I'd say more accurately I had a 3.5 star experience here, but conservatively rounding down to 3. Solid meal option right by the beach. Parking lot in front of the shop is small. My boyfriend and I tried their shredded chicken burrito, and one of their breakfast burritos (w/ ham, bacon, egg, fries); we found both to be good but worth mentioning that their burritos are HUUUUUGE - we definitely should have split one burrito. I appreciated the small side of chips that came with our burritos and the free salsa bar. The chips were not very salty though, which would be my preference. Couldn't find a mild salsa that I loved either; note there were only 4 options and one was supposedly mild. Regardless, good enough that I would revisit if I was in the area. read more

I was a long time customer, 10 years, but the last three visits have been bad and I can't keep trying. Not only have the size of the burritos gotten so small but my go to veggie burrito twice had no cheese and no avocado! The surf and turf was also very good but the last time again no avocado and no sauce! The driest ever. Skimping to make extra money lost me as a longtime customer. read more

A friend of mine came by.with soup from Lourdes when I was sick recently and it was probably the best soup I've ever had. I have been coming here for a long time and the food is good. On my most recent visit i got my usual veggie burrito. I wad disappointed in how skimpy the filling was so I was eating mostly flour tortilla. For $8 it should be better than this. Hope it is better next time or I will have to look elsewhere. read more

Vegans and vegetarians beware!!! Came here with my husband who is not vegetarian and he ordered a California burrito, I ordered a veggie. We both got California burritos and it took me a good few bites in to realize. Oy. They were super nice but definitely took some explaining. At one point the girl even said "well not only vegetarians order the veggie burrito" as if that it's okay they served a vegetarian meat. Ultimately they ended up refunding our meal. They still get some stars because: 1. My husband ate his burrito in 5 bites and loved it 2. They had great salsa 3. They sacked up, took care of business, and refunded our meal. That being said if you are dogmatic about being a vegetarians or vegan def would NOT eat here. They cook everything on the same grill, they use the same serving utensils, etc. 100% not vegetarian or vegan friendly but great food for those meat eaters! read more

Ordered shredded beef tacos combo. Meat was reheated and dry. Taco shell tough, not crunchy. Rice was dry lukewarm. Beans were just ok. Nothing special about this meal. At least I didn't pay higher price for this meal. Haven't found a decent Mexican food restaurant near this local yet. read more

Drove 15 minutes to pick up $50+ of food only to drive home and find the order wrong. Drove back to ask for it to be corrected only to be informed we had to bring back the partially eaten wrong item in order to get the correct item- who asks for partially eaten food to be returned during COVID? Drove home, retrieved the item from the garbage and returned to ask for refund on the incorrect item. Restaurant obliged, gave refund. 1.5 hours of driving for subpar food and absolutely absurd policy. Horrible experience- gave 1 star only because there is no zero selection. read more

This place has really good California burritos, the carne asada seems pretty high quality (not a ton of chewy bits) and they use a Jack cheese that makes it really great and a little different than your average SD taco shop. read more

The food came out super fast, the cashier was really nice and friendly. The food was okay, it is nice for something small if you are in a hurry. I do really need to mention they used wayyyyy too much avocado and guac on their food, they need to use at least 50% less guac / avocado. read more

Stopped in for a burrito and got quoted $14 for a Chile relleno burrito with chicken mole! Opted for the steak and shrimp burrito for $11, and came away disappointed. Ingredients were mostly rice and little to no seasoning on any of the proteins. Adding salsa helped, but with all the amazing Mexican food in San Diego this place doesn't deserve a four star average. Sub par Mexican as there are way to many other good places in This town north to south. You do not make a pollo Asada burrito without grilling the chicken, but instead you're eating steamed chicken not grilled. read more

Remarkable doesn't do justice to the blissful experience I had during a camping trip at San Elijo right across the street. The crown jewel in my experience was the customer service. It was Sunday night on 9/16/18 around 6 or 7pm just before VG Donuts next door closed. I ordered a mole chicken burrito to go and did the unthinkable while waiting for my order. I walked over to VG Donuts to add to the mountain of culinary delight I was about to experience from Lourdes. When I returned from VG, I was greeted again with another welcoming smile by the front staff person who was obviously busy with other orders, but made sure to acknowledge my presence, remembering MY NAME and gestured to the delightful culinary gift awaiting my taste buds. Whoever that was, she's a keeper. The burrito was delicious, savory and huge. Where can you get such a spectacular meal for "taco truck" prices. Mole?! I've never seen such a burrito on a truck. There is ton of other items that I would love to try and I actually went back the next morning to try their machaca burrito. Another jewel in the crown. Mmmmm. I was a bit of a glutton and also got the rolled tacos. They were ok. Maybe the chicken ones would have better. If I am ever in the area (ack, live in LA), I will make sure to stop by. read more

