Perfection in a pie
Todd P.

Perfection, as always! Nothing compares to Lou's classic deep dish with sausage and extra cheese! First time at this location and it has a great vibe with friendly and attentive staff. The manager even checked on us before and after the pizza came and the waitress was on top of drink refills and menu suggestions. Can't wait to return!

Really delicious deep dish pizza and some tasty cocktails. Good decor and comfy Oak Park surroundings.

Pizza to go
Steven B.

This will be a fairly short review; I was in Chicago for the Frank Lloyd Wright Plus tour in Oak Park, so after finishing the tour I wanted to get a deep dish pizza before I headed out of town. Reviews of Lou Malnati's were good so I ordered a pizza to go using the website. Lou Malnati's Oak Park is located on the main drag of Lake Street near to Unity Temple; the restaurant is cool looking inside, very retro, dark and industrial. The takeout is located all the way in the back, by the parking lot, my pizza was ready and I got dried peppers and cheese along with a plate. On the way to my car I grabbed a seat at a bench nearby and enjoyed the pizza. I got a small the "Lou", a deep dish with spinach, mushrooms, garlic and tomato slices. The pie was delicious, the crust was good and the toppings and cheese were excellent. I ate about 1/4 of the pie before hitting the road and finished off the rest over the next couple days and actually enjoyed it even more since I liked the more well done version when I reheated the pizza. I really enjoyed the "Lou", an excellent version of a vegetarian deep dish pizza. a strong recommendation for Lou Malnati's.

Waited at the front door a long time before I got sat a lady came in and the same thing happened the servers were in the back chatting not paying attention to the floor Service was BAD my server didn't ask if everything was fine never came around just dropped the food and walk away to be honest I was very disappointed Never eat there, food was good

Despite that I usually go to the original in lincolnwood I was just too tired to drive that far. I have been to the Oak Park location and it's decent if not good. One thing I noticed for like the carryout locations for Lou malnati's the crust of the Chicago classic feels like you're eating a pretzel with butter. Hopefully Oak Park doesn't fail to do that despite being a newer location cuz they say it's the equipment similar to a cast iron frying pan where they say it gets better with age on the equipment they used to making the delicious buttery Pizza. Service was pretty friendly and quick. Ambience in this place is a lot more modern than feeling like a sports bar like at the one in Lincolnwood. Again I did not want to drive there despite that I like eating at the one in lincolnwood since I came from work but it was a tough choice between polish buffet and Lou malnati's but didn't want to travel all the way to Lincolnwood. This was closer to home however I did notice a difference for the Chicago classic here. You see when they put the sausage patties it's a lot bigger in the pizza. Another thing usually but they stop doing that even in the Lincolnwood location is they would put a plate to keep the pizza nice and hot they stop doing .

Indoor decor

First time having deep dish pizza, Chicago-style and it didn't disappoint. I've been dreaming about this pizza for 5 years and finally got to experience it FRESH!!! We came in a little after opening time, 11:30am, on a Tuesday. The server was attentive. We had a small cheese/pepperoni deep dish and small black olives/bell peppers deep dish. The small is, I think, the perfect size for good portion size and 1 piece leftover. All the toppings and tomato sauce tasted fresh and delicious. It takes about 30-35 mins for the pizza so don't come in a rush. I would definitely come back again!!

Thin Crust Margherita Pesto Pizza

Thin crust margarita pizza is awesome. The cheese so gooey and the pesto on top is so good. Love this one - believe it's limited time only so go get yours. I did pick up and the service is always friendly and prompt. All staff are friendly. Ambiance is just classic pizza joint in Chicago with great pies and friendly staff.

The most amazing combo! Everyone needs to try this. We picked up from the Oak Park location, it's 50/50 at best when it comes to service but the food always hits the spot.

Covered outdoor seating is impervious to weather.

I love the new Buffalou Chicken Pizza! Spicy and unique we enjoyed it. Will try this limited time pizza a few more times.

Went to Chicago to try the pizza. Their pizza unimpressive and so was the service. On top of that, it was noisy and an uncomfortable environment. I probably will not be back.

