Quaint, well run cottages. Our deck was literally a foot from the water. The family that runs it is very nice. You will see on trip advisor that some people think they are kind of strict, but ya know, "my house my rules." She told me not to smoke pot, so I didn't. She told me to park straight in my own spot, so I did. I found them to be quite lovely, actually. We got caught in a rain storm one day, and we didn't want to leave our cabin so we walked to check-in where they have board games to borrow, and Mom pulled out her photo albums and started showing us all the critters she's had visit her over the years. Very sweet. As far as accommodations go, it's exactly what we expected, a simple cottage on the river in the Rocky Mountains. If you are looking for luxury, you're best to stay up the road at The Stanley and pay three times as much without the river view. read more

We had a very positive experience at Loveland. The cabin we stayed at had a kitchen, so we were able to make several meals there. Very close to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. If you are going to use the WiFi, not very fast at all. Best I got for speed was 3 Mbps. Luckily, not there for the Internet. Creek runs behind the cabins, and awesome scenery. This is truly one of the best kept secrets at this price point in Estes Park. Clean, quiet, quaint, friendly, beautiful, private, GREAT VALUE..........My family makes multiple trips each year to Estes and this time we decided to change it up and try something different. We stayed here for almost a week and it's a very quaint, rustic place to stay. The location is great- we were right on the river- but that's really the best part of the stay. We came very unprepared and so we were a little frustrated at times. Bring your own towels, sheets, etc- theirs definitely need to be replaced. We thought we would be able to cook meals- but we had zero counter space (literally no counter space), the stove had a gas leak so we ended up unhooking it since the owners said it was fine, the appliances are very hit and miss (coffee maker, toaster, etc didn't work). It definitely is like camping with a bed. Lots of bugs inside as well. The wifi didn't work and we had zero cell service- so that's fine for unplugging, but it's not conducive to our situation to not have phone service. The owners are nice but very, very particular- which is a little funny since the place is in need of many repairs. We enjoyed our time and would come better prepared if we were to stay here again. Just know you are getting what you pay for (but the River view is stunning). read more

Exactly what we wanted and needed. Myself and 3 others stayed a week and it was a great experience. We are in our mid 20s and it was a great getaway. These are cabins in the Rocky Mountains so don't go expecting a 5 star hotel. Wifi is spotty but that got us to go out and do stuff. Beverly and her family are very friendly and helpful. She was a little worried that we would trash the cabin since we were younger, but we made it a mission to prove her wrong. It was something we laughed about often on the trip. She has rules and none are too much to ask for. We very much enjoyed and would recommend. Close to downtown Estes. We will definitely be back. read more

My guy and I had a great time at Loveland Cottages! We were in #17 for two nights in July. The cottage was right on the river. The sound of the water was so relaxing. I could just sit on the patio and watch the water rush by for hours. We even saw a couple deer on the opposite bank. The cottage itself is rustic but quaint. It had a small kitchen area, a sitting area with a small table and a couch (the TV was older but we never even turned it on) and a separate bedroom with a queen sized bed. The bathroom was small but adequate. At night we left the windows open to enjoy the sounds of the water as well as the fresh air. The place was quiet, even with it being fully rented out and we both slept really well. The people working in the office were friendly and even showed us the cottage beforehand to make sure we were good with everything. The only bad thing was that the wifi was pretty spotty but I took it as a good excuse to unplug for a while. And there was really no phone service if that's a concern. Overall we really enjoyed our time in the woods and would not hesitate to stay there again. read more

Let me start with RUDE!!! My wife and I booked this place through Hotels.com way before our visit. On the day of our visit we find out they canceled our reservation without notifying us. We were literally on our way to the resort when we found out. Called and talk to someone who was the bookkeeping manager and she was RUDE to us telling us they had no availability and they had booked our cottage. Thank god for hotels.com they hooked us up with a much better place and I will review it separately. I grew up in Estes Park I can tell you then customer service was a priority. We will never stay here. All you need to do is read the response to see how RUDE these people are. They never talked to us about our email. We were notified the day of the reservation about the cancelation by hotels.com also my wife was hung up on by these people. Totally unprofessional!! read more

