We have got to go before as well as eaten in and equally delicious but I do like the atmosphere of the restaurant and the tea. Food was good. Large portions. I had the lemon chicken and it was just as good as any other Chinese restaurant. Not amazing but good. My husband had the combo#5 because it had all of his favorites and he has had better fried rice for sure. The portions were so big i am sure one order would be sufficient for two people if you could agree on what you wanted to eat. Perfect for the family with ample space and tables. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. The sweet and sour chicken was little balls of flavorless deep fried chicken with watered down sweet and sour sauce squirted on top. The subgum chicken with pan fried noodles was bland chicken and a few limp vegetables over gummy stuck together noodles. I had a few bites and left 95% of my dinner. Save your money and buy some ramen noodles at the dollar store as it would be a step up. read more

Just passing through on a road trip vacation, and stopped in Florence for lunch. Chen's was just opening, and had a warm review from relatives that have eaten there before while on their vacation. Wife ordered salt and pepper shrimp, and I had pot stickers to share and General Tso's chicken. Everything was delicious. Above and beyond good service from an enthusiastic twenty-something male waiter who seemed genuinely interested in making sure we had a good meal. Super quick but food was bland. Water had more flavor than the chicken lo mien I had. Took 3 bites and the taste of dirty peas was overpowering everything (I strongly hate peas but even after removing them you can taste with every bite). There is oil consistency usually when eating Chinese food, this was a slimy texture. Not slimy greasy but rather melted jell-o slimy. Don't recommend this place unless you're willing to throw money away. Go to organic noodle, they aren't that great either but an upgrade is an upgrade read more

We're moving to the area so we had to find our Chinese food place. Chen's Family is fabulous!!!! They start you off with a pot of delicious hot tea on the table. We ordered Mongolian Beef, General Tso Pork, and Orange Chicken. They were all delicious. The Orange Chicken sauce tasted of real oranges. The General Tso sauce was so good my dad practically licked it off his plate. We'll definitely be back for outstanding food and excellent service! read more

We had been here about 10 years ago. We remember it being good but not just how good. Unassuming place located in Florence, OR, we were seated as soon as we walked in. Menus given and within seconds we had ice waters and hot tea brought without request. I like that. We ordered from the lunch menu, she lad the Lemon Chicken and I had the General Tso's Chicken. With the order placed, our soup, Egg Flower, arrived. More hearty than most I was surprised to find it full of noodles and veggies. Very good. Our main dishes arrived quickly considering it's made fresh. We both tried tastes of each others and our conclusions are the same. Both dishes came with stir fried rice and crab puffs. The Lemon chicken was very good. A large chicken breast, butterflied into two pieces, lightly bread and cooked to a perfect light crispness. The lemon sauce was delicious, a nice blend of tart and sweetness. It was fresh and hot. The King of the castle... was General Tso's chicken. I'm a bit of a foodie, with a love of cooking, and I can't figure out how they do it. The chunks of chicken are battered and fried until heavenly perfection is reached. The outside was crisp, but just the outer part. The inner batterer was cooked, (not doughy,) and soft. At the center, a perfectly cooked piece of chicken. The sauce was a mouthwatering perfect combination of sweetness and spice. This all combined to the best dish at a Chinese restaurant I've ever had. The best. All this at a cost of $21.50! The staff were prompt, attentive and professional. The restaurant itself looked very clean and a all but one employee was wearing a mask. Surprising seeing the CDC removed the need... Chen's is now open for dine in and we took advantage of it! The food here is very authentic Chinese cuisine and the portions are incredibly large. We were greeted as we came in and offered a booth or table. Taking a booth the staff immediately supplied us with water and a pitcher of black tea with small cups. We ordered 3 entrees, ate our fill and still walked out with what felt like 5 lbs of leftovers. The sweet and sour pork was round nuggets of battered pork with a tangy sweet sour sauce drizzled over it. The pork was very flavorful and not greasy, tender not chewy and the batter had a nice crisp to it. The cashew chicken kew chow mein was also very flavorful with the chicken and cashew flavors combining nicely. The sauce was also very rich and brothy. The veggies that accompanied this dish were also done to a nice al dente and tasted very fresh. General Tso's Chicken was also moist and tender. The hot sauce it was prepared with was a nice mild heat and not salty. I had a tall cold and refreshing glass of Thai Iced tea! This is a very sweet version of a chai type of tea with creme. This tea is intentionally sweet, so be prepared for that if you requested it. It is, again, a very refreshing drink. read more

I've eaten plenty of American Chinese food from rural and urban locations. This is one of the worst I have had. Not good flavors in the sweet and sour chicken or the mushu pork. The sweet and sour sauce is fine (though lacking pineapple for my taste), but the chicken itself tasted odd. When I went to pick up the order the restaurant smelled awful, like moldy carpet or old aquarium. Otherwise looked clean but off putting. read more

I love this place. Visited on vacation two years in a row. Food is great! Had vegetable chow mein which is prepared the old fashioned way with lots of veggies, bean sprouts and tasty sauce. Served with crispy noodles. Also had chicken fried rice which is prepared without excessive oils and is not drenched in soy sauce. Wouldn't go here if you're not a regular or white. Went here after a long day on the coast and waited 20 minutes to get waters. Waited another 20 minutes for our server to take our orders. Watched people come in and get severed both their appetizers and entrees before we were even looked at. Talked to the manager about it and he says that all tickets go to the back after their appetizers are made (after seeing others get both their appetizers and entrees), so they pick and choose who and who not to serve. Subpar food as well. If you're looking for good service and good food, go somewhere else. read more
