Stopped by after a visit to Tamba and were so glad we did! These donuts were hot and fresh and were some of the most delicious donuts I've had. We got a 9 pack so we could try multiple flavors. Our favorite was definitely the lilikoi and the cinnamon crunch coming in at second. I liked the fact that the donuts aren't huge they are the right size to share but are small enough that you can order more than one to try more flavors. Wish we would have had time to get them another day because they were so good.
Stopped by Holey Grail Donuts in Kapa'a mid-afternoon to grab a sweet treat for the family. We ordered four donuts: the Naughty List, Purple Haze, Lilikoi, and Strawberry Fields, along with a couple of coffees. One thing that really stood out was that the donuts are made to order, which is pretty impressive and definitely adds to the experience. The flavors were creative, and everything tasted fresh. The coffees were good too and paired nicely with the donuts. That said, these aren't your typical donuts. They're smaller than what you might expect and come with a higher price tag. The texture was also different from what I was anticipating. Rather than being light and fluffy, they were denser and chewy. Some people may love that, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. The truck itself is located in a random parking lot, but there's plenty of parking, and it's easy to stop by. Overall, I can appreciate the quality ingredients and made-to-order concept, but the size, price, and texture didn't quite win me over.

A friend recommended I come here for donuts. She was raving about how it's one of her favorite memories from Kauai, and I can see why. These donuts are petite and delicious. They have more of a mochi texture than your classic donut, which I enjoyed. They're not too dense. Each donut is $4.50. We ordered 1 strawberry fields (local strawberries, green tea swirl) and 1 purple haze (ube, lilikoi). The flavors were amazing! They even change out the donut flavors seasonally. The staff kindly packaged them in to-go boxes for us when we said we planned to eat the donuts a little later. They also sell cute merch - shirts, hats, mugs, etc.
Ordered every donut available! Smaller than you'd think ima. Good way so you can get through them all. We had 6 people team up to enjoy these. Favorite was the lilikoi! Normally I worry that's too sweet but this was perfect

Incredible! The hot single is perfectly sweet and savory all at the same time! Served hot, fresh and delicious! Do not miss these Taro donuts while in Kauai. There is another location Princeville, as well. Both were phenomenal.
Made to order doughnuts! They came out piping hot with local flavors. The cocoa nibs were not my favorite for a doughnut topping. I would recommend the passionfruit!

If you are from Portland, think of Phipps donuts with Hawaiian flavors. So good. The purple haze and the chocolate crunch were both good too. Its just that the first two were jaw dropping. No complaints on any of them. The coffees were OK. My first couple of sips were better than it seemed after a few minutes. Maybe the ice watered it down quickly? Anyway- this place is so good! If you are in Lihue or Kapaa definitely stop by!
We loved Holey Grail Donuts! The donuts were made fresh right in front of us and you could truly taste the difference. Warm, soft, and so flavorful. The Original Sin is an absolute MUST definitely one of the best donuts we've had in Kauai!
Made to order donuts, warm and moist. Outdoor seating underneath the little roof, in case rain comes. Hot coffee was a bit sour.
OMG! Best donuts we've ever had. Fresh made to order and unique flavors. Absolutely don't miss stopping at this adorable truck. You will not regret it. We tried the naughty list (vanilla and coconut charcoal) and purple haze (ube and passion fruit). Hawaii vanilla chai was perfectly spiced and lightly sweetened. I saw a mix of reviews before coming here, but wanted to try them out anyway since they get hyped up as a top-tier donut spot. Honestly, after trying them, I left feeling like it was just okay. I definitely expected a bit more given the hype and price tag. Price & Size: At $4.50 per donut, I expected them to be larger. They are definitely on the smaller side for what you pay. The Donuts: They are taro-based, which gives them a unique texture. Flavors Tried: - Lilikoi: Super fresh, but a bit underwhelming for the cost. - Original Sin: Hawaiian vanilla bean and maple glaze. It was decent, but nothing mind-blowing. It's a cool concept using local taro and Hawaiian ingredients, but for the size and price, it didn't quite live up to the high expectations. Good to try once, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to get them again! read more
Cute little truck setup with front porch for seating. Provides good shade. Ordered the Original Sin. It is definitely made to order as the outer part was sticky on my fingers. Comes in a little swanky box that seemed overkill but most things are for the 'gram so I get it. I've been to a ton of donut spots from LA to San Diego to NJ and it was a 7/10 beyond the warmth. Staff was nice and it didn't take too long. Plus you get to people watch while you wait. read more

If there's one thing to say about Holey Grail, is that its aptly named.....these donuts are a religious experience. Made to order with fresh Hawaiian ingredients, these donuts are everything donuts were meant to be. We arrived around 8 in the morning, and found no line and almost no wait for our 6 donuts. While they were all delicious, make sure you try the Lilikoi! One thing to note: these donuts are a quite a bit smaller than your typical Krispy Kreme. (Another reason to try as many as possible!) read more

We tried these donuts on our first day in Kauai and then we had them every single day that we were there!!! The textures, the light airy fresh hot donut, the tropical flavors were all a hit with our family! My daughter preferred the classic while we loved the passionfruit, guava and original sin (maple). I highly recommend trying them and also having them daily as calories on vacation don't count! The coffee (macadamia) was also very good! There is limited parking in the food truck compound - they have an app where you get points etc for ordering and you can order ahead. The wait time is usually 5-10 mins as they make each order on demand. The price is also reasonable- with discounts on bulk orders. read more

