Staff are fine if you can actually talk to one, but they are so understaffed that either they don't answer or say they will call back and it takes many many hours. Their IT system is a mess - ordering from the wrong store despite redoing this multiple times, and canceling orders with no explanation. I was trying to order a dryer and then a washer. If I could rate them on their ability to screw up my bank account, I'd give them five stars. We purchased our kitchen appliances from this store. One of the items was not in stock at the time, and a week or so later when the item came in, without warning they credited our account and then charged us again. Because credits don't come through instantaneously, and the amount they did this with was quite large, it completely screwed up our bank account and caused an overdraft. Like an idiot, a month later I went to the same store to buy a washer. The washer was 10% off and the state was offering an additional instant 15% rebate. The cashier didn't know that she needed to do anything to process the instant rebate. Once I pointed out that she didn't do it correctly, we needed to cancel the transaction. Instead of canceling the transaction, she put it through, refunded it, and charged me again. So now there is - again - a bunch of money missing from my bank account that will take several days to get back. She also said she'd checked out several customers who thought they had gotten the rebate, but apparently they had not. These employees need to be more careful with customers accounts, and learn what how to do their jobs. The service in general here is generally awful. I've been told over the phone that they have items, and 15 minutes later when I get there I find that this item was not in stock. I've asked employees where simple basic hardware items are, and they have no idea what I'm talking about. The employees are busy screwing around, yelling across several lanes at each other, and complaining about customers instead of paying attention to customers. On my trip today the first cashier I attempted to go to didn't know what he was doing and just kept sending customers to other lanes (there was only one other open aside from customer service - where there was no cashier at the register). read more

I had a terrible experience purchasing and installing a dishwasher. First, I chose to purchase in store and take home on my own to try and avoid the delivery and installation fees. At checkout, I was told very confidently that replacing my current dishwasher with the new one was a very simple process, basically unplugging everything from the old dishwasher and plugging back in to the new one. This was completely false. My car was too small to take the dishwasher home (my own fault) so I rented a truck which was a perfectly fine experience. Next, when I wasn't able to install the new dishwasher, I called the store to set up an installation. I was told by someone claiming to be a manager that I would have to call in the next morning to schedule a FREE EMERGENCY INSTALLATION. No part of this exists. There is no control over the installation by the store and no such thing as an emergency installation. Out of frustration I went to the store to solve the issue. I was given a generous discount on the dishwasher for being inconvenienced and I paid for an installation, being told they would reach out within 48 hours to schedule the installation. I was never contacted about the installation so I canceled it and hired an outside contractor to install it for me. Everyone at this store treated me very well, however nobody could give me the same answer as another person and their service was unreliable. I will not be going back. read more

I am torn on this place. First, I like it because it is less scary than going to Home Depot for me and Lowe's carries a really nice selection of plants for the "garden-challenged" like me. Second, I had a good experience when buying a new dishwasher from the place - got a great deal on a last year's model, installation as promised and no problems with the machine. But, we went back two weeks ago to buy a new high efficiency washer and steam dryer and that is when things got dicey. We buy our models, over $2600 worth and are told we wil get a call during the week about installation the next weekend. Fine - my old machines run, so there is no hurry and I don't want to take off of work and wait around all day if I can schedule a Saturday. Then, we don't get a call until the next Friday and are now told they shipped two driers. We proceed to get calls every day about the trouble they are having locating our washer and blah blah blah. Just call me when they come in. Plus, we start getting automated calls every night at 9 (that will keep calling until you pick up) telling us installation is the following day. When we get a call from a live driver telling us the machines are coming, I figure he must have them on his truck and get my mother to take off and come stay at the house during the day. She waits 4 1/2 hours for nothing - the driver was wrong - and she is PISSED! The store manager offers us a $200 credit - which is super nice, but we still have no answer on exactly when the machines will be here (this Saturday is the new promise) and the automated calls have started again. And, with the promise of the machines coming, I had a new window installed with the dryer vent, so now the old drier is unhooked - I need to do laundry this weekend, so I am hoping they make good on their promises. If so, all will be forgiven and we will take the credit and put it towards a new garage door installation! read more

