Special COVID-19 Review: I just moved to the area, and this means, despite the pandemic, I need stuff. Like plumbing things and all the little bits that go with plumbing things. I'm not even looking at electrical wall plates or even new locks, though I need those too but trying to stick to the essential essentials (food, water, indoor plumbing). This Lowe's is open at 8am every day as of this review--be sure to call and check before you go, they have it as the first thing it tells you when you call the local number. I don't know what time they close because I just try to go do all my errands early and get home. During the shutdown, customers can enter the store but through the Lumber entrance only, so park on that side if you need to go in. And if there are more than the allotted people, you have to wait in a line to get in (go early and it's not a problem, wait until 11 or noon and you may have a sizable line to deal with). Pretty much everyone is wearing masks but only about half the people are wearing gloves, so wash your hands and sanitize your purchases when you get home. At the main entrance is where they are doing the online purchase pick-ups. It takes a while, but you pull up and someone will run out and get your order number. I had mine written on a post-it note for them and they just ran it it so this is what I will continue to do as it was easier than having to show them my phone and have them write it down. These employees are wearing masks, so you should too, since they are coming in very close contact with you. They bring your item out and you still have to sign for it holding their pen and clipboard :-/ so be cautious there. It is taking them a while to fulfill those online orders, so probably best to put in what you need the afternoon before, then hopefully they fill it before they close and then you can just run and grab it in the morning. They have had pretty much everything I have needed (or thought I needed) in the several times I have had to go this week--it's not a real project unless you go to the store at least three times and want to cry after you get home the third time and the thing is still not working and then you realize the thing you're trying to fix is not the thing that's broken. Ah, the joys of home-ownership! I will add, all the employees are very nice and helpful even in this trying time. And this is the closest Lowe's if you live in Detroit proper and relatively easy to get to off the 94. read more

I have used this Lowe's the last few years and going here to pick up paint or other items for my home renovation is always a pleasure. The staff is incredibly helpful and funny and kind. I got a couple dozen gallons of paint recently and Zina and the others were super great helping me get the colors sorted out. Thank you!! read more

Terrible customer service! My partner and I stopped by here for items to install a French drain and this was our experience. Keep in mind my partners a supervisor at Costco so we're very respectful and pretty laid back with service workers when we go into other retailers. 1st employee we encountered scoffed at us for asking where we could find French drain materials and stated "well it's probably in plumbing." Just a bad vibe from him from the start. We ended up finding most of what we needed in the landscaping area on our own. He was working in landscaping mind you. 2nd employee in hardware gave us attitude for asking her if she knew where some clamps were. Apparently we were interrupting her texting session as she was on her phone. She claimed they didn't sell what we were looking for (keep in mind I had found it but it was connected to another part that we didn't need). We ended up finding what she claimed they did not sell on its own in aisle 17 on our own after about 20 mins of just going up and down each aisle that made some sense. Then the cashier in the nursery/landscaping checkout gave us attitude because 3 of the items were missing barcodes (1 was bent so it wouldn't scan) as if we purposely picked the ones without scans. She became even more irritable when her calls for assistance from Im assuming a manager went unanswered and told us we would need to pay for our things inside. When I told her I'd take the 3 items inside but wanted pay for the rest that she already rang up (we were hauling 2 10 foot drain pipes and wasn't about to take it again all the way across the store when I've had already been back and forth twice) she huffed and got a smartass attitude about it. I don't know who's running the place and we didn't bother to try and talk with management because we were there for about an hour and half already and just wanted to get the hell out at that point! 4 people were waiting in line, while 1 person was working the register & there were 4 staff in the area behind the counter. Even if it wasn't everyone's assignment to work in that area, someone could've stepped up or called for assistance. Where's the manager? This is not the first time I've had this experience here. It's frustrating to see help available, but not assisting when there's a line. Please do something about this. read more

I normally like this Lowe's but had a bad experience. I was shopping for a 2 stage snow blower and liked the Toro. I'm 79 years old and figured I needed an upgrade from my current single stage blower. These display models are chained together so I couldn't move it. The sales person in this department was busy on the computer, looked at me occasionally but didn't approach to offer assistance. I finally walked over to her. She didn't offer any knowledge of the Toro and added that my veteran discount didn't apply on snow blowers. I went to the service desk and a helpful woman spent substantial time ordering the Toro for me with the veterans discount! The snow blower arrived on time but I quickly learned it didn't turn by design (?). Unfortunately I put gas in it and a call to Lowe's revealed that it is not returnable after only one day of ownership. I tried to appeal to the store manager but was willing to accept a negative response. I called to the service desk twice and asked to speak to the store manager. Both times I was assured I would get a callback. Either the manager was not given the message or decided I didn't warrant a callback. Either way, this does not speak well of this store. read more

