Leaving Fort Collins, head West on hwy 14... past the little community of Poudre Canyon... past…read moreMishawaka... past so many other campgrounds that you finally start to wonder if you'll end up in Laramie, WY... ...and then FINALLY you'll hit Kelly Flats. Don't worry, it's worth it. Kelly Flats Campground is located 35 miles west of Fort Collins in the Poudre Canyon. Of the 29 available sites, most are either right on the river or a mere few steps away. It's low enough to wade and tube in the late-fall, but it is COLD. Bring your fishing pole... you might just catch yourself a delicious trout! The campground host keeps the bathrooms IMMACULATE, which is a huge bonus. No spiders! Most of the bathrooms are wheelchair ready. Almost all the sites are car/RV/trailer accessible, but there are six that are walk-in tent-only. Not surprisingly, these six boast the best spots on the river. They're also a bit more secluded. Even so, the other sites are spaced well enough apart so the slightly rowdy won't step on the toes of the family campers (or vice versa!). It's a great set-up. Dogs are welcome, but need to be tied up at your campground. They're free to frolic down by the river, though! Site 10 (walk-in) has a cool little "swimming pool" of river rocks built up... and it's probably really nice during the early summer months when the river's a bit higher. All sites have picnic tables and fire grates. You can buy wood from the camp host for $7 a bundle, but I recommend getting it at the Conoco in town for half the price. There isn't much to gather at the campground. One thing to note: there are TONS of yellowjackets. I don't know if it's because we camped late in the season, but those buggers were aggressive and mean. And EVERYWHERE. You'd be smart to pack one or two of those yellow wasp traps. As camping goes, Kelly Flats is far enough out there to be really gorgeous and secluded, but developed enough to feel safe and fun for even the littlest campers. We took our one-year-old and he had a blast! We'll be back next summer for sure...!

I had been to this park many, many moons ago. It was nice but since then - WOW!…read more All "neighborhoods" are well maintained and clean. The bathrooms sparkle despite being poop pits. They are cleaned many times a day. We found people are respectful and keep their dogs under control. They also have lockers at each site to put food in. There is a nice loop trail with an option to go a little further. If you do the short loop, be careful you don't miss the hard turn about 100 degrees to the left to head back to camp at the wooden sign on the trail. Enjoy!

We have been going to Mountain Park for 25 years. The new Company managing the Park is the worst…read morethe Park has ever seen. We never saw a bathroom or showers cleaned in the 6 days we were there. Out of order showers, the ones that did work offered only cold water. The former Management Company was great. These new camp hosts never even raked or cleaned a site the entire time. It is shameful that this Company was awarded this contract. Pay no attention to reviews before this year, it used to be managed amazingly but in 2025 they awarded the job to a Company that does nothing.

Sometimes trips are hard to plan in advance, and we were ISO a spot with first come, first serve sites. Kudos to the universe for allowing the stars to align in our favor! + Along the Middle St. Vrain Creek + Two vault toilets located centrally between campsites + One fire ring (with grates) per site + Firewood available on property for $9 + Sizable tent pad, bear locker and picnic table + Walking distance to trailhead + Reservable and non-reservable campsites + 8 people allowed per campsite + Pets allowed We had an extremely enjoyable camping trip a few weeks back. Roughly an hour and a half from our house in Denver, Peaceful Valley Campground made us feel like we were thousands of miles away from civilization. For reference, the campground is about 8 miles away from the ever-popular Brainard Lake Recreation Area. We did experience some rain on Saturday afternoon which was a damper (pun intended). But because of that rain we were treated to the most spectacular rainbow and sunset. It was magical, just look at the pictures I got. The consensus was that we'd come back in a heartbeat next year. There's nothing better than going to sleep at night with the sound of a vibrant creek in the background. We're creekside campers and Peaceful Valley delivered an A+ trip for us!

