The overall broth and soup was good but the dumpling was something to be desired.

Dumplings in soup not cooked through. Raw dough in the middle. Everything else has been good.

Louie's is a staple in Waukegan, I've driven past this place so many times and finally gave it a try. I called in for a pick-up order. I got a small cheese pizza and their bag of bread. One side is a restaurant, and the other is where you pick up your orders. I was held right away, and my food was ready with the time they gave me. Let me tell you, the bag of bread is addictive. I started eating them on the way home and barely had self-control to save room for pizza. I liked their cheese pizza. Their dough is delicious, and the cheese was plenty. If a place can make a tasty cheese pizza, I trust them. One day, I'll have to come back and try some more items on the menu and maybe even dine in.

We were in the area and had Louie's on our Yelp list of places to try. We were seated right away and they brought us a basket of bread. It was hot and fluffy on the inside. We ordered the broasted chicken dinner and sausage pizza. Both were delicious. Stacy was outstanding. Will definitely be going back.

I went to Louie's with some friends. I ordered a salad and cheese pizza for the table. I wasn't the biggest fan of the salad, it came with lettuce, red onion, beets, and ranch dressing. The cheese pizza was the one that stole the show. The inside pieces of the cheese pizza was so tasty, the crust was a little more crispy than I normally like. The service was awesome, our server did an amazing job waitressing everyone in the restaurant, and was still able to tend to our needs. Inside the restaurant there is plenty of room for seating, party room in the back, and slots on the right of the restaurant. Over all I had a great time.

We love the Greek salad! I always order the angel on horseback. My husband loves their Italian beef. It's one of our favorite restaurants.

Now let's talk about the appetizer... the shrimp with the Parmesan crust? 10/10. Easily the star of the night. We also shared a bottle of Riesling, which was only about $24, making it super affordable. Service was lovely. The staff checked in just enough without being overbearing, and they even surprised us with a birthday brownie, which was such a sweet touch. The ambiance was also really nice -- one of those versatile spots where you can dress it up or keep it casual. I had on a tailored sweatsuit, my sister wore jeans, and we still felt perfectly in place. It's definitely a spot you could come to for a date night, family dinner, or even a corporate happy hour. Overall, our bill came out to around $160, which felt completely worth it for the quality, service, and experience. I'd absolutely come back.

Great flavor, perfectly balanced toppings, and definitely something I'd order again. We also tried the wings. I'd probably skip those next time. The sauce was just okay, and the wings themselves weren't as crispy as you'd expect. They tasted more like frozen wings than fresh. If that doesn't bother you, you might be fine -- but they didn't stand out. Our waiter was attentive, and the overall vibe is classic Quonset -- the smell of pizza in the air, cold beer, and friendly staff. Solid spot for pizza, just maybe not the wings.

Never timed it but it doesn't ever seem like a long wait and the product is a landmark of consistency. 12", $13.50 now. $4.50-$5.50 in the late 1970's. I've lived around here in stretches now and again for 50+ years and this place is always the same as it was when I was in high school. For a small, independent bar-pizza joint, that's really impressive. But this place deserves some kind of a plaque. The small cheese pizza these folks put out today is photo-level consistent with what they put out in 1970. Ordinarily I would accept that I may have a little wishful brain fog about the crust and the sauce and the cheese being identical but that's also what I see when I look at comments. So, I may pick one up this afternoon. What's described as the cracker style crust holds up pretty well but it's still best all-around when eaten in the store. Haven't eaten one while sitting at the bar right after it came out of the oven in a long time but if I order it when I get there, 1 diet Pepsi later I'm walking out the door. That's pretty close.

This is a no-frills Italian restaurant, but the waiter Jackson was very attentive and the wait staff was on point with refills of water and taking things away from the table. My lemoncello lemon drop martini was very tasty and same with my French martini and also fairly priced for the area. The fried cheese ravioli appetizer was fantastic! The sauce that came with it (possibly a vodka sauce) was delicious. This is a must try at this restaurant! The chicken gnocchi soup was fantastic (but a little on the runny side). The chicken Parmesan (that was recommended) was moist and delicious and ample for two people. The shrimp scampi pasta was too bland. It needed garlic/more garlic, but also ample it for two people, and it came with five large pieces of shrimp. The homemade tiramisu was light and delicious. I look forward to trying their homemade manicotti or lasagna next time (that was recommended by the waiter). I will definitely be back to this restaurant!

The servers got our drink orders, and I got a Blueberry Mint N/A cocktail that was on the sweeter side. Most people got the same exact drink which most people enjoyed! With the set menu, we each enjoyed an appetizer, main course, and gelato for dessert: SOUP OF THE DAY Between soup and salad, I almost always go with soup. The soup of the day was broccoli cheddar. It came out piping hot, which I really enjoyed. The soup was creamy and salty, with a good blend of both broccoli and cheddar flavors. LIGUINI & CLAMS (WHITE SAUCE) Clams were not washed thoroughly, so there was some grittiness in some of them. There was an abundant of linguini pasta, topped with minced clams, parsley, and other aromatics. The white wine sauce was really loose and didn't stick onto the linguini well. While the aromatics helped, it was still a bit bland. I think having a spoon to scoop up the sauce to enjoy the linguini would have been nice, but the sauce itself was on the lighter side in terms of flavor. This was just okay. GELATO Light and refreshing vanilla gelato, this was a good way to end the meal. However, I don't really remember too much about it so it probably wasn't exceptional nor terrible. Overall, service was really slow. We got seated around 5:15, but our first course didn't come out until an hour later, and our main came out 45 minutes after that. Besides the pacing issue, food was pretty average, so 3/5 it is.
