The fried chicken sandwich here is really great and full of flavor. I also like the southwest bowl, which is very refreshing and feels healthy. The only thing is that the price is not worth what they give you. I think I would have been just as happy with getting a sandwich from chick fil a or popeyes for a much cheaper price point than LoveBird, however i'm sure the quality and freshness does play a part in this. Overall, I'd recommend trying it at least once, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. read more

I am incredibly biased with this review because the person next to me in my Yelp picture is my brother Michael, he has Autism, he is gluten sensitive, and he means the world to me. So pretty much if he's happy, that's like an auto five stars. Cue auto five stars. Lovebird does something very peculiar that you may not notice, and it's that everything is gluten free. The fried chicken in particular is a blend of rice and corn flour. But don't let that freeze you in your tracks, the fried chicken is good. If you come in expecting the ultra-seasoned fried chicken you may get at KFC or Popeyes though, you could be disappointed. The chicken is not heavily seasoned, it just sticks to the basics -- it's simple, crispy, and juicy. Cue the sauce bar though where you can select between several in-house made sauces, and in personal preference, the Sweet Chili was my favorite. I tried the honey sauce (too sweet), lovebird sauce (too 'heavy' for my preference), and honey mustard (good, but not necessarily distinctive). The area to eat in the restaurant is very small -- like six bar chairs small. So consider Lovebird for to-go, delivery, or if you're eating in as a small informal group. But either way, they rock, give them a try if you're in the area! read more

This place just recently opened and we have already been here 3 times. Lovebird is a fast casual restaurant that mainly serves fried chicken. There is some seating in here, but it is extremely limited. The fried chicken is gluten free, which is apparently hard to do right with fried chicken. I'm not gluten free so I wouldn't know, but I think it is delicious. Their food is also antibiotic free, no GMOs, locally sourced etc, which is great. The first time we came here I had the two piece fried chicken and my husband had the popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken isn't as good, but probably a nice option for kids. Now that I have tried more things, I would say the best thing to order is the Lovebird sandwich. It has a piece of fried chicken on it, their special sauce, lettuce, and coleslaw. It all goes together perfectly and tastes amazing. I don't even like coleslaw at all, but I enjoy theirs on the sandwich. For sides, I have had the fries and Mac and cheese which are both great. Now, for a take out place, Lovebird isn't cheap, probably because of the reasons mentioned above. For us to get 2 sandwiches and 2 sides (no drinks) it was $28. The entrees aren't too expensive, I think where they really get you are the sides at $4 a piece. Hopefully, I don't regret leaving a 5 star review for a place that hasn't been open long and may decline in quality and service, but as of now I love it. read more

I'm super picky about my chicken and appreciate that Lovebird sources theirs from Gerber's Amish Farm. They provide a variety of offerings to choose from: sandwiches, salads, popcorn chicken, and standard pieces. I've tried their Lovebird, a combo of chicken, slaw, pickles and lettuce served on a delish soft bun and highly recommend. I needed a quick bite between events in Bryn Mawr and Villanova - something I could eat in the car in the parking lot. I had passed the building with Lovebird (formerly pizza places) many times and decided to try them out after looking at the menu online. There was a steady stream of orders coming in (either walk-ins or phone/online) and I was told it would be 10-15 minutes for my order, but it was ready in 5 minutes. The chicken sandwich is definitely upscale. As cited by others, the breading is gluten-free. It's different but it's good, and you don't lose much (if any) crispiness. The lettuce and cole slaw were very fresh, and the chicken was hot and tender. Definitely eat a table or hold the tray under you (with plenty of napkins at the ready), because it is messy with the sauce and cole slaw. Where I was disappointed was the french fries. For $4.50, I expected properly cooked fries that had some crisp outside but softness inside. What I got were clearly overcooked, very crunchy fries that ended up being very heavy on top of the sandwich. Many restaurants do better with their fries, especially at that price point. I'd come back for the sandwich (even at $10) but it sounds like a lot of work needs to be done with the side dishes (if all the mac and cheese reviews are any indication). read more

