Pretty good but doesn't have that edge that makes it refreshing. I love that they use fresh local ahi tuna though! The poke bowl was just way too sweet. Maybe ask for no sauce.

All I have to say is that I went TWICE in less than 3 days!!!! Awesome food does not describe this place at all. There was just so much I wanted to try I had to go back a second time before I left. Small little restaurant that is always packed. Service is great very friendly staff and food is served quickly. What I had to get twice was the Crab Rangoon! The best one I have ever tasted and I love Crab Rangoon. They have lots of filling in each one, cream with lots of imitation crab you won't regret it. I also got the crispy pad Thai which was great! And the fried. California roll. Also got the soup Tom Kha and it was good too. If you're a sweet person and like Thai tea try the Thai tea with coconut milk, it was my first time trying that combo and WOW!!!!! Check out this place you won't regret it!

Big Monster Sushi was our first stop on Kaua'i after we landed! It was a fantastic first stop give how fresh the sushi and poke were. Everything was delish, the service was so quick, and the restaurant was very clean. The staff were friendly and made great recs. Would come back here for sure!

DEC2025 First stop was a great one. We found this place after the flight since we were starved. Parking was for a few different shops but we didn't have much issue getting in. Service was friendly and answered any questions we had. They checked in frequently and refilled water. My partner and I ordered the fried chicken, eat healthy roll, a salmon avocado roll, and a salmon donburi. Everything tasted really fresh. I really liked the fried chicken and the salmon itself. The chicken had a great crunch to it with some sweet savory notes. I think it incited a want for chicken the rest of the trip too. The salmon donburi worked great for my partner who was trying to eat a bit cleaner after the long plane ride over. The eat healthy roll was good but needed something to gel it together. The japanese sweet potato was great in it but would get lost in the bite.

If you're looking for good quality in Lahue, this small sit-down restaurant won't disappoint. - Sushi was really good. - Diverse food options for picky eaters. - Good option for lunch/dinner before your flight home. - Not of alot of seating inside. - Parking lot is small.

    - parking: little tight if you went later for dinner, we were early so no issues - staff: friendly and checked up often Food: green curry beef: amazing flavors, could taste the curry leaves! 10/10 Sushi roll: forget the name but it had salmon, delish Salmon poke bowl: filling, tasted fresh would get again!

Excellent sushi, fast and friendly service, and a good enough atmosphere We ordered the Angry Tuna as an appetizer. It's a play on a jalapeño popper. We thought it was pretty good. We ordered three simple rolls and two specialty rolls. They were all scrumptious, and the tuba avocado roll was my favorite. The avocado was perfectly ripe, which made it divine. Searing wasn't very comfortable and the music was way too loud. This was first meal on the island. Needless to say, we picked well!

Cons: expensive, meh freshness, small portions and on the bland side with no condiments. Also who puts the LEFTOVER cucumber middles in a poke bowl to add as a filler vegetable--talk about cheap and disgusting! Pros: service was friendly. Save you time and money and go somewhere else where there is better quality food.

This is a cozy spot that really makes the most of its small space. We waited just a few minutes for our large group to be seated, which was totally worth it. Our server was warm and friendly, took our orders quickly, and kept the food coming at a great pace. We tried the drunken noodles, papaya salad, a few sushi rolls, panang curry, and poke bowl, and honestly, we loved everything. The flavors were good and the portions were okay but enough for our group. The price was pretty reasonable as well.

Perfect from the start. Was greeted by a sweet smile and welcome. Seated in AC -plenty of tables! Waitress asked if we wanted recommend and she gave some good suggestions. Got the summer roll for appetizer and she wasn't lying when she said people love their peanut sauce -it was served warm, was smooth, creamy, and chunky in one with a subtle flavor of coconut (maybe milk/cream?) nonetheless it was bomb! I got the crunchy roll with spicy salmon. It was definitely crunchy, fresh and spicy and filling. Husband got the chicken katsu. It was really good. Perfect panko crunch and moist juicy white chicken served with a nice sauce. The fried rice was full of flavor too! I ordered the Thai coffee but preferred the tea instead. The music choice -Love it too. Especially the jungle bell rock Christmas song! The staff here are great and the food is absolutely delicious.

