Truth be told, if you live nearby or just happened to be in the area like I was, Bread & C. should be at the top of your list to visit. Not because the owner will gladly give you something on the house because you only carry your card and don't have enough cash on you to pay for your entire order. But because that's how she is. And, it happened to me. You can tell right of the bat, Laurie has a passion for offering pastries and pleasing their customers. Regardless, Bread & C. has probably gained a lot of attention for the Croissants, Macarons, Cookies, etc. I seriously think though it's because of her Parisian-inspired Hot Chocolate. You're in for a treat. If you know me on Yelp, then you know I haven't had coffee in like umpteen years and when I go for Hot Chocolate or Hot Cocoa, it better be orgasmic. This was it. Top-quality chocolate is used because after all, this is Larchmont. The end result was the perfect balance of rich flavors and silky texture. It's a treat that was both comforting and luxurious. It almost transported me right to a cozy Parisian café on a crisp winter's day. It's a small place but it's mighty and so worth the trip!

With a friendly atmosphere, the owner will probably recognize your face over time and and greet you name. The excellence of Bread & Cocoa's pastries makes it easy to understand why the locals keep coming back. I stopped in because I was working in the neighborhood and I needed a pick-me-up for my ride back to Manhattan. The pumpkin chocolate chip cake with a small coffee hit the spot. It was an amazing start to the day and made me appreciate why this bakery is such a neighborhood treasure. Bread & Cocoa is truly a special bakery that's worth checking out!

Oh...what a gem of a place! I happened to be in the neighborhood and...being a lover of desserts,…read moredecided to pop-in. This is a very small place with no seating; it appears it is solely intended for folks to pop-in and purchase desserts to enjoy at home, or bring to a party/for a host/hostess gift. Also, the offerings here (from my quick perusal) appeared to be more along the lines of 'cakes' or multi-serving items, vs individual treats. That said, they did have individual ramekins of Pot de Creme. Their ramekins are ceramic, and so a small 'deposit' of ...I think it was $2?...is added onto the cost, the idea being that you can return the ramekin to them and get the deposit back. I really appreciated this touch, as it not only makes the Pot de Creme more elegant, but it means they are not using wasteful plastic in which to offer their Pot de Creme. Needless to say, their Pot de Creme was sublime! It was very interesting, and heart-warming, to read the history of this place (and that of Seth's father) from newspaper clippings on the wall. From my very brief time in the shop, I immediately 'loved' Seth, who was there at the time. You can tell he is a genuinely warm person...the real deal. There was a woman also working there at the time, and she too had a wonderful way about herself. Folks who live in this area are truly blessed, to have such a wonderful bakery there!

I came here to celebrate a birthday. It was quiet when we arrived at 6pm, but got livelier later in…read morethe evening. The decor is clean and elegant. Some sections of the restaurant require walking up small sets of stairs, so they may not be accessible for all. Our table had couch seating on one side and was comfortable, but the table itself was a tiny bit small when accommodating a bunch of plates and glasses. To drink, I had the pomegranate martini. It was quite strong, fruity, and not overly sweet. My husband had the bees knees. It was juicy and flavorful. To start, we had a salad from the specials menu. It included mandarins, kiwi, goat cheese, almonds, and arugula. It was a large portion size and crisp and refreshing. We also had the spinach artichoke dip, which was rich and tasted very fresh. For my main, I had the penne. I loved the tomato cream sauce. I also got a side of onion rings. They were shoestring style, which I wasn't expecting, but they were piping hot and very tasty. My husband enjoyed his steak, but one should note that the dish is literally just steak, so you need to order sides separately if you want any accompaniments. For dessert, we had the lemon tart. It was lovely, especially with the accompanying berries. Our waiter was excellent. The only negative was that I asked for a special dessert and candle for my husband's birthday and they completely forgot. I even called earlier in the day to confirm they would be able to do it. So that was a slight disappointment, but otherwise it was a great meal.

The oysters were a little variable in size, but they were good. My almond-crust sole was good but could have been a little lighter on the almond. The filet mignon was good, though we cooked it a little longer at home. (It was cooked well, but the personal preference was a little more cooked.) I enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake ($12) too! I look forward to visiting in person someday soon.