Purchase a craftsman riding lawnmower it was delivered today the lawn mower would not turn on, battery was dead, had rust on all the wheel wells and the manual appeared to waterlogged. Was on hold for 45 minutes asked for a replacement and was told it would take 9 months to send a replacement. Thank God for 30 day full return. How dare Lowes send broken used product to a value customer and the best you can do is say you will send a new one in 9 months. Beyond disappointment with the product and customer service we just received. Shame on you Lowes!!! read more

I have been to Lowe's several times, and found that generally, they are usually better and more knowledgeable than folks at home depot, and they seem like they are actually interested in helping you, which is nice. However, I just went to the Brickyard Lowe's and asked about a new water saving device you can install in your existing toilet (just saw one at a relatives house) and did they have them in stock. They proceeded to try and sell me a new toilet, and told me not only did they not have them, they "never ever heard of" one that could fit in an existing toilet. The very next day we found one of these "extremely rare and unheard" of items at Costco. Employee product knowledge FAIL. read more

There comes a moment in spring when the landscape is a-wash with sun, the temperatures climb above sixty and you think "OMG, I have to get the garden started!" So you haven't started your own seeds over the winter? Never mind that, Lowes can fix you up with some of the prettiest plants and flowers you could want. I can't say that their prices are unbeatable, but they're sure not at the level of some of the specialty places like Gethsemane Gardens. And I wouldn't look for really unusual items there because they stock what they know most people want, which is a lot of bang (color, scent, ease of cultivation) for the buck. And I have to say that they have a better selection, over all, than the nearby Home Depot. I was most impressed by their larger, better-established plants such as the enormous pot of Spanish lavender for about $36. And that may seem like a lot of money, but had you seen the lush growth or smelled the clean scent that hung over the area where they were shown, I think you might have been seduced to the lavender side, too. There were very beautiful specimens of grape and berry plants, again, not cheap but well-established and in the case of the strawberries, already setting fruit with real vigor. The blueberry has a mass of blooms ready to open and while our grape and blackberry plants are not yet committing to anything but upward mobility, I have no fear that they will disappoint. These are happy, healthy plants and I suspect they'll be bearing fruit all summer. I really was quite impressed with the selection, there, and when we come to fill our window boxes and containers next weekend, I know I'll be going back to Lowes to find just the right plants. read more

Ok, coming from a guys perspective and the fact that this should be our Mecca, I just haven't been impressed with Loews in over a decade now. Since I used to do construction; this place used to cater to the needs and wants of the consumer all the way up to the contractor. I remember ordering a truck load of materials at 7/8AM and having them on the job site around noon. Now it seems like they can't do anything! I can't get a red bull or a soda at the door, the bathrooms are filty. (Ladies, when you are a contractor, you may only get to go at these places) just one disappointment after another. Prices aren't all that competitive and you can't ask a trade question to kid working a weekend job. I know why I frequent Menards & Home Depot... But, sometimes your employee aren't so bright and have no idea what i am talking and or explaining about. The customer service at this store was really great and the managers on staff were extremely helpful in trying to accommodate our needs. Lowe's has a specific product that only they carry and the management made sure that we got a speedy delivery. We paid for our special order on Wednesday evening and Lowes had it delivered to our place by Saturday morning. There was no extra charge for the rush delivery and everyone who helped us along the way was great. Getting to the location for those unfamiliar was confusing. read more

I never really have a problem with lowes when ever I shop here but today was just awful. I went to the garden section for weed killer and your employee Maria, young girl with puffy texture hair and thick black glasses gave me the worst experience. When I asked which weed killer was best, she angrily rolled her eyes and huffed as if I was an annoyance. I understand these are hard times for everyone but a job is a job. She said she would ask someone else for the weed killer and never returned. After 20 min I found it myself. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. This is my experience. I purchased a washer less than two years ago and it suddenly stopped working. The part that was broke was not covered under warranty. It was going to cost me $450 to get fixed. The only parts that are covered are the ones that will never break. I ended up buying another washer from Lowe's on Thursday, October 27. It was delivered Saturday. I ran a load an hour after receiving the washer and noticed it was leaking. Call Lowe's immediately and schedule the repair man to come Sunday between noon and four. They didn't call until 7 PM at night only to find out they were movers and not repairman. Now I call Lowe's again but no one can help me until the following day. Now today's Monday and I call first thing in the morning only to be put on hold for 45 minutes. I ended up going into the store to talk to a sales associate and they told me they've never call for repair man on your behalf that you need to do that on your own. So why did the woman two days prior lie to me and say she set up a repairman when she did not. Currently was on hold for over an hour with the number I was referred to to schedule repair. The earliest date is November 15. I've never had this issue while dealing with ABT or Home Depot. They've always been quick to fix an issue. I will write a follow up review on November 15. read more

