Shitty self check out service. I shopped the store, found my items and waiting in self check out. The older long gray hair "worker" at check self check out told me I had to get out of line go back to lumber department and find the price on the piece of wood I was purchasing. Said she could not help me and I had to go figure it out. Also suggested it was not an item sold at the store and that it was a piece that had been cut off from a different piece of wood. My elderly parents were in urgent need of a water heater as the one they had started leaking progressively creating a flood. And so needed to be replaced. I rushed to the store and asked them to assist me with a purchase of a new one. I purchased a tankless water heater from their flooring area. They would not assist me by the way. I ended up doing my research and revisited for that purchase. The purchase was made in the flooring area, which apparently is where I am supposed to receive assistance with special orders. I specifically informed the individual that assisted me, this Will guy, that my elderly parents are in urgent need of the water heater as they have no hot water. He affirmed that it will be shipped from DC and it only takes 7-10 days. On the receipt, it stated a month later. So I pointed this out to him. Will again affirmed that it will arrive within 7-10 days. It is shipped from DC [Distributed Center] he said. Almost 10 days passed the purchasing day and there is no water heater. I go to the store to inquire about the water heater. I am told that the receipt said a month from the day of purchase. So I repeated what Will told me, at least twice. And the customer service agent tells me that she can cancel it :( Another agent comes and is a bit more helpful, she states that she will talk to the individual that sold me the water heater and get back to me the very next day. But she did not. Two days passed and I was not contacted. I go to the store again today, and the flooring area tells me again the receipt says a month from the day of purchase. Like I have no eyes or cannot read! So I go explaining the same thing that this guy Will said to me that it will be 7-10 days..... So the guy tells me that maybe Will assumed that they have one ready in the DC and that is what his statement was based on. So I tell him that he should have checked. And I ask that he, the agent too, instead of telling me random things it would be helpful if he checked with their DC. So he does exactly that and then he tells me that the DC says about 20 days from today. Which puts me exactly on the same delivery date as reciept... about 1 month from day of purchase I asked the flooring guy that was helping me to assist me with placing a complaint against the person that misinformed me so without care and empathy towards my elderly parents and the fact that they are without hot water. And so I am told to go to customers service for that. Which is where I go and wait for a long time. Then the agent at customer service tells me the same thing about 30 days... so I repeat the story again. And I explain that I am here to place a complaint. And I need to see a manager for that. She calls the manager and after a long wait, she says that the manager is busy! And she gives me the option to either hang around some more or she will have that person (manager) call me. It is hours passed this morning, and I have no call yet. I doubt that a manger, or anyone calls me from that store regarding this complaint at all. I am baffled as to the kind of ethics and social responsibility they are accustomed to!! This is irresponsible and far from any kind of empathy and value. I specifically stated that this was for my elderly parents. And I was sold an item with false promises. And the store is so ignorant in even addressing the concern. read more

NEVER Again... The WORST! Nothing is more frustrating, aggravating and infuriating than to have a business waste your time. When I was looking for a front door to be replaced, I thought I would give Lowe's a shot as they seemed to have a lot to choose from. I went in to the store, looked around and spoke with a sales person. They suggested I have one of their 'field' sales ppl come out and measure the door frame and discuss options. Great. I spent about an hour picking out a door that was crazy-expensive, but i needed a new door and I guess that's what a good door costs. I was given another appointment for an 'official' measuring person to come out and measure again. They were late and there was some confusion about my appointment, but it was only another hour out of a different day. I paid for the entire door up front as required - installation, the door and a bunch of random fees put it at over $4k(!). I was told the door I choose was from a great vendor and had a lot of positive smoke blown up my back door. I emailed my Lowe's sales person several times and told I was going to have to wait 7-8 WEEKS for the door. Not thrilled, but maybe that's how long they take? Cut to today, approx 6 weeks that I've been waiting, I want to know what day I'll get my door. Apparently my sales guy is no longer with Lowe's... and they can't find my door. They call and check with the door company and they have NO record of my order. This is basically the last thing on my renovation list and I'm sorry, what? Turns out the DAY AFTER I paid for the door, the sales guy was sent an email saying the door was discontinued. Either he never checks his email or perhaps that's why he no longer works there. William Ritz, the ex-Lowes sale guy, just didn't care enough to check. Meanwhile, I've been WAITING FOR 6 WEEKS for my f-Ing door!! WTF Lowes!? Is no manager overseeing these guys!! I got a call at the end of the day apologizing and saying a manager was told, but I guess the manager didn't have the balls or time to call me themselves. SIX WEEKS I've been waiting and now I have to start the process all over again!!! You suck Lowes and I will NEVER spend money at your store again. You don't care enough to oversee your sales people selling $4,400 doors and they aren't showing ANY kind of interest in following through for their customers. The new return policy is so restrictive they can't make good business decisions. I've bought from the SC Lowe's from the first day it opened and spent in the ten's of thousands of dollars. When I needed to return some small copper plumbing fitting at less then $20 they said no because they were over just over 90 day old. These are in the original package in new condition with the bar codes on them. I explained I can't use them since the project was cancelled as I replumbed the entire home to PEX. REALLY, after all the years as a loyal customer they can't restock a few items that I can't use!! That coupled with poor inventory control on small items....I'm done. Home depot seems to want my biz so I'll drive the few extra miles....next project is over 2k....when does $20 cost more than 2k...when you don't let your people make good decisions!! read more

