So with the assistance of Lifebooker and reading some Yelp reviews I took a leap of faith and tried Clark Nova. I lucked out with the awesome Tamara. She listened to what I wanted, and has always given me the color and cut I ask for. She really takes her time and does an amazing job. This last visit though really sealed the deal. I wanted to go even blonder than I usually do, while still looking natural, with balayage highlights. (Shocking, I'm not a natural sun-kissed blonde!) Tamara did a beautiful job with the color, and after a wash, cut and blow-dry, she said that she still wanted to brighten it up a bit, so we did a 2nd round on a few strands. I love a colorist that doesn't stop until they get it right, and appreciate that she went the extra mile to get the color we envisioned. I have gotten so many compliments on my 'new hair,' it's a little ridiculous. The salon is casual, relaxed and unpretentious. And it being in the heart of 3rd street, there's always somewhere yummy to grab lunch afterward. The salon dogs are adorable too. My hair is very short and thin and I've always had trouble growing it long, the extensions she puts in our 100% human hair, and the technique she does is the i-tip individual bonds. They are gentle on the hair and even helps my hair to grow! What I'm most impressed by is Emina's ability to blend the extensions into the natural hair, people are so surprised when I tell them that I have extensions because they look so natural. Her salon is everything I want-great people (her BFF Josh works there and is clearly adored as well), warm welcoming energy, and a parade of family, friends, and neighborhood people constantly dropping in to hang for a while. All with great style and zero pretense. I no longer live in the neighborhood, but I truly love going there and have no plans to go elsewhere. She's just that good. I should mention that I don't own a hair dryer because I somehow never learned to use one, so the fact that I have great hair is testament to her wizardry. I've done pixie cuts, long layers, a million colors, and everything in between. I feel like a badass every time I leave Goo. I trust her implicitly and rarely have input beyond "I need it off my face" because I work in medicine. Molly is at her best when you let her run free. She cut my hair today during a terrible migraine. I literally sat down, closed my eyes, and when I opened them she'd cut off six inches and it was 100% the right call. She fully understands how haircuts can mark changes in our lives and is completely invested in honoring that if you want that from her. She never lets me leave until my hair is to her perfect vision. My roots got long in the pandemic and I went in during a brief opening to deal with them. She took one look and refused to dye them, basically saying "you're going to love this, so suck it up and grow it out." I get stopped almost daily since then for my silver Furiosa waves. She's done my makeup for events. You can bring in your outfit and she'll go to town. You will look sensational. And her excitement and anticipation make it all the more fun. Molly cares deeply for people and treats you like family. I think some of her magic is that she sees her clients the way we'd like to see ourselves and then makes our hair match that vision. She has never given me a haircut I couldn't easily maintain myself, or one that didn't grow out well. I could pay triple (and have) and not get anything that even comes close. Her prices are beyond fair and she is worth so much more. I'll stop here because I look like a groupie, though that doesn't bother me. I simply am twenty years overdue on this review so there's too much praise to get it all out at once. You will be happy in her care and blissful if you stop directing and just let her do her voodoo.