I ordered a refrigerator. The salesman was great. The delivery and communication was terrible. There fore a 3. My delivery was scheduled between 8-12. The driver called and said that they would be here in 1/2 an hour. No-one came so I began to try to track this down. I called the driver back who said that the truck was too big so that the refrigerator went back to the warehouse and would need a smaller truck. He said the dispatcher was suppose to notify me. I called Lowes but noone in Appliance picked up. I hot a manager and he gave me the contact info for the warehouse. They rescheduled me for a few days later. I agreed to 8-12 . I get a call to say they are running late and it will be first thing after lunch. Well it is almost 3 . I understand the truck problem but I resent not being informed and had to spend additional time tracking it down. The reschedule is also annoying . Heads up guess what. They brought the big truck again so can not deliver. Next I received a voice mail from the warehouse. They said that the only option I would have for delivery was to get a pick up truck that would go down the one block to the major criss street. The Lowes delivery truck could then meet the pickup truck and load it into the pick up truck for the block to my house. Needless to say. I canceled my order and went to a local appliance store to buy a much needed refrigerator read more

My husband found a door busters deal online & we travel so we stopped by THIS location & first they had security follow us around, then the employee followed us to customer service, then we decided to go to self checkout because he grabbed the wrong package item, they ladies at the registers waited till AFTER HE PAID to take his items and receipt which could have told her what she "Needed to confirm" she had to ring up his items to "confirm" he wasn't scamming, WASTED our time & made my husband very uncomfortable because he's not confrontational AT ALL. They discriminated him because of how he looks & service like that is unacceptable & unprofessional. Never have this issue at Home Depot or any other stores, very prejudice ladies in there. Disappointed. All that embarrassment and the drill seems to not even work or be strong enough for labor. Sad. read more

I bought a Craftsman riding mower online on July 20. The order was fulfilled through this store. I finally received the mower on August 2nd. Mower didn't last a week before the lawn deck engagement belt snapped in two on August 8th. After having a rude conversation with an associate trying to say I didn't have a warranty (I did) they then told me to bring in the defective lawn mower to their store. That wasn't an option. They then transferred me to customer service who told me they didn't have time for this before hanging up on me. 12 calls to customer service call center to get the store to comply, they finally agreed to exchange the mower. They picked up the defective lawnmower and lo and behold they didn't have another in stock. I called the store, actually spoke to someone who told me they would look at nearby stores and call me back. That was on Monday. I called the store today and was hung up on again. Back to calling customer service. A simple exchange of a defective lawnmower should not be this complicated. read more

The 8 mile store is my go to for anything home repair and garden related. The store may be smaller than the newer ones but it is always well stocked and spotless. Did I mention how helpful and courteous the staff is? They are easy to find, knowledgeable and will help assist loading heavy items in my car. I've purchased washer dryer,stove,riding lawnmower, best place for in door out door plants. but most important the sales staff clientele. the remember you and if you want something in particular ask for sales specialis. They will get it and call you back and at an excellent price. that how i got my fridge and riding tractor lawnmower. i was so inspired i wrote the ceo and store manager a letter. it wash like shopping in BH, CA and i did live and shop there. The absolute worst, slowest, most Unknowledgeable staff and customer service I've ever experienced.

The 1 star is for service. I contacted Lowe's for an estimate on the installation of a bathroom window. I finally received an acceptable price and I contracted for the window. Lowe's calls to set appointment for aother gentleman to come out and take measurements and the project is underway. (I missed the calls because no one left a message)..we get that straightened out. It was explained that Lowe's would receive the window and contact me for delivery, then a day or so later I would be contacted for installation. Of course, they received my payment. Weeelll! I received a text message that the delivery driver was about 30 minutes out. (NO I DIDN'T RECEIVE ADVANCE NOTICE...I GUESS THIS WAS IT) NOW it has been 1 week and I have called Lowe's and spoke to Barry a very nice gentleman who helped a lot and left a message for my contact who still hasn't gotten back to me. I am now waiting for a response to my email message. I can take a refund of the balance and I will stay out of Lowe's since they treated me horribly when my home was broken into in 2015, a tiger never changes it's stripes. Ordered using online service. Paid for items with a gift card. Lowe's online accepted order showing items in stock. Went to pick up after waiting four days and never receiving a call or text for an update . They were missing two items and could not complete my order yet they won't refund my money at the store so I could purchase different items. They told me I would have to wait 5 days for a gift card to show up in the mail with a refund. Staffing was rude and clueless. No one takes ownership to make a decision. read more

They ban gays, have poor service to the top of the corporation. as a gay couple we bought many items there every time people to busy on cell phone , or just not wanting to help. delivery's we got were always missing items once they double delivered when this was complained about we were told this store was not for us then when the district supervisor was repotted for what he said. they ban us from all stores. good riddance to this bigotry chain. some stores have good help but this one for sure has real issues and all staff play buddies with management all the way to vice president of the company. we spent over 100k in that store will not drop another dime in there or waste our time with this retail chain. this store was in harper woods Michigan. we own the allied post i will be personally running a full page article on this store and there behavior. read more

