Love Haight Computers is where you buy a second-hand Apple Mac to save a few hundred dollars. If that's your plan, it's a bad one. Don't do it. Theoretically, it sounds good. You get a refurbished machine that should last a few years. What could go wrong? A lot. When you buy a Love Haight computer, you don't know what they did to the system before slapping a price tag on it. In my case, the problems arose several years later when I fell victim to a phishing attack and did a computer reset. My 13-inch MacBook Pro wouldn't update to the latest MacOS. Love Haight claimed my hard drive couldn't accept the update because it was encrypted. For the record, I never encrypted my hard drive. Nevertheless, for $200 LH unlocked the drive and reloaded the operating system. However, its support staff also changed the MacBook's serial number. That's a big deal because Apple provides many of its customer services based on the serial number. The one LH chose didn't exist in Apple's records. I discovered the serial number switch when I tried to upgrade the MacOS again. LH had installed an old version of the operating system, and I was unable to install the upgrade. LH updated the MacOS despite insisting it wasn't needed. By now, LH's advise was worthless to me. Everything was OK until I tried to trade-in the computer at the Apple Store for a new MacBook Air. My LH computer was registered to an unknown business, so Apple couldn't accept it until the business released it. I called LH support and was sent to voicemail. Honestly, I was so sick of LH's patronizing and less-than-honest staff that I told Apple to recycle the computer and I'd forego the $270 trade-in. LH's technical staff are like backyard mechanics. Both are bottom-feeders you turn to when you're short on cash. Computers play too important a role in our lives to trust them to an organization like LH. I recommend buying the computer you can afford direct from the manufacturer. Trust me, avoiding the frustration and anger from an LH computer is worth the extra cost. read more

Horrible experience. Called ahead and walked them through all of my items, they said yes to everything, so I made an appointment. When I went in to drop off my items for a quote, the appointment was not in their system, so when I arrived, James tried to turn me away. When I insisted that I had called ahead he finally registered my items and told me I should receive a quote that evening. 24 hours went by without a call, so I called them and the guy could not even find my number or name in the system although I got the list of my items via email and the number and name were correct. After searching for quite some time, he told me I would have a quote by the end of the day. Instead, someone called and said that my laptop had water damage, when it turned on just fine for me. Then he said they only took Apple products, and couldn't take my kindle, projector, or a multitude of other items they originally said to bring right in. On top of that, instead of giving me a quote he just kept asking how much I wanted for each item. I told them I was expecting a quote from them not the other way around. So he quoted me 60% less than I found at other technology places in town. Do not go here. Complete waste of timBad customer service, and shady quotes. Edit: just went back to pick up my items and Azim and his coworker decided to finish a project before just giving me back my items. Then when he finally brought my my things, my laptop miraculously worked again! The quote they had originally gave me had also almost doubled, but was still shit compared to competitors in town. Azim continued to tell me that nowhere bought water damaged laptops which is completely untrue. When I told them I was taking my business to somewhere with better customer service, and walked him through my experience, he told me "then don't over come back here" No problem. Not sure how Love Haight has 4.5 star rating. Referred here by a good friend, but am sorely disappointed. I asked if the sell price would beat the Apple trade in price. The clerk told me pretty confidently yes. While still chewing his food asked to just take the computer right then and there. As everyone knows our whole lives are on these machines, and so I needed time. I wiped the computer and brought it back thinking the computer would be worth around 1200. They said, ok will have a quote within 24 hours. Well 4 days pass and nothing so I call in, and the guy is scrambling. Says the battery is broken (it's not) same with the keyboard (also not). And proceeds to offer me $400. This is just offensive so I go to pick it up, same guy still eating gives it back, seems at least somewhat caring this time. You're better off so many other places. It just sold on a photo forum for what I thought it would, avoid this place, worse than a pawn shop. read more

I've been taking my phone here for years. The repair work is great, the staff are friendly, and there's even been a few occasions where (for a simple fix like a dirty lightning port) they didn't charge even though had they wanted to they had me dead to rights. The only negative is that I seem to break my phone when they're not open regularly, but let's be real that's on me. I'm a bit of a klutz and use my electronics pretty harshly so I've been around the block with repair. These guys are genuinely great at what they do. read more

