I loved the simplicity of the menu. There's a few pizzas to choose from & a few sandwiches to choose from. My husband got a slice of cheese & a slice of pepperoni, I got the Taylor & Travis sandwich (I'm a swiftie I had to.) I tried a bite of each pizza and it was crispy and delicious. Great sandwiches are hard to find. From Subway to Grocery stores you will find the same old sandwich. Ok to good but not great. At Lovers you have found a great sandwich. Attention to detail in every layer. House made bread/quality deli meat/fresh veggies that are kicked up a notch with seasoning and great spreads to compliment the entire meal. Honestly, their sandwiches are something you can make yourself at home and for cheaper. I got a slice of pepperoni pizza and it was warm for like 5 seconds, it was okay, but you're better off going to the pizza place across the street, which has bigger slices. I've been in here a few times now! It's nice how they always have new things and different pizza on the menu! It's exciting to go out and try new flavors that usually you can't find in Merced! I got the new Vodka sauce pizza and it was soooooo good! Can't wait to see what new pizza they make next! First and foremost, that fact that there was a vegan pizza option is amazing. It's usually just a salad, at every other place & I'm forced to awkwardly customize one of their non-vegan options. I personally found the sauce to be very flavorful, the zucchini was perfectly cooked, and the crust not too crispy, or soft. My boyfriend and I regretted not buying extra, to take home. Really tasty sandwich and pizza! Husband and I shared a slice of pepperoni and for my sandwich I had a Danny and Sandy and they were both delicious and different than other sandwich/pizza joints in this town. Staff were very friendly. Only downside is there is a bit of a wait and lag-time with getting the pizza if you go right when they open. I got there around 11:45 and I think the pizza wasn't ready until around 12:30 or so. But it was fresh, hot and very enjoyable once it came out. This deli brings a great new restaurant option to downtown Merced and I hope they stick around! read more

I just had one of their specialty pizzas called "zuko", and i will not exaggerate that it is the best slice i've ever had. On the drive home with my roommate, i tilted my head back, closed my eyes and cried because of what i had just experienced. There are only 6 tables inside and 4 of them were dirty the whole time we were there. Which is cool if you're super slammed. After hearing all the rave about this place from coworkers and clients I finally went in the other day to give it a try. I was surprised by the menu, there only being a handful of different types of sandwiches all pushing $20. With chips and sodas available for purchase separately, no meals. I also noticed there was pizza but I heard all the reviews about sandwiches so that's what I went with. I ordered a specialty sandwhich something with Mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes and I think pesto etc etc (I can't remember the name). I was told the wait would be about 15 minutes. I waited and waited for my take out sandwich (just the sandwich) about 25 minutes later. During those 25 minutes I watched employees joke around hang out and chat with a friend that came in and brought them drinks. The distributing of Dutch bros that was brought in was more important than the lunch time rush. The restaurant was packed and a line to the door and I didn't see anyone in the back focused and in a hurry to get through the rush. After spending almost my entire lunch break waiting I drove back to work and to my surprise when I finally opened up my sandwich I received nothing like what I had ordered. It was a basic turkey and cheddar sandwich with standard vegetables. I was heartbroken. After spending almost $20 on a sandwich I expected it to at least be the correct thing I ordered. I was very kind to the gentleman and even tipped for the kind greeting, order taking and recommendation at the beginning of my experience but now I just have a bad experience to associate with the name. Hopefully they can figure out their timing better and double check the sandwiches they're packing up. Not sure if I'll be back at this point maybe in the future to give it another shot. read more