I had to take the initiative and just drive here just to make sure that it was open and what we were able to do. I was delighted to find such a beautiful park right along the river bank. Have the ability to tube and have the little ones play. Children can play, and there is also a kid pool (a definite bonus). I was afraid that it would get packed and we end up not being able to stay. So I was left behind, and my husband went back to get the rest of the family. Since it is Monday, I figure it is not going to get too busy. But, I am not going to take a chance. This spot should be on the list of visiting places. Especially right now that Boulder creek is closed and many other outdoor activities.

Well, where we are from we don't have mosquitoes by our lakes! Just not a nice person at all, could care a less if you were there at all. Then we parked and set up and waited till it cooled off to 89 degrees, lol, to get in hot tub and unfortunately it was 109 degrees and they had a chlorine floater under the lid making the hot tub completely unusable! Please do your research on chlorine floater in hot tubs-- not good for you. Plus we wanted to soak not get cooked. We turned it down for the next night but the controls did not work , neither did the jets! Guess what they said they would look at it, but you can still get in it !?! What?? Burns, off gassing yeah no thanks. There was also a big fight between the live ins and watched people get kicked out after 8pm! And the live in guy right next to us came in each night between 9:30 and 10:00 pm and turned on his big bulb blinding string lights 10 ft from our bedroom window and left them on all night!!! Why? This is a park of mostly long-termers, but they have a few spots for people passing through as well. We found this to be the best park close to Estes, without the Estes prices...and with good WiFi. At the back of the park is an irrigation channel with a nice walking path along it. Good for taking the dogs out. There is a large hill behind the park, so it's pretty quiet. Just across the street, about a mile or so up the road (towards Loveland) is Devil's Backbone. It's has a nice parking area with a lot of great walking/biking/equestrian trials. Easy hiking with great scenery. We camped here in a motorhome, and our inverter died, so we had no hot water for the week we had to wait on the arrival for a new one . Thank goodness for nice bathrooms!

This year the walk in tent sites are closed due to hazardous trees (sound funny - but i went over and looked and yeah, trees down everywhere It costs $5 extra dollars to get into the lake per night. So a weekend is an additional $10 on top of your site fee and reservation fee. Snow - there was still some there in july and it could come again as early as august.. you never know! Bring layers and big boots for hiking! Pros: It is within walking distance to the lake. The views are absolutely amazing. All the peaks! The clouds and fog did seem to descend right on top of you, so be prepared to be wet occasionally Tons of hiking trails! Beautiful - did i mention that? Sites are well maintained, flat Fire pits are nicely maintained The roads are paved, potable water, vault toilets, but plenty around and they don't smell terrible! See you there soon!

Avoid Riverview -- Safety & Maintenance Issues…read more We stayed three nights to visit the Rockies, but it was about an hour's drive--much farther than advertised. The park is dominated by seasonal or long-term residents, many with cluttered sites. The motorhome next to us was undrivable, surrounded by junk, and the residents kept two very aggressive dogs that were a constant concern. Facilities were poorly maintained. Only 2 of the 6 washers worked, and just 1 dryer--forcing us to do laundry in town. Most troubling was what happened the day we left: I saw a man leading a young woman by her neck, her hands behind her back. She gave the universal distress signal as she passed. I tried to follow but lost them on the far side of the park. I immediately reported it to the office and called the police. Between the safety concerns, poor maintenance, and distance from the Rockies, we will not return.

They have a nice little park area along the river towards the entrance of the park. The campground store has a nice selection of souvenirs, RV necessities, and snacks to choose from. The staff (who are all insanely amazing) and the long term guests make it feel like home, and you really feel the sense of community here. I'm nomad who is usually not in a campground for more than a week, and and definitely wasn't planning on staying here for more than a month. However, I've been here for four months so far, and I think that says a lot about how great it is here. It's also nice to see the staff out working on little projects or cleaning up daily. I've been to some RV campgrounds that feel run down due to the lack of maintenance. This shows that they care about the park. Going back to my comment about the staff being amazing: The owners and management are great as well. The staff always speaks highly about how easy they are to work with, and how much they care about their employees and guests.