Called ahead and asked if they would price match a dewalt dsw779 from Home Depot. They said yes. Gave them particular details including price and model number. Got to the store and found the saw and some other items. They asked me to step off to the side when I presented the item and the advised price at Home Depot. Get like I was being treated like a shop lifter. After 10 minutes or so,they confirmed that it was the exact same item, but would not price match it, because it was "special buy" and a "Black Friday deal" (on November 7, unclear if they consulted a calendar). Not sure what good a price matching policy is if they refuse to compete. Will never make another purchase from Lowe's again. Two hours out of my Saturday with driving and shopping, with a prior phone call to the store, for nothing. read more

Called to check on it, was hung up on by customer service FOUR (4) times, and another FIFTH (5) time when I asked to speak to a manager. Called back 2 days later, told it was on the truck, currently being unloaded, and would be ready for pickup "first thing tomorrow morning" (Thursday). Called Thursday morning to check, was hung up on 3 times, then was told that it's be several more days until another delivery of that item. They were flustered when I said I was told that it was being unloaded the night before, then I was transferred to the lumber department for some reason. Disappointed. Had always been a Lowes fan. Purchased an item online today for pickup - a $500 pergola. Bought the last one. Received email stating item was ready for pickup. Was told at the store their listed inventory includes floor models. 1. Why would you offer to sell me this and not tell be it's a floor model until I arrive? 2. Why notify me the item is ready for pickup unless you intended to sell me something not new in box. This is total B.S. I don't blame the employees. This seems like more of a company-wide policy. This is best example of the worst Lowes store location I've ever come across. My mom hired them to handle a remodel and renovation project, and now it's 4 weeks past "ultimate finish by date", they've clogged her one working sink, air pockets in the floor, hardware that was supposed to be delivered wasn't or has gone missing. They also completely redone the floor and walls, but forgot to run cable wires through it so now the cable wires will be mounted on the outside of her brand new floors. Everything has been a complete hassle, frustration, and a nightmare. Don't go here. read more

They are visibly understaffed and that's a management issue not the staff. There is no social distancing and people are not wearing masks. The wait times are long both to get helped and check out. I do not recommend pick up orders, tried it, they couldn't find my order for two days. This place is lacking leadership for the staff and adequate staffing and it's felt at every encounter. Employees will call for the correct person to assist you over the intercom, but no one comes. Not until a couple requests at least. Want to get new windows installed at your condo or home? Do not even consider using Lowes! In Dec 2016, we purchased windows from Lowes to be installed in Jan 2017. When the windows arrived in January, so many were damaged (deep scratches in wood, etc) that close to half had to be sent back to the manufacturer. Unfortunately, because we live in an old home, the windows were special order it took approximately a month for the replacement windows to arrive. Once again, there was damage to some of the windows and, once again, replacements had to be ordered. Surprise, when the second round of replacements arrived...there were still damaged sashes/windows. Construction started in January...and didn't finish until END OF MAY. We were told it would be a one week project max. I have two young children (including a crawling baby) in my home and our Lowes sales rep (as well as the installer) assured me and my husband that a lead based paint test would be performed before construction began and we'd be informed of the results. No results were ever provided and when I raised this issue with the Lowes Project Coordinator, she told me that she was fairly certain it was done and that the installer (+ Lowes) had just forgotten to give us the results. Prior to the install, we had offered to leave our home during the construction because we were concerned about the lead based paint dust with our kids. We were assured that even if the paint tested positive, that there would be little to no dust inside our home. Unfortunately, that was not accurate and there was extensive black dust in our family room and downstairs bathroom. I cleaned for three hours before giving up and hiring a professional cleaning crew to finish. We had purchased our home 6 months prior to the construction beginning and had the home painted prior to moving in. The installer scratched numerous wood trim pieces. Additionally, one of the windows was installed so crooked that it actually let light in at the bottom when locked. I continuously updated Lowes corporate "Project Coordinator" (still can't figure out what she was coordinating during this project) via email/phone on the status of our project and it would frequently take her 5-10 days to email me back! On one lovely occasion, it took her 3 weeks to get back to me despite phone calls and emails. "Partnering" with Lowes on this project was a nightmare. Five months of attempting to get windows installed and we received only slightly more than a 10% discount off our total purchase price of close to $30,000 for our troubles. Obviously, I will never use them for home services in the future...but I'm so disgusted with the company that I'll never set foot in one of their stores again. read more

