I took it to another mechanic down the street for a quick second opinion, and the other mechanic said that it should both easily pass. I looked up the actual regulation on the website, went back, and they argued my case. I still ended up paying more than I should've throughout the whole thing. I came to Loudoun Auto Repair for an oil change. They called to tell me that I had rust on my car battery and that they would remove the rust for a $50 charge. I said that was fine. A few weeks later, I looked under the hood only to see that the rust had returned. I wondered if it was ever removed in the first place. A few months later, my battery totally died and I had to replace it entirely. Rather than charging me for rust removal, it would have been useful for them to let me know that my battery was getting old and likely in need of replacement within the next year or so. Based on this experience, I do not trust them to do more work on my car. I will go to Casey's Auto. They're reliable. read more

I should have known better than to let my wife get a car inspection here. She was talked into brakes at $150 more than the shop down the street. They saw their mark. Not only was the brake job inflated, they told her they had to also charge her $6.95 to replace each lug nut (x 10 lug nuts) because they were "tight." She started to get suspicious that she was being taken for a ride and when she went to pay with her debit card they added a $20 transactional fee. I work in banking and interchange fees for debit are typically .3% (credit is higher). That would have been about $1.88 interchange for this transaction - they charged her $20.00! Avoid this place unless you like being taken for a ride. read more

This business is a rip off. I recently had my 2013 Porsche Boxster in for some routine maintenance. This included an oil change, State inspection, and emissions test. They charged me $213 for the oil change, this included $79.99 in labor. I expect to pay more because of the make and model but by comparison, the same oil change at another garage only cost me $137 and the labor charge was only $25.50. The State inspection and emission test rates are fixed so they could only charge me $20 for the State inspection and $28 for the emission test. However, they determined my side-marker turn signal light bulbs were faded so they replaced the two light bulbs for $131.57 ($3.98 for the lightbulbs and $127.59 for labor). To add insult to injury, they add an additional 3.5% to the invoice if you use a debit or credit card. I wish I would have read the existing Yelp reviews before taking my car to this place. Beware - they are going to charge far more than other shops. Brought my car in when the check engine light came on - diagnostics charged at $107. Turns out a family of squirrels had move into the engine. They cleaned that mess up and replaced only one 02 upstream air sensor for $300, which is high but not absurd. Unfortunately, that did not fix the issue and the check engine light is back on in less than 24 hours. They planned to charge me another $100+ dollars for further diagnostic so I took my car elsewhere. Then there was the horn. I was quoted over $300 to replace the defective horn. I got a second opinion, paid $60 and have a working horn. I had also asked that a bulb be replaced while the bumper was off for the horn diagnostic. That request was completely ignored. Honestly, I should have read the previous reviews and saved myself some $$. Positive note: Sammy was pleasant to deal with. read more

On a lucky first try, based on Google reviews, I took my vehicles to Sammy. I was impressed with the customer service even more than the mechanical work performed. Sammy ALWAYS goes the extra mile and I trust him to do what's best for my vehicles and my wallet. Being capable of turning a wrench, I am critical of any work done on my cars. Both the mechanics and the managers work together to scam the customers. Went for an emissions check and they said my car wasnt communicating with their device, and they could "diagnose it" for $100. I told them no and took it to catoctin auto. Catoctin auto doesn't do emissions which is why i went here in the first place. Catoctin will actually take it to Loudoun auto to get it done for you if you're one of their customers. Lo and behold, when catoctin auto took the same car to get it done the next day, they had no problem doing it and it passed. These guys must have 10 iq to be scamming Government inspections and will probably get nailed sooner or later. read more

It was also nice to support a local friendly small business and was a win-win that I also did not have to pay the high overhead cost of a dealership or larger corporation type of shop. I had my inspection done here first and it went okay. One of the mechanics when out of his way to help me figure out what I needed to be done. Because of the good results and good ratings I took it back into to do some 100k millage work. All went well, until they were trying to sell me on extra work. Spark plugs okay, they should be done at the 100k mark for my car, but then he was telling me the batter was shorting on the hood. I knew this wasn't the case and declined. I popped the hood later and the batter mount was fine, etc., and there was no way in hell it was shorting because there is a liner above where there is no bare metal et al. Don't appreciate them trying to make up repairs for non-existent problems. read more

There are other honorable, legal auto shops in the NOVA area for state inspections -- don't go to this one. Came in for a state inspection late October. The Loudoun Auto Repair auto shop said they could take me in right away on a Saturday. I waited for an hour for the state inspection to be done (note: I'm the only customer there for the inspection) They came out with an estimate of $600 to replace the entire front bearing hub assembly since my wheel bearings had "play" I went to another auto shop to get a second opinion, and the auto mechanic, state inspector, and the manager all agreed there was no bearing "play" on my vehicle whatsover. Loudoun Auto Repair tried to scam me out of $600 for a fake issue. My one regret about going to this place is not following through in filing a state police report on this shop that takes advantage of their inspection certification to get more money on false repairs. read more

