Love this place and it had become our go to Brunch spot on Saturdays when not working. Today though? Not good. Waited an hour from the time seated till food arrived and order was not correct and food quality not the same. Our server refused to look our way from the time we ordered till food was ready, which was unfortunate as we wanted to order an additional coffee order. Another server was too busy walking around the Dining Room snacking on a waffle. My husband had to get up and get silverware as that was not brought to the table. Will try again in a few months and see if it has gotten back to the normal excellent service and food quality. read more

Just found this little jewel on YELP after church this week. Went in and were greeted by the friendly staff. I had my standard breakfast - 2 eggs over easy with hash browns, biscuits & gravy. My wife chose b & g as well. Eggs cooked perfectly; crispy potatoes and excellent biscuits, sausage patties and gravy. Their gravy is legit...best we've found since we moved here 18 months ago. This was a nice surprise, we dropped in for a brunch. Lots of breakfast items to pick from. The coffee was good and there are options for other coffee drinks. The service here was top notch! My colleague is celiac and ordered a gluten free bread with her eggs Benedict. They were out, so they went to the Albertson's next door for her! (Turns out they were out too, but we appreciated the effort!) Aesthetic was great. I think the cleaner they use on the floor is a bit sticky but overall the place seems very well kept. I thought my grilled cheese sandwich was fine. Tasty but nothing to write home about. The fries were seasoned well but had that sort of "day old" staleness that fries get. The real standouts for me were the strawberry guava pop tart and the Vietnamese iced coffee. I would come back again and again for these two things alone!! This place is cute, simple, and tastefully decorated. It has big windows with natural light and lots of seating. They offer counter service, which always leaves me wondering if I'm supposed to tip or not? They have several menu options that were appealing to me, but I had my heart set on the chicken in a biscuit. I obviously got the chicken in a biscuit, but I subbed the pepper gravy for the jalapeño cheddar gravy. It comes with eggs and your choice of a side. Everything was plated nicely and looked very appetizing. The food (especially the chicken) came out piping hot. I definitely burnt my tongue, bc I was so excited to try it! The breaded part on the chicken was very dark and perhaps a little over cooked? The breading practically all fell off when I tried to cut the chicken. As for the biscuits, I'm sure they bake them fresh every day, but mine was a little on the dry side. Maybe it's bc we came towards closing time? The jalapeño cheddar gravy was my favorite part. It was sooo good! It had a lot of flavor and a slight kick. It had little chunks of jalapeños throughout and a nice cheddar taste. Yum! Overall, I might have come on a funky day or maybe I need to come earlier when the biscuits are just made. I had really high expectations for my food today and was a little disappointed. It was still good though, just not as fantastic as I was hoping for. I do think I would come back. I really want to try their grilled cheese and their portobello burger next time. read more

Wood and Grain Bistro is located in the same place as our one time favorite Chinese food place. They've long since closed but it was nostalgic to be in the same location. The food and the coffee are a solid 5. We had avocado toast which came with a nice spring mix and chicken and biscuit - add hash browns. It was all incredibly delicious! We came at a busy time and it was very loud. Just something to keep in mind if you're coming to talk - it wasn't conducive to that but overall, we enjoyed it very much! read more

I found out about this spot at a Yelp Elite Event - thank you Kendall & Krewe! During that elite event, this restaurant served a small bite of their chicken and waffles, and that's exactly what I ordered the Saturday I went. The waffle was fluffy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. The chicken breast was perfectly fried and seasoned, and shockingly not salty - they got the seasoning right! It came with a yummy cinnamon butter and syrup on the side. I chose fresh fruit as my side and added the bottomless coffee when I saw that it was from Texas coffee roasters, Avoca. It only took my hubbs about 15 minutes to devour his Chicken fried chicken plate with a side of hash browns. The chicken on this dish was also seasoned perfectly.....even the gravy was yummy. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, but missed being perfect by the interior needing some seasoning. You can actually see the restaurant from the freeway. It's in a strip mall - lots of free parking. The interior is clean and welcoming, but a tad small for as popular as it is. We arrived around 11AM on a Saturday and managed to snag one of the last two available tables. Customers were still streaming in. There is also bar styled seating along the windows. They may have to knock out a wall as word gets out about how good the food is here :-D They are a breakfast & brunch spot, so they close earlier than most restaurants. I normally don't give 5 stars on a first trip to a restaurant. I was going to wait until I could try one of their house made coffee drinks, but service was so good coupled with great food, so that equals a 5 star visit. I fully appreciate when a busy place hires enough and the right staff so that employees remain professional and friendly even during very busy times. This café has vibes like a cool hang out spot that would be in Dallas, but I'm so glad that it's nearby in Bedford. read more

