I originally sent a text requesting a repair on my ice maker for my Whirlpool Refrigerator ( I gave them the Model and Serial number in the text) to Johnnie's appliances and received a response to call and set up an appointment. I did on Monday 8/17/26, I was informed the service charge would be