We would love to buy dressing to go! We had the chicken and beef kabobs and they were so tender and flavorful! Definitely get the garlic sauce on top! Save room for the walnut baklava! The phyllo dough is perfect and the filling is that wonderful balance of sweet and savory! The service was AWESOME! Maryann was such a rockstar! Super sweet and energetic! It's been a while since over tried it but i left full and content and plenty of leftovers - exactly why i ordered the dinner plate. Absolutely recommend the honey cauliflower appetizer.... Drool worthy!! One guy was super good, definitely an owner or family, but the rest of the staff could use a little more experience. It'll come with time, but just a little feedback for them to think about. For example, i was the first one there and asked for 3waters, after my friends arrived, the were never asked if they wanted anything else to drink. I'm always wary about trying new food spots, but my partner and I decided to take a chance on Kabab City. And we were so pleasantly surprised! The food, service, and ambiance were all 10/10. On the menu, there is a delightful mix of meat & vegetarian options (which is difficult to come by in the Central Valley!). We ordered the samosas, honey garlic cauliflower, and a falafel wrap w/ fries. And let me tell you, the portions are HUGE. The photos speak for themselves- but 2 apps and 1 entree was wayyy more than enough for two people. And the price point is honestly great considering the amount of food you're getting.. We still had a whole meals-worth of leftovers! Our server was also incredibly attentive and sweet, and the overall vibe of this restaurant is just beautiful. The staff is very friendly, it is always welcoming and inviting. The taste of the food is great and live that I have tried different things on there menu. One reason for that is the student special they have every month for $10, so if you are a student you have to take advantage of that. The chicken bowl that I had by first look was very disappointing as there was only 5 pieces of chicken with rice for 20. My mind was changed after the first bite of the rice. It exceeded my expectations and it was complete with the salad. The meal overall was delicious, but had off proportions. Even though we came in at a time so close to closing, they still welcomed us and were enthusiastic to serve us. We took a really long time looking at the menu but they were really chill about it. After we ordered another server we hadn't met yet came back with our food saying "I hope you guys are hungry" and it just set the tone for the nice welcoming vibe of the place. The food was fire those french fries are definitely a must. Even though we were there past closing and they turned their music off, we were asked for any song recommendations and they qued up some Michael Jackson for us per request. We recently moved to Merced from Orange County and were elated to stumble across kabab city! Really really good Mediterranean food! We love their house made pita chips, their hummus and babaganoush are TO DIE FOR! We love their big salads and the eggplant dish they have will blow your mind. Even just the basic chicken kebabs are SO GOOD! They have got to be magicians back there. Truly. And the owner is the nicest guy and his staff is so kind and helpful. I ordered the shawarma wrap. It was quite large. They prepare it right in front of you and let you pick the ingredients you wish to have them put inside, which is nice. While the amount of meat they put inside was quite generous, I was somewhat disappointed that the way they prepare the shawarma meat is to finely chop it. This is not the way I've had shawarma virtually every other place I've ever been to. The meat seemed somewhat dry, so I was left with the feeling that this technique was used to overcome the quality of the meat they use. They serve large plates, soups, salads, wraps and family meals with a variety of meats to choose including chicken, beef, spicy or mild, with or without curry, kafta kabob, veggie plate and gyros. [Prices are from memory] I ordered the Beef Shawarma Hummus (appetizer) [$13], Kebab Bowl [$16], and (lamb) Gyro [$15]. The hummus was really good-- I could really taste the chickpeas in them! The pita bread that came with the appetizers were thin and a bit hard to tear apart with teeth. For the Gyro, I did not expect the size to be *that* small, which was the disappointing part, but the contents were good and the fries were crispy to my liking. The Kebab Bowl was amazing and the best entree out of the two! The rice was nicely seasoned and the meat was, too. Tried this place for something different since the options in this town are limited. With so many options in the Bay Area, standards are quite high for Mediterranean food. The food was fresh, and the staff were super knowledgeable and informative when I wanted to confirm which items were dairy free. Took the food to go with plenty of hot sauce. She really made our experience extra special. The restaurant had such good vibes and the portions were amazing! There was enough food to last for 2-3 meals. On top of that, everything was so fresh and all of the vegetables were nice and crunchy. I'm usually picky about Mediterranean food, but this place felt like the real deal. The falafel entree that I had felt very authentic, and I liked the extra touches of sumac on top. Other awesome things about the place were the music and the outdoor seating.
