they designed! At 171 for their custom disc, and 167 gr. for the other, these two will be seeing some use when we hit the mainland. While we're doing this, ah, the smell of the food started wafting over, but he was not nearly ready yet to start serving. I appreciate so much how this gentleman went out of his way to help a tourist pick out some gifts, when clearly he needed to be in the other side of the business managing his barbecue. My wife and I were staying very close by, so we made it a point to visit it during our week long stay in Kauai. The concept and beer selection was great, but the food tasted no different from what one would get from a cafeteria. It's important to check their hours when their food is offered, since it differs from their open hours. Currently food hours are 10:30 - 14:30, W-Sa (opening one hour earlier on Saturday). We came on Friday, and walked around the mall until their kitchen opened. It wasn't too busy yet, so was able to order and pay. While waiting, added two cans of alcohol, at which time the food was ready. Brought everything out to the common outdoor tables that can be used for dining. There is a large choice of local beers in cans, and we chose two: Lanikai Brewing Company's Pualani Sour Ale ($6) and Paradise Ciders (Honolulu HI)'s Lei'd Back Lilikoi ($3.50). Both were good, and would absolutely use this store to buy local beers to take back home in the future. Both of us love brisket, so got the brisket sandwich a la carte for $18.99, and added a side of cole slaw ($3) and Mac Salad ($3). It was a medium sandwich to begin with (used a hoagie type soft bun), but with so much bbq sauce mixed with the chopped brisket, it became more of a bbq sauce sandwich. The sauce itself was good, and the chopped brisked seemed OK, but the ratio was way off. The sides were OK with small portions. For $24.99, should have gotten better...even in a tourist area of Hawaii.

I ordered the stuffed shrimp benedict -- shrimp and eggs benedict are two of my love languages -- and asked to have the green onions left off even though they weren't listed in the ingredients. No pushback, no drama, just accommodated. The portion situation: two full benedicts arrived, which I was not prepared for. I don't eat much and couldn't finish the second one, so come hungry or come with a friend. No sides included but honestly the benedicts stand on their own. Service was fast from the moment I walked in -- greeted immediately, seated quickly, order taken fast, food out fast. Casual busy vibe that feels like a real local spot. Excellent food, you can't go wrong! my family and I were looking for a local place for breakfast, we asked around and were told Daddy O's food was great for breakfast. The restaurant looks like your local hole in the wall diner with the best breakfast meal. The service was great and the owner was welcoming! Harry, the owner told us about his new dinner menu (only in its second week). When we arrived for dinner Harry and his staff greeted us with a warm welcome and gave us the best meal we have had in Kauai! this place in known for its breakfast but the dinner is what will make this place legendary! read more

Moco Loco best I ever had! Wife had Fresh grilled Ahi and eggs with fresh mango salsa, freakin' amazing. Stuffed French toast on Portuguese sweetbread with fresh fruit is amazing too!!! Harry the owner buys produce from local farmers and catches the fish himself. He's also very friendly and helpful. We were looking for the best local restaurant on Kauai and we found it. On vacation from Canada, we decided on Daddy O's for breakfast which was served up quickly, fresh and hot, great service. Harry the owner convinced us to come back for his signature Surf & Turf Dinner which he served up personally. This is a breakfast joint but don't let the decor fool you, the food was hotel grade, amazing steak, prime rib and lobster. Kudos to the chef! read more

Just so you know all of the tips go to the house. I used to work here and none of us got paid tips. I find the this very dissapointing, the customers falsely assume the tips are going to the workers. If you want to tip the workers you clould pay them through zelle or some online payment method, that way the house doesnt claim it all. read more

Hands down the best ono grinds for breakfast. Incredible chicken and waffles and the loco moco is absolutely the best I've had. Would highly recommend anyone who flies in to stay nearby in Lihue and check out this place. It's a must try location if you are staying in Kauai. read more

I have never had good pork in a restaurant, I read that they dry aged their pork so I tried it. Wow! Moist, delicious, large portion, what an incredible flavor. I ask other patrons how their food was and everyone went overboard in their accolades. I'll be back!! read more
