This store has changed a lot since we first started coming. Still very clean and good inventory but the customer service is non existent. The workers seem miserable. 3 cashiers stood at one register and continued to gab and eat chips while my husband bagged our groceries. All while some manager sat in the office on the phone watching the whole thing. The young lady who was our cashier couldn't say hello or thank you. She looked befuddled the whole time. What a shame. I'll admit: My first impression was not good. From the parking lot, I immediately zeroed in on the barrels being used as trash cans. Ohhhh...ohhh, okay. I get it. This is one of those full size stores cosplaying as a "little grocery in the middle of Appalachia". I was cross when my husband and I walked in. I don't like gimmicks. Give me a store with crisp, straight aisles and mind numbing florescent lighting. No frills! We just needed some decent coffee. I love my mother and father in law, but their coffee is clear enough to see through. I glanced around. Hmm. Lots of interesting little bottles of juice. That's kinda neat. Another glance. A beautiful display of flowers and square mylar balloons. I love square mylar balloons. Alright, okay. We ventured further. Huh. Coffee beans with the type and flavor handwritten on the bags. That's kind of endearing. A local shopper told us the "Bourbon Pecan Torte" flavor was her favorite. (She pronounced it PEE-can, which was a treat. If I had a penny for each time someone corrected me with pah-CAHN, I could summer in Newport.) We decided on the pecan and a second bag of eggnog flavor. We ground the beans in the store. How quaint! As we headed toward the dairy section, I noticed their meat and seafood looked rather nice. There were people making sausage. Actual, real, hand ground sausage in its own area. I refused to say it outloud, but in my head, I thought, "That's the way to do it." We moved on and retrieved a bottle of Stōk refrigerated coffee and a container of half & half. You can never have too much coffee. This place ain't so bad. It was when we were headed to the register that I accidentally let out a squeal. Displayed in all its glory was a tin of the Royal Dansk, limited edition, winter cookie collection...as rare as a Fabergé brooch. I walked into Lowe's Foods with a chip on my shoulder. Lowes Foods is a good and cool store! I probably wouldn't come here to get everything on my grocery list, but it definitely has a lot of great and unique qualities, my favorite of which was the indoor bar! While you are limited to two (2) drinks, they have a better selection of beer than a lot of bars/restaurants I've been to! I'd definitely recommend at least stopping in and checking out their unique components! read more

Since they opened this Lowes Foods store on Forest drive this has been my go to grocery store. Food Lion on Decker is closer and cheaper BUT this is worth it. Friendlier staff and check out seems much faster than ANY Food Lion. Good selection overall. Nice they have a fresh salad bar set up and what they call a Beer Den with beer, and wine drink specials and places to sit and enjoy your beverage or shop whilst drinking it. I am usually here 3-4 times a week. If I can't find it here Publix down the street will usually have it. read more

I love this store! I always like to store hop to find the best deals or a store that has so many options of items I never tried or overlooked. This store always has me grabbing things I don't need, but never regret once I get home and stuff my face! It's a spacious store where you're not elbow to elbow when you're shopping. Stores like that always have me missing an item off my list because I am rushing to get at checkout so I am not standing in line all day. The prices are reasonable, the quantity of food is stocked neatly and the customer service has always been good when I am there. Overall, this is a great location to get what you need and luck up on some new finds to try out. If you never shopped here, I highly recommend that you try this place out, who know you might see me when your there I might be around the corner on the next aisle filling my basket up with something I don't need and if so, happy shopping:) read more

One of the coolest and cleanest grocery store. Everything is well organized and marked in section. I love that there's and area you can get a beer and enjoy. There's seating outside for a nice day. I can't shop but my husband goes some wednesdays and gets the wings smoked. They are great. I do wish I could shop but cannot walk that far in a big store. read more