Only a few stools to sit on for a quick bite or while you're waiting for your order. It's primarily a takeout spot. They source their ingredients locally (breads from LeBus and gluten-free breading from The Happy Mixer). The menu sticks mostly to the basics - fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, good side dishes. Really good chicken sandwiches. I got the Lovebird sandwich, loved how it came with slaw on it. It didn't taste really greasy which I wasn't used to from fried chicken. The ingredients all tasted very fresh and I think Lovebird will do well in its location. Only downside is the price. $10 for a sandwich and it doesn't come with any sides. I am usually ready for amazing fried chicken just when you are closing up shop. Am I going to ding you for it? This was our first time trying this new chicken place near Insomnia Cookies. We hadn't ordered ahead because I didn't have a menu nor did we know what to expect. It's got a clean rustic vibe. There's a counter for ordering and some bar seating but it seems mostly like a takeout place. The people were friendly and explained the menu. We chose the 2 piece chicken which needs to be ordered as leg/thigh or breast/wing. This was a shame because my son would've preferred 2 legs but it doesn't work that way. We also chose popcorn chicken which is breast meat cut up like nuggets. We finished with fries and Mac and cheese. Everything was very tasty. The Mac and cheese was very dense (I really don't like it when it's watery so this was really good). The fries were scarfed down immediately. We had the special sauce which was our favorite and was basically ketchup and mayo. We also liked the honey mustard and the hot honey sauces. It was $23.32 for those items (didn't get any drinks since we were dining at home). It seems a little expensive to go there regularly but I would return at some point. read more

Service was wonderful, but the food was almost inedible. The popcorn chicken was extremely dry, tough and over cooked. All of the ingredients in the chicken sandwich were fresh and delicious except for the chicken itself. The Mac and cheese was oily, and so overcooked, that the noodles were falling apart. To the point that I think they use Cornish game hens for their chicken. The drumsticks were pathetic and the wings had no meat on them-only breading. Since this was my first time ordering I told the cashier that we were a family of four. After ordering I was under the impression there would be enough food to put on the table and eat family style. I have a craving for fried chicken and a lot of people recommend this place. We ordered 2 pieces fried chicken ( thigh and leg), ranch chicken sandwich, popcorn chicken, fries, cold slow. The friend chickens are amazing...crispy skin and juicy inside. Totally satisfy my craving. Fries are really good too. I love when restaurants are transparent about where their food is from and whether or not they use organic or non-GMO ingredients in their dishes, so it's no surprise that when I heard about this new Lovebird restaurant opening near me I just had to try it out. I previously ate at their other location in Doylestown and I really enjoyed it. I figured that this location would have the same high quality taste I enjoyed over at their other location but unfortunately it wasn't. At the previous location I had ordered the Popcorn chicken and enjoyed the crispy layers and taste of it, it was actually seasoned well and did not require outside dips whatsoever (I did add ketchup though!) At this location, I played it safe and ordered the same thing and I was quite disappointed! The chicken was not seasoned well enough (or at all), the so called fried layer was so thin and did not even taste like anything. To top it all off, they have their dips outside as if by admission, they are telling you that their chicken is bland! At least the chicken meat was white! I was extremely disappointed as I had previously enjoyed this place but it looks like they must've changed their recipe since now their chicken is so bland you need to season it yourself. The dip I took was some sort of sweet honey bbq and it really just tasted like honey without any bbq sauce at all. So here I am eating bland chicken with basically honey only. To top things off they only offer Heinz ketchup packets that contains HFCS, so I'm not even sure if they even use non-gmo seasoning on their chicken, so I ended up using some saved up Sir Keshington's ketchup from B. Good. For the price you're offering, I'm really disappointed in the quality of the food and hope that someday you'll actually make higher quality food. As it stands, even a place like KFC has better seasoning than your own chicken. I'm giving this place 2 stars only because the customer service here was great. Food is 0 stars though! read more

We just finished our lunch from Lovebird and it was AMAZING! I am gluten-free but my friend who was not was shocked that it was so delicious and safe for me to eat! It was recommended from a friend who eats there regularly and isn't gluten free. Her review of the "life-changing" mac and cheese was pretty accurate -- it has the slightest aftertaste of spice to it that really made it delicious. The chicken nuggets were crisp (despite being delivery) and juicy with great flavor. The spicy honey was good. It has a little bit of a chipotle flavor to it which isn't my personal favorite, but the sweet and spicy was a delicious combination. I will eat here many more times and recommend it to gluten-free and non gluten free friends alike! read more

A shout out to Lovebird PA in Bryn Mawr! I was out earlier today and my husband called in an order. I pulled up front and before I could even call, the manager, Age came out with my order, with gloves on her hands and a smile on her face. She placed it in the back seat for the perfect no contact order. Wonderful, crisp chicken that happens to be gluten free. I had the lovebird sandwich that is topped with fresh and crispy slaw, my husband had fried chicken, one daughter the chicken nuggets with their so good sweet chili and the lovebird sauce, the other daughter had a Baja bird sandwich with fresh pico de gallo. Still warm and crispy after the ride home. We shared fries and Brussels sprouts. I didn't remember to take a photo fast enough but got one of the sprouts. Perfect service. Delicious chicken.