Here is my thing my 1 is for management. I waited for about 20 minutes to get something the cashier called an override and no one ever came. I just left my items on the counter and exited the store, the cashier apologized and I told her not to worry about it. She kept paging for a "code 99" whatever that is and upon closing time another customer came in visibly upset about a propane exchange that no one ever went to go get. Why do they have the cashiers alone up front?! The management at Home Depot always has 3-4 people in front with their cashiers. And they have self-check out by the way they have Apple Pay which Lowe's does not! Never again it was my first time visiting here and most definitely my last! Also they're not understaffed they're firing people I overheard two cashiers talking about it, sounds very suspicious that when the minimum wage went up Lowe's starts to let go of people. read more

I recently learned that Lowes has a free "Build & Grow" workshop to encourage children the love and appreciation of woodworking. I enrolled my husband and my 3 year old for their "Build a skeleton" workshop. The sign up online was easy and painless. They put together a really cool movable skeleton complete with glow in the dark appliques. My son received a certificate of completion as well a patch to sew on of his accomplishment. He was super excited and happy that he was able to not only take the class but was able to use real tools. I think that the concept is fantastic and a great opportunity for parents to bond with their children. On the store itself, I love it. I much prefer it to other home repair centers. The customer service here is exceptional, and I love the fact that I can preorder an item for pickup or check the status of an item's availability online. I have also found that many of their prices are better than their competitors. Lowes is the best place to buy organizational tools. I am a sucker for those things. read more

I've been to pretty much every Home Depot, Mendard's, and Lowe's in Chicagoland (that includes the suburbs). This location is without question the worst home improvement store I've ever been to. I started my poor experience off when I called and wanted to talk to the paint department to see if they had a specific brand/type of stain in stock. It took about an hour of phone calls. They transferred me, put me on hold, hung up. Called back, same thing. Called back, put on hold for 20 minutes until someone at the service desk transferred me and it hung up. I called back again and she connected me with the store's general manager, who right away said "no we don't have that" as if he knew every stain in the store. I also asked if it could be special ordered, he told me no. This particularly struck me as odd since Olympic's own site listed this Lowe's as a store that carried what I was seeking. Fast forward six hours. I needed some lumber, and after calling the Menards and Home Depot closer to me, I found I'd save about $100 by getting it from this location of Lowe's. I also needed screws, but had a question about which specific screws could be used with the wood I was using it with. The packages had contradicting, vague information. I waited at the hardware desk for about 15 minutes, not seeing an employee in site. Eventually I went to the service desk and asked them to page someone. About 20 minutes later still nobody had come, so I asked her to page them again. Still nobody. Meanwhile people were at the service desk screaming at the lady because they weren't being helped, she seemed to be the only employee in the store. After a good 50 minutes of waiting for a person to help me in the hardware aisle, someone came. It wasn't his department and he said he wasn't completely sure, so what does he do? he reads the box. Well duh. He didn't reallllly know despite the fact that he gave an answer saying "yes" they would work. Internet research later contradicted this information, had I bought the screws he just guessed would work, the screws would have failed, causing an entire deck to fail. This location could disappear from the face of the planet tomorrow and the world would be a better place. I usually love Lowe's, but seriously, I can't believe how terrible this location is. If you're in Chicago and must go to Lowe's, go to the one on Touhy instead... That one is probably convenient anyway, it's much, much closer to a highway. read more

