After a long drive home from the Cape, my brother ordered delivery (General Gao's and Lo Mein (plus beef)) from here. It took an hour and 10 minutes to deliver. The Lo Mein was bland and only included mushrooms, onions and lettuce? It didn't even contain Lo Mein noodles. Instead the noodles were thin and the addition of beef was lacking. The chicken was good but the quantity was small (especially for the price) and it only came with a tiny box of rice!! This was definitely not enough food for two people even though two entrees were ordered. Overall the food was okay (way better Chinese food out there that's cheaper or with larger portions) but definitely not worth the delivery time which I felt was borderline unacceptable. I ordered off Uber Eats from here and it was a great choice. Reasonable price for sushi with a great quality. I got the Crazy Maki that was $7.95, which was tasty. You could tell the sushi chef knew what he was doing. Then I got the Avocado and Cucumber Maki that was $4.95, which was a great price for 6 pieces of sushi. I can't even count the number of times I've ordered takeout/delivery from this place! I've never been disappointed. I think my housemates and I have tried almost everything on the menu and we have specific sets of orders that correspond to our mood. The quality is always top-notch. I think my favorite two entrees are the Basil Chicken with Chinese Eggplant and Garlic sauce and the Shanghai Crispy Noodles. Lotus has plenty of great vegetarian options available and they are very filling (examples: General Gao's Tofu and the Vegetarian Delight). I appreciate the ability to indicate the spiciness level on most items since I have a low tolerance and others really like spicy food. In the over 20 times we've ordered, I don't think they have messed up any of them. This place is great, if you don't know what you want to eat or you just don't feel like cooking, the food here will always make you happy. P.S. Love this place. They've got surprisingly good Chinese food and I like how clean it is (not that I've ever eaten there, I always get this delivered). More surprising is that their sushi is decent. I've never gotten anything that wasn't fresh, though I'm not saying that the quality is top notch or anything. My favorite things here are the general gau's tofu or the broccoli with garlic sauce (vegetarian skewed opinion) but I've actually never had anything from here that I didn't like. On day two for Lotus Xpress, I came away mightily impressed. I wasn't sure what to expect given its pan-Asian menu (which can be a good sign but to me often isn't) and the unexpected recommendations from the manager (General Gao's Chicken, crab rangoons), but I'm confident that I would have been as impressed by those dishes as I ended up being by the Szechuan Beef and Szechuan spicy wontons that I got -- one entree and one appetizer that were enough to feed my girlfriend and me with leftovers (though admittedly we are light eaters). The meat in the Szechuan Beef was tender and delicious, cooked with scallions, onion, chilies, and potatoes that stayed pleasingly firm and picked up lots of flavor from the spices. The wontons were appropriately smothered in chili oil and chili paste, served with bean sprouts and a little ma-la-inducing. I can only speak to a sliver of the Chinese portion of the menu, gotten as carry-out, and can report that it's American Chinese food done right. On top of that, I had a great conversation during the brief wait for the food with Allen, the manager, who's a very friendly person. They serve American style Chinese and Japanese, order at the counter and then take a seat and wait. You would never know that this place used to be a KFC, the remodel of this place gives it a very modern feel. General Gau's Chicken - This is not your mall sample version of General Gau's Chicken. Perfectly crunchy, not overly fatty. The sauce it was coated with was perfectly seasoned and it even had fresh orange peel slices in the sauce. Pineapple Shrimp - Coated in a similar batter as the boneless Chinese chicken tenders we all love. This was eh. The amount of rice included with the chicken is about 1.5 servings. The chicken is 2 relatively small servings. I suppose that's not a crime on it's own, but it was surprising. The taste overall was lacking. The vegetables in the lo mein were zucchini and mushrooms. It's the first time I've personally seen button mushrooms in asian style takeout. The chicken was spicy in the first bite but that turned out to be because I'd bitten a pepper, after that there was no spice (we ordered "spicy") It doesn't really matter to me, but the poster who commented on the stale fortune cookies was absolutely right. Overall it's not horrible but we wouldn't get it again. I would have been happier with it if they'd just left out the white rice and stale fortune cookies. read more

Szechuan spicy beef was a boss! Not for people sensitive to spicy food. It's has a really nice kick and the veggies were cooked to perfection. Crab Rangoons were cream cheesy and crispy. The crab was...hell I don't know. Pork Dumplings. Delicious and nutritious. Probably not nutritious but they were yummy. If ordering take out, you should probably heat them up again before devouring. I recently decided to give them another try and I must say their take out was terrible. I was truly surprised as the last few times were beyond great for takeout expectations and delicious and fresh. The sushi was not properly rolled and broken, the scallion pancakes weren't cooked through and soggy (really upset me the most!) and the druken noodles were just one stuck together pile of flat noodles. I would come back to Lotus Xpress but not for the Sushi or the thai iced tea. I ordered a spicy tuna maki and a spicy salmon maki and a Thai iced tea. For the sushi, i was a tad disappointed because there was more filling (tempura flakes) than tuna and salmon in the rolls. When i ate it, my mouth was just full of the tempura flakes than fish but for the price of $4-6 for a roll i guess you get what you pay for. The thai iced tea was okay but not great, it tasted watered down and extremely sweet.. it also lacked the bright orange color thai iced tea usually looks so maybe they make it differently here. It lacked the creaminess and tasted like they just steeped a tea bag and added some sugar. The guy on the other end was not welcoming at all and felt like he was in a hurry. Ordered a chicken lo mein and oh boy was it mediocre. It was bland and the chicken was nonexistent. Had to drown it in Sriracha to even eat it. Most of the dish is just giant pieces of onions and lettuce. Just finished eating it and half my plate is onions. This is one of my favorite spots to order from in my neighborhood. They do add a lot of fish sauce/oyster sauce/bento flakes to dishes and consider it vegetarian, which is my biggest issue with ordering here. After being told things didn't have fish products in it I ate it and then was told by another employee that they did in fact contain fish. I'm vegan so this disturbed me deeply. So I took a break from eating here for a bit. It's very important to tell people who are ordering vegetarian if there are fish products in food as #1 fish is not a vegetable #2 people are allergic to seafood Once I was given chicken instead of tofu for take out so also, check your orders before you head out. If you're looking for a big helping of tuna or salmon or a combo with an amazing Lotus sauce, some avocado, scallions, cucumber, lettuce, and sesame seeds, get here now! We ordered our food on Christmas day, and were greeted (in name!) by the staff as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. I assumed I was the only person who had ordered that afternoon, but really, they were filling tons of orders form all the hotels in the area. Aside from the personable staff, Lotus Xpress is well organized when you call, and just as organized when you pick up. The food was delicious: their lunch special isn't huge BUT it comes with a lot of rice and a little appetizer (we had crab rangoons). I ordered dumplings and the spicy California roll. The dumplings were great but the California roll wasn't what I expected: the crab has a texture like tuna salad. I would order here any time! read more