Had a great visit u til I reached the deli, there is an older lady there who had such a disgusting attitude. She was talking "mess" about my deli options to her coworkers like I couldn't hear....then they all laughed when I wanted more pepperoni... when I reached out for my deli me to grab it she threw it on the counter dropped it moved her hand to the side so she could. Considering how much I like the rest of the store this woman spoiled the entire visit. She had absolutely no reason to give me attitude considering I was very polite probably more than polite because not only did I tell her exactly which meat I wanted so it wasn't confusing but I told her what size I would like it cut in... After I picked up my meat off the counter I told her " I hope you have a great rest of your day and a happy new year" she said "whatever" rolled her eyes and turned around... Now I'm scared my meat has been tampered with....great... Update: I did some reflecting over my review and changed it because an entire store shouldn't suffer at the hands of an old crabby woman who clearly needs some therapy. The entirety of the store had the up-most positive and uplifting attitudes, great customer service...it's the reason I come here versus going anywhere else in Columbia. This review has been a long time coming! I mean literally! I've been coming here since it opened, and honestly it just dawned on me how pleasantly connected I am to this place. I love that it is always so clean. I also like how it is spacious so you don't have to feel like you are on top of other customers. Also, all of the different sections within the store. I can easily spend two hours in the store going from one side to another no matter how many times I've come here. The prices are decent and the quality is great. Their pick & prep fruit and vegetables are literally the best! So fresh, great quality, and convenient. There chocolate covered peanuts and chocolate covered raisins are a household favorite. I love their large variety of wines. I am always intrigued by their Beer Den section but I've never indulged. There bag shrimp are amazing as well! Plus they have items that other stores don't have like Alexia Crisp Rosemary Fries and the different varieties of sausage. I've tried so many things from their sliced meats, prepared hot food, house made tortillas, the cheesecake, and I mean I can go on and on but out of everything in that store my favorite is the 2-Pack muffins! I'm telling you! You should definitely try them! I've tried Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, Banana Nut, Red Velvet, Peach (which is my favorite of them all) and now red velvet. I love them as breakfast or as a quick hold me over snack. The only thing that's would make Lowe's more amazing than it already is would be to increase their baby food product selection. I'm always so shocked it's not more expansive like everything else in the store. Customer service is always A+! Literally everyone is so nice and exemplifies great customer service. The app is a great supplement to the store. I'm an avid user of the digital coupons. I also love that they mail out coupons as well! Always a treat!! Since the start of the pandemic, I've completed several grocery pick up orders as well. During the shutdown, the fee was waived for a while. Currently, it's $4.95 which is not bad and totally worth it! Simple as pie and convenient as all get out. You just pull up where you see the signs, call, and someone will come straight out. My experience whether I'm self-shopping or picking up an order placed in the app, I always have good experience with Lowe's Food! read more

I'm back & forth on this place. The positives are easy: the tomato section is cool, especially i and after tomato season (so NOT in the winter) as is the nearby picking you can do of select herbs. The wine section is also pretty top notch, as are the cheeses. Lowes also have a lot of meats, and even plant-base meats, available. The dairy section is also better stocked than other places. But then, while so many of the vegetables are fresh, and they also have more than many other markets, they're also high priced and sometimes over-priced, so not cool. Other everyday market items are also overpriced -- but at least they have them in stock. Sometimes the bakery items arent always as fresh as they first appear too. I almost bought some near 'turning' items, but thankfully I have an eagle eye for such things. The beer section is top-notch though, with many local and craft beers also available, even if you just want one can/bottle. read more

This was our first time visiting this store, and our experience was so wonderful and memorable that I had to come leave a review. For starters, this place is SPOTLESS. The smells from the smokehouse are amazing and every single staff person was so kind helpful. They have an amazing selection of basically anything you can think of. Cheese, wine, craft beer, meat... all the things! We got a meal from their hot bar, and the manager, DJ, was so sweet. He gave our daughter a little egg with a sticker and played this song for her and it made her day. Another sweet person gave her a balloon on the way out! We will be back despite this being across town for the customer service alone, but it's also a really nice place to shop in general! read more

Lowes Foods is heaven on earth. I honestly am not happier anywhere else (except maybe a brewery). Lowes Foods is by definition a grocery store, however, upon digging a little deeper you soon find out that Lowes actually has so much more to offer including a craft beer bar, artisan coffee bar, fast food casual restaurant style food, fresh in house bakery, almost a full-scale butcher shop, vegetable garden, and even a large event calendar for events. Lowes customer service is amazing. The events they do and live music on Thursday nights with half off beer is honestly my wife and I's guilty pleasure. We have our weekly grocery shopping night centered around it and its just bliss. I would've never expected such a cool place to exist in Columbia, to be honest, but if Lowes is in your area and you can trek out to it I highly recommend going even if its just for some beers and lunch. read more

1 star. As soon as I walk in this place I go from a good mood to a bad mood. Let's start when I walk in the door... I'm not sure what that smell is... but the sign says bbq. It makes me want to vomit as soon as I smell it, and if yall think your meat tastes good, please enter it in a bbq contest and let the judges have an opinion. Now... all of their produce is over priced, most of the other groceries are over priced and it's not to blame entirely on inflation. They are always out of everything, 75% of the employees seem like they were never trained by anybody (there are some good ones...) and look at you like you have two heads if you ask where something is. The meat section is filled with luscious selections of meat that should be off the shelves (yum). They usually have about 2 lanes open, and a self-checkout that makes me sit there for 16 minutes until someone shows up to type in the magic number so I can proceed. Why have a "self-checkout". And I don't expect a response from anyone in management here bc I probably care less about this place than y'all do, and that's saying a lot. Plus, I'll be right back in there bc it's convenient... that's the only reason I will ever come to this place. Do better. 2/1 still mean everything I said, and I'm back in Lowes... can someone please tell someone here that when there are 3 people in the store shopping we still might need a basket. I have spent hours of my life since this place opened trying to find a basket. It's always empty when you walk in, so instead of asking employees to check and make sure there are baskets, they're just scattered about the store like Easter eggs... read more