Dan who worked in the department went above and beyond out of his way to help me get a great deal on a better set then I was looking at and found me a great deal on a mower as well. He was great. We bought a gazebo at the Lowe's in Windsor, Ontario and we live in Harper Woods Michigan. After putting the gazebo up we knew we hated it. It was cheaply made, already rusty right out of the box and it looked awful. We called the Harper Woods Lowe's to see if we could return it there instead of crossing the border again. The customer service lady was very friendly and told us it was no problem to return it there. We returned the shoddy gazebo, got store credit and bought an awesome pergola instead. Dave in the Seasonal dept. was very helpful and they helped us load up the 300 lb pergola! I like this Lowe's. Everyone is very helpful. read more

I ordered a snowblower which was not in stock at the time. I was told by the salesperson that it would be in the following week. I called back about 7 days later and the person who answered the telephone told me that they will call me when it comes in. He was very rude. After a few seconds, the phone hangs up. I call right back and ask for the manager. The manager takes my information and transfer me to a very nice young lady, by the name of Tiera Tate who located my information in the computer and informed me that my snowblower has arrived and will be assembled and ready for pick up tomorrow. This young lady acted very professional and seemed to care about the customer. I am a frequent user of this Lowes and they almost lost a customer. I can now have a Great Christmas. read more

Wife and I ordered new entry and storm doors in August, 2014. The installer came out to measure. Doors installed 10/14. The only problem was that he installed the wrong front door. We had to leave it up because he already removed all of the previous door, frame, everything. They said it was the manufacturer's fault and that the door would be ready in November. Wasn't ready in November. Said it would be December. Wasn't in December. Finally, they called and said that the manufacturer didn't have the door anymore and that we should come in and order new doors. They fired the previous installer and sent a new installer to measure. The new installer (Chesterfield Construction) said that the previous doors were too big and were completely wrong. So, we had to go order SIX NEW DOORS! Fast-forward to March: all six doors came in. Two of the doors were incorrect. Needless to say, I was livid at this point. I called the Corporate Customer Service number and a very nice lady took down my complaints. The next day, Kevin, the manager at Lowe's, called to say that we would be refunded the complete purchase price, plus labor, for our troubles. The reason I gave this Lowe's four stars is that most of the problems we encountered were in the supply chain. They fired the contractor who initially installed too big of doors in our house. Plus, they were very gracious and refunded us our money. Juanita, the Assistant Manager, was extremely nice and supportive throughout the process. We were out shopping for a stand up freezer and Lowe's had some great deals. So on August 26th we bought a freezer. We were told they were out of stock but should get some in on the 28th if not definitely on September 4th and we will deliver on the 5th. I told them my freezer is on its last leg but I should worst case make it to the 5th. I tell him keep me filled in and it has to be delivered after 12 noon. He said no problem. So my freezer doesn't come on the 28th and my old one dies on August 1st. So I figure I can make it a few days and put all my meat on ice. On Tuesday September 5th , I haven't heard anything yet and it's 6pm. So I call Lowe's to see whats going on. They said my freezer won't be in now until the following week. I told them that they didn't even notify me and I can't go that long without a freezer. I was told that's the best they could do. I asked to speak to a manager and was disconnected 5 times before I spoke with one. That manager tells me he will see if he can get one from another store and deliver it on Thursday. He said he would call me and let me know. Wednesday at 4 o'clock I call Lowe's to get an update. Not only do I get disconnected 4 times but I am now talking with a new manager who has no idea what I am talking about. So I explain the long story to him and he tells me "I will call the other manager at home and find out what happen and call you back". I go to bed a 8 with no phone call and my meat still sitting on ice. When I get up for work on Thursday at 1:30 am there is a voicemail on my phone , it was left at 9pm it said it will deliver Thursday between 8am and 10 am. I originally told them when I bought it that I need an afternoon delivery. I start work at 2am but am home by 11am. So I wait until 7am when the guys show up to load the trucks and speak to the dispatcher about moving my time . I tell him I can't be home at 8am because I was at work when I get your delivery voicemail. I asked if he could push it until after 10:30? His reply. "Sure no problem , I will let the driver know" so I rush on my job to make sure I get home in time. At 9:30 am I am called by the same man I spoke to at 7am. He tells me that he has to deliver on Friday because the driver won't pull his route out of order. It's not like I was asking for the world. They called me last minute and I needed an extra hour and he said no problem. I asked is my freezer on the truck he said no . I asked why he didn't call me when found out that it would be a bit later, because I would of had my neighbor accept it. He said he is to busy in the morning to call people back. I explained my story to him and said "I need my damn freezer " he said stop swearing at me and we will send it tomorrow. I said connect me with your manager. Again I was disconnected. Since I was driving and couldn't talk I had my wife call to see why I can't get my freezer. At 11am she was told by the third manager that when the delivery truck came back at 2pm they would send my Freezer. I live 1/8th of a mile from the store. At 3pm I call to see where my freezer is. You guessed it, I get disconnected 3 times! So I get I in my car and go to Lowe's and talk to the third manager and tell him my story and told him I'm not leaving without my freezer. So I sat for 20 minutes and he comes to me and tells me he is putting it in a pickup truck and bringing it to me. 30 minutes later I had my freezer. It was great to save 200$ on a freezer but the customer service at this location is horrible. I will make the longer drive and go to another location read more
