This was not a lovely experience albeit the restaurant was clean, well maintained and the staff were very efficient... to a fault. We walked in, not one of the 3 people working behind the counter acknowledged our presence. At the counter sat 3 people enjoying their food as well as a food delivery person who came in just behind us. We saw the signs above the grill "take a seat" and "counter service" - given there were others eating at the counter it felt safe to assume these signs are indeed accurate so we sat down ... 5 minutes passed with zero acknowledgment. They packed the delivery guy up and he left. We thought oh good, now they'll take our order. I was very much looking forward to trying the Spring Chicken sandwich featured. Alas we were totally ignored. Then the door swings open and a guy gets greeted and immediately asked what he'd like. To our shock and somewhat irritation I suggested that we leave. It was only at this point when we got to the door a person behind the counter offered to take our order. This is unacceptable bad service and we didn't appreciate the wait, being ignored as well as having someone be served that came in a well after us. Probably my favorite greasy smash burger spot in the city (7th street who?) Charlotte's special is amazing, but I also love their classic cheese burger and patty melt. Honestly everything is amazing. We needed a quick burger place before catching a show and this was perfect. We got our orders in quickly and luckily there were still some spots to sit. Located on the corner of 9th avenue, the location is very convenient. The space isn't too big but it has that comfortable burger joint feel you typically look for. Walking in, the service was attentive and thoughtful. I went towards closing time and there weren't many people so things moved pretty quick. They did confuse the order a bit - giving me bacon when I didn't ask for it, but I'll take it. Overall service and concept is great but I thought the food was lacking. I got the charlotte's burger which sounded like a juicy caramelized burger but in reality it was just overly salty overly crispy overcooked beef patty with not caramelized onions and sauce that didn't taste like anything. The fries were crispy but lacked depth to them - I couldn't really get a good taste of that potato. The fries and onion rings were really good. The order of fries could almost be cut in half it's so big. They are thicker cut fries. The fries and onion rings are fried perfectly; you get just the right amount of crispness. The single cheeseburger was okay. You really need a double. There was a lot of mayo on it but no ketchup, which is my preference. They weren't busy when we walked in around 4 on Saturday afternoon but soon after we started eating it got very busy with no seats available. There's about 11 bar seats. read more

First of all, I was already impressed before I took a bite of the food. Everything was extremely well packaged. Even though the fries & onion rings were just in a coffee cup, nothing fell out. That's cuz of their genius idea to stick the popsicle stick on them. They also contained everything in a cardboard tray like they do at stadiums which was also very smart. Attention to details matter and this was *chef's kiss. Moving on to the food, I don't have burgers very often but this was the best one in recent memory. It was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Loved every element of it. Fries were well seasoned and onion rings were great too. The small coffee cups do hold a sizable amount. I couldn't finish them both. Pro Tip: This type of meal never arrives piping hot and it's the dead of winter rn. So I had a lightbulb moment of preheating my oven at 350 while I waited for the food in case it needed a lil reheating. This was a great idea, as the food arrived just below optimum temperature enjoyability. I threw it in for less than 5 minutes and it was perfection.