Wedding Catering I used Lowes Foods to cater my wedding! They did charchuterie boards for me and were by far the most affordable option in town. I had several meetings with the store manager and the catering manager where they made me feel comfortable with my order and well taken care of. They delivered and set up the food on my own boards I'd purchased at Vintage Market Days (held twice a year at the SC State Fair Grounds). I guess the storm must've caused a power outage as I went today and bought 20 dollars worth of chicken breast that smelled rank. Then when I went in to return it, I only brought one as I threw the other in the trash and they only refunded me for the one pack even though both were spoiled. This wouldn't have been as much of a problem if the customer service were better, I didn't even receive an apology or any other way of trying to correct there mistake only the 10 dollars back. You have to give them your cell phone number and email address to set up an account in order to get sale prices. That doesn't make sense that a grocer wants that info unless they sell your data and information to third parties. No thanks. I get enough spam email and scam cell phone calls. I don't need an extended car warranty or extra Medicare coverage. Publix and Trader Joe's don't require my personal information in order to get sale prices. read more

Second time, I opted to use the deli for catering, and I sure am glad that I did! It was equally as good as the first time. The Boar sandwich tray, vegetable combination tray, and cookie mix tray were certainly a BIG hit with our guests. Everything was fresh, and the arrangements looked so nice. If you're looking for bargain prices, this is not the place to go. It's like going to Starbucks and paying three times as much for a drink you can get somewhere else or even at home. The layout of the store is nice. But there are many things that I find to be annoying as a customer. When I'm peacefully shopping, I don't want to be alarmed by a cattle bell ringing and someone yelling at the top of their lungs as if I were on a cattle ranch that the meat is done over at the smokehouse department. I am a customer, I'm not a guest. It seems everyone there calls us a guest. When my guests come over to my house, I am much friendlier to them. It seems only a few people working here genuinely have a smile on their face. At least three people in management have a scowl or a look of annoyance on their faces every time I've come in. A lady that works in the front part of the store, a guy walking around and I can't really tell where he's from and a lady that works in the meat and seafood department. I went over to the part of the store where you can clip your own herbs and there was a team of people working over there... We made eye contact a couple of times but not a single one of them asked me if I wanted any assistance.... Which I did but I ended up leaving and shopping elsewhere. read more

Example: shish kabobs for grilling were not available for sale because no one prepared them, according to the meat dept! I was going to buy $30.00 worth! Attempted to get some smoked meat from the (SMOKEHOUSE), EMPLOYEE saw me and promptly went out of sight to the back! Was going to buy $30.00 worth! Then, a few days later, my son brought a sub sandwich that had the plastic still on the sliced pepperoni! My son consumed his half, I was the one who found the plastic in my half when I ate later! They were apologetic and gave me double my money back, but that's not enough! I have seen an employee direct her friend to a (special needs) cashier who failed to scan the whole bottom of the cart! Imagine using a person's (impairment) to steal from your employer! Reported it to the manager, who told me to come back tomorrow to speak to the (real) manager! Actually, called the manager, to tell me to come back tomorrow! A bunch of children running a store! Never a manager late evening or weekends! We enjoy the selection of Lowe's but the service at the deli counter and the attitude of many of the cashiers has finally turned me off. My husband went tonight around dinner time to pick up sushi and then a kids toasted sandwich. There was no one manning the sandwich station. And he had to wait a considerable time for someone to acknowledge he was there. A young guy came to the counter and asked what he wanted, husband told him and the guy replied with "oh I don't know how to use the paninis press" and walked off without any explanation! He waited more and the coffee station person even noticed how long he had been waiting and came over and asked him if he had been helped! FINALLY a woman came up (in no rush) and asked what he wanted as if it was a huge inconvenience to her. My husband tells her the order and she slaps a slice of cheese and a wad of meat on two pieces of bread and asks him "is that ok?" When I saw the sandwich after he brought it home it was ridiculous. My four year old could have made a better one. There were no apologies for his wait, no pleasant customer service etc. Almost every visit I've made the cashiers act as if they don't want to be there and don't even ask you how your day is going. While I like how much there is to choose from I can get much better customer service at Publix and Trade Joes, both of which are nearby and I would highly recommend. NOTE: I understand that people working with the public are under extreme strain and are short staffed. It would be one thing if these experiences were a one-off and usually things were better. But after multiple poor experiences at this specific location it's not worth the trip if you want a pleasant experience. read more

