I've seen this place a while back when in Simi valley. Honestly there's not that many places in Simi that's a wow. Even hearing from locals. I spotted this place while picking up things from target next door a while back. The service was great, friendly staff which is great. Also, they had a deal with alcohol. Buy a bottle or saki and get the second for a penny. Win win if you like something with your meal. Menu, they do have a good selections of rolls and dishes. Ramen as well. And a good selection of combos meal with a premium roll and 5 piece of sushi. We got a selections of items to share, the bakes mussels were great. Shrimp and veggies tempura was ok, nothing major to rave about. The seafood ramen was ok, same nothing to rave about. The hand roll was good. And the sushi combo with the roll was ok as well. Overall, it's a quick sushi pick me up. Menu does carry a wide array of dishes. Service was great with friendly staff. Food was ok.

The price is expensive here, but I thought I'd give it a try, maybe the quality would make up for it. Boy was I wrong. We got a seared tuna sashimi, rainbow roll, love hand roll and a tempura hand roll. The sashimi was not fresh. The tuna was suspiciously bright red in color and tasted like nothing. Not fishy, but also not anything. The rainbow roll has an acidic sauce on it that overpowers everything, maybe that's their way to cover their subpar fish. The roll was also loosely rolled so it was falling apart. The two hand rolls were okay. They are fairly big but filled with cheap stuff like rice and imitation crab and tempura crunch bits. The tempura roll is supposed to have a tempura shrimp in it but it was more like essence of shrimp. The service was okay. But it was very quiet there when we went at prime dinner time so she has not much to work on. Overall I was disappointed and not happy with my experience here

Had an early dinner for my cousins birthday! Besides my family and I, there was only maybe 4 other people there. It wasn't busy at all. The lady was very nice and very quick to bring out our drinks and food. The food was delicious!!! My family comes here a lot, but this was my first time. I ordered the Heart Attack appetizer and the Thai Shrimp Tempura Roll......YUMMY! The Thai Shrimp Tempura Roll was my favorite and had coconut shrimp. The Heart Attack was good, not too bad, not too spicy either. I'm definitely not a person who eats sushi often, but what I ordered was delicious! Definitely will come back again.

I ordered edamame, shrimp tempura, an avocado roll, and a salmon cut roll and it was $39.36. Salmon cut roll was disgusting. Couldn't even eat it. It has small chopped up pieces mixed with something I could not identify. Avocado roll had no cucumber so it was very plain. Edamame also was plain, no salt.

I'm here with my family, been here for plenty of other occasions. My favorite roll is the Crunchy Scallop roll w a side of that spicy Mayo. Also the Jin's roll with Salmon, Shrimp, Crab Meat and Spicy Tuner. Edamame Kirin and Sapporo This place has a calm dim lit romantic atmosphere. The Icicles in almost May here made me smile. Anytime of year is icicle time:)

It's rare to find a meal that leaves you truly stunned and speechless but Sushi Tanaka did exactly…read morethat. An absolute showstopper of a meal from start to finish. This reservation took a full year to secure and I would gladly wait another year to experience it again. The hardest reservation in Ventura County? Without a doubt. Worth it? YES doesn't even begin to cover it. Dining at Sushi Tanaka is an experience in itself, especially in the presence of a legend like Chef Sei Tanaka. He is warm yet serious, focused yet playful and his dishes speak volumes. Every bite is layered with personality and skill. On the night we came in, my dearest friend Leslie and I had the entire restaurant to ourselves. I can't explain how we had an entire seating to just us but it was magical and intimate. We dinned on 18 courses, each one a surprise more delicious than the last. You just sit back and the chef chooses each bite for you. We've never had octopus so impossibly tender it melted in our mouths. Ice cold sake, warm fish soup, literally I could go on and on about this meal. Choosing favorites feels almost wrong because every course was exceptional, but if forced, the Santa Barbara uni on wagyu, Japanese scallop, Sea bream, and Toro with uni were some of the most impressive and unforgettable bites I've ever had. Never did I imagine that the best sushi I've ever experienced in Ventura County would be found in Simi Valley, but here we are. What an absolute treasure this city holds. I truly hope everyone gets the opportunity to support and experience this extraordinary omakase at least once in their life.

I know people may underestimate the odds of 5 star quality in Simi Valley. But it exists and this…read moreis the place! Whether you're in the neighborhood or driving in from LA county. This is worth the coins, gas and time. When you get there it is the one sushi chef and whoever else has a reservation. The night was filled with delicious kanpachi, salmon, uni, oyster, caviar, scallop, nigiri, tuna and so much more. It was a couple of hours of endless sushi, sashimi, salad and even some miso soup. It is not an easy reservation to get but totally worth it about $100 or more per person but it's alot of food. So make sure to make room. Great for a dat or a group of friends. The chef is so patient, kind and he explains every dish. He also has a nice playlist of blues music playing throughout our dinner. It helps to take you into a different place. 10 out of 10 i recommend.
