We had a horrible experience with Lowe's. I never had any strong feelings for Lowe's before, though for some reason I leaned toward it a bit more than Home Depot (for some reason, it seems a little cleaner in a Lowe's than an HD, and less warehouse-y). We went to this Lowe's, instead of the one in Lincolnwood that is 10 minutes away, because they had an A/C installer available. We purchased two A/C units and signed a contract for installation with them, with the promise by the clerk that we would receive a call within 48 hours to set up a time for installation. I called the following Saturday - after almost a week had gone by (we purchased on a Sunday) to find out why we hadn't been called, and to set up an installation. The girl who answered informed me that the people who work in that department were not there past 4 pm on Saturday. The next time I called I did get an employee in the installation sales department, and she informed me that the reason our purchase hadn't been installed was because we had been charged for installation of only one of the A/C units, not two. Of course I was a bit annoyed by this, and she went on to say that she could charge the second installation to the same credit card and set up a time for installation. I told her that since it wasn't my card, it wasn't my place to allow them to charge additional funds, and that I would have to find out when would be a good time for installation (both of us work during the week, and since it had been a week already we didn't want to have to wait until the following weekend for installation). We called again to find out what the total charge would be and what installation dates & times were available, and learned that she had in fact charged the additional fee (over $100) to the credit card. At that point, we refused to allow the service and demanded a refund of the installation charges. I haven't been to Lowe's since, and don't plan on returning anytime soon; I also make sure to let people know to be careful when dealing with them. The whole experience bothered me on several levels. For one thing, the woman in installation sales made several assumptions; one, that I was the wife of the credit card holder; the second being that if I was the wife, I would automatically be an authorized user of the credit card. On top of that, we paid for an installation of at least one of the units, even if the employee who rang up our purchase forgot to charge a second one. Since we didn't get any break on more than one installation (it was the same charge per installation for 1 or 10 installations), they should have come out to install the first unit, then come out a second time if they had to. The fact that the installation sales department didn't even feel the need to contact us about the installation OR the mistake in charge destroyed any faith I have in the reliability and professionalism of Lowe's. read more

This Lowes will not refund you if you lost your receipt. The employees at the return desk were not very helpful either. I got mixed messages from them when I attempted my return. At first they told me to return and speak with a manager, who would give me a gift card instead of a refund. When I returned, the manager told me that they do not accept returns without receipts. The Home Depot will issue store credit if you lost your receipt. My advice is to shop at The Home Depot. read more

No response from Lowe's said they would extend a credit. Never happened. Still have not heard from Brian Fuller who oversees the store. I paid full price online for a gas range, purchased the gas line (for installation) and paid an extra $20 to haul away the dead range. New range was delivered quickly -- 2 days. But, the delivery guys just plunked the giant box in the middle of my living room. No installation, no haul-away. My son was there to accept delivery. When I saw the box and scowled, my son called customer service and learned that i had to appear in person to sign an installation contract (thus negating the usefulness of buying online). My son traveled to Lowe's that same night, signed the contract, paid AGAIN for installation and haul-away ($700 + $125) and said he wanted an install date. No such luck. They told him to expect a call the next day to arrange a date for installation. No call after 2 days. Finally, we called and installers came (6 days later) Installers were grouchy and complained that ours was one of 21 service calls they had to complete that day. There was grumbling that the delivery guy hadn't done his job -- and now this poor guy had to take on the other guy's work. Anyway, not my circus; not my monkeys. Corporate admins should know problems exist in online delivery instructions, delivery service and techs, subcontracted installers, and having to sign an installation contract -- even when one orders online. EVERY BIG BOX store offers free delivery and installation. I'm guessing some other store does it better. read more

