Don't even bother going anywhere else. I am not kidding. I recently purchased a used Mazda 3 that only had one set of keys/remotes. I called a reputable place in my area but they told me they couldn't do it and I would need to go to a dealer. I went to Marin Mazda and they had the nerve to tell me it was going to be $275!!!!!!!!! This is the second time I have both utilitzed Low Price Lock and Key as well as been emphatically impressed by the level of customer service and support shown throughout. I contacted Low Price Lock and Keys' owner/ serviceman Santiago and made an appointment for the very next day for two vehicles after a private mechanic that I utilized lost the two sets (It was a mess and I did not know to what extent the mechanic had damaged one of the vehicles until Santiago assessed and in detail explained to me what had happened). Anyway, when he showed up, I was surprised and relieved to see the Low Price Lock and Key van in my driveway long after close of businessand this was on account of the fact I had overlooked a text that would have confirmed our appointment and had asked Santiago if he could still make it. Despite being rousted from home, He arrived sharply groomed, professionally dressed, and was exhorbinantly kind and courteous to my very inquisitive 4-year-old daughter despite us collectively for sure winning the "Most Annoying Customers of the Day" title. Santiago went into like, 007 Mode, when the car wouldn't start despite it being outside his lane of requisitioned services. He quickly replaced the tumbler the mechanic had damaged while trying to cover up his losing of the key, showed me exactly the physical signs apparent on the steering column that attributing to his being able to tell that the mechanic had damaged it, and then worked to ensure minimally I had a programmed key so that once I had the transmission repaired, I wouldn't have wait or to pay him to come again just for another key. The mechamin that fixed the transmission told me he was spot on in his assessment and that without the key it would have been far more difficult to repair the transmission, as well! The most surprising part? Santiago DID NOT EVEN RAISE THE PRICE HE QUOTED ME, despite all the extra work and time my situation required of him. What a great person and professional! I have had the opportunity to refer a few of my friends to Low Price Lock and Key and they have had equally great experiences. It's awesome because, now, when I refer people, I actually say, "I have 'a guy' that does that," like I have an "in" in the locksmith industry! AND I DO! I was skeptical at first. Just bought a used Prius with only one "smart key". Sent an e-mail to dealerships in Palo Alto and Fremont requesting a quote for a duplicate key. And I texted this "Low Price Keys" guy. So far I haven't even heard back from Fremont Toyota (they hung up on me three times in a row trying to call them previously FYI). Palo Alto's Magnussen Toyota came back with a quote many hours later of $280, after I already had the keys made. This guy made me a fully functional duplicate for well under half of the only dealer I could get a response from. He also made an emergency key (normal looking key with a chip in it that can open the door manually and start the car) for $40! It's amazing to me that I'm so happy spending about $170 for two keys! We lost our 2000 Lexus RX300 master key in Tahoe and had AAA towed the SUV to our hotel in Reno. Both the locksmith recommended by AAA and the closet Lexus dealer wanted $800 and more for a new master key. I usually do not write reviews because I expect excellent service when I am paying for it. I chose to write this review because the service and experience was beyond my expectations and I wanted to pass that experience on to others that need a spare key for their car or truck. My wife and I were in Nevada at the end of 2014 and we lost the key to our Toyota truck. I say lost to be kind; actually the keys were stolen and we were stranded. unable to start the truck. We were in luck when my son decided to visit us and brought the spare keys from our home in Ca. We knew that we needed to replace the spare keys so we would have a spare set; should this happen again. We called the Toyota dealer and were unable to get a price for a new set of keys and FOB. The answer we got was "it depends". When we got back to Ca we visited a hardware store that advertised making "smart keys" but were told that they could not make keys for our Toyota Tundra 2013. Their price for a replacement key and FOB was $100 but it could have been any price because they were unable to do it. We watched some U-tube videos that showed how we could program the smart key ourselves and we decided to purchase the equipment to connect and communicate with the car computer when we found "Low Price Keys" on Craigslist. We contacted Low Price Keys and made an appointment. We arrived a few minutes early and found that he was waiting for us. In less than 10 minutes the new key was programmed and the new FOB functional. We were in and out with a backup and really surprised how smooth and easy our need was satisfied. The experience was fantastic; no pressure, no problems. Compared to the Toyota dealer this experience was exceptional. At Toyota, they could not quote me a price and I had to schedule a Service appointment. Here I had a reasonable price up front and his appointments were at my convenience.
