I've been here a few times now and it seems an establishment for the Newton area. Located in a strip mall, there's plenty of parking, making it a great place to bring families or pick up to-go orders. The standout appetizer for us are the curry puffs. They're just so tasty! The filling is a flavorful curry mixture of potato and chicken. Although I didn't taste the chicken, it didn't detract from the dish. The pastry was fork tender. Soo good! For dinner I like the pad se ew. It's more on the savory side than other restaurants I've tried but is consistently good. Speaking of savory, I've noticed Thai can be either savory or sweet depending on where you go. This place balances flavors on the savory/umami side. My boyfriend always gets the drunken noodles and bc I don't like spicy but he does, he asks for chili on the side. They bring out a tray containing 4 different spicy pepper based accoutrements. He loves this! The servers definitely never rush us, which I also appreciate bc we tend to come here on date nights. I like to get a bit dressy (dark denim and nicer top) and I don't look out of place here but jeans and a tshirt works too. We recently got the mango coconut sticky rice for dessert and enjoyed it. They served the rice warm, which was great and the mango was perfectly ripe and sweet. We'll get that again for sure! Also, they tend to stay open even in inclement weather, which is great. Great service, very good, nearly authentic (they know they're serving Americans!) Thai food. Ok, so it's not L.A. Thai, but it's really good. I got pork larb salad for the first time in a while and it didn't disappoint. I rarely order the same thing from any restaurant, so I implore diners to TRY new stuff! My husband loves the drunken noodles. They're ok but I really enjoy spicier food. The Tom Kha (chicken coconut soup) would benefit from cooking the chicken in the broth, rather than slicing precooked chicken that usually is a little dried out for my taste. Go for the duck--really any of them--as they're all good. But I highly recommend eating the duck dishes and any fried appetizer at the restaurant. They just don't travel well. read more

Bland flavor, find another spot! The pad thai was not that good, pad see ew was ok, both beef and chicken were too dry... Thai iced tea was way too sweet! Green curry was good with a spicy kick. Probably the only thing I'd recommend from here. Came to try out this spot based on google and Yelp reviews and ordered a bunch of different dishes for a group lunch with over 10 people, I've only listed the ones I can remember but overall the meal was not memorable and can't recommend it... everyone was a bit disappointed with the meal. You might want to still give this place a shot. I'm sure there are others who'd like this spot more than I did! read more

I appreciate the reasonably priced lunch specials, but I would say the food here fails to stand out. The soup is just hot and too quick to finish on the palate. The pad ce aew had good chicken texture, but otherwise needed more veggies for balance; the noodles needed either more chew or more gluten. My dining companion said she'd had better. It is open on Mondays, which is a rarity. Service has definitely become faster under the new owners, which is a plus. Decor is shooting for old and traditional and gets at least partway to both. read more

Wow! I have had Thai food all over the world, including in Thailand twice. Definitely my favorite Thai food place in NJ so far. I only come in this area once in a blue moon as I live 1 1/2 hr south. But I always have their food when I am here. Great Food & Friendly Service with reasonable pricing. read more

Unfortunately this was our go to Thai restaurant for the past few years since it's changed hands. And I'm saying unfortunately now because my wife and myself went out for my birthday dinner there because they have been very consistent with their pricing and their Quality and quantity of food. But last night all has changed! Now they're charging a surcharge for using credit card of 3.99% in addition to the cost of the extremely overpriced menu. I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu one of the duck dishes. Which is twice as expensive as what my wife was getting and I was extremely and I repeat extremely disappointed with the quality and the quantity of the food. Thai Nakhon has picked up where Thai Nam Phet left off. So if you're used to eating good Thai food at this location, you can continue to do so. The service attentive and gregarious, the restaurant was scrupulously clean, and fresh roses on the table were a nice touch. We'd eaten at the former restaurant (Thai Nam Phet) many times, so when we walked into Thai Nakhon, we didn't immediately get that it was a new restaurant (some of the decor carried over, but brand new menus), We started with a shared salad of Crispy Duck, delicious. Usually I gravitate to Nam Sod, Yum Nua, or a Papaya Salad for starters, but wanted to try something different, this hit the spot. Crisp, fresh, scented with fish sauce and chili paste, and piled high with crispy pieces of duck, (think duck chicharrones) an awesome beginning to our meal, and a cleaned plate. For dinner I had the Chicken Pad Prik Khing, medium spicy, which luckily was not completely dumbed down for the American diner, as they served it with a decent amount of heat, as opposed to just waving a chili pepper over the dish before bringing it to the table. It was fresh, spicy, and colorful, with good layering of and depths of flavor. Dawn had the Salmon Khing Sod, grilled salmon, with a large assortment of vegetables, in a slightly spicy ginger sauce. I tried some and it was an excellent counterpoint to my spicy chicken dish. Portions were ample enough where we had to ask for takeout containers, and lunch the next day. We will most definitely return, and wish this new incarnation of Thai cuisine on Woodside Avenue, Thai Nakhon, good fortune, and a long and illustrious future. read more

One of my favorite Thai restaurants - food is always fresh, delicious, and prepared quickly. I will usually get a Thai salad, drunken noodles, Thai iced tea, and mango sticky rice. The peanut dressing for the Thai salad is incredible. You can specify how spicy you would like the food and I love the smokey flavor the chilis add to the dish. Great Thai food! After missing Thai Nam Phet, we were not disappointed with this place. The menu is actually very similar, and the new owners kept most of the interior the same. I can recommend the Drunken Noodles, and Mang Sticky Rice for dessert. Salads are delicious and HUGE! If I wanted to pick something to criticize, it would be the additional fee for "non cash transactions ". I take a very dim view of that :(. The food and service are beyond reproach. read more

I have visited Thailand more then a few times. I love Thai food, and ate at different Thai restaurants more then I can ever count. I could truly say this is one of the few places where I keep coming back for more. The restaurant is owned by Thai people with Thai chefs; and you get real authentic Thai cooking. Giving 2 stars due to the fact that they raised their prices on our favorite dish 2 times within 2 months! Never seen a restaurant do that. Our fav menu item.. chicken pad Thai has gone up too much at this point to justify visiting. Sad because the place is cute and have eaten there over a dozen times now.
