The chicken and broccoli and the house special beef were both absolutely scrumptious!! So tender, so flavorful, so amazing. The duck sauce ($0.55) is worth the upcharge, but left us longing for an egg roll to dip in it. We found it to be somewhat disappointing that they only offered one small side of rice for two main dishes, but we made it work. Overall, great option for takeout, and we would definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

Came here with a few friends to grab a bite, it was so so. The problem was the owner, he was creepy. Asking us what our nationality was (we are Asian). He was hitting on me and my friends. He kept trying to talk to us but we gave him no attention. Will not be going back! read more

Got delivery from Door Dash. Arrived fairly quickly so at least main dish was still fairly hot. Had gotten a meal from this place before and thought it was not that good but wanted to give it another chance. Did like it a bit better this time, but still found it pretty mediocre. Got Kung Pao Chicken, fried rice and Spring Roll. All came well packaged. Portions are a decent size. The Chicken was ok...but did not have quite the zing I like in Kung Pao. Spring Roll was fine but a bit undercooked and the rice was ok but kind of bland. Better with Duck Sauce. Hot And Sour Soup was tasty but far from the best I have had. This is not really a zing review that old Stinky P.is posting, and maybe he will order from them again sometime, but will be in no hurry to do so. read more

We ordered a rainbow roll, drunken noodles and beef curry soup. The beef curry soup had great flavor and nice tender beef. The noodles were a great addition. The rainbow roll was nothing to write home about, but nonetheless good. The drunken noodles unfortunately were wayyy too saucy. I should have ordered some rice to eat it with after but that's ok. After several visits, it's safe to say this place is overall better than average. Their sweet and sour chicken along with general Tsos is really fantastic. That being said, there are a few things that aren't that good. First , their fried rice is pretty oily and has a weird flavor/aroma too it. It's almost peanut buttery. Very weird. While I didn't order it this time around, their Lo Mein is loaded with onions. And the last thing is rather trivial but irks me. They don't provide any duck sauce with their meals. You must purchase a rather small portion for $.55. Is it good? Absolutely delicious. This last visit, I paid for 2 but the receipt on the bag reflected only one. Guess they got me for $.55. Massively annoying. Could easily be 4.5 starts if not for the rice and duck sauce. read more

Delicious sushi! I really enjoyed my meal: the Spicy California Maki, Philadelphia Maki and Spicy Tuna Maki with Miso Soup. I used Yelp to order my delivery, and the only downside was that I wasn't notified when it arrived. I did go outside eventually and find it there, still yummy and fresh. Overall 4/5! I was left disappointed after seeing the 4 star rating and good reviews. I had ordered the appetizer combo (crab Rangoon's, chicken fingers and dumplings) with fried rice. I also ordered the beef entree combo (Szechuan beef with vegetables). There was barely any filling in the crab Rangoon. The Chicken fingers had a weird after taste. The lunch menu left a little to be lacking. The sweet-and-sour chicken was greasy and was fried and something that had a bit of an odd taste. The fried rice really had no depth of flavor and was bland. However, the dumplings were phenomenal and the sauce was good. I was charged additional monies for Duck Sauce and I didn't get any so a bit of a quality check on the delivery. I will say that the dinner menu doesn't usually percent this way, so I'm not sure if it was just the lunch. read more

I used to live closer to Lotus Express, so I'd go every so often. I hadn't been in a few years, so I was happy when I found myself back in the area near lunch time. I grabbed myself an order of tofu, veggies, and rice with red curry. So good! The tofu pieces were HUGE, and nice and crispy on the outside. The veggies were fresh, perfectly steamed... the curry was so creamy with the exact amount of spice level I like. (Medium spice). The order was so large, I could barely eat half. I saved the rest for dinner, and shared with my husband. Was just as delicious the second time around, even after being reheated in the microwave. Their food is as consistently as fresh and tasty now as it was when I was a more frequent customer, and I highly recommend it! read more