This place had a series of customer service failures, ending in them not even fixing my computer. I booked a 9 AM weekday appointment for PC repair via their online appointment tool. PC repair was a service listed on their website. I received a confirmation email for the appointment. When I showed up for the appointment at 9 AM (for which I had to delay the start of my work day), no employees were there and the door was locked. I called their number, but no one picked up. So I wrote a note and left it in their mail slot, requesting that they call me. As I was heading home, an employee who saw my missed call called me back, apologized, and got me rebooked for another appointment the next day. For some reason, though, he kept calling me "Michael", which is not my name. (He never asked me my name.) I received a confirmation email that my previous appointment had been rescheduled, so the person on the phone clearly was able to identify my record. A couple hours later, an employee who found my note called me back and left a voicemail. He apologized and told me that the technician was in the back of the shop and that I should have knocked. He gave me his direct number and asked that I call him back to reschedule an appointment. I wanted to call him to confirm that I had a rescheduled appointment for the next day, but the number he gave me led to, "your call cannot be completed as dialed." So I tried calling the main business number, and I was once again put in touch with the employee who rescheduled my appointment earlier in the day. I told him I wanted to confirm that the other employee who found my note knew I had been rebooked. The person on the phone once again called me Michael and asked if there was any other help I needed for my Mac. (Recall that the appointment I booked was for a PC, and this employee should have known that because he located the record of my original appointment.) The next day, I showed up for my rescheduled appointment. I described the problem to the employee, which was that my BIOS did not recognize my hard drive upon boot-up, and he said that they only do hardware repairs for PCs and not software. He said that if I had scheduled the appointment over the phone, they would have been able to tell me that they couldn't help me. So I left after having made the trip out there twice and without receiving any service. Technically, my rescheduled appointment was made over the phone, but the employee who rescheduled it never asked what my problem was. This place specializes in Mac repairs, so maybe they're good for that. But I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone on the basis of my experience. read more

Love Haight Computers is great! I brought in a 2014 MacBook Pro that I was looking to trade-in for a smaller/lighter laptop for traveling. Azm and Jimmy provided professional and personal customer service and ensured that I both 1) got the best trade-in value for my previous laptop and 2) got the best refurbished device for my needs and budget. They were able to give me a great trade-in value for my previous laptop despite some aesthetic imperfections with the screen and they didn't try to up-sell me on a laptop I didn't need... they even tried to down-sell me to something a bit cheaper than what I was originally thinking about since I thought I needed more than I really did. While they were busy they still made time for me as if I were a paying customer. The owner took time to show me around their nicely laid out store and well organized selection of laptops, desktops, and iPads With a one-year warranty included at no additional on any product, I certainly won't be buying a used Apple computer from Craigslist. LHC diagnosed and told me my laptop is helpless. It will cost $900 to fix or get a "refurbished used" one. Due to how disappointing it is, I decided to go to Apple store and find out what they say. Good service without the Apple Tax I had a Macbook Pro with water damage. A spilled cup of water got into the back of it, and the MBP was fine for the next hour but wouldn't boot the next day. I brought it in that following day and was quoted $179 for water cleanup (2 hrs of labor), and as long as turning on the machine hadn't shorted anything out, that could work. Approximately 24 hours later, I got a call that it was ready, and everything was good to go. It's worked fine for the last week, and I didn't have to deal with the Apple store waits or the Apple tax! read more

