Placing dirty dishes in my face when I'm about to pay for my food...as you walk back to the kitchen to grab my pizza is wild. Pepperoni and spinach pizza. Place was doing good for a Sunday night. But... $26 bucks for a cheese-less pull deep dish pizza, eh. The taste its self, was alright, but lacked authenticity for what a deep dish should be. Why didn't I come here sooner??? From passing by on Lewis Ave, Jester's looks like a dive bar (well, yeah it is). One would probably never think amazing pizza comes out of this place! Well, it does! My boyfriend and I had the double decker with pepperoni and spinach and it did not disappoint. Our server was really friendly and attentive. The overall ambiance is nothing to write home about...it's kinda dark and dingy and old...but it was a good experience. I will 110% come back for more pizza! Pizza was good... We ate the Chicago pizza and it was tasty. Boneless wings were good also- our waitress suggested the garlic honey and it was delicious. This is not a fancy place but it is close to the Navy Recruit Training Base and the staff was very friendly. If you are looking specifically for a sit down place with linen napkins, this is definitely NOT your venue; however, if you want a place to just relax, eat and drink, it's perfect. We did not try their thin or "double decker" pizza but both looked good and the locals appeared happy with their selections. I did see someone complained on a different review about how limited the menu was- not certain what they were seeing but this place had numerous sandwiches, chicken, appetizers and pizza options- a lot more than most pizza places actually! read more

Pleasantly surprised at this place. I've always passed by but never went in so I gave it a try. I ordered for takeout. Cheese pizza and wings. I liked the pizza, thin crust was good and it was extra cheesy. The wings were meh to me. I ordered bbq wings and they were lightly sauced. I'm more of a drown my wings in sauce kind of person. The employee who took my order over the phone was friendly and when I got there it was ready. It was still hot when I got home which is always a plus. The atmosphere is kind of like a bar set up. The ingredients are really fresh and everything is well balanced and seasoned. The thin crust was substantial enough to hold up to several hefty ingredients, but not doughy. It was delightfully crispy, but had no char taste or burn. The service is good too. They take special requests accurately (examples: "easy sauce", party cut squares instead of triangle slices or vice versa, extra of this and that) and are efficient. 2018 Update: Quality of cheese and overall pizza product has decreased over past few years. Staff seems to be the same..but pizza has changed. Too bad...maybe the cooks have changed? What use to be a monthly order...is now once per year. I prefer Quanset now...their pizza has improved over the past few years. 2011 review: Quick and Dirty: Real pizza, nice flavors...sauce, toppings, etc... - not the cheapest...but worth it Jester's (aka Double D's) is easily one of my three top thin crust pizzas. Th topping are generous, the sauce, sausage, pepperoni is flavorful. They make it to my specifications...extra thin and crispy. I have only ever used the pick-up method, never have eaten in the small restaurant/bar. Seems like they have some other good deals during sporting events. Have had the jalapeno poppers and they were normal, nothing special...but not bad. When in Waukegan - people often cite Mike's, Quonset or Louie's for pizza. Wanted to give it 3.5 stars. The atmosphere: The place is extremely divey, with missing ceiling tiles and such. A few tvs showing sports, and a few slot machines. In terms of soft drinks, you won't find coke or pepsi. How about RC Cola? No real problem with the place, but you might question the cleanliness a bit. The service: Our service was pretty mediocre. When our order was taken, we mentioned we wanted our food to come out together (ordered wings, pizza, and a deep fried appetizer.) The wings and appetizer came out ~8 minutes before the pizza, and the wings were luke-warm at that point. The waitress did apologize and said that the cook missed the instruction. There were also a few times that our drinks were empty for a bit before we got service. The waitress was nice and friendly, however. The wings (hot) and pizza (double decker) were both quite tasty. I'd give them both 4 stars, even though the wings were luke-warm. No real complaints about the food. The pizza wasn't very saucy, and had a lot of cheese, but it was quite good. Worst customer service - Jester's did not honor our order and DID NOT return our cash payment. Ordered on Sunday - Super Bowl - went in person to place an order for wings! Lady with glasses - we believe her name is Ruby - took our order at 4pm on Sunday; told us to return at 6:30pm to pick-up. When we went to pick up our order, they claimed they did not have our order and would not be able to return our cash payment!!! Unbelievable! I left the restaurant as manager was not available and staff claimed to be extremely busy. We have not been able to contact the manager and no one has returned our calls. Pretty good , the bar itself is kinda old like the feeling of it but over all the food there is really good , they host this thanksgiving thing where you get to bowl with a frozen turkey and if you hit a strike you win a whole turkey , the deep dish pizza is great but their wings are beyond good read more

My family and I use to absolutely love this place. we would get pizza from here almost every Friday and sit down to watch a movie. we've had their thin crust and double decker. friends of ours would try this pizza and be jealous that the didn't have a place like this near them. Aside from the fact that my friend and I had good luck here w/ slots and little lottery tickets, I really didn't like the pizza. It tasted like cardboard and the cheese was too stringy and I feel like the sausage on the pizza wasn't done. We got the Double D. It took extremely long for the food.
