went here a few times -- was my wife's pregnant craving & I'm not complaining because I enjoyed these cravings just as much! The service when we went were just 2 folks that took care of everything from tables, running food & cleaning they were helpful, kind & super efficient! It feels like a true mom & pop with delicious authentic flavor profiles of all the thai food. As for ambiance, it's a decent sized restaurant with if my memory serves me had about 5-6 tables. My litmus test is typically the penang curry & it was so rich, flavorful & packed with the standard thai spices + interestingly enough crazy fresh veggies that typically i've never seen in penang curry before (most notably avocado lol but was delicious). Also had some drunken noodles which were perfect as good as you can imagine Lotus thai delivers for sure! Their thai salad has the best typical dressing, I actually liked it so much I asked them if I could pay extra to get a to-go container & they filled a quart for like $2 which was such an amazing & kind thing to do. read more

We love dining or getting take out at this Thai place whenever we are in the area. They make authentic Thai dishes. We ordered through the Yelp app on New Year's day: papaya salad, drunken noodles with chicken, massaman curry with mock duck and a mixed vegetables dish. Because we ordered through the app, each dish price was $4-6 more than what was stated on their website. The food was good but I felt like they charged way too much for the quantity. The papaya salad was the only one that I thought was reasonably priced. We're never going to order through the app again if that's how they will be priced. Better to dine at the restaurant. Wow. This is great Thai food. I've lived in this area my whole life and I'm a little upset I haven't eaten here sooner. The food is delicious and authentic. I tried the wonton soup, drunken noodles with fried duck, Pra Pram and the Tom Kha soup. Everything was so good. I especially liked the drunken noodles with fried duck , the duck was cooked so perfect and it was tender. All the food was spiced perfect. All the dishes you can choose different proteins whether you want chicken , shrimp , or even tofu , and plenty of vegetarian options too. I will for sure be back to try other things, I would like to eat in the restaurant next time to experience their food presentations. read more

Loved our meal last night at Lotus Thai. We got pretty traditional Thai dishes, but they were all excellent versions - pad Thai, ginger chicken, and chicken massaman curry. I'm not usually a fan of pad thai, but being one of my wife's favorites, have had many versions and this was one of the best. The staff here is extremely patient and friendly. With 3 kids, we're not always the easiest to wait on, but the team here was absolutely great. Also a bonus is that it's a BYOB and there is an liquor store 2 stores down. Mango Salad was not nearly authentic. Cubes of ripe mango as opposed to shredded green mango. 3 stars because the flavors of the Lovely duck were "lovely", however was drowned in sauce. read more

This was one of the worst Thai meals I've eaten in twenty years. The prices at this NJ strip mall restaurant are higher than those at some of the best Thai places in Brooklyn and Manhattan. And what do you get for your money? My wife and I have now eaten here twice since this restaurant re-opened. Pearl of Siam has now become Lotus Thai after the owner sold to her niece. The place has been freshened up inside and the food is outstanding! My wife has had the crab & shrimp fried rice both times since she liked it so much! I've had the pineapple fried rice and Pra Ram. I've never paid so much for so little. Highway robbery. Prices make no sense. Vegetable fried rice is $17, but beef fried rice is $26. I went for the beef. For about 3 stringy pieces of beef, $9 more? Absurd. Then the fried rice portion...barely enough for 2 adults. A complete rip off, but I will not order from them again. read more

I recommend this Thai Restaurant to y'all! Cutest little restaurant on Route 10! It's very neat and clean! Staff is very friendly and it's BYOB so in case you forgot to bring your wine or any other drinks there's a liquor store right next to it. Food is super delicious! Spice level is on point! I had zero clue that this place was here. I remember when it was Pearl of Siam, and stopped going, due to that restaurant being less then fulfilling. So glad to see that it changed hands. So this place has been open two years, and I sorely wish I had known sooner. Anyway, stopped in for lunch and was nicely surprised. The restaurant is still relatively small, so reservations on a weekend would be smart planning. I only had one dish, that being the Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp, as well as your standard components - scallions, bean curd, bean sprouts, egg, and of course, the thin and delightful noodle. Oh, and the big bonus (in my opinion) was that the dish included ground peanuts. A must! Now the dish itself was truly flavorful. Perhaps some type of red curry paste or sauce was incorporated, and I only say that because of the rich hue of the dish itself. (Was not spicy). The chicken was tender, and the amount of shrimp given was sufficient (4 medium sized guys). Although, the shrimp was a little bland. Not over cooked or undercooked, just lacked flavor when consumed solo. Nonetheless, it was definitely a very well done and nicely presented dish at that. Sadly, they did not have limes available which I am a big fan of, so they served with a slice of lemon. Two small issues (nothing major). 1). I was never asked if I wanted something to drink when I sat down. They brought me water, as standard practice would seem in the restaurant business, however it would have been thoughtful of them to ask that upon sitting, if I was interested in something other to drink. 2). The bathroom could use a cleaning, and there was only two paper towels left in the rack. I know many people judge a place, based upon the conditions of the restaurants bathroom. So perhaps they can focus a bit on that, as well as restock their lime inventory. Overall, I was quite pleased with my experience at Lotus, found the dish itself to be worthy of the price point ($17.00 with tax), and WILL absolutely return. I do wish Yelp gave the option for 3 1/2 stars, cause Lotus is worthy of it. Quite frankly, they very well might be worth of 4. I will have to go back and try another dish from their vast menu, in order to make that decision for myself. Oh, and a simple thank you to the staff working today. Everyone is super friendly, and it's so nice to see others smiling while they work. Many of us forget to smile, and that in itself is quite sad. So disappointed with food I ordered tonight. I was so proud telling my hubby how good they are. So very unlike my first visit last year! I ordered shrimp pad Thai which tasted blah and the crispy duck with tamarind sauce. Both tasted the same.... believe it or not! And such a let down for the bottom combination! Only good was the description ... the sauces enclosed were too little and tasteless! I guess you won't be hearing from me from hereon because definitely Lotus Thai is off my list! read more

I've had takeout from here twice, and it's been great each time. I've tried the chicken pad Thai, the chicken red curry, and curry chicken puffs, all of which were delicious. I typically ask for spicy, which to me doesn't taste like it's burning hot, but rather like it has a nice kick. My husband has had the beef pad Thai which he orders medium and has enjoyed as well. We've placed our order online, and it's always been ready in the time promised (20-30 min). The restaurant itself is small and casual, but as I've only had takeout, I can't speak for the service. The staff has typically been friendly when picking up takeout. It's located right off of route 10, behind the Weis shopping complex. Great Thai food for the Randolph area. Always get the Pad Thai (pictured and good portion size for 2-3 people). You can get the Pad Thai with chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp. Coconut curry chicken and rice is great as well, the sauce is addicting. The restaurant is BYOB with a liquor store right next door. The owner is very nice.
