Return policy is up to associates who are helping you. Today, I went in to return a light fixture ordered online. I was informed this was a "special order" item since they don't carry it the store, and would be charged a 20% restocking fee. Supposedly I was speaking to the manager already, her name was Angela. Online it states "free returns by mail OR instore", and no where does it mention what I ordered was a "special order", just a basic light fixture, not cut to size etc. They actually returned my item, then charged me in a separate transaction for the additional 20%. I will never set foot in this Lowe's again, or any other Lowe's! Went in on 6/7/20 to purchase a Oklahoma Joes DLX pellet smoker. I wanted to buy from ACE Hardware but they were on back order. Once I finally found someone to help me, I asked if they price matched because Ace Hardware had the same smoker for $599.00, plus promised a free bag of pellets AND a free cover. Lowe's had theirs priced at $649.00. Oklahoma Joe's website has them priced at $599.00. When I asked Lowe's to price match it on the website they treated me as if I had to be lying about the website being cheaper! Lowe's honored the lower price and I was told they would put it together and I could pick it up the following day. They took my cell number and said they would call me when it's ready. I received no call by 3:30 the following day, so I called to see if the smoker was ready for pick up and they confirmed it was ready. My hubby and I jumped in the truck and were there within 15 minutes. I waited outside for 20 minutes in a hot truck and my husband comes out without the smoker! Hubby says, 'they gave our smoker to someone else!' WHAT?!? We left empty handed only to return 2 hours later to pick up another put together smoker. We followed the instructions the next day to prime the smoker and got an 'error failure' reading. We called Oklahoma Joe's-no answer. We inspect the unit to find wires pinched and hanging out of the controller panel! My husband had to take the controller panel off and noticed the wiring was connected wrong!!!! I would rather lose money than time. Money I can get back but my time I spent fooling with the unprofessional people at Lowe's I can NEVER get back! I'll never set foot in Lowe's again! Lowe's decided that I did not deserve it, instead gave me what they wanted, and if you're going to return it, I would have to pay for the pick. The staff here know absolutely nothing about what they sell, zero! They will however make up ridiculous stories of what they think is right just to shut customers up. They will not look into anything or help you find information because that would involve working . Shop somewhere else or buy at your own risk! Today we came in to buy vertical blinds. We had gone to Home Depot and hadn't been able to get help with what we needed after spending 45 minutes in the store. I told my husband, let's try Lowe's. Well, Brenda and another employee were both helping other customers, but said they would be right with us. Brenda helped us and explained which blinds could be cut. My husband gave her the measurements and she was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We thanked her for her assistance and for answering many questions. We were able to check out immediately and installed our blinds later that day. They fit perfectly. read more

We came here on an emergency basis after our water line to our sprinklers broke and it was some part in our mechanism to our system. Of course it was a part that no one has because our system is ten years old!! So now we have our water shut off and no part!!! The gal who waited on us was a huge help!!! She looked up what we had and what would work and figured out how and what we needed to do. Oh my gosh she was amazing when we were panicked on a Saturday night at 8:00. This is difficult to review. Jacob and the other associate in millwork were very helpful and we are grateful for their help and we purchased a custom Pella four panels patio door. Five star service. When we returned to pick up the second section we were told to find the millwork guys to help us load the second section. We walked around and finally found an associate... Darrell or Darren. He said he was at lunch and we asked if he could call someone for us (yes I understand California break laws), but he got confrontational. He said, 'I guess I'm going to do this,' and set his phone down, took our his earbuds and his Lowe's jacket. I missed this part in the video I posted, but he was clearly ready to fight. WoW! Pure Disappointment. Looking for a gas stove top. Found two that we wanted and both were in stock they said. The one that we really wanted wasn't on the inventory so the lady (Gloria) told us she will call us the next day and will let us know if they can sell it to us. I said sure this is a really good one. So yes the next day, I never got the call and I went over to see if they still had it. They couldn't find it so I said ok then we will take the other one. We are out of stock on all the stoves I wanted and will have to wait 3 months. Just never mind just wasted my time because they were never in stock anyways because they were not in stock to begin with. There are many reasons I prefer Lowe's over Home Depot. Don't get me wrong I go to Home Depot a lot but when it comes to my home purchases I really prefer the layout at Lowe's. It seems to be more geared towards someone shopping for things. The customer service is also great and the store just seems cleaner. They now carry Sherwin Williams paint which is awesome and they