Husband craving poke bowl and wanted to try this restaurant. Located on a busy street!! Parking available at the side of the restaurant. Many customers in the restaurant but wait staff seated us right away. Restaurant was clean and showed restraints with their decor. A bit of a language barrier as it was difficult to understand their English due to thick accents but we ironed it out. Craving satisfied!! The Poke Bowls were absolutely deliscious with plenty of pieces of fish. Ratio to fish, veggies, and rice perfect!! Loved the Grilled Shishito Peppers with homemade sauce and Bonito Flakes. So savory!! Papaya Salad with it's perfectly balanced sauce was addicting!! Highly recommend this restaurant. Worth it!!

Very friendly place with numerous tables. Not the cleanest place or most aesthetic. Food is delicious. Lots of flavor. Wish they served more white rice and had larger plates to eat from. It was too small. My rice was falling into the soy sauce dipping portion of the plate. Serving size of the Pad Thai was a little small as well. My sister is a local and says this is her favorite Thai place on the island. I can see why. Everything tasted amazing. Wish they served a little more food. Pad Thai w/ Tofu: 5/5 Panang Curry w/ Tofu: 5/5 I'm Hungry Roll: 5/5 Mango Sticky Rice: 5/5

Ordered the pork Lumpia which was tasty. Also ordered the "my hero roll" & "Samurai roll" . The Samurai roll was significantly better and would get again. Overall, I did like blue wave sushi better.

The menu has something for everyone, and you can customize with your choice of proteins, veggies, or tofu. I chose the pad see ew with veggies for $15.95, a very generous portion loaded with beautiful fresh vegetables. The red curry with beef for $16.95 was beautifully aromatic with tender slices of beef and plenty of bamboo shoots and cabbage. A chicken thigh skewer for $4.75 was succulent, perfectly seared and a must! Three tender skewers of chicken satay for $7.95 with the best Thai peanut sauce I've ever tasted. I got 2 veggie summer rolls for the plane ride back to the mainland, which were the perfect red eye food packed with fresh veggies and with a sweet chili sauce side. Any return trips to Kauai will definitely include a stop at Anatta's :)

The windows were open, so a breeze did come through although it was quite warm in there. They have several tables on the skinny balconies that wrap around the restaurant. Our main server was devoid of any emotion whatsoever - rather strangely robotic. There was another gentleman that was wearing an apron who was either a cook/manager or the owner and he was running around filling in the gaps. Of course, as is the cost of all food in Kauai, the prices were really high for the quantity given. They charge $14 for four potstickers so we did not get those. We opted for the Larb chicken and the Thai basil chicken which we requested spicy, actually very spicy and it came out totally mild. They brought us some garlic chili oil which was nearly rancid. The flavor of the Thai basil chicken was really good though with lots of wok hay. The quantity of the larb chicken was at least twice as much as the Thai basil chicken. It was milder, but it was still tasty. They also serve sushi rolls however I'm not quite at the point of feeling comfortable paying $25 for one roll of sushi. The restaurant has gotten worse each time we visited, not sure if it has something to do with the passing of the previous owner. It is still very busy; I think it is one of the few ( if not only) places you can get saimin on the island. The menu is the same and the food came fast, but the taste was not good at all. The saimin is ok, but the won tons were overcooked and undercooked at the same time (yes, really); the side with meat was so soft and broken that the filling was falling out, but the end where they close the won ton was so hard, doughy and raw tasting. The won ton filling was this loose weird ground meat. They are the worst won ton I've ever tasted. The bbq beef sticks which used to be our favorites, were also a fail; they were so overcooked and were so tough that's like chewing on beef jerky. The best thing was the pie, which more like a cake; it still tasted like the old days. The added some new stuff like manapuas, they tasted pretty good, but they are different that the regular ones with slightly chewy chunky pale pork fillings, not the juicy red char siu that you will normally expect. I wish the restaurant will focus on the roots and the main reasons why most customers come here - to eat good saimin and bbq sticks. The new stuff like manapua and lumpia are fine. But please don't forget, the name is Hamura Saimin, and not Hamura lumpia and manapuas. I am really sad to report that after around twenty to thirty years patronizing the establishment, I DON'T think we will be coming back.