I AM A LANDLORD AND I BEG YOU NOT TO WORK WITH LOWES!!! I am a landlord and I operate a rental unit at Washington DC. On 6/23/2020 my tenant reported that the fridge in the unit is broken. On the same day, I ordered a fridge from Lowes. I was told at the time of the purchase that the fridge would be delivered on 6/29/2020. I was told that it should take 6 days. Ok, this would solve problems. I move forward with the order. The only reason I made this purchase through Lowe's is, they can deliver the fridge on 6/29/2020. Then within a short period of time, another email arrives and claims the fridge will arrive on 7/2/2020. My tenant is furious, screaming at me, rightfully complaining that all his food is rotting. He can't eat anything at home. Because of COVID-19, he can't eat outside. He is living in unacceptable conditions. Then surprise surprise, Lowes is at work. Another email arrives, the fridge is scheduled for delivery on 7/7/2020. A day before delivery I receive an email from Spirit, the extremely incompetent company, for final confirmation and I confirm the delivery. It is 7/7/2020. The supposed delivery day. Lowes is supposed to deliver the fridge. NOBODY AROUND! NO CALLS. NO ONE BOTHERS TO LET ME KNOW WHY THIS DELIVERY DID NOT GO THROUGH. MY TENANT CALLS AT THE END OF THE DAY AND SCREAMS AT ME, I AM DONE WITH YOU. I CANNOT BLAME HIM. HE IS THREATENING ME WITH A LAWSUIT NOW!!!! Naturally, I call Sprit, the delivery firm Lowes works. They first claim it was not in the truck on 7/7/202. Someone at Spirit assures me that it will be taken care of ASAP. Spirit tells me that they will send an email to Lowes. I call Lowes at Washington DC. The store in Washington DC does not even take any phones. The next day, all day no news. As if I never purchased a fridge. I paid for all services and after getting my money, Lowes decided to disappear. They decided to forget about it. They got the money, but they don't bother with delivering the fridge. So I need to fix Lowes' issues, since Lowes does not care. Here we go again. Lowes customer service calls. Nothing. They say call Spirit. So I call Spirit again. They now started to claim someone called with your number and canceled the order. The story changed. No one uses my phone except me. And I did not cancel any order. This is a total lie. I call Lowes again, I ask to talk with a supervisor. I am being told that I should file a claim in a written format. Then it should take 24 hours for the "Big Lowes' help...". This is not a good option when the tenant is in full-blown anger. I did everything right but apparently I am working with the wrong firm, that does not even care. I call Spirit. Now they know my number and they are willingly do not open it. Just to prove their unwillingness to take calls from my number, I get a new Google Voice number, and then I call Spirit again. When they see a different number they take the call. Now they are saying you canceled it. No one canceled any orders. I am asking for a person who knows what he/she is doing. No one cares. They say it's not possible. On 7/9/2020 I call Spirit, ask to talk with their manager. They say the manager is gonna call you. But no calls. Then I call Lowes. I want to file a complaint. The first phone number they gave me looks like this: 1 374 327 73782. Something is wrong, this is not a US phone number. I ask the customer service person to check the number and tell me a real number. I get 1 347 7382. And then I call that number to file a complaint, that number does not even work. LOWES HAS A VERY SAD AND BAD STYLE. In the duration of this terrible experience, I had to call both Lowe's and Spirit a total of 20-25 times. No one wants to help. NO ONE DESERVES THIS ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE THE LANDLORD AND OBLIGATED TO SOLVE YOUR TENANTS ISSUES ASAP. THIS WHOLE THING DESTROYED MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY TENANT. I'm not sure about the negative reviews here because I've been remodeling my house and they have been fantastic. Over the last month I've been here probably 20 times, and they've been very helpful, polite, and attentive. I went to the Home Depot down the street and their service was awful, not to mention their prices were higher. I did about 80% of my shopping with Lowes. They even installed our carpeting at a great price too. This Lowes has a great selection, their prices are the lowest we found (plus 12 months same as cash financing). You will be calling them and good luck if anyone responds, they all bounce accountability to each other. My fence was installed by a 3rd party vendor that Lowes hires, the job was poorly done. They destroyed my lawn and gutters and NO one ever compensated us for it after TONS of emails and complaints to their, now other 3rd party, production department. If you call the store including the sales manager he will tell you to contact the "production department". This department does not respond, their managers do not respond. To this day, the fence was poorly done (after they came a second time) and my lawn and gutters are still destroyed with zero reinstitution. Also, not to mention that the estimate was poorly done by the Lowes fence department. The day the third party contractor came to do the fence they basically said that if it wasn't written in the paper they were NOT doing it. After we specifically told the Lowes guy what we needed. To make it even better, the material needed was not sent and the contractor put the fence where he felt like it vs. where it needs to go using what he had. It took months before they came back to do the mediocre fix. I was too tired of arguing with all three parties so I just ended up settling. The agent who I texted with was obviously from a country that does not have access to the actual product, but instead is looking up the incorrect information from their own website.
