If you're looking for phony smiles, fluff and an empty wallet, don't go here. If you want one of the most knowledgeable and honest guys in the business, not interested in padding the job and bleeding the customer, Charlie is simply the guy to go to. He has been in the business for years and he will never b.s. the customer, or sell him work he knows is a waste of time and money. My car was out of service for a week and my regular mechanic didn't have anyone who could fix a drain on the battery. I went to number of shops and they simply couldn't or wouldn't do it. Charlie took the time to actually fix it and wouldn't release it until it was properly done. And it actually starts better than it ever did before. These guys are the BEST! I've been going to Lou's for years for car alarms, electric window repairs. This time I dropped off my car in the morning to remove a hands free mount for a cell phone and to check out a parasitic short that has been draining my battery. Lou's Auto Specialties is the BEST auto shop in the tri-state area! The entire staff but especially the owner is very helpful and honest with you at all times. I come out my way here because this place does not try to scam you esp. since I am a woman. One time i came in because my trunk would not open without the key. The owner took a look at it and within seconds he fixed and did not take a penny from me! My trunk had some sort of inside the trunk lock and he showed me it so I could avoid the problem. Other places would have charged me at least $50 for this and try to scam me but not this place! I come here for all my car needs, from a broken window, new car alarms, .to a new sound system. The staff and owner all know what they are doing and there is a reason why its been open for over 30 years! read more

He has replaced window motors, put in car alarms, serviced my air conditioners, had keys made, added nerf boards and window visors, radio replaced, windshield glass replaced, had engine codes analysed and reset. Last week around Sept.4, 2014, I visited Lou's Auto at Coney Island Ave to have my HID lights converted back to original factory settings, after 40 minutes of waiting he said it done, he charged me 75.00 for the job and I tip the worker 20 dollars for his time. Three days later my right head light went out and wouldn't turn on, I called the shop for 2 days and nobody answers the phone; then the left headlight went out as well; I decided to visited the shop Tues Sept. 9, after 4pm and I was told to come back tomorrow because the worker that worked on my car had already left. I visited the next day, which it's today and the worker that worked on my car drove it in, 20 minutes the guy comes out and stated he was given the wrong bulb type when he called it in and the bulb blew out as well as the wire. That I had to pay an additional 35.00 for the correct bulb. Now whats wrong with this picture?? Why would a auto shop that does this kind of job all the time don't keep a chart of which bulbs converts to what; and I'm the customer and he screwed up on my vehicle, I didn't get no apology, they wanted the money. I will never go back for no other alterations on my vehicle, they show no compassion or remorse. I had to take time off from work to take my vehicle back, I was driving with high beams on all these days, could of been stop by the cops. That place is SHIT. BAD SERVICE, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! I just pray my lights don't go out again; and if it does I'm going some place else. N.M read more

This guy Charlie's customer service skills are weak ... Drove up, parked, walked in to ask about alight bulb that I needed to replace. Said he might not have it, I said, I'll go get it at the auto supply store and you install it for me (it's a hard bulb spot to get to) .... he said, wait let me check if I have the bulb, I said I'm right outside in the car, but left me standing outside for over 15 min. First, this typical product of the neighborhood doesn't say hi or bye in a proper way, just hangs up the phone mid-sentence, like he can't hold in any longer.