COVID 19 takeout review: Literally the worst food I've had in a very long time. I ordered the drunken noodles and it tasted like a drunk chef was in the kitchen. No flavor, old vegetables and over cooked noodles. There was a weird smell like something had spoiled at the bottom of the dish. My boyfriend ordered the red curry and it was so watery. One line: quality Asian comfort food in Somerville! Stopped by today for lunch with a few friends and I was immediately impressed with how clean this place was! There are about 5-6 small tables and a bar facing the street. The menu has everything from Thai, Chinese, and sushi, with a number of beef, chicken, and fish options. I went with the Orange Sesame Chicken--normally 9.25, but I ordered the lunch combo for 8.25 which included veggie fried rice and a choice of appetizer (spring roll, dumpling, or crab rangoon--I went with crab rangoon). The food came in 5 minutes or less and the presentation was really impressive--the appetizers came on little individual dishes and the rice was arranged nicely. The chicken was tender and some pieces were crispy on the outside. The sauce was thick, sweet, and very rich. The rice was a nice texture but a bit dry (however, it may have just felt like that because I'm used to oily rice...) I LOVED the crab rangoon. It was perfectly crisp and so tasty--also incredibly filling. 3 hours later and I can't imagine being hungry anytime soon. The service was excellent: very responsive and quick. I don't know what to say because everything but the soups was horrible. The drunken noodles were just horrific. Absolutely flavorless. The general gao's chicken was passable but severely lacking any salt, the broccoli was overcooked and the sauce was watery. I poured golden mountain sauce all over it to salvage it. But the wonton soup was great! When I smelled it in the car, I could tell it was going to be delicious. The hot and sour soup was pretty flavorful too, though not particularly sour. However, the order didn't come with any utensils or napkins--this is was okay to us from an environmental standpoint, but just FYI for other yelpers. We ordered the Spicy Szechuan Beef and Family Style Spicy Fish dinner combos. Both needed salt and lacked much flavor (although reasonably spicy). Somewhat too greasy. The basa fish fillets were incredibly tender, the Szechuan peppercorns were fragrant but not numbing, and the overall flavor was oily but not greasy. The server would remove the chilies after serving, so there was no need to worry about the spiciness. Beef Fillets & Cabbage with Hot Chili Sauce水煮牛肉: Redder and spicier than the boiled fish. The Szechuan people present commented that this was the only dish with flavor. The beef was very tender; although you could taste the tenderizing powder, it wasn't a big problem. Scallions and Szechuan peppercorns contributed much to the fragrance. Pork Intestine with Preserved Vegetable酸菜大腸: Surprisingly, it tasted like... Hakka cuisine? The pork intestines were cut on the thicker side, not the usual kind, but the slightly sour and spicy flavor with a light thickening was just right. Spicy Frog in Fried Pot乾鍋牛蛙: Despite the name, there was a lot of sauce; the bullfrog meat was too tough and chewy. Not recommended. Ma Po Tofu (With minced pork)麻婆豆腐: Very delicious! The tofu was very tender, and the Sichuan peppercorns were very fragrant. Duck with Peking Plum Sauce京醬鴨片: The duck meat was mushy and lacked texture, and the Beijing plum sauce was heavily diluted. I had a feeling of not knowing what I had eaten. Sichuan Spicy Dumpling紅油水餃: I loved them!! The dumplings were large, the filling was generous, and the skin was on the thicker side, giving them a good chewy and firm texture. Besides the chili oil and peanuts, there was a hint of vinegar, which was very refreshing. Steamed Juicy Pork Bun小籠包: The restaurant claims they are handmade daily. Plenty of soup filling, but slightly oily; the skin was chewy but not dry, unfortunately one was broken. If this isn't the case for most places, then Fuchun Ju excels in its fillings, while Zoe's excels in its skins; both are comparable and worth trying.

As a party of four, we were seated promptly in a booth and asked for our choice of broth and menu (classic for their standard variety of meats, premium for even more options). We chose the classic menu and the half-and-half broth to have one side with spicy and one side without. Their non-meat ingredients bar was clean and had a great variety of veggies, tofu, and seafood items, and was kept well stocked while we were there. Servers were attentive to refilling our broths and taking additional orders for meat. All four of us left with full bellies and a great experience. What a great dinner/activity to assemble and cook your own plates of delicious food while chatting with your friends or family. Will definitely be back ever again!