I love it! It's a whole experience. I love that it has late hours & their desserts are amazing. It's a bit pricey, but I tend to do my regular shopping at Kroger and then come to Lowe's for meats, cheeses, produce & other specialty items. I think it's awesome that you can get a glass of beer or wine while you shop & their coffee bar is really good. There are several places to eat inside, almost like a little food court. The employees are friendly but not overbearing, which is wonderful as well, as I like to be left alone when I shop. read more

I was excited to come here, due to all the hype I've heard about it. It definitely did NOT knock my socks off. I'm a BIG lover of produce and I didn't see a difference between their produce section and Publix. Similar layout to the Kroger with an attempted Trader Joe's feel but in my eyes doesn't compare. No huge wow factor or big difference for me. I did like the fact that you can pick your own tomato medley and they actually had baby bok choy which at times is hard to find. Their "sock it to me" cake is delicious. Outside of that, I find the employees at Publix friendlier by far and the Kroger (Killian) to suit my needs just fine as they have an amazing cheese and wine selection as well as a Starbucks inside. I finally made it to this location after waiting till the hype calmed down about this new spot. This grocery store is a good mix of Kroger, Publix and Trader Joe's which all of these locations are within walking distance to Lowes. I'm sure it's going to be some stiff competition with having all of the same types of stores within a half mile from each other. It has a great set up and there is also a restaurant located in the grocery. I would return but it's probably not my first option. read more

This store is the best, hands down the best is South Carolina. Publix is right behind it. Of course it's a little pricey, but in my opinion you get what you pay for. I've seen people mention Trader Joe's, but I don't not and I repeat do not see what all the hype is about traders Joe's. Lowe's have fresh produce, great meats, and I absolutely love the smokehouse section. You can probably make a argument for Publix, but that's the only grocery store. Love the store and how helpful everyone is. My only issue is the bagging. Every time I go, an item is mashed. Example, a box was put on top of my bread. Another visit, I bought iced brownies, they were bagged top down so all the icing stuck to the packaging. I came here shortly after opening day and it was great. The meats which were smoked were well seasoned and tender; there were attentive personnel all over the store... basically it was as expected for a store just opening. What a difference a few months make! The smoked meats now are bland, and usually have been sitting out for quite a while. The salads; such as the seafood, now lack enough seasoning and mayonnaise to really still be called a salad. It's more like cut-up celery and fish chunks. What a shame; my wife was crazy about this stuff before the fall in quality. Most of the store personnel no longer acknowledge the customer... Surprise! Well, back to the various foods, it's just gotten to the place where you'll need to choose your purchases carefully. I made a bad choice recently, and paid the price. From the hot food bar, I chose the Salisbury Steak and gravy. Bad choice! This was by far the nastiest meat? that I've ever put in my mouth that I can remember in this lifetime. It tasted like medicine! I mean it was actually bitter! I couldn't believe it. Whoever put this stuff together, couldn't have tasted it; no way. Where this bitter mystery meat lacked in taste, it made up for in its "internal body cleansing properties." Never again. There are a few things that I'll still get IF I'm also going to the CVS which is next door. Otherwise, I'll be going back to Publix. read more

I love Lowe's foods, but the customer service here is horrible!!! I get an attitude every time I come here by at least one person. They sales associate don't know the meaning of yielding right of way to customer and was cut off the other day by someone stocking and stopped right in front of me blocking whole path around them so I had to turn around to back the way I came to even get out. Just want to go in here with receiving an eye roll or to just be acknowledged. read more

Petty alert! I'm getting ready to be petty. I enjoy shopping here for certain items like the aged meat (steaks) and bakery items. Like others have posted.. this place is comparable to the big brand grocery stores as far as price and selection. Produce isn't amazing but they have a very nice selection of dry goods which is nice. You can take a break from shopping and grab a beer. Or sit on the patio and enjoy a meal. Now petty... They have a nice little coffee shop that is better than most other shops in town. My opinion. I would go daily and get my latte made with almond milk. I noticed they tasted different one day. The barista told me they switched to vanilla almond milk. :( I like to add honey. I asked if they would ever get the plain almond milk back she said "no". They literally get the milk from the store. Now I have to go back to my old coffee shop.
