I truly wanted to love this place based off of so many 5 star reviews. This isn't far from our house, so we were thrilled at the possibility of another breakfast/brunch joint to add into our rotation. Well, to start off - this place has counter service. Which I honestly despise. I won't lie... I love looking over a menu for a few moments, taking it all in, watching trays of delicious food go by, and speaking with the waitstaff and asking their favorites. Walking in and almost immediately having to decide what to order for me creates anxiety. I simply don't like it. I don't want to be rushed. But that's me. I recognize everyone is different. During our breakfast we had the opportunity to encounter the wife and husband team owners. Each at different times while we were there. We were greeted by friendly front of the house staff, eager to take our orders. The girl taking our order was plugging in extra crispy/burnt bacon for her breakfast tacos (my wife is a monster - she loves her bacon burnt!) when the wife owner took over to plug in the request. I'm confident the girl actually taking our order wasn't struggling. Nor was she taking her sweet time. I was thrown off by that... and felt it was rude. However, growing up in a restaurant family, I get your blood sweat and tears goes into making things successful. It felt uncalled for though. This restaurant is lightly decorated. Almost like your second apartment. Not your first, because it has a little more "stuff" and decorations than being broke in a first apartment. The lighting is cool and modern. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable. Borderline torcher chamber. Like an interrogation chair. You want to confess to any crime just to get out of there! Anyone with butt cheeks wider than a piece of paper isn't comfortably fitting in there. Seriously...I told my wife I wanted to take a picture of my ass and hips shoved in there to prove my point. She politely told me that was inappropriate. Being a fan of stained concrete floors, I very much approve of the flooring choice in the restaurant. It's easily cleaned up and there's never any smelly carpet. However, stained concrete, metal chairs, and an open ceiling come with a major drawback; there's absolutely nothing to absorb sounds in the place. Even with only 4 other tables in the restaurant, it was loud. Sounds just bounce off of everything. They need to work on something with noise dampening. Onto the food!! We ordered two specialty coffees. A 16oz mocha and 12oz Bedford Delight. Because of the size differences in our drinks, the larger mocha arrived in a to-go cup and the smaller Bedford Delight arrived in a nice mug. Sitting down for breakfast you don't want a to-go cup in a restaurant. Guys, just order bigger mugs for people getting large coffees! The Bedford Delight was exactly that - quite delightful! It's infused with cinnamon and so tasty!!! I would definitely run by here to get this to-go! Our food was delivered to the table by the husband owner. The bacon on the breakfast tacos was medium and not crispy and he was kind enough to take it back to correct the issue. The avocado toast has room for improvement. While I absolutely love the amount of avocado, the flavor was lacking. Wood and Grain uses an ENTIRE avocado on their avocado toast. I have yet to go to any restaurant that is that kind. The avocado has a pinch of salt, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes. The minuscule amount of seasoning doesn't get into the avocado. It felt like this fish was more for presentación than flavor. Mash that stuff up and toss in some seasoning! I ordered the pork belly eggs Benedict. Which comes on a wonderful homemade thyme biscuit. The biscuit was possibly my favorite part of the entire meal. Each side of the biscuit comes with two slices of pork belly. The pork belly has a nice flavor. Two of my pieces were a little over cooked, which doesn't leave you with that melt in your mouth tastiness we all desire in a good pork belly. I love a good hollandaise sauce and ordered extra. As you can see from my picture, the hollandaise arrived broken. Disappointing... Not sure if I'll come back for more than that delicious Bedford Delight. read more

Walked into this cute space and couldn't wait to try it. The coffees were yummy! The Nirvana (which we got cold) was huge for a small, and it had lots of whip cream. The Honey Bee Breve was creamy and tasty with a great foam. Be careful of that last sip, there was a ton of honey at the bottom, lol. The quiche had lots of ham with veggies and came with two strips of bacon and home potatoes. The lox toast had plenty of salmon and came with a great greens salad. The kid's waffle was very light and fluffy with some whip cream on top and a side of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, and orange slices). Perfect for just a few bites rather than a whole waffle. I would love to come and try the breakfast tacos next time and another coffee. Bon appétit! read more

This is my second visit here in three days because the menu had so many dishes I wanted to try! The first time was a "Toast Sampler" with Avocado Toast, Lox Toast, and Berry Compote toast. They were all very tasty, and there was no skimping on the toppings! Today I came back for the Short Rib Hash, and it was "stellar"! Served with two eggs and breakfast potatoes, the hash was wonderful mix of rib meat, peppers, potatoes, and onion. The restaurant is not fancy - it has sort of a industrial feel to it - and social distancing is enforced, as is mask wearing. The location is tucked away in a strip center just behind Mexican Inn off of Bedford Road. Do yourself a favor and go here for breakfast or lunch. You'll thank me! read more

I am a breakfast gal so had this bookmarked. I already looked at Yelo before making our way here on a Sunday mid morning. Surprisingly there were people but not a wait. Now, this is counter order/pay first. Some family may prefer the sit down and service in comfy booth. This place is steel chairs and not booth as far as I see. You order from a menu (I didn't usebit but it's one of those single page without pics). I recommended looking a pics online to save time. Got the eggs Florence (biscuit with poached eggs, spinach and hollandaise).. it was tasty but not filling.. didn't realize the egg was the only protein. The cobb salad with addition of grilled chicken was typical and nothing memorable. The waffle was alright and no uniqueness. The service was attentive and fast. No wait is a plus. Would I come back? Not anytime soon. I rather go Waffle House or Cracker Barrel somehow... I wanted to try a latte but next time when I meetuo with someone here.. Great atmosphere and staff was kind. I ordered a chai tea latte and the rum french toast. The chai tea latte tasted as if it was chai tea from a bag with flavorless foam on top. I don't traditionally sweeten my drinks, however, I had to add sugar as there was very little flavoring. When I went to get something to stir my drink with I was advised they would bring silverware to the table. When they did there was no spoon, just a fork knife. The French toast was very dry with no flavor. The bacon was burnt. The potatoes were so over seasoned I could not eat them. Everything but the drink was room temperature. It was very quiet as there was only three other tables while I was there. I would not go back but it was nice to try something different. read more

