The owners are fantastic, the beverages are good, the vibe of the venue is fabulous. It's really a great addition to Hamilton!

First visit this summer, was very impressed. Large outdoor "beer garden" seating area. Kid…read morefriendly. I wanted to stay inside (mosquitos are always an issue in the evening), so they have a really nice tap room area as well as their dining area. You might start with their award-winning American Brown Ale. I was very pleased with how well made this ale was, with real depth and richness without any cloying sweetness. I followed it up with a Pomegranate Odyssey, a wild fermented sour ale. If you like sour ales, as I do, you should like this, although I've had more strikingly sour ones. This, however, nicely balances just a slight sweetness of pomegranate with the sour ferment. Their veggie burger is very good, although it's not made in-house. Still, it's a quality burger. Perhaps it's changed since my visit, but the veggie burger was served only on a gluten-free roll. Like somehow they'd cover the vegetarians and the gluten-free crowd in one dish, like feeding two birds with one crumb. But I'd prefer a regular, wheat-based roll. Fries were excellent, too. But what really made them stand out was the excellent service and friendly staff. I was alone, and the manager and bar tend both chatted with me, but without being intrusive. Really great people I was happy to get to know a little bit, and they were quite willing share info with me about the menu and brews, as this was my first visit. Very walkable from downtown Hamilton or even from the main Colgate U. campus. Sidewalks or pathways are available to keep off the main road, Rte. 128. No need for the designated driver! Will be back!

Sat at the bar as I was alone but there were tables inside and picnic tables outside for a variety of seating options. I was offered water immediately with my menu. I sampled the Berry Sour Seltzer which tasted great. Not too fruity and too bitter. I ordered a glass. The food offerings were limited to one side of the menu, half being appetizers and half being meals. I was a bit surprised by the cost of the Elk Burger ($29) but made that my choice as I wanted more than an appetizer but good comfort food. It came with smoked gouda, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo on a thick yet soft bun. Salad greens coated with balsamic dressing accompanied the burger (fries were available for an up charge). One bite told me I'd made the correct choice and the price was worth it. The burger (ordered medium well) was hot and juicy and the bun did a great job of balancing that without falling apart or getting soggy. The Gouda cheese had such great flavor and it was in the perfect state of warm but not melt-coated into the burger. My water was consistently refilled and I sat there and enjoyed every bite of that burger and salad while I drank my Seltzer.

I went inside to order a drink and some food and was passed by twice before the woman said she'd be with me. Another younger girl came over and asked if I wanted to order something. Odd questions since I'd been standing there looking at the menu that was on the bar as well as looking at the beers they had listed on the board. I ordered a wheat blonde beer and told her I also wanted to place a food order. She told me I couldn't do that there, and said I needed to order from the food truck table. That table had a chalkboard with their three specials, different items than the bar menu so I ordered off of that, was given a pager and headed outside (The food truck girl was very kind and asked where I was sitting but I hadn't picked a table yet) I ordered a cauliflower margarita pizza which was just the right size to pair with my beer. It came out quick and hot and tasted good. I sat at my table eating alone and enjoying the music but found that that's what everyone was doing. Sitting at their own tables. Enjoying the music or conversing amongst themselves but keeping to themselves. For a brewery with live music on a sunny Saturday afternoon it was just ok.

My stepdad is a veteran, and sports fanatic and we thought he'd especially appreciate the atmosphere. Before making the 30-minute drive, I checked the brewery's website and Facebook page. There was no mention of an 18+ policy. When we arrived at 1:00 p.m. with our children, a man met us at the door and told us no one under 18 was allowed. He then claimed it had been that way for two years, since obtaining their CBD license, which didn't match our previous visit in April 2025 when our children were welcomed. After turning us away, he joked to my stepdad, "You were this close to getting a beer." Instead of making the situation less awkward, it came across as insensitive after we had driven out of our way with visiting family only to be refused entry. I understand that businesses can set their own policies, and if they choose to be 18+, that's their right. What was disappointing was that the policy wasn't communicated on their website or Facebook, and the interaction lacked courtesy. A simple apology and clear notice online would have prevented a wasted trip and an uncomfortable experience. After just now reading the reviews it seems that this is the way they treat anyone with children. Unfortunately, because of how this was handled, we won't be back.

I found out that they often have events like live music and bingo. The large room allowed the class to go on away from the main bar and high top table area. Orders are placed at the bar and the one bartender working had things running smoothly. I ordered a Watermelon Wheaton beer and loaded nachos. I immediately got my beer and got a pager for my food. There were a few regular tables along the perimeter among the high top tables but I chose to sit at the bar. The other patrons were very friendly and included me in their conversation. The beer was crisp and cold. The food came out rather quickly. The nachos were topped with beer cheese, fresh pico de gallo, sour cream, and scallions. There was a very generous amount of sour cream so I didn't have to worry about just eating chips. The bartender kept everyone served and knew what the regulars drank. She checked on me regularly. My only disappointment is that as summer comes to an end I will have to wait until next year to attend the events they have at the brewery.