I have an old MacBook Air from 2012 that I love. The trackpad started giving me grief a year ago and the battery was questionable too. I took it to Apple and they told me it was too old to work on, and of course I was better off buying a new computer--which I agree with. Except that the new computers won't be ready for a couple months. I called Love Haight Computers and they were so calm and acted as it was no problem for them at all. I took it to the store, and again, they assured me they could fix both things in a couple hours (for a $79 rush fee, which was worth not leaving my computer over night) and sure enough it was done a little early, and to top it of, they replaced a few keys for me free of charge. I was so pleasantly surprised. Today, I was back in business and the computer felt like new. It was such a surprising and great experience! They walked me through all my options and we settled on a great low cost option given my time constraints. 3 weeks ago I had to take my 2010 iMac in for a hard drive repair. The options they gave me were to either pay 400-500 or just purchase one of their computers. I then came across a small company in San Jose that repaired my iMac for a MUCH lower price that almost seemed unreal to me.(it was a miracle, Mac-central, San Jose^^ great people , a little far drive from SF but worth it.) Oh my goodness. I will forever be eternally grateful to Love Haight Computers. My 2012 (read: old AF) MacBook Pro completely froze on me last week, as I knew it inevitably one day would. Fearing the worst, I was preparing to bequeath all my retirement funds to the Apple gods until the end of days. Not to mention that, as a self-employed musician and small voice studio owner, this wasn't exactly feasible. Two different friends both recommended Love Haight Computers to me as their go-to spot; I am so grateful they did. Went in midday on a Monday and they saw me right away; took my laptop and external hard drive and said they'd probably be able to look at it by Tuesday or Wednesday. 3 hours later, I received a text message from Andrew that he'd looked at my laptop, assessed what was wrong, along with several options for both short-term and long-term fixes. Their package to upgrade the hard drive was very reasonably priced and affordable (even for your freelance musician over here), and included the labor, parts, installation, new operating system, and data transfer. I basically have a brand new computer for a super reasonable price and in 24 hours turn-around time. To say I'm relieved is an understatement. They also apparently sell refurbished Macs and PCs (one of my friends said she'd purchased her last 2 computers through them), so that's also an option if you're needing a new one but don't want to/can't afford to pay full price to said Apple deities. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I took my computer to them on Saturday, at around 2, and they said that they would look at is right away, and let me know if it could be fixed quickly. I had a virus on it, and I knew art was a virus, as the computer is a Mac, and is only 5 months old.bbThey said they would have an estimate by 4. At 4, I called them, and they said that they needed more time.b b I big deal to me, cause it meant giving my computer up for the weekend, but ohm if it needs to be fixe, it needs to be fixed. I was never given an estimate of how long the repair/motor replacement would take. Eventually I was told my computer was ready for pick up and rushed over. It wasn't. The slot for a camera chip stopped working after the "repair." After a couple of weeks the original problems surfaced again. Others have developed. I called multiple times, and they asked me inappropriate questions that they have no business asking. I came to your business to bring you business and you tell me that " I have to gain your trust." They don't say this on their website and I don't think anyone has mentioned this on Yelp, but the first thing you see when you get there is that you need an appointment, so make sure you make one before going. I was less than impressed. I needed a new computer screen for my Mac Pro. It took the guy I spoke to a while to find out if they had one (they didn't have a new one but a refurbished one which they still had to test) and then he had to make a phone call to find out how long much it would cost. The price he quoted me for the second hand one was only $100 under what it would cost to have Apple replace the screen and that, of course, would be brand new. When he found out I was planning to buy a new computer at Apple, the salesman applied a lot of pressure to get me to sell him mine saying I wouldn't be able to sell it anywhere. I spilt Diet Coke on my Touch Bar MacBook Pro last year and was left with a burnt motherboard. Apple offered to recycle my laptop for free and a local computer shop in Massachusetts offered me little money for recycling. I came to SF and found Love Haight computer. They offered me a generous base pay for my damaged computer and offered to increase the amount based on how much of the computer is salvageable. So Monday night I was ready to start studying for my midterm that was on Wednesday... but my 2008 MacBook decided to give out on me -_- I was freakin' out because of course I decided to procrastinate on studying and my baby decides to get stuck on the blue screen! Wow! What a difference from the Apple Store... a really welcome change! I was in and out within a half hour with amazing customer service. Everything on my 2009 Macbook Pro slowed way down a year or two ago after installing Mavericks. As an anti-planned obsolescence supporter, I really wanted to avoid buying a new machine, so I brought it in on a Friday at noon. By 12:40, I was walking out with a huge smile on my face, only ~$150 spent, and a computer that operated completely differently. I probably could have figured out that my computer was super low on RAM and ordered the kit to do myself, but given that I am in a time crunch that's work-related and not as computer savvy as I once was, I was so happy to hand my laptop over to the professionals and get it back immediately. To boot, they cleaned out one of my USB ports to get it working again... that was on the house. And another nice touch was cleaning my screen and keyboard. What I loved most was that I was completely supported in what I really wanted... to upgrade my current machine at a relatively low cost. I almost cried when I used it for the first time.
