I had to take the initiative and just drive here just to make sure that it was open and what we were able to do. I was delighted to find such a beautiful park right along the river bank. Have the ability to tube and have the little ones play. Children can play, and there is also a kid pool (a definite bonus). I was afraid that it would get packed and we end up not being able to stay. So I was left behind, and my husband went back to get the rest of the family. Since it is Monday, I figure it is not going to get too busy. But, I am not going to take a chance. This spot should be on the list of visiting places. Especially right now that Boulder creek is closed and many other outdoor activities.

This is a park of mostly long-termers, but they have a few spots for people passing through as well. We found this to be the best park close to Estes, without the Estes prices...and with good WiFi. At the back of the park is an irrigation channel with a nice walking path along it. Good for taking the dogs out. There is a large hill behind the park, so it's pretty quiet. Just across the street, about a mile or so up the road (towards Loveland) is Devil's Backbone. It's has a nice parking area with a lot of great walking/biking/equestrian trials. Easy hiking with great scenery. We camped here in a motorhome, and our inverter died, so we had no hot water for the week we had to wait on the arrival for a new one . Great campground that's a short drive from Estes Park. The premium sites (especially near the…read moreriver) are spacious, so you don't feel like you're parked on top of your neighbors. They have a nice little park area along the river towards the entrance of the park. The campground store has a nice selection of souvenirs, RV necessities, and snacks to choose from. The staff (who are all insanely amazing) and the long term guests make it feel like home, and you really feel the sense of community here. I'm nomad who is usually not in a campground for more than a week, and and definitely wasn't planning on staying here for more than a month. However, I've been here for four months so far, and I think that says a lot about how great it is here. It's also nice to see the staff out working on little projects or cleaning up daily. I've been to some RV campgrounds that feel run down due to the lack of maintenance. This shows that they care about the park. Going back to my comment about the staff being amazing: The owners and management are great as well. The staff always speaks highly about how easy they are to work with, and how much they care about their employees and guests.

Avoid Riverview -- Safety & Maintenance Issues…read more We stayed three nights to visit the Rockies, but it was about an hour's drive--much farther than advertised. The park is dominated by seasonal or long-term residents, many with cluttered sites. The motorhome next to us was undrivable, surrounded by junk, and the residents kept two very aggressive dogs that were a constant concern. Facilities were poorly maintained. Only 2 of the 6 washers worked, and just 1 dryer--forcing us to do laundry in town. Most troubling was what happened the day we left: I saw a man leading a young woman by her neck, her hands behind her back. She gave the universal distress signal as she passed. I tried to follow but lost them on the far side of the park. I immediately reported it to the office and called the police. Between the safety concerns, poor maintenance, and distance from the Rockies, we will not return.

They were so diligent, keeping the camp clean (especially the toilets!), preserving the natural beauty of the campground, enforcing the rules about protecting the park from the serious threat of fires, and just generally being fun to talk to. Between site 8 and 9 has best views of the mountains. Go somewhere else if you don't give a crap about burning down the forest and don't want to stick to rules set respect other campers.

**1 Star -- Site #98 is NOT Safe for Large RVs**…read more We stayed at Jellystone Park Estes Park for three nights in site #98 with our 36-foot fifth wheel. We paid $325.50 for our stay and left with expensive damage to our truck because, in my opinion, this site should never be assigned to an RV of this size. Site #98 is located on a hill and requires a very tight left turn from a one-way road, with a drop-off on one side and a large boulder retaining wall on the other. When an employee escorted us to the site, he immediately told us it was a difficult site for big fifth wheels and even said another camper had ripped off his fender trying to back into it. My husband is very experienced backing our fifth wheel, and after several attempts with direction from the campground employee, he was able to get us into the site. Unfortunately, getting OUT was even worse. When we left, my husband had to swing the truck as far to the right as possible to keep the fifth wheel tires from going off the drop-off on the left. At one point, half of our left-side tires were hanging off the edge. While I was outside watching the tires and trying to help navigate this extremely precarious situation, the truck caught one of the boulders from the retaining wall on the right, which became wedged underneath our running board. We then had to JACK UP OUR TRUCK--with our 36-foot fifth wheel still attached and sitting dangerously close to the edge of a hill--just to get the truck off the boulder. What makes this situation especially frustrating is what happened afterward. A very kind campground employee who came to help us expressed his own frustration that they continue putting large RVs in this site. He explained that after the cabins across the road were installed, along with the retaining wall, there was no longer enough room for big RVs to safely pull out of site #98. While I waited to speak with the manager, a THIRD employee also acknowledged to me that they have had issues with this site. Yet when the manager finally came to speak with us, she claimed she had NO knowledge of site #98 being a problem and told us they allow RVs up to 38 feet in it. When I told her they should not be putting RVs that large in this site, her response was, **"It's 2026 and they can't tell people what they can put in a site."** That response was unbelievable to me. A campground absolutely can--and should--determine what size RV can safely fit into and maneuver through a particular site. Three separate employees either warned us about this site or acknowledged problems with it, including one who specifically said there is no longer enough room for large RVs to pull out after the cabins and retaining wall were added. Yet management continues allowing RVs up to 38 feet in the site. We were offered no solution for the damage to our truck, and management took no accountability for continuing to place large RVs in a site their own employees acknowledge has had problems. We paid $325.50 for three nights and walked away with a damaged truck and an incredibly stressful--and potentially dangerous--experience. We will NEVER stay at this campground again. If you have a fifth wheel or RV over 30 feet, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere and specifically avoiding **site #98**. Campgrounds have a responsibility to assign rigs to sites they can safely enter AND exit. Based on our experience, Jellystone Estes Park failed to do that.

Eagle Campground is more of a primitive trype camping to those expecting lots of frills and amenities. But this place is great! We camp above the dam and we had site E19 this time. A great site with lots of shade. Campground is electric only with a couple of water spigots here and there. Either fill up before you go or you can fill at the dump station a couple of miles away at the ranger station, where you get your pass. Interior roads are rough so go slow. Most sites are a bit unlevel, so bring your leveling blocks. The big draw is the lake! 3 miles long and 1 mile wide it's great for watersports. Ramps are right across from the campground and very convenient. Marina store is good, with a bit of everything.

We had a quick stay at one of the sites at Eagle campground (#35) and it was fine. We weren't at…read morethe campsite too much as we were back and forth to fort collins for family stuff. Our campsite was level and spaced out enough so we weren't on top of one another. A few issues were that the pass machine at the southern entrance was out of order and all the signs in the campground said not to enter without a pass, under penalty of death. Well, we ignored that and set up, then grabbed our pass when we headed out of the north gate. Get your water before you go in. Also, not a lot (none?) trashcans in the campground area. Had to go to the central day use area to find a trash can. Would go again, but will have lower expectations next time.