I am not a fan of mexican food but popped in here because my bf wanted to. They have a great salsa bar. Reds and greens, from mild to hot with hot carrots and onions which are soft and spicy. He ordered a fish taco and chicken enchilada. I had a fish taco. There was virtually NO fish in the tacos. Maybe 2 ounces if that. He enjoyed his enchilada, refried beans and rice. I wouldn't come here again but if I liked mexican food, I may and just not order fish. The soup looked good. read more

The carne asada taco was cold by the time I ate it since all the pico and sauce they put on it are cold. Rice and beans lacked any flavor. One of our favorite breakfast places in Cardiff. We usually pick up coffee at Starbucks and then head over to Lourdes to eat. Why? See below... - Fast, good food...we've only ever had the breakfast burritos but they are excellent--not filled with useless potatoes like so many other places do - Great prices - Don't have to wait, like you have to at Pipe's - Excellent variety of salsas Only downside is that the street view isn't the greatest and the sun doesn't come around the building early enough to warm up the tables out front. read more

Let me start off by saying, look at my attached photos. The wife ordered a carne asada burrito and I ordered a California burrito. I honestly don't think we've ever had a burrito so small, unless we're talking frozen burritos... and yes, that is a hair underneath the foil-wrapped burrito. Another Mexican restaurant and another fish burrito. I was excited about this place; close to the beach, nice setup, good reviews ... all the hallmarks of an above average experience. And for the most part, it does hold up. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are a good size, and the food isn't too bad. But, my review is primarily on the fish burrito, so we focus on that. Again, impressively large burrito. The fish is battered and fried well with the tortilla wrapping the whole of it warm and nicely flakey. The slaw they mix with it is a bit dry, with a hint of heat from something unknown that was a bit overpowering at times. But, the true crime was that there was either not enough cream sauce or none at all. Nothing to balance the salt with something sweet, nothing to add a little moisture to a bed of lettuce, nothing to make the whole burrito smoother. All in all, bland taste, dry bite, not the best of fish burritos. My girlfriend had the California, which she thought was well seasoned with a good amount of nice, but poor taste to the potatoes. My son partook of the kid's bean and cheese. And while the beans were quite good, there was little cheese that a kid would love. Still, if I were judging this place on those two dishes, I may have gone upwards of four stars. But, that fish burrito ... it lingers... read more

I've had a lot of their menu items. Tops are the chicken mole plate, the soup, barbacoa taco, the Huevos rancheros & chillaquilles. All are bomb. The only thing they don't seem to do well are the burritos. I've had a few and they've never been that great. Don't ever get a "burrito bowl" either. Not good. Overall though I love this place and would recommend it highly. read more

I tried the carnitas fries here but it was super salty so that was quite a bit of a turnoff. I had to drench it with salsa to hopefully "dilute" the saltiness of the carnitas but it was barely salvageable. I also tried my friend's carne asada fries and it was more towards the salty side but it was marginally better than mine. Hope they pay a bit more attention on the taste before serving because it was way too salty. read more

Came by here for some late night eatssss! As advertised, we got the chicken soup which I would definitely come back here for. Although it can be a little salty/onion-y for some tastes, it's definitely super flavorful and great on a cold night/for a comfort meal. We also got the cali burrito, pescado tostada and mole plate. I thought my cali burrito was pretty great, had to get my fix since I was in SD! The guacamole was super fresh and the carne was tender and wasn't tendon-y at all. My friend didn't really like the tostada, she thought the fish wasn't very fresh or there just wasn't enough flavor in the dish overall. Mole-wise we've both had better so I would pass on that unless you're really craving. as always, there was a salsa bar and pickled veg. The place is pretty small and there was still quite a few people when we went prior to closing so I assume it's a hotspot for locals. Parking wise, the lot is pretty small but there's plenty of neighborhood parking nearby if that's an issue. read more

Really wanted some good Mexican food. Was disappointed. I had a taco and enchilada plate. I could tell the enchilada was microwaved because the cheese was stuck to the paper plate. The rice was cold and bland. The beans were good. I had a shredded beef taco and almost chipped my tooth on a bone in the meat. My daughter has the asada fries. It was a very healthy serving. The French fries could have been cooked a little longer to crisp them up. I felt the calibration was off on the drink machine because the Dr Pepper tasted really watered down. On a positive note, they had a really good variety of salsa on the salsa bar and the staff were super friendly. read more