Update AGAIN: Came again because of a situation with last dishwasher and Bryce is so sweet, so is Jose. Amazing amazing representatives of Lowe's I mean seriously. Jose helped and Bryce just went above and beyond to handle what I needed done. I also love the vibes of these two. Very honest and trustworthy people in general. Ricardo is such a cool dude also, he helped me in cutting my wood for a project and did it PERFECTLY. Wasn't a centimeter off and overall really personable. This dude makes you want to come into Lowe's just because he's so dang cool! Honestly I can't stop saying nice things about this establishment and I feel safe with doing business here. First of all, the parent company apparently is trying to save money by not hiring enough employees and sales people. Second, the manager (because of lack of sales people) sold me a Bosch dishwasher that this store, nor other stores, had in stock. I found this out when the plumbers, contracted by the store, tried to schedule the install and found out there was no dishwasher available. The manager and the wonderful salesperson, Gina, now aware of there mistake finally offered after haggling with them to give me an upgraded Bosch. I accepted and waited for the plumbers to contact me. The plumbers contacted me for installation then informed me that there would be an up charge for installation because I live on the third floor. The store never made me aware of this or asked if I lived on an upper floor. I waited to write this review because I read the negative reviews and were concerned but it's been a month so I think it's safe to give an accurate review. I knew that going to a home improvement store on the weekend was not going to happen. Too crowded. So I waited til early afternoon on a Monday. Walked straight over to the washing machines and dryers. I knew which ones I was interested in thanks to their website. The employee was present working on the computer and I had no issue getting his attention or purchasing the item I wanted. The whole process took 15 mins. Unfortunately the model wasn't in stock and I was told it should be there in a couple days. Fast forward to Wednesday and I called to verify the status. Was told the model I purchased was actually discontinued and I'd be getting the upgrade for no extra charge. Whoooo hoooo! Scheduled delivery. Earliest delivery was Sunday. Which was Easter so I thought that was a bit odd. Scheduled it for Monday. Night before I received an automated call letting me know what time to expect delivery. Was told between 12 and 2. Next day delivery guy called me at 10 and said they were on their way. They disconnected and hauled away my old machine. Excellent customer service! I searched for months to find the perfect kitchen backsplash to finish my DIY remodel. I made a decision last week, but waited until today to buy. I go to order 35 sq feet online only to discover my beloved backsplash is not only clearanced, but discontinued! I went to my local store (Lincolnwood) only to discover someone beat me to the punch. They only had 25 pieces left, and I was told that the store in Northbrook had 42 pieces in stock. I was told to go to Northbrook (shame on you, Lincolnwood staff for not calling ahead). I spent over an hour there as the staff searched high and low for the boxes of backsplash. Unfortunately, what was listed in stock, was actually no where to be found. No fault of the Northbrook staff, they tried their hardest to help me. Should they have a better account of their inventory? Yes, but that's not why I'm here. I'm here to PRAISE the staff at the Brickyard store. On my way back from Northbrook, I called Brickyard with a very specific request to not only look in the system, but look on the floor for the backsplash. Tony, the flooring staff said he found two boxes (20 pieces). I told him I was on my way. When I got there, a sad-faced Tony met me at customer service. "I'm sorry but a box was mislabeled and we only have 8 pieces." I almost started crying, spending my entire day hunting down my discontinued backsplash. Without skipping a beat, Tony told the cashier, "discount each piece to $1 and call the other store to see what they have in stock." I was completely shocked! Not looking for a discount, just wanted my tiles. Tony could tell I was heartbroken, but turned my awful day into a happy one! I was about to give up on Lowe's because of their TERRIBLE inventory system...how do you lose 42 sq ft of backsplash? Tony saved the day with a little empathy and authority. So I'm leaving 5 perfect stars because of my experience this week with one particular employee from the windows/doors department at this Lowe's location. I had actually gone to a different Lowe's located on touhy a day prior and had such a bad customer service experience but decided to try a different location here on Narragansett and I'm glad I did. Leo Earle is the name of the sales rep who took care of me during a very busy weekend afternoon. The place was crowded but this man went above and beyond to help me on a home project that I had little knowledge about. He was extremely professional and patient with me. He quoted me different options, Styles, sizes, and went through every single brand to show me similarities and differences with styles/cost. He made sure I was seated and comfortable while quoting this project and offered great insight and knowledge throughout the whole process. This was a pretty time consuming request because of the details I had inquired about but Leo was a true professional who never once tried to rush me. So I ended up going ahead with the purchase because compared to every place I had quoted this project with, he was the most patient and well educated rep who really took the time to explain everything thoroughly. I truly value this type of attention to customers because it is actually so rare these days! From the very beginning to end this person was a true leader who carried himself with kindness, respect and professionalism. I would totally recommend this location only because of him, just as I was ready to quit Lowe's altogether due to previous experiences in another location; this employee was a true gem and I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