Great patio and beer. No server in sight though...

The bread service was fantastic. The tomato focaccia and the baguette were both excellent and I had to remind myself not to fill up on it before the main meal! LOL! We started with the calamari which was very well seasoned and clearly not the typical frozen version you often see from foodservice distributors. It tasted fresh, was crispy, and well prepared. For dinner I ordered the margherita pizza which was simple and delicious. I ended up ordering a second one to-go for my partner who couldn't make it to dinner. He also loved it - even after it sat for ~30 min or so while we chatted more, then drove home to the Maywood area. I would imagine their delivery is pretty good based on that! My mom had the rigatoni vodka with added crumbled Italian sausage which she loved, and my dad ordered the Marcelino. He loved the generous amount of seafood and how well seasoned it was. My parents are big wine drinkers and my dad was especially impressed with the wine list and the selection available. Oscar was an incredible server!! He struck the perfect balance of being attentive while still letting us enjoy a relaxed, unhurried evening. The support staff and food runners were also fantastic and very friendly, making the entire service experience feel polished! I also loved the kitchen was more open which gives you confidence in the quality and care that goes into the food. The dining space is inviting with a nice bar area and an additional room that looks perfect for busy nights or private gatherings. Overall a great restaurant that we would absolutely return to!!

We tried the bruschetta, shrimp appetizer, chicken Marsala, chicken piccata, clam pasta, and seafood paella. Only person who walked away truly satisfied was the person who ordered the paella. Oh, and we ordered a pasta for the table but it was too undercooked and not saucy like kinda dry for a pasta dish.

I'd say attire is a bit dressier than your casual wear given the vibes. Complimentary bread and oil with Parmesan cheese to start. The bread was warm and moist, not hard like most Italian bread I've had. APPS: I would definitely recommend the calamari and meatballs for appetizers. Calamari was perfectly breaded and tender, not chewy like most, and came with 3 dipping sauces. The meatballs were moist and covered in cheese and meat sauce. Entrees: the rigatoni bolognese was the fan favorite of the table! Also had the beet salad and pork tenderloin and all of them were 10/10. Dessert: Tiramisu, salted caramel gelato, and fried donuts. All of the them were great, especially the fried donuts that come complimentary for buying a dessert. I was somewhat surprised by how good they were with the gelato. Service was quick and great, no complaints. Looking forward to coming back in the summer and sitting on the patio. Think this will be my new favorite Italian spot in Oak Park!

I live in Buena Park, and I have driven down Irving Park Road, passing this restaurant one hundred times, but never gave it much thought. The space was originally a pizza restaurant called Hearth & Crust and owned by the same people. From what I understand, they closed their original Bueno Terra restaurant in Logan Square and reopened it in this Hearth & Crust space. In fact, the Hearth & Crust logo is still etched into the glass at the inner front of the restaurant. The restaurant was packed, especially with families, but they sat us in a semi-private, glass-enclosed room at the front of the restaurant. The sliding windows were open to the sidewalk and Irving Park Road. That kept the room pleasantly cool, but it was noisy. I could not hear anyone talk except the people sitting right next to me. We had one waiter assigned to our table--someone who knew the people in our group who frequent Bueno Terra--and he was personable and attentive. For the table, we ordered the arancini and fried calamari. Both were excellent. For my entrée, I ordered the Melanzana alla Emilia Romagna--eggplant medallions with a crunchy almond crust served with tomato basil sauce and topped with caramelized onions and goat cheese. Kind of a play on eggplant parmesan, but richer and better. My friends said that they often order it as an appetizer. It was unusual and delicious--I loved it. I do not drink alcohol, but I ordered a Berry Lemonade--strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry muddled with lemon soda. It was tart but refreshing. Platters were served with mixed of desserts--tiramisu, cheesecake and profiteroles. All excellent. The service and food were both great and we all had a wonderful time. Although it doesn't look like much driving past Irving Park Road, Bueno Terra is a gem that I highly recommend.
