Tried another class and it was fine, but, again it ended 20 mins late. WTH? Kinda ruins your evening when you need to haul ass post class bc you're now late to relieve your child care provider. It doesn't get any sweeter than this! Let us begin with the name ~Love Hive~ I mean come on! It just screams of Juicy Yummy Yoga, and they do deliver on that. It's in an older shared business building with big old wood & brick. The lobby slash retail area is low key, pleasant and welcoming. The business end of the studio is the studio upstairs. (note: I love the sound of running up the old wood green stairs) Oddly shaped studio space but if you know yoga it's not about space, it's about Space. The Vibe of the Hive is Sweet and comes from the Love inside. I come mostly for the Happy Hour Hatha (Tues & Thurs) Talha is awesome. Totes Awesome. He offers a very focused practice with clarity and an powerful energetic. He kicks ass, really. Hive Flow is their Vinyasa class, I recommend Brianna but try others too. I have been coming here for the last 3 months and absolutely love it! They have a 30 days for $30 deal for new students that gets you into all 3 locations. You can sign up for all their classes and see info about the teachers on the MINDBODY app, which is super handy, as life gets hectic and its so easy to schedule or cancel as needed. Their monthly fees gets a little spendy after your new student deal, but as someone who goes 3-5 times a week, it is worth it! They offer extra perks if your a monthly member. This studio is walking distance from my house, but there are parking lots on both sides of the building if you drive. You check in on their iPad and leave your belonging and shoes (the studio is a sacred cellphone free space!) downstairs and head upstairs to the practice space. The space has several windows opening out to Burnside and in the winter months they have space heaters set around the room. I have several favorite teachers! Allison does my favorite Hatha class, I love the speed, just slow enough to correct my positions and get deeper into my poses, her vibe is nurturing and peaceful. Khalila is awesome when it comes to explaining how to get the most out of every pose, her classes push me hard! Lisa is vibrant, energetic, and her flows are unique. I sign up for every one of Katherines classes! All around great experience, vibes, and my body feels stronger than ever. Its wonderful to spend time around people that enjoy the same headspace. So I used to go here all the time. I really dig the vibe. So today I count my money out after all I am a single parent who works a bunch and can't really afford yoga right no, but I digress, I get my $15 together drive all the way to the studio and find out the classes are 18$. If it were me behind the desk I would have let it slide, after all yoga is not supposed to be about greed, but alas , it is. This is not community, this is sad. read more

I LOVE this studio! My favorite of everything I've tried in Portland by far. I compare every studio I've tried on Classpass to it. The studio space has such a homey, inviting feel. I love the minimalist aesthetic and the focus on heart centered practice. Both instructors I had class with were so genuine, real and I never felt a pretentious yoga vibe like you do at some studios. I've been searching for a yoga studio around Portland for a while now and I have to say that Love Hive is the best! I had my reservations at first seeing that the slate of yoga instructors are predominantly white (and it matters to me to practice not only with people of color but instructors of color as well), but I believe that Love Hive is a welcoming place for all people. All of the instructors I typically take class with are wonderful! I would say that all of the instructors I've interacted with have been so warm, patient, and loving. They really make it a point to get to know you and ensure you know that you're joining a community! Audra's class is always packed so if you wish to witness her warm and thoughtful reflections at the beginning of class, I recommend coming early to save a spot. Kelly's gentle yoga classes are amazing and her reflections at the start of class are always great to start each session. TingTing's classes at 7am are always difficult for me to get to because 7am is ridiculously early, but I know that when I do make it to her class, I'm going to get a good workout which is always helpful to start the day with! Plus she likes to teach her classes with the sounds of ocean waves instead of slow paced or pop music (not that I'm against those genres of music! Just the whole 7am thing... you can only listen to so much!) Regardless of who you take your class with, it seems that all of the instructors carry the same warmth and loving-kindness that the studio is known for. Gorgeous space. GREAT teachers. Stinky feet odor sometimes. Offensive marijuana odor depending on classmates. Class schedule is NOT a drop down -- must know to click "classes" and ignore 4 drop down items. My over 45 memory failed & I tried a new customer Groupon twice. This unleashed the owner AND the accountant emailing me requesting payment in under 8 hours. She told me to regift the Groupon so they can harass my friends over a petty sum of $15. I make collection calls when it's OVER a few hundred dollars, but I guess that's how they pay their rent. Groupon could program one use per customer, so I'll go 3 stars. read more

This studio is fantastic. I just discovered it, even though I live a block away. I used to come to Inner Elements when it was downstairs, so I'm super excited that Live Hive is here now. I bought a Groupon, which was a FANTASTIC deal at $10 for two weeks of unlimited classes. They also have $30 unlimited for the first month. Great deals. Their website is beautiful and very easy to use. They offer a variety of classes here. They even do a Yoga Foundations class by donation. I've taken Yin and Evening Flow classes. Yin is super restorative and Melina is a wonderful teacher. Evening Flow with Kastania is great and it's a workout for sure. I wouldn't recommend this class for total beginners, because it is definitely faster paced. You'll get a great sweat in! The studio is also really peaceful and beautiful. What a great yoga spot! I came as a tourist to Portland and got the first time $35 pass and took a class every day I was here. The instructors cue really well and make ample use of props (usually I'm not a fan of props, but they were very useful for these classes). The space is quirky and warm and the teachers were so friendly. Can't wait to come back! read more