We stayed here for about a week as we went hiking in RMNP and took a drive out to Wyoming. This place is really cute. It was still kinda cool at night, so we lit the heater. Each night, we kept putting out the pilot and couldn't get it back lit. I had to walk down to the office and tell them what I did and asked them if they could fix it for us. Without hesitation, they did. I thought they were going to be upset with us because they had to keep coming back down each day to our room to light it. They are really nice people and this is a great location to stay. We are planning another trip and we will definitely being staying here again. It was awesome that we were right on the river. We would wake up and enjoy our coffee with a nice view of the river and peace and quiet. Even though you are right next to the road, you do not even hear any of the road noise. If you are looking for a clean place with great customer service and is budget friendly, then this is the place to rent. I'm a big fan of this place. We booked three cabins for our family and had a great time. For the price we were very happy. The real draw here is the location and the decks. The decks are spacious with a nice grill, and they are right on the river! It's a great place to stay if you want to be able to gather with family on the porch and BBQ. I should note that both the cabins and deck sizes vary. When you call to book just let them know what you're looking for and they can direct you to the right cabin for you. I should be clear... The cabins are dated, the beds are not very comfortable, and the TV gets something like 3 stations (one was Discovery I think). Another thing I missed was a wood fireplace. They heating worked fine though. I recommend getting cabin 17 - it has the best view and feels the most cozy. There are big windows that make you feel like you are right on top of the Big Thompson. read more

The best way to describe this place is quaint. The cottages are older but they are neat and clean. The owners are extremely nice and were pleasant to us. The back deck is amazing - right on the water where we were visited by elk and hummingbirds. Very relaxing. Being able to cook our own meals in the fully equipped kitchen or with the grill was great (they even provide charcoal if you ask). I'll be honest that the WiFi was almost non-existent (but we didn't care) and the pillows and towels need upgrading. We would definitely recommend this place for someone who wants to get away from it all a bit without actually camping. read more

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights while hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. The decor was outdated (no big deal), the queen bed uncomfortable and the shower stall was old. Though the sink and toilet were updated and actual bathroom was clean. There is no AC for summer but there are space heaters for winter. The windows are old but do open up to let a breeze in when the front and back doors are open, which is nice during warmer weather. The loveseat was actually comfy and TV got a few basic channels including Discovery Channel. The Wi-fi sucks, but let's face it, we weren't here for the internet use anyway. The kitchen area was also very outdated but fully equipped and a newer full fridge/freezer and gas stove top with oven was nice. We tend to make most of our meals. It was nice to also have the Big Thompson river behind our deck. Not luxurious, but we didn't spend much time here and it was very affordable, so it worked. You may even get lucky and catch an elk or two in the yard when you wake up like we did. :-) read more

Loveland Heights Cottages is cozy. It is like visiting an elderly great-aunt's house. The furnishings are older and the décor is not coordinated. The cottages are old, and the windows and doors tend to stick. Their well water has an iron taste and it takes a while for it to heat up for showers and dishwashing. If you must have glossy furnishings that are color-coordinated and high-speed internet that actually works, then this is not the place for you. If you love cozy comfort, you have found a winner. Why would anybody choose to stay at Loveland Heights Cottages? First, it is clean. There is a hint of bleach in the air. I also love a full-size fridge, and the one there is large and keeps food perfectly cold. The freezer is roomy enough to contain a bag of ice AND all of my frozen food. I loved the gas stove with a working oven. Cooking a real meal was easy, since that was a fabulous stove. There was also a microwave and a real coffee pot. We could make more than a tiny pot of coffee. Have I mentioned the deck? It is right next to the Big Thompson River. The water rolling down the river with the white caps, the sound of the rushing water is amazing. It is so close to the water that you could fish from the deck! The deck had a table, chairs, and charcoal grill. Relaxing on the deck and watching the birds fly around is worth the price of the cabin. We enjoyed reading, decorative knot tying, doing art work, and watching stars at night. Cabin 9 had two bedrooms. One had a queen bed, while the other had a double. There was plenty of dresser space. With the relaxing deck, marvelous kitchen and comfy beds, our stay was quite comfortable. I would give these cabins four stars, and if the wi-fi had worked, I would have given it five stars. read more