Two customer reps said they would honor the discounted rate and in the end the manager said he will not honor the online rate because the terms and conditions of their site states, "Lowe's cannot and does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the Materials displayed on the Site, including, without limitation, prices, product images, specifications, dimensions, availability and services." People in this store are so lazy. I was looking for floor protector pads that you attach to the bottom of furniture legs. Didn't see any employees around so I asked at customer service. They wouldn't check where and insisted the were in aisle 2. I said I just checked that aisle but they insisted they were there. I checked again. No my eyes weren't deceiving me. I have never wrote a review before because I have never had an experience that frustrated me enough to write one. NEVER, and I mean NEVER Consider shopping here. I bought a chest freezer here for like 1k. Not a small purchase. I was ready to take it home that day but they didn't have anyone to go get it for me so they insisted shipping it. I obliged. The chest freezer got to me looking like a crushed soda can. This thing was destroyed. Obviously I rejected the delivery. I proceed to call and ask for another or a refund and I swear no employee at this store has the slightest idea of what's going on. It's like they all play a game of tossing you to the next person or the guy that opens the next day so they don't have to deal with the issue themselves. This has been the worse customer service experience of my life. It actually doesn't even make sense to me how so many incompetent people congregated into one building. I actually don't even know what to do at this point. They still have my money at the time of this review. I have called for 5 days straight. Haven't made a centimeter of progress. I like shopping here; but please don't make the mistake of buying an appliance with delivery. After 3 unsuccessful attempts to get a new stove delivered, I had to cancel the order. Originally scheduled for Aug 6th, the driver didn't show, and later I received a phone call that they couldn't deliver on that day. I thought, this is how things go in our post covid world. So, I rescheduled for the 10th. On the 10th, the driver didn't have the right equipment to handle the stove and damaged it getting it off the truck. So, I rescheduled for Aug 20th. On that day, the driver showed up but didn't have the right adapter to instal the stove (even though I had paid for an install kit). So, He could bring it up, but wouldn't be able to install it. That wouldn't work for me! I called Lowes, and was told that they would issue a refund. After a few days no refund appeared on my credit card. Called Lowes, again on the 27th, and was told that the stove was delivered! I asked to speak with a manager, who was very nice, and confirmed that the stove was not delivered, and was confirmed to be in their warehouse. (I wonder how long it would have sat there before someone would think of contacting me!). I recommend that for appliances, you make the long trip to Abt Electronics in Glenview. Do not use Lowes for fence installation. The prior installation company they used were excellent until they decided not to deal with Lowe any more. When they repaired my fence they damaged the post. Took Lowes 2 months to bring a replacement, the new company they hired 3 more months to come out and look at the broken pole and here it is over a month and nothing has been done. I went there to see if I could get a price match on a vacuum since I had gift cards for Lowes I wanted to use but they wouldn't honor it. The vacuum was cheaper at bed bath and beyond so asked customer service and they said bed bath and beyond was "not a competitor" and that they only price match competitors. This sounded wrong so I called customer service and they said they would price match bed bath and beyond if it met their guidelines. but after the customer services rep looked in to the deal bed bath and beyond was giving he said the discount was too much and that Lowes could not honor the price. After looking at the price match rules on the Lowes website it says nothing about this rule and in fact the item met every rule they listed. They need to be clearer about the price match and get rid of the "gauentee' in the "price match gaurentee" wording . Very disappointing.. read more

This is by far the worst Lowe's in the city. I rarely come here without encountering an issue. They have broken blinds we have had cut. We have been made to wait on numerous occasions because associates can't handle a simple return or products are not marked or marked incorrectly or they are severely understaffed. Once, we were made to wait 20 minutes while they researched a mis-marked product. The associate never asked if we needed a bag and rang us up. When I asked for a bag she enforced the rule that they cost 7 cents. I suggested since they made us wait she give us the bag. Nope. Wouldn't do it. Apparently, 7 cents is more important than a returning customer. I'll be going out of my way to frequent another Lowe's. It will save me time over dealing with the ridiculously bad service at the Brickyard. read more