Wonderful place, wonderful experience! I was in Portland for a conference, and sought out Love Hive Yoga because I've practiced with both Audra Carmine and Jessica Garay online (with Yoga Anytime) and love them both. I went to Audra's Sunday morning vinyasa class at the Fremont studio. The class was upbeat, very well-sequenced, and fun, and the studio is beautiful. I could not have asked for a better experience. I'm just sorry that my conference schedule didn't allow me to attend one of Jessica's classes, or one of the other Love Hive locations. Thanks! read more

Where to begin... Such a warm and inviting community. Excellent quality of teaching, and each teacher has something different and golden to offer. All classes are authentic and I always leave with a smile and a "different" body (in a very good way). I could go on and on. I loved this studio. I took a workshop and a class with Alyssa while traveling for business. Great space and they even offer tea in the welcome area. Worth noting there is a bathroom you can change in but no locker rooms. The class was exactly what I needed and the studio was incredibly welcoming. So happy I found this gem. read more

Bought one of those unlimited monthly class passes for new students online. When I arrived at my 9:30 AM Hatha Class in my yoga gear, I was greeted with a smile and put all of my things down. When I went up to the yoga studio, at the burnside location I was blasted with cold air. The yoga studio wasn't warm or heated at all. They had these little electric heaters in the back of the room that we're not putting out any heat. The other teacher told us that they had been on since 8 o'clock this morning and we were lucky that it was 930 because it was really cold for the first class. I froze my ass off and was literally shivering the whole entire time. (This is in October) I have not gone back even though I bought an unlimited monthly pass! Um... yoga is supposed to be a warm room and even more so for Hatha, Restorative and Yin. I am terrified of freezing my ass off now and refuse to go back which sucks because the yoga studio is close to my house and rather quite lovely. read more

This is home for me! The owners Audra and Jessica are so complimentary to one another. They both are authentic and really believe in what they're teaching on and off the mat. Yoga at Love Hive isn't just a workout but it is truly a community. The classes they offer are straight forward and the teachers are SO great! If you want a killer workout with lots of options for inversions and advanced poses, check out Keri, Audra, Katherine, or Brianna's. If you want to feel super relaxed, nourished, and calm try Jessica, Emily, Kady, or Allison's. I've had different physical limitations over the last 2 and a half years that I've been practicing and I've only felt supported with options/modifications no matter who's class I was in. My practice has grown so much because of the consistency and care that the teachers put into planning their classes and I'm so thankful for that. Love Hive Yoga is my favorite yoga studio in town. The instructors are so talented, thoughtful, caring and compassionate. They offer a range of classes, from yin (soft, slow, and on the floor with cushions) to basic to rigorous. I've been coming to this studio since it opened about 8 months ago and the rigorous classes have helped me so much I no longer have to go to the chiropractor and my body feels so much stronger. I can't quite do all the fancy stuff that some people can in the class, but it doesn't matter, the instructors make the classes appropriate for various levels. The yin class is great for relaxing your mind, and it's helped me sleep so much better. It's a great group of people who come to these classes too, and the space is lovely. read more

The new location opened on Fremont within walking distance of my house! So I got a 30 day unlimited and checked out some different instructors. The schedule is great if you want to get up early and do a 7am class, Wait a bit and hit 9.30 or do lunch class at noon or later. Lots of offers. I have gone to both burnside and Fremont. The Fremont studio is brand new, light filled will a large window in front covered by sheer curtains to let the light through. It stays cool in there despite the HEAT the last few days. There are so many different instructors at different skill levels you can find something for everyone. I love it. read more

Taking a yoga class and learning the art of this amazing practice has been on my bucket list for years now! First off, I am a beginner-I am barely flexible and am self-conscious of not being coordinated or flexible enough to maintain the poses and stretches. However, the instructor, Alison, was so welcoming, friendly, helpful in a gentle way, and extremely supportive! She really didn't make me feel foolish in any way whatsoever, and I really appreciated her guidance! I am determined to keep going and get more comfortable with this new challenge! The studio was really warm and welcoming, upstairs in an older building, the best kind around in PDX! Class was full, but not overcrowded. Every single person there was so friendly and lovely! I was SO happy to discover Love Hive after moving to Portland in August! I tried a handful of other studios, and I can say that Love Hive is by far my favorite! The teachers are so welcoming, and their classes are mindful and breath-focused, which is exactly what I had been searching for! The space is calm, well-kept, simple, and relaxing. I immediately felt at ease when I came in for the first time. There are many yoga studios in Portland, but I felt so welcome at Love Hive. Allison, who teaches on Sunday mornings, is awesome! I have also taken a few classes with Ting Ting, who focuses on the breath and mindful movement, and I really appreciate their approach to mindful yoga. Also, they have an excellent 30 days for $30 deal for new students, which is so amazing, and their membership price is so reasonable!
