We stopped here in the hopes to fine one small strip of lights to finish of our pillar and one side of our balcony railing. The Lowe's by was sold out of almost every kind of light. I don't think I have ever seen that happen at all. Last light roll on the shelf, it's not wrapped at all. We checked that it works at least, but a bit odd without any wrapping on it at all. Staff manning the self checkout registers checked and there's supposed to be 5 more in the store, another staffer went to try to see if they have one wrapped for us. I think she was going to the back storage area. We had a bit of a wait to find they none in the back. The staffer had to ask if they could knock something off since the last remaining was missing the wrapping on it. The 3rd staffer had to ask yet another 4th person about reducing the cost of the lights. Seems like few people have any authority around here at all. Only discounts for damaged items. Who knows if it's been damaged before us or not. Would have it hurt them at all to give us even 10% off at all? How cheap.

There are some projects that are larger, which require professionals. But dammit, some things I should be able to do myself, even if I lack the knowledge or the tools. But going to the big box home stores fills me with a sense of dread. They are overwhelmingly large, it's hard to find anyone who can help you, and the whole experience leaves me drained, dizzy, and nauseated. So I had what I considered a fairly clever idea. Why don't I just call the small, local, neighborhood hardware store, and see if they can help me solve my minor home repair and maintenance challenges? I'll confess that I called another store first before reaching out to Jack's. But it was at Jack's where I found the help, patience, and expertise that I so desperately needed! Project number one was removing the gunk from between brick pavers on my patio, filling them with silicone sand, and other spring yard maintenance. I had no tools beyond the phone in my hand. But Dan, on the other end of the line, walked me through the tools and equipment I would need. He told me the prices, took my order and payment over the phone, and had everything ready for a semi-contactless pick up! That went so well, I returned for project number two, replacing the window well covers that had cracked. Now I am the proud owner of my very first ratchet set! At least, I think that's what it was called. I thought I was going to need some power tool to do the job, and was prepared to drop a lot of money, but I walked out with a bill of about $30... and a Twinkie. Don't judge. It was for my daughter. Needless to say, I have no intention of ever setting foot again in one of those big box home stores. I have Jack's, and it's fantastic!

The staff has been very helpful helping me sort out best solution to a number of issues as I had an older home. They almost always have what I need, saving me a trip to a big box store. I appreciate that they are closer and the store is not enormous and it's easy to find things in - and if I can't, the staff always knows where everything is.

I have found the product selection, the staff and their knowledge (each person may have a speciality over another of course but not everyone can possibly be an expert in all things) and if they are not sure they will always find someone who does know how to help me. I have found this store to be refreshing particularly as a woman as I am oftentimes given the label of "she doesn't know what she's doing". I am actually very handy and impress my male friends more than they'd like to admit. I've been handy since I was a little kid fixing things before my dad got home from work so my mom wouldn't have to deal with holding the flashlight over him for 7+ hours trying to fix something he knew nothing about. I am treated with respect and their employees are not only friendly and proactive without being annoying they assume I do know what I'm asking for even if I may not, I applaud their team and leadership as it creates an environment that I feel excited to be in and confident I will be helped by someone who is capable of helping or honest enough to say they are not an expert in that area but will find someone who is and do some research of their own and listen in so they can learn too! I was floored by this particularly last time I visited the store. Thank you for providing a great experience and knowledge to help me figure out what I need and next steps to tackle my many many home projects. I always find the coolest gifts in here too, there are so many hidden gems. Below is a project that we were given advise on for how we wanted the end product to look, how to safely place everything and what products to use without breaking the bank or our sanity.
