Crack in fiberglass shower pan and drain.
    Craig S.

A couple weeks ago we noticed a crack in our fiberglass shower pan. See the 2 inch (smallish) crack to the right of the original (old) shower drain/cover. When we took the cover off the shower drain we noticed that the round rubber seal was rotting/cracked and that the shower drain sealing nut (that tightens over the seal) was completely missing. For a few weeks we casually looked on-line to find a new Qatey seal and the sealing nut without any luck (while we used our other shower). Yesterday, we stopped by Lowes (Folsom, CA) and ask the one of the attendants if there was a person that could help us with a plumbing (shower drain) repair. They immediately called Michael. Michael found us and took us to the area with multiple shower drains, fittings, seals, etc. After a couple minutes of looking, Michael found the perfect match for our old Qatey drain which contained the exact seal and sealing nut we needed. Wonderful. While we had to purchase the whole drain assembly (only $14) it contained everything we needed. Today, I installed the new seal and sealing nut, using the silicon lubricant that Michael recommended ($5), and all fit perfectly. THANK YOU Michael for your great assistance in finding the correct parts for us. Now, onto getting the fiberglass pan repaired ($1500) rather than having to replace the entire shower, pan, tiles, glass enclosure, etc ($7500). Thanks Michael for your great assistance!!!

Welp, it's time to review the big box store, Lowes! I have to say it always provides exactly what I need when I need it. As opposed to its rival, that other big box place down the road and across the street, which always leaves me frustrated and promising myself I will never return. Local shoppers know which store I am talking about:). Maybe it is the great lighting, but everything seems bright and cheery whenever I enter. Now... who thought Lowes could be described like that:). I find it clean, orderly, and easy to find that elusive item I am there to locate. It is always a great last resort. Unlike Home Depot (there...I said it:), customer service is helpful and plentiful. No searching from one end of the huge store to the other looking for assistance. And once I do find someone, he/she is always pleasant and knowledgeable. They actually seem happy to be there. All in all, is it always my first choice of store when I am looking for something of the DIY category? Maybe not. But when I am out of options, it is the first big box department store I think of. When I was unable to locate begonias late in the season recently... Lowe's had them. Woohoo! Their garden center is well maintained, and the many plants are always good-looking and healthy. And quite frankly at a much more reasonable price than some of the smaller nurseries. I understand that a 10% discount is offered to military- affiliated customers. Nice gesture Lowes! So, a shout out to all the hard-working employees who are always so helpful. And thank you, Lowes, for keeping a well stocked inventory. Cheers!

Bone Collector was $399, I bought it for $160 as a floor model.

Last Christmas, I came looking for something special for my newest granddaughter. I found the cutest purple sloth and a sweet book called Good Night, Sloth. Unfortunately, my granddaughter loved her purple sloth a little too much and managed to mess it up! So, when I came back to Folsom, I knew I had to look for another purple sloth. They are so popular that the purple sloth is currently on backorder, but I found this big, super-soft sloth instead. It's actually an upgrade and will be perfect for her! My other daughter is expecting her first baby--a little boy! So, of course, we had to do some baby shopping. We found some adorable finger-puppet books and a Warmies dinosaur. So many cute things! But this store offers so much more than baby items. You can find things for your kitchen, bedroom, dining room, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and so much more. There are unique gifts everywhere you look. I absolutely love browsing here! I only wish I lived a little closer. I live in Nevada, but whenever I come to California to visit my daughter, we're definitely going to make a day trip to Folsom. It's so close to her, and this store is always worth the trip. The people here are awesome, too! They even offered us some homemade cinnamon rolls, and they were AMAZING! The prices are very reasonable, and they also offer a military discount, which is a wonderful bonus. If you're in Folsom, California, make sure you stop by Not Too Shabby on Sutter Street. You won't be disappointed! This is definitely a place to shop when you're looking for something unique, fun, and special. I can't wait to come back!

I wasn't needing any "new to me" furniture, decor, or jewelry. But you know how that goes. This place is large in square footage. Stocked with gently previously owned furniture, home decor, and jewelry. The furniture quality is outstanding. The kinds of pieces solidly made not shoddy. The styles range from mid century, cherry wood Asian themed, modern farmhouse, and contemporary. So many styles. The pieces are staged in showroom type setting making everything eye catching, so much so I caught myself mentally doing a home makeup over in my mind. Hubs even found a framed lithograph art print of 1984 Laker Kareem Abdul Jabar by LeRoy Neiman. Then I happened upon the jewelry section. Letting out a big sigh, I luv looking at jewelry. They have beautiful pieces and some high end brands such as Rolex and Piguet watches, Tiffany. My eye was drawn to the vintage art deco jewelry set (necklace, bracelet, and earrings) of gold and lapis. Very unique. All the jewelry looked to be in excellent condition. The woman working the counter had a great attitude, so fun and easy to talk with. She entertained my gawking and questions. Not pushy in pressing a sale. Plus she was knowledgeable.

Things are well organized and in great condition. So many items from indoor/outdoor furniture, artificial plants, couch pillows, mirrors, framed art, and seasonal decor (see Mrs. Clause:)). There is also a Fine Jewelery section which you typically do not find at a busines like this. Setup like a department store... you may view the jewelry items under glass. Value? Well, the things I am typically looking for are artificial plants like a cactus for my patio or for an indoor area I am trying to refresh. They are extremely reasonable as opposed to Target or Home Goods. From reading the reviews, customers have found some nice items. Next time you are cruising through the TJ's parking lot and have some time on your hands consider a walk through this fun and interesting store. Who knows... you may find your very own special treasure! Happy shopping.
