Let me tell you................I rode past this place several times and finally got a chance to go sit down and try it. I was not disappointed!!!!! The Crab legs were fresh! The Shrimp was fresh! I took my 5 year old. She absolutely loved it. She kept saying how good the crab legs were. She loved the fried Oreos. I ordered her a kids portion. She loved them so much she didn't want to share with me. The Owner was absolutely amazing. He was so down to earth. I didn't know he was the owner until we were ready to leave! Terrible Terrible TERRIBLE! I don't know if this place has paid for these reviews but we went here on a Sunday night and the food was close to inedible. The "hot" flavoring was bland and EVERYTHING tasted strongly like plastic. It was freezing in the restaurant which only made our lukewarm food even colder. Many tables were still eating while the 1.3 million bus boys running around started mopping the floors. The smell of Pinesol made our already unappetizing meal even less desirable. They serve brunch!! i am not a huge fan of their sauce on the boils but its still good. We also had fried green tomatoes, beignets, cornbread and shrimp and grits. The staff there were awesome and super down to earth! I mean it's self seating and the idea is to fill out a menu of items you want and walk up to the registers, and they will take your order and give you a number! It's awesome because their system is fast and you pay for what you order at the moment, therefore you are not waiting for you waitress to flag her down and grab your check at the end of a heavy meal! FOOD: THE Food is so so so so so good! The beverages are phenomenal and the desserts are awesome! I would definitely get their garlic noodles in addition to whatever you order! It's so yummy! Crawfish is a seasonal thing so you have to ask before you select whether they have any or not, other than that, the portions are really good and the flavors are so good, your taste buds will dance! Literally the WORST service and set up in town! We saw ads for this for over a year and finally decided to try it. We waited 2 hours to be seated which is the norm for a spot like this but then waited in line to order our food for another 30 minutes only to be told that it would take an additional hour in a half for our food to come out. While all of this was going on, my boyfriend spent 20 minutes arguing with a couple to move from our assigned table and every time he asked a server to help, they just told him to find the host that never came back to the hostess podium. If you had a hard week at work and want to kick up your heels with some crab and great drinks, this is the right place. We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar table/seats. Marcus is a mixologist extraordinaire. We loved his service so much that we stalked him on Sunday at the north side location after the pride parade. All of the employees at both locations treat you like family and the crab ain't bad either. I'm a Marylander so I know great crab and I was NOT disappointed. These people closed half the tables with a full restaurant and tried to kick people out into non existent tables. We had to clean our own table. Yes it was a Saturday evening, the busiest time of the week, we were given wait time of 50-55 minutes. After asking about sitting at the bar, the hostess said we could only drink there. Another employee had to direct us to the actual waiting area. After 1 hour wait where tables sat empty, i texted to confirm being on the waitlist. The text back was they hold table for 5 minutes. That was not an answer to my question and it did nothing make me think i would be seated anytime soon. We waited another 20 minutes, tables sat empty and we left. Thank you to the host who said have a good night. The only thing good was leaving the restaurant. Cannot judge the food, but service gets a zero. Communicate with your customer, thats how you keep them, even if there is a long wait. I have lived in the South Loop for years and am very disappointed that this is a neighborhood restaurant that I will never give another chance to. read more

Pros: -The food is pretty darn good, and the concept is very well executed -The restaurant itself is well laid out, pleasant, and in a great location right near the Roosevelt L stop, Grant Park, and Michigan Ave -Quick service, and friendly for both kids and adults. Cons: -Man, it is expensive. As I said above, the food is darn good, and they execute a simple concept quite well. This place was great! The food was delicious, with the seafood spiced and seasoned very well. The cornbread and the Cajun fries were also very good. The garlic beignets were only okay, being a bit heavy for a beignet in my opinion, but still tasted good. The restaurant itself was very clean and the scene was very vibrant. I absolutely love the Low Country up north. While the wait can be long, the waitlist and ordering process is clear and organized. The same can't be said for the South Loop restaurant. When we entered the restaurant on a Saturday night there were guests crowding the entrance with no hostess in sight. After a few minutes, we were able to track down a woman with a list who advised us it would be a 30-45 mins. We tried to make our way to the bar, but there are tables actually blocking access and guests hovering on either end waiting for takeout orders. It really was a mess. After waiting for 45 minutes for a table we were seated and advised we had to fill out a form, get up, stand in another line to place and pay for our order in the rear of the restaurant. Why they don't have waitstaff like every other restaurant is really lost on me. My husband goes and places the order and comes back to the table and we wait...and wait...and wait...and wait. Close to an hour later someone brings us a bag of crab legs with no sign of the app we order. Seems the cashier didn't see the box checked on the form. Imagine that. Seeing as we didn't have another hour to wait on fried green tomatoes andnwe were starving, we decided not to get up and get back in line to reorder them. Finally the food. The crab legs would be worth the two hours we had been waiting. Yep, you guessed it, the crab legs were almost unedible. They were so overcooked it was almost impossible to get the meat out of the shell. I definitely will not be back. I thought this would be a viable alternative for the Lakeview location. From now on I will go to the Asian Cajun Plus on 21st and State. The crab legs are delicious, less expensive and you can order your meal from your actual table. read more