My children, grandchildren & I stayed for a week. I was looking for a more "old fashioned " type of resort & it was perfect. Our adjoining cottages overlooked the Big Thompson River. My family and I stayed here for two days on our summer vacation to Colorado. The price was very reasonable and the staff was very friendly. The porch on each cottage backs right up to the river and the view is great! The amenities inside the cabin aren't up to date but considering our time was spent mostly outside it didn't matter to us. I have passed these cabins for years and have thought how cute they were, but actually staying there was very disappointing. I loved the views. The deck of our cabin was a few feet from the river. The cabins were quaint; however they need some updating. The big problem was no hot water and when there are 5 people needing to shower and it takes 15 minutes for the water to get lukewarm. That is very frustrating. They knew there was an issue because the first thing he did was check the hot water and then called someone to turn the temperature up when that didn't work they called in a plumber who said it was working. The plumber never came to our cabin and checked the hot water. The other issue is that they advertise wifi, but the wifi only works at the main office. This didn't bother me as much as my teenage boys. We had planned on staying two nights and ending only staying one. If it were my business I would have a discount for not having hot water but that was not done. read more

Wow, we stayed at loveland heights last 2 years. One year we stayed in cabin 9. Gorgeous. Last year cabin 15. The owner went in and put new cabinets , countertops, sinks. Treated poorly and really afraid of the owners and family members of Loveland Heights Cottages. I would not recommend the stay at Loveland Heights Cottages. After a pleasant stay in this very dated cottage with a beautiful view we were greeted with a pounding hard knock by the owner asking if we knew what time it was and that we were to be out at 10am. We asked politely for a late check out and we denied so said we would be out quickly. I finished washing the dishes and was out by 10:45. As we exited and packed our car we planned to just fish for about a 1/2 hour as that was available with our stay. As we approached the back the male manager laughed and stated: "Oh no.... your time is done here. You are now trespassing and you need to vacate our property now!" I replied that he was not being very nice and that I had expected better customer service. He replied very angrily that I have broken the contract to be out by 10am and now I am ruining his 4th of July! I asked if he could work on other units till we were out but they were up the street and had to wait for us, so really we were not the cause of a ruined 4th of July but he has a job that required him to work, so it would not be our fault. I then stated; as he was very aggressive and scary, that I did know how to write a review, and then the wife states that if I did they would sue us for libel. You would assume the behavior we had received would come from some sort of problem or unruly act on our behalf to come to this type of aggressive behavior for the management and owners of this facility. There was no noise, no drinking just coming in at 10pm and going straight to bed to have another fun day in Estes. I am not only very afraid of them, but very disappointed in this type of behavior. Many people come to our state and particularly Estes Park from all over the world. Every person or even one person can put the image of Estes Park and Colorado in their minds as the behavior and culture of our towns and states. Many depend on the income they receive from tourism. You would think they would treat people with respect and use a little common sense with customer service. read more

Rustic with all the ammenities! Its location on the Big Thompson River is beautiful and the sounds of the river will rock you to sleep! We enjoyed Beverly and her family along with the great fishing in the river behind the cottage. The views from the deck are beautiful and we experienced NO MOSQUITOES! Estes Park is just a mile down the road and you can do the tourist shuffle there if you want, if you quiet country, just hang out on your deck by the river! We loved it and will return! read more