Welp. Bitter sweet moment, our last stop before arriving at the airport. And the one place i had been wanting to visit the most during our trip, but due to family coordination, I only had it once. It was a bit of a rushed moment, but we made the most of it. Just as advertised by my instagram algorithm prior to the trip from California. Truly delicious and outright fresh. This particular stand was in front of the road, that was the scenery, tourists and locals just driving and riding by. It was peaceful despite the notion of pressure we felt to hurry up and making the plane. My only complaint is the disparity between pricing and advertising. If you look through the social media and even their images in these menus, the donuts lack that same visual look. Other than that, if i had the opportunity to buy them again, i would for taste and quality. read more

Unique, but not my thing. Holy Grail Donuts definitely isn't your typical donut shop. The donuts are dense and cake-like, not the light, fluffy kind you might expect -- though the flavors and glazes on the outside are creative and really tasty. We tried the sample box to get a mix, and the iced coffee was good too. Overall, it's an interesting concept and worth trying once for the experience, but the texture just wasn't for me. Probably wouldn't go back, but glad we checked it out. read more
So I stumbled across Holey Grail when stopping in next door for some coffee. I had gone to the coffee shop before on the trip and knew I wanted to try Holey Grail before we left. So our last day on the island, I ordered four of their donuts. I was not expecting them to make them fresh right on the spot! I ordered the guava pastry, which was a seasonal donut. I also ordered their original sin, peanut butter cup, and chocolate. I was super tempted by the hot single since it came with honey, but my aunt and ended up getting it so I was able to try it. The donuts were delicious and I see now why they are so popular! They were still warm when we ate them. A must try when visiting the island! read more

Oh my goodness, these are probably the best donuts I've ever had in my life! And to top it off, my teens thought the same. We are still talking about these donuts! I didn't tell them until after they'd devoured them that they're made with taro and fried in coconut oil, because they might not have tried them had they known lol! We ordered a 4-pack tasting box and chose the Rick Martinez, Cosmic Churro, Wild Guava, Original Sin and we also added on a Lilikoi. These were super fresh, warm, and delicious. The flavors were amazing and it was hard to pick a favorite! I've spotted there are some locations here in Southern California as well, so that's a little dangerous to know! Will have to check them out to see if they're as good as the ones on Kaua'i! read more
Huge fan of this place, I have been to the locations in LA, and this one was even better, since this is where it all started! Every ingredient tastes high quality. I love the texture of taro donuts. The passionfruit glaze is the perfect balance of sweet and tart. It tastes like the perfect tropical summer day. The original sin glaze is delightfully vanilla bean packed. Loved the doughnuts. They were made fresh, so they were hot and moist and just heavenly! The glaze was not too thick and not too sweet, it was the right amount. Would definitely come back to get more if I get the chance on this trip. I hope next time I come I get their other, maybe seasonal, flavors like guava! read more
After hearing the rave reviews about this place--and having arrived just after their location in Hanalei closed--we swung by the location in Kapa'a on our way to the airport to sample the legendary taro doughnuts here. It's essentially a food truck, and service was friendly. We surprisingly walked right up to the counter with no line. At nearly $5 a piece, we only bought two--one for each of us--but the experience and taste were worth it. While it was indeed the most expensive doughnut I have ever eaten, it was also one of the most amazing. Think of a chewier Krispy Kreme doughnut in terms of texture, but the taste is better. You don't "inhale" these like Krispy Kreme doughnuts; you savor them! There's a variety of flavors to choose from--all sounding fabulous, so it will be hard to choose. When you want a real treat, though, stop by here and enjoy the difficulty of finding your new favorite doughnut. :) read more
Have you had a vegan donut made out of taro fry in organic coconut oil? Let me tell you, it's the most delectable combination for freshly made donuts. This location sits in the heart of Kapa'a town in Kauai. Small food truck with great Aloha service provided. I had ordered the cookies and cream flavor for me and the kids. My daughter's first impression of the donut was met beyond her expectation. She enjoyed every little bite. This was my third time having Holey Grail Donuts which is now my absolute favorite! When you are in Kauai, make sure you have this on your list for places to visit. read more
Delicious little food truck in Kapaa! We stopped by to give my kiddo a sweet treat. These hand made donuts are so delicious and freshly made as you wait. It was quite busy but we only waited a few minutes. It's definitely costly ($4.50 per doughnut) but you can tell by the quality they use great ingredients. There's seating which is nice, or you can head across the street to the beach to enjoy your doughnuts ! If you're craving a sweet treat, I highly suggest it here. Cutest little donut truck in downtown Kapaa with donuts made from taro. A must try while in Kauai! There is also a location in Hanalei. Ordered the yummy Lilikoi and Purple Haze and they were made fresh to order. They are smaller than normal donuts and a little pricy at $4.50 each but the taste was worth it! I am a donut connoisseur so I had to check out Holy Grail donuts. Their donuts are made with tarot. You can't taste it tho. They are made to order so they come out hot and fresh. They tasted great tho. I got the chocolate donut with crunchy chocolate dibs. Also had the churro donut. I'm pretty sure I still have that churro sugar on me somewhere. What a tasty mess they were. . They are small tho and not worth $4.50 a donut. I also got an insulated coffee mug. It didn't have a price on it. I was assuming it was about $20. She rang me up and that mug was $30! . That's what I get for not asking price first I guess. Donuts were tasty but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them again but they are worth trying at least once so go grab you a donut or two... read more

Came to this place twice during our latest trip to Kauai, it was that good! So nice to be able to find plant based treats, as hubby can't do dairy. They don't make your donuts til you order them, so expect to give em 5 to fill your order but holy cow is it worth it! Everything we tried was flaming hot out of the fryer and absolutely delicious. A must visit if you're staying on the east/south side of the island! read more