Me and my family dined in on Saturday night at approximately 10:30pm because they were dying for seafood boil after a long week of Super Camp and this location was the closest. When we arrived the hostess stated there's a 20 minute wait with three parties in front of you. My concern was if they close at 11pm and it's 1030 how will they prepare food in a crunch. The hostess assured me that everything is cooked to order so don't worry you are good. Ok I'll wait and we were seated in 25 mins instead of 20 minutes; I'm thinking ok good. Sat at the table and gathered my order, proceeded to the front ordered our meals. Ordered Danny wings, Cajun fries and a bag for 2. Food came out; wings were room temperature, fries were soggy(gross), seafood bag was steamy with water instead of crab meat popping out the crab legs. Potatoes were the size of baked potatoes, corn was nibbles and shrimp were tough and did not taste any seasoning. I was so disgusted and ask one of the host was any managers available the young guy responded no but you can leave your information and a note about your concerns. There was no management available to witness this plate of horrific food and service in addition to staff being so nonchalant and unconcerned. I'm still waiting on a return call and I've called the restaurant several times no one ever answers. read more

I'm here now. We had a party of 15. Every order had a name on it. Two of us didnt get our meals. We advised the waiter and he said everybody received their meals. We are sitting here with no tray or food in front of us. He basically accused us of lying. I said sir do you think we ran the food to the car? He goes I brought it out. Apparently he gave it to the table behind us. He comes back again and checks every person's food again. We have a tray for every person except two people. They find the food at the other table. Well although there are names on them that are not any of theirs most likely they started eating. Hell they probably didnt see the names. They were probably hungry like me. I'm now eating a beignets off my sisters plate. No apology for assuming we were lying. People make mistakes but this guy made me feel like crap. read more

The food was good but the service left a bit to be desired. First, the wait staff doesn't seem happy. Since I'd never been here before, my questions seemed to bother everyone from the hostess to the cashier--so, they weren't really answered. The first question should be "have you dined with us before?" If the answer is "no" then there should be a full-blown description and walk-through of the steps involved in placing an order, retrieving buckets and utensils and gloves and....pay attention. (Warning: Cajun spice makes things a bit too spicy.) I did tell the manager and he provided us complimentary dessert and the beignets were delicious. The music was TOO LOUD and to me, the benches are positioned too far from the tables. If you're up for messy eating and putting in work to crack the crabs, go for it. Walked in about 8:00 on Saturday and the wait was 1hr 45 minutes. We decided to order to go. Placed my order and the cashier was so nice. We waited for about 40 minutes when I was told they had a table for us. We sat and 10 minutes later our food was out. We had shrimp, snow crab, corn, potatoes, wings and fried shrimp. It was more than enough for 4 people. The flavor was awesome. We added a little heat and it was perfect. Ambiance was good. Music wasn't too loud. We waited 30 minutes before going to the restaurant on yelp waiting list only to find out that they weren't going to accept that and that we would have to wait an additional hour and a half. Never been to LowCountry but have frequent many others like it so I figured I'd try it. We went on a Thursday evening around 6ish and it wasn't busy, great. I should have researched it more before going because I had no idea it's self service, yuck! For me, if I go to a sit down restaurant I expect a waitress. Ok, we go get in line to order our food, told to pick a soda out of a barrel filled with sodas and ice, given a bucket with bibs and crab crackers. After digging and not finding, my friend asked for Diet Coke and was told "there's some in there"; I guess his facial expression said it all because someone went in the back and brought out some WARM Diet Cokes and pointed him to the ice. I have to honest by saying I was ready to go at this point but we had ordered food. The food is literally the same as all the other seafood boil places, prices, quality and taste. I was a bit disappointed because I'm still paying the same market price for seafood but don't get the luxury of having a waitress. I plan to never return or refer anyone. read more

If you want the worst crab legs of your life this is the place to be! If not stay away! So Sunday we knew there would be a bunch of people out celebrating their mothers for Mother's Day, so my family chose to go later around 7:30-7:45pm to avoid the crowds. They close at 9 so this was plenty of time to get FRESH FOOD! Apparently we were wrong.. this was my first time here and it's definitely my last! Our crab legs were overcooked so much it wouldn't even come out of the shell. We ordered the "everythan" seasoning to make sure we didn't get bland spices.... that was a major FAIL! My sister and I were the only to order this flavor everybody at the table had the garlic and herb and were happy.. when everybody was leaving one of the staff members asked why our bag was still full.. we let him know of the lack of flavor and being over cooked.. they took our bag back after everyone at the table took a piece of the horrible #2 we ordered and promised to remake it with more seasonings to go, as our entire party had finished their meals and it was reaching 8:56pm. So we didn't ask for money back just accepted the food to go. Today my sister and I both decided let's devour this Lowcountry from Sunday... we open the bag and it's the same over cooked and rumbled over food with more pepper juice in it! I'm completely disgusted by this especially since the waiter who took our food back actually touched it and agreed that it was over cooked. When the manager came out Sunday, she assured us it was remade. We went with 4 people and tried 4 different bags from the vegetarian option to the combo with everything. Some of the sauces were overdone and too spicy, taking away from the natural flavor of things like the corn and potatoes. The shrimp and seafood was cooked perfectly and the milder sauces were fantastic. The sides were very good as well. The Cole slaw needs more flavor as it was a little bland. read more