also sell craftsman products. All in all I enjoy their store. Compared to the Home Depot on Rosedale it is way better! First off let me start by saying I was always a shopper at Home Depot. You would never find me in a Lowe's ever. About a year before COVID hit I started to notice the Home Depot on Rosedale customer service go down. They were hiring people with no real experience and when you asked for something the answer was always if it's not out we are out of stock and the attitude the employees gave as if they were bothered by you asking them for help. I slowly lost my patience with them and then COVID hit and they became even worst at it which surprised me. It became a huge hassle. Anyways I drove a little further over to the Lowe's and started to find myself shopping here. At first I was frustrated a little not knowing the store or the layout but every time I walked to a store associate didn't matter what department, every single one of them knew exactly what item I was looking for and where to find it. Every time I walk by an associate they would say hi and ask if I needed any help. I tried the online order and to do a curbside pickup...this is where the customer serviced really exceeded here at Lowe's. The associate called me 30 minutes after my online order and wanted to confirm exact colors of my preference on some tiki torches I ordered, as well as notifying me she couldn't find a particular item yet but it may have came on the night before shipment so she was having someone get the pallet down to break them down to check. She called updating me 4 separate times until they store realized they didn't receive them. The items in total were about $6 yet the service delivered to try and make sure to triple check they didn't get misplaced was exactly what you want and they straight stole a customer out of me for a very long time. The overall selection in all departments is a step up from what you would be offered at a Home Depot. I appreciate their customer service efforts and making sure to supply everything needed for a typical DIY'er. The are also "business as usual" and have been the entire time meaning your not required to wear a mask while shopping which I highly appreciate BIG TIME!!! The added plus as well is there is now a IN an OUT in the same parking lot so if you time yourself well you can get your shopping done and grab a good burger on your way out. read more

While I was shopping I approached an associate to get some help. I went up to a guy named Ryan, he is bald with a beard and I would assume in his late 40's maybe 50s. My husband sent me in to get him a 3/8 drywall screw, and I had no idea where it was or how to find one. When I asked him he stared blankly at me, but then said he would call someone to help me. He walked off, but instead of getting someone he was pacing the aisle, he seemed as if he were on drugs, and in a drugged state. Is this the type of employee Lowes is proud of hiring? I know Bakersfield can be bad with that type of stuff, but this was awful. I am extremely upset with my experience, and felt like no one cared, especially when I went up to Ryan to ask if he was still planning on getting someone to help me, but instead just walked away from me. My perception of LOWES as a non professional consumer has always been that the product range, quality, and store environment are identical to Home Depot, and Lowes is more expensive. Despite that, I have favored Lowes because it seemed more convenient And yes, I can still find a store worker at Lowes to help me pull an item off a top shelf, 3 stars. But there is now no customer option to do anything but self checkout, even if you have a full cart and no place to set the items, a bunch of stickers on round items that won't scan, whatever it is that would cause you to choose to wait it out in line rather than have to call for help 3 times on self checkout. The employee or manager brock is extremely rude and the customer service only does returns whenever it's convenient too them. I've returned things from other Lowe's too other Lowe's before but for some reason Brock was saying it had too be returned too that exact Lowe's and even the employee next to him looked confused as if she's never heard of that before. We waited for a week for measurement and when it's time to install our stove top we were told the stove top we bought is not in stock. So frustrating. Waste of time. When in this store you find yourself asking, "does anyone work here?" The customer service you do find is horrible. I just bought a water heater from here. we told the associate that I need it delivered to my house, they ring it up as normal and for some reason can't change it. ok fine, I make arrangements to pick it up the next day, a manager tells me they will have it ready for me when I come tomorrow, I get there with a friend who has a truck and it takes 30 minutes for them to come and tell me that they are out of stock, angry now I go and find the exact one they rang up yesterday along with three more of the same model, so basically they don't know their own stock and they didn't even bother to look. Ordered a fridge online and it was delivered broken. I went to this store because that was the address on the delivery receipt. When I first walked in I went to the customer service desk, who immediately told me I had to go speak to someone in Appliances. I walked over to appliances and was greeted by Danny. I told him I had just had a fridge delivered and that it was leaking cold air. I ordered a freezer in October , they told me they had it in stock and it'll be