The service of both the manager and most ( but not all) of the staff is about as bad as you can find in San Clemente. I highly recommend driving a few more minutes and going to Home Depot were both service and selection is superior to Lowe's. For those who are uninformed, Lowe's has closed 2 locations in Orange County, CA and over 50 nationwide in the last few months in a feeble attempt to become more competitive with Home Depot. It appears to be a losing battle if you look at the valuations of both corporations.Whereas Home Depot respects the customer and provides quality service; Lowe's employees have an indifferent attitude toward the customer. To start off there was an older female employee that was about to get off work and you could tell. Then knowing we were there first to get something cut they cut something for someone else and we waited 40 minutes for turf. Continuing to the worst part of the experience is a register employee that seemed unable to comprehend numbers. Why would you place someone at a register if they can't handle numbers. Not to mention sending a customer to verify a price. What kind of business does that?? Everything to this point I could have moved past... but in order to get a military discount you need to show paperwork that is quite difficult to get for active duty. Don't guarantee military discount when the person can NOT just show their military ID WHICH HAS THEIR NAME AND FACE ON IT... but no that is not enough. Place still sucks I don't know why I gave them another chance no bags at the register or self check out for months, each register has wide painters tape all over them With several messages so unprofessional everyone in there looks do miserable and unfriendly. The only time they perk up is an hour before closing time so they can make announcements every 10 minutes that they will be closing soon. There is no sign telling where the restrooms are and when we made it there they were sooo dirty. You would think in 2022, that big box hardware stores would have a sophisticated inventory management system. Based on what's sold and what is in their inventory, they would order new products so they don't run out. This store obviously doesn't have that or the resources to find and replace items out of stock. Case in point, finding a1/2 X 2 inch nipple for a sprinkler head. Easy enough, right? Not at Lowes. This isn't a one day out of stock problem. This is a one week out of stock problem with ALL 1/2 inch nipples for sprinkler head out of stock. A completely empty shelf for at least a week. I was frustrated a week ago. Now I take my business to Home Depot. What a surprise! They have 1/2 inch nipples for sprinkler heads in stock. I will no longer shop at Lowes. If they can't get the simple things right, they don't deserve to be in business. They serve no useful purpose if they can't provide every day products. read more

I needed a new washing machine asap. Two of the salespeople spent about an hour and a half helping me find the perfect one that would fit in the small area in my home. They found me one that was the right size and color and most importantly it was in stock in their warehouse. It was delivered the very next morning. They were so patient and so nice to work with. I moved to this area about a year ago and due to business and a lot of home purchases I tend to frequent both Lowe's and Home Depot. I must say, of the dozen or so times I've visited this store, at least half of the time I've been disappointed in their overall service. I asked to have a single sheet of plywood cut in two unequal lengths and was told they couldn't do it because it was to a specific measurement (not some finite .00...measurement, just not half the overall length). Home Depot had zero issue doing it 30 mins later. Today, I couldn't remember where I had purchased my shop vac, but it just stopped working. I bought it about 5 months ago. Curious, I called Home Depot, who said if it was within 6 months they'd happily refund my money and if it was a little over, they'd give me store credit. When I looked it up, it turns out I bought it at Lowe's. So I called Lowe's with the same question...90 days, no exceptions, wouldn't even look up the item. She asked when I bought the item, when I said "I think September..." she quickly replied, "Well that's past 90 days, nothing we can do without the extended warranty, thanks for calling Lowe's." I used to work for Lowe's, not this store, but one in San Diego County. Left on good terms, but it seems either this store or this company has abandoned their interest in being the better big home improvement store. Home Depot is a bit further of a drive from this location, but so worth it! My recommendation is to take your business elsewhere, not because I can't return my item, because their service is garbage, because the guy who said he couldn't cut the plywood to the measurement I asked for explained he could cut it in half or sell me a saw...because this store has repeatedly caused me to have the solution found at Home Depot when the solution was simple and too much to ask. Looks like we will personally and professionally shop at Home Depot exclusively from now on. read more