This place is HORRIBLE. We had our car towed there, the crooked owner said he would "help us out" and give us a "deal". When we agreed to leave the car there and have them fix it he screwed us. The repair was done incorrectly then we got the "too bad" from the owner. We are still fighting with them to get our money back for the "repair" they did not do. If AAA tells you to go there RUN. Do not have your car brought there. Bad business, bad owner, bad repairs. There are plenty of other repair places. Save yourself the hassle!! Awful service. They inflate the prices and are completely dishonest. We had to tow our car to that place (it was the closer when it broke down) and we got an estimate for the repair. We decided to call a few other places and they all gave us a much cheaper estimate. Since we didn't want to tow our car again, we offered to provide the parts but then they gave us a more expensive price. We got a lot of pressure over the phone telling us we could not leave the car in their parking lot for much longer unless we fix it there because they had no space. We had to finally have it repaired there. We'll never come back again. By looking at the bill they just fixed the numbers to reach the estimate that they gave us. The parts and the labor were like 50% more of what we got from other repair shops. DON'T GO THERE! read more

After a dreadful experience with a chain, and the prospect of hideously expensive visit to the dealer I found these guys. Yeah, no. Charged me $50 to install a fog light bulb. He said it was because of the "location ". It takes literally two minutes. I hope ripping me off was worth it, I'll never be back and they get (another) bad Yelp review. Quit stealing from people, it's bad for business! From the top: I took my car there after a random tire bounced into my bumper on 495. Insurance claim. They replaced the bumper, but not the left fog light that was punched out by the tire. So I brought it back. They then install the left fog light and inform me the right fog light has no bulb. I wonder how it got that way? Oh yeah, the mechanic took it out when the bumper was replaced. Went in for inspection and failed. Was told I needed new brake pads and rotors. The reason was for front brakes not making full contact. The invoice I have does not state the thickness of the pads. They wanted to charge over $500 so I declined wanting a second opinion since the car has only 40,000 miles. I purchased my own rotors and brakes and took them to another mechanic and was told there was nothing wrong with the brakes. They reinspected and passed them right away. These guys are great! Took my car in because it wouldn't start. They had it diagnosed and then fixed the very next day. I was expecting days! These guys are very friendly, and really take the time to explain things. Love them! Update. It's now been a week and still no car. Took it back same day (last Saturday) to get tires put on. Car wouldn't start, part that was replaced burnt out and no one has any idea why. This is very discouraging. Let me tell you a little story. I am an avid car person. I know a good amount of car knowledge but not ALL. This is the most dishonest car repair shop I have ever encountered. They straight up lie about what needs to be done to your car and advise of other "issues" that are related to the initial issue you brought your car to them for. I truly believe that this shop has scammed a number of customers including myself. We brought two of our cars here for separate issues. One for non-working AC unit and another for a non-working AC unit and an issue (nonrelated to AC). This guy tells me all this nonsense about everything needed for my car and me being a full time working mom in the office and home, I just needed my car back and working. Bill? $2,500 and change. This I will take the blame for as I was not in a place to argue or discuss or research. I'm here to review and to help YOU avoid this place. You're welcome in advance. Then I got the same song and dance about my second vehicle telling me I needed a WHOLE new unit to get the AC working etc. I simply couldn't afford another $2k bill so I said pass and went along the summer with no AC. Finally I have freed up some time on my week off and decided I couldn't take the no AC in this car even though summer was nearing an end. So I took the car to my regular shop (whom is much slower about getting back to me but more importantly is HONEST!). Turns out I just needed a small replacement part and the whole job cost under $200, parts and labor. I was furious to hear that I was being told I need $2k worth of parts and labor when it was a simple AFFORDABLE fix AND that I went through the summer with no AC. So unbelievable that a business would run like this in a great town like Leesburg. You better believe I will never recommend your shop to ANYONE I know and will be sharing my experience with the community. I probably don't even need to do that seeing how you are likely digging your own grave in the business. They have a coupon for $49.95 (synthetic) but that ONLY counts if you have that weight oil. 10 minutes later they call me - for YOU it will be $93 - for an oil change?!?!?!?. Dealer would have been cheaper. Could have at least given me a comparable discount. Whatever, I was off work that day and needed it done - so I had them do it. They did it fast, which is why they get 2 stars instead of 1. But they also under-inflated the tires (probably because the tech was told set all tires to 32 PSI - my car has higher PSI rating and different front and back. Pricing is NOT fair and reasonable, and the fact that they screwed up the tire pressure is inexcusable. I don't write a lot of reviews, but this place is off my list for car service. read more

My left front diff seal leak was leaking. The mechanic inspected and said the axle had popped out a bit, and that was probably only thing needed was to pop it back in. The work order charged me for a seal and replacement. At home, I checked the grease level as the work order did not show grease added. It was very low, 1/3 full maybe. Noticed that the seal area was undisturbed, the bolts on the axle tube were untouched and covered in grime and grease. I suspect the axle was reseated, but the office charged me for replacing the seal. I had to go back Friday to get grease added to the front diff, and I was charged additional for that. That shows the shop's work estimate did not include adding grease after 'replacing the seal'! That is unprofessional. There is not enough detail on the bill to show work done, and part number of part used, etc.. They give a terse job description, followed by the charge. They should give the detail other shops do. The mechanics were OK, no complaints about them. But I paid to have the seal changed, and I don't believe they did that. There is something is wrong with the way he charges the customers. Too bad this did not work out as it is good to have a reliable shop open on Saturdays. read more