delivered in two days . Two days pass and no freezer . No phone call no nothing I called and asked where it was , they told me it'll be here December 4th !! Ok so I wait . I called December 3rd to confirm it'll be delivered on the 4th they said yes . Why the 3 Stars well when it comes to speaking with someone knowledgeable it's really hard to find that person in this place. Yeah they can point you in the right direction to find and item but when you inquire on how to repair or what would be the best way to repair something you better go to Floyds and talk to one of the old guys. Now that the weather is warmer we are starting to plant more flowers and shrubs. I've come to the Lowe's on the Northeast corner of Rosedale and Coffee many times during the 14 years since I purchased my house, every time I decide to do yet another home improvement, landscaping, or decorating project. When I first moved in, I purchased the ceiling fan/overhead lighting fixtures for my living room and all three bedrooms AND I installed them all by myself (beaming proudly). I purchased several trees here around the same time to plant in my backyard which are still growing beautifully. Over the years, I've purchased paint to repaint the kitchen and a bedroom (mom helped with those). I also bought various sprinkler head and PVC piping to replace what I damaged while planting the trees I mentioned above and various flowering plants also purchased here. I've bought cabinets for the garage, air purifiers, power tools, and more than 80 fence slats to repair the fence around my backyard. You'd be surprised how much damage a pit bull can do when he is determined to get out, though once he escaped he usually just sat on my front lawn waiting for me to come home; so much for the great escape. Today, my visit was to pick up a mirror to put on the back of my bedroom door. Mom and I found exactly what we were looking for and then checked out using the self serve register which is really easy to use. We were in and out of the store in under 10 minutes. Over the years I have had two very negative customer service experiences, one in 1998 and one in 2010, where the associates teetered between being merely dismissive and outright rudeness. I have also had hundreds of positive experiences where the associates went out of their way to help me find exactly what I needed, staying with me or calling over additional associates until I was satisfied. In the end, I still feel they deserve a very positive rating. I have had particularly good luck purchasing plants from Lowes. They are always healthy hearty plants that survive well in Bakersfield's hot dry climate. read more

I ordered a dishwasher to be installed. Online it said it would be installed by May 26th but when the installer called he said they don't have any openings till May 29th. This morning when the Installer went to Lowe's to pick up my dishwasher it wasn't there, even though online it showed it was. After a phone call with Lowe's, it was there. Because of all that it's not being installed till Tuesday, and we have a business in the household. I would not recommend ordering online and having them install it. read more

Ordered through curbside pickup, checking online and no one came ever... after 10 minutes called curbside and waited another 15 minutes without anyone answering. Called over a cart boy for help and he never returned. Called once more and finally after 5 minutes got someone, she wouldn't tell me her name or the managers name after arguing for 5 minutes on the phone. Finally she told me Petra was the manger and he or she was not coming to the phone. By the way I never received my products I ordered because I finally drove off. I checked in online before 6:30pm 7/21/20 and by 7:00pm I drove off. After all the calling and waiting I can't get a refund because I wasn't able to speak to the manger and the girl in customer service refused to help me. I will never go to Lowe's again. We bought a large fan at the Rosedale store. A $265 item. Got it home, opened the box to find it was filthy (dust, fur, rusty) & missing the wheels. They had sold us a used, soiled item. How does this happen? Are previously returned items not checked for this sort of thing? We live an hour from the store. I wanted to be reimbursed for the gas & time involved & inconvenience returning the item. My wife phoned them. She talked to a manager who was nice as pie & promised we could return the item & they would upgrade us (this was irrelevant as that fan was the most expensive one they offered) & deduct anything else that was on that receipt. That would have worked ok. There was probably about $50 of merchandise on that receipt which was about the amount of gas we had used going back & forth. We got to the store & that manager was not there, in fact no one with the name given was there. The best the girl who helped us was able to offer was a 15% discount on an exchange or upgrade. So the only way we going to get any compensation for their shabby treatment, selling us a used, dirty, broken item was by continuing to spend money with them. We didn't want to exchange the fan because we didn't feel we could trust the item (all the boxes were taped up & battered & looked like they might have been returns). So we could do was to return the fan. We received none of the promised compensation & wasted a 2 hour round trip to Bakersfield. To recap, they sold us a used, dirty, broken item & accepted no responsibility for the time & inconvenience it took to resolve the issue. They did allow us to return the item but that was all. read more