My fiance and I just bought a house and have been doing quite a few repairs and even some remodeling in the house within the past few months. Lowe's is relatively close to my house, which has been nice since we have been making several trips a week to get materials. Unfortunately, many of these trips have been very displeasing. On one of our first trips to Lowes, we make an attempt to rent a hardwood floor sander. We ask an employee walking buy how we are to go about doing that and this particular employee is unsure. No big deal, we'll ask someone else. So... the mext person we ask is unsure too, but he is going to go to get a fellow employee to help, which turns out to be a person whom also doesn't know. Finally, we track down a fourth person, someone who can help us. He says he thinks he heard that one of them is broken, but he isn't sure which one that is. Apparently, he just picked the newer looking one for us and assumed it would work. We pay and take it out to our car. We can't find anyone to lift it up into our car, but grab a kid in the parking lot who agrees to help us. When we get home, we realize that this sander was the broken sander. UGH. So we pack up the sander and drive back to Lowes to retrieve the other sander that they have displayed on the floor. Again, we cannot find anyone to help us. So we just wheel it right out of the store--and no one even stopped to ask us any questions! Just let us wheel out thousands of dollars worth of equipment right out of the store without any receipts. We get out to the car and we find two Lowe's employees and ask them to help us load the sander into our car. They take the old sander out and put the new sander in. When they finish, they leave the old sander sitting in the parking lot and walk away. REALLY now?! Who does that? It was hysterical. They obviously really care about their jobs... So anyway... We get the sander home only to find that this sander is also broken. Believe it.... we gave them a mouthful. But it didn't matter because they didn't hear one word of it. On another trip back to Lowes that following afternoon, we noticed that both the broken sanders were still sitting out on the floor waiting to be rented. This store has been a bright spot for me in my home improvement binges (I have a problem with tools, like my wife has a problem with shoes, but dont tell her that lol) I made a pretty big purchase from there last summer. A shed, it was the only one I could find that was 8x10, without a floor, for around $900. I also purchased the lumber to build the floor myself, 16 inch centers for heavy stuff. Got the shed home and some of the parts were missing. This would usually "p" me off pretty bad, but when I called them they asked me what I was missing and told me to come and get the parts. On my way there, I went by Menards to look at the same shed and it was $749.00. This Lowe's refunded the 100 dollars I paid them over Menard's cost plus ten percent. A young kid let me pull my truck in the service bay and load my truck when I made the original purchase. Can't believe I haven't been back to this Lowe's. read more

I went to this Lowes because it was the closest to the house. Unfortunately I will NEVER shop here again. All I wanted was a car key made. I waited 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge that I was standing there. Mind you this was at 7pm on a Wednesday. The guy who was helping was reeling in bliss to do so. He took my original key and crammed it into as many places he could to size it. And I observed him forcing it into the "correct" size and thus, making my key from that selection. I get home and try out my new keys and guess what they didn't even fit in the lock or ignition. I return Friday and customer service didn't care to hear my story of the wonderful happy employee I experienced nor did they seem to care that I was returning product. I ended up going back to the key desk in hopes that the next guy would know what he was doing. I was wrong again. I ended up asking where a locksmith was as he was cutting my new key....he didn't even stop and process the question. I took my original key and left. My husband and I are not very savvy in the botanical department, so we decided to seek out a little help from the local Lowe's, because "Lowe's Knows". Or at least that is what we had been led to believe, not the case at this particular location. There are massive amounts of flowers to choose from and it's slightly overwhelming. We approached one of the employee's to get a little advice. She notified us that she was filling in, in the gardening department and didn't know anything about flowers. I said, "Should we ask another employee?" she then stated that everyone working in that department was just filling in. On a Saturday? On the hunt for a large mirror for above our fireplace, Lowe's ranked pretty low on my list of places to buy such an item. Thanks to my mom's suggestion, we went there to check out their home decor section. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much because Home Depot just has basic mirrors, nothing decorative and worthy of our fireplace hearth. To my surprise, they have a wide selection and sizes of mirrors. With our measurements in hand, we found a silver mirror suiting our tastes (a mix of contemporary, traditional, nothing gaudy). For $80, we got a mirror perfect for our hearth instead of paying a lot more at a home furnishing store. In less than a half hour, we had a mirror and a small trash can for our second bathroom in hand. I also lusted after a great outdoor patio set, but we just dropped a small fortune on a dining room table set, so no patio set yet! Overall, we had a great experience there. read more

What got me a bit upset was the manager. She was a young Hispanic girl with a bad attitude and no personality or customer service at all. She was called because the price was wrong in one of the items and she was just needed to put the right price in the register. She did not help one bit. She charge with the wrong price. First I want to say the the customer service at Lowes is awesome when you buy a product at the store. Everyone there is great. Way better then the Home Depot that is also by the brickyard. The problem I had at Lowes was when I order items like security doors or blinds for my home. They use outside vendors that are horrible. I had security doors installed and the people that installed them looked like they just came out of prison. They smoked all day long and left cigarette butts all over the floor. The doors they installed had scratches and chips all over the door. When I asked to replace it they used this white out type paint that didn't match. They dripped all over my floor forcing me to have to pressure wash it. I was very disappointed. All this to say if you go to Lowes ONLY buy the products at the store. DO NOT USE THEIR OUTSIDE VENDORS!! read more