I have been here several times and am never disappointed. They have great service and everyone is extremely friendly. There is plenty of seating and is nicely decorated. You place your order and pay at the beginning so you can get in and out pretty quickly if you're short on time. They recently added chilaquiles which is on one of my personal favorites! It was delicious!! The chips were thicker and crispy which is the traditional chips used. The sauce was not spicy, and had a nice zip of lime to it. Overall the meal was exceptional and I will definitely get it again. It you haven't been to Wood and Grain, you should really give them a try. read more

I've visited Wood & Grain twice and while it's great to have such a place in the neighborhood, the food is underwhelming. You order and pay at the counter which is really nice, quick, and easy. They serve traditional breakfast items like French toast, eggs, biscuits, etc. They have coffee drinks too. I've had the biscuits and French toast and both were very dry and boring...much better made at home. They do have iced coffee which I would return for if I feel like going in for it. The setting is warm, but not quite cozy. They have chairs and tables and a bookshelf, but no cushy seats or carpet which makes it a little colder feeling rather than cozy. I don't think I would return to eat here but I hope they stay open and in business for other people who like it here and for the sake of keeping cute little restaurants in Bedford. read more

I ordered todays specialty. Chilaquiles and a stack of pancakes. The Chilaquiled was very tasty. Pancakes was just okay, had to ask for butter, syrup was nice and hot. Coffee was self service - awful, it was like drinking coffee water. I told them the coffee was water, they told me that was how the regular was, however, I can pay for a shot to make it stronger. Sorry, no I already paid$3.00 for coffee that was self-service. I'm sure the other food is good. But, this is not my kind of breakfast joint. Service - is not for me, I like to order from my table and served. Coffee should be serve regular at the table. It's easy to miss Wood & Grain Bistro since it's tucked away in a shopping strip, but you must go! It only takes one visit, and you'll be hooked on this unassuming Bedford treasure. Goldilocks would call everything on their brunch menu "just right". Just remembering the taste of the pork belly Benedict has me lost in my thoughts. I take my out of town visitors here and they always love it! My only issue is that once I'm there, I have trouble leaving. They have wonderful decadent and indulgent items as well as lighter/cleaner options for everyone's preferences. One of my must order recs is going to be the Vietnamese iced coffee. I was on my way to work and felt like I needed a breakfast that would keep my stomach full throughout my work day......surprisingly, Wood & Grain is located near the exit that I take to get to my office. When it comes to breakfast, I normally go for chicken & waffles because 1) I'm not a fan of eggs or hash browns & 2) I make the best pancakes. So, with that being said the only other option is French toast or chicken & waffles, lol. I placed an order to go so the picture will show my food once I made it to my office. The waffle was a tad bit soggy but that's probably from the steam and being in the box. The flavor of the waffle was really good, it was sweet just right to taste. They provided a cinnamon butter, that I didn't need because the waffle held it's on w/o the butter. The chicken breast was seasoned well, it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The order also came with a choice of mixed fruit, hash browns or breakfast potatoes. I had fruit, which included sliced oranges, strawberries and red grapes. If we can beat the church crowds, we visit for breakfast. However, they recently got rid of my favorite, hash. I like the benedict dishes, especially since there's one I can eat during Lent. Yolo Yelp! Woke up, warmed up with a hot shower. What to do when it's Sunday, cold outside, breakfast is beckoning? Bust out the phone and yelp somewhere new to break the fast. Was up for the drive to Dallas but my wallet asked me to place it's contents into my own little community. I obliged. The place is super clean, trendy and nice. Nice seating arrangements and decor. Could easily fit in West 7th or Greenville Ave. Hipsterish. Order at the counter then seat yourself. They need to