Found this gym via yelp search. Chose to meet a friend here for our monthly Sunday brunch. It was a bit unassuming in a strip mall along the highway. The brunch is menu ordering. You make your selection and walk to the register to make your purchase and are given a number. When our plates arrived I could not have been more immediately impressed. The presentation and food quality was absolutely exceptional. The portions were more than fair and most of our every morsel of the food was tasty. I rarely make a "happy plate". But today it absolutely happened! . My friend had a cup of coffee which she said was exceptional. It was served in a very cute mug. I gave up my coffee out of sheer excitement when I saw the StuBBorn brand soda on the fountain machine! I am an absolute sucker for the citrus hibiscus orange! I had the chicken fried chicken with potatoes fried crispy and my eggs with cheese. My friend had the steak and eggs served with a salad. We met the owners. They are absolutely delightful. Mav and I stopped by on a Saturday morning when we were feeling too lazy to make our own food at home (and he was REALLY craving a waffle). We drive by this place all the time, so it wasn't hard to find. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and very clean. When you walk in the door, you grab a menu and place your order at the counter. We were given a number and sat by the windows, looking out. Very family friendly place, but also a nice place to go have brunch with your significant other or a friend (or group of friends). I ordered the brioche french toast with a side of fruit (replaced the bacon with a side of scrambled eggs) and Mav ordered the waffle with breakfast potatoes and a side of eggs. The food was SO good. The brioche french toast that I had was done just right. I stole a few of Mav's potatoes and regretted my fruit side immediately! (I'll be back for you, potatoes!) To drink we had a coffee and a cappuccino. Nothing special, but it hit the caffeine spot. :) We enjoyed the atmosphere and food of this place. I love going here for brunch. It's not typically crowded or noisy. The chicken and waffles are amazing and the staff is friendly.

This location is so close to us. We came here on Mother's day a little before 9 am as we were told it gets busy after 9. I ordered the Almond Cappuccino which was okay. The food is something else though. I had the chicken and waffles with their cinnamon butter. It was so freaking good. The Chicken breast is fried and has great seasoning to it. The chicken was not dry at all. The chicken fried chicken here is really good as well. I would suggest to get the jalapeno gravy for the steak. The hash browns and breakfast potatoes are both really good. They are both flavorful. The brunch here is really good and I would definitely return. read more

I asked for an extra shot to dilute how sweet it was and she said she'd have to charge me for it. Instead, I was made a replacement drink with 3 shots and condensed milk on the side for no charge. Make it make sense. Wife had the steak and eggs. Steak ordered medium came medium rare, which was fine. But all we could taste was the char from the flat top. Normally I steer clear of this because I am not a fan of greasy chicken, but this is not what you will find here. It is perfectly crisp and fresh! I personally could just have the chicken with the biscuits and gravy and would be the happiest camper on earth. One of the most unique thing about this restaurant is that the owners have put all of their blood, sweat, and tears into this restaurant. The owner, Bee, actually did all of the wood work in the space and made all of the tables. Talk about being passionate about your space and putting your heart in soul into everything that the patrons will experience. They do not have any alcohol, but they offer specialty coffees and have a plethora of tea and soda options. Wood and Grain Bistro is a darling little gem just around the corner in an older strip center. Bit don't turn your nose up. Counter service, super cute and casual and the food is fresh and tasty. I had the Cobb Salad. Everything in the bowl was prepared perfectly and gorgeous to boot. They don't have traditional sodas if that is your thing, but ice tea (and oj) were available for self service during our late morning weekend visit. This brunch is so cute! I love that we order first then sit and they bring the food to us. The staff was so friendly, provided excellent service! The portions of the food was just perfect for me! The hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way I like it. They were not stingy with the smoked salmon at all! Not pictured was some bacon that seemed a little over cooked, but overall still great. First off, I will say that I will come back and give them another chance and update my review. I saw many positive reviews of this place both here and on NextDoor so we decided to give it a try. My expectations were high. I was pleasantly surprised to see breakfast available at lunch time and the quiche on the menu jumped out at me. The quiche was rather bland. The bacon was so crisp if I had tapped it on my plate it would have burst into a million shards. My wife had the steak and eggs and said the steak was perfectly cooked but a bit too fatty. Was here for a yelp event a while back and have been back a couple of times for brunch. Nice and clean and well decorated. When you walk in, there is a sign for you to grab a menu and order at the cashier/coffee bar before sitting at a table. It does get packed here but I like that the owner Nancy will give you a heads up. Each time she'll give us an eta on when food will be coming out before we even place our order. Our table will usually order different dishes to share and try. My favorite so far is the lox toast. I also like the thyme biscuit. I've been on an avocado kick so you can't go wrong with the avocado toast. The bed of greens are nice and fresh. The pork belly with the Benedict is a bit on the sweeter side. But the eggs are perfectly poached. If you're wanting something heavier the chicken fried chicken will do the trick. read more