figure a better way to serve coffee. You get a cup and walk from a central beverage station for coffee and cream, then walk past other patrons..with hot coffee. Huh? Accident waiting to happen. Also, some of us are germophobes that do not want to go from grabbing the handles of those containers the last sneezer touched, to our bacon. Invest in those disposable, sanitary creamer cups or figure a clean, responsible, less gross way of supplying creamer and coffee. You have a good thing going but the devil is in the details. Too many folks don't wash hands after hitting the John, then they grab coffee and cream handles sharing their business with other patrons. Yuck. Fix it or count me out. Lost a star for making me shake hands with R.Kelly types , strangers, for a sip of coffee. Oh yeah. Nother tidbit. I tipped but in retrospect, why? I ordered at a counter with menu in hand. I sat myself. Had to get my own coffee and refills. The meal for two was over $33 for french toast that was spectacular but abundant at other spots I frequent at that price point with full table service. Looking back I should have tipped myself since I basically served me. Dropping off silverware and my food is not tip worthy within the segment you have entered at your current price point. Even Denny's will pour your coffee so you don't trip and scald another patron or yourself. Clean up aisle 3. Would hate to see such an awesome spot fold for the minutia. That toast is the real deal. Location/Parking: This restaurant was very easy to find! It is located next to a cycle gear store and a vape shop, buy their signage can't be missed! Especially if you're looking for it! As far as parking is concerned, since it's sort of a strip mall situation, there is PLENTY of parking to choose from! We even were able to get front row parking during brunch on Saturday! How to Order/Seating: When we walked in, the really nice staff welcomed us very politely and gestured to a QR code by the entrance. They said to scan the code and we will be able to pull up a menu to order from. Alternatively, they have menus taped to the counter so you can walk up there to also view what they have to offer. We placed our order at the counter and then had a seat wherever we wanted. Atmosphere: This is such a cute and quaint little breakfast/brunch spot. It has a few books in the front entrance that gives it a very "coffee shop" vibe. The whole place is just very comfy and warm and inviting. If we had the time, this is the kind of place I would enjoy coming to sip coffee with friends and chat over brunch with them for sure! Despite it's comfy coffee shop-esque aesthetic, this restaurant really didn't feel like it required you to dress up. We wore jeans and t shirts and didn't feel out of place at all. Covid Precautions: They do request guests wear masks, and all staff members are wearing masks also. I can't remember if they offered hand sanitizer but I want to say I think they did at the counter. They also had a plexiglass screen at the counter as well. I did notice they cleaned and sanitized after their customers, so that was reassuring as well. They do not check temperatures when entering. Service: Although we ordered our food at the counter, our service was honestly spectacular. The staff came to check on our table often and even though we could get our drinks ourselves at their fountain machine, I felt like their service exceeded my expectations indefinitely. They brought us extra ketchup, syrup, salt and pepper. They even offered to-go cups when they came to ask if we wanted to-go boxes! Our group were taken care of and I felt valued as a dine-in customer. Overall: We loved this place! The food Quality was fantastic. The coffee was delicious. The service was outstanding. Stopped in on a Saturday for brunch. There were 5 other tables of guests so I was like yeah this place must be good. There's an arrow on the wall directing you to take a menu so we did. I ordered the avocado toast and my husband ordered eggs Benedict with hashbrowns. Ohhh and I ordered crispy bacon. The only crazy thing that happened was the order taker asked if we were together. Well yes for 25 years as a matter of fact. I thought this was just such a strange question to ask a couple. Mine was awesome. It came with a lightly dressed salad of spring mix and a tangy vinaigrette along with avocado on sour dough bread. I would have preferred both sides of the bread to be toasted but the taste was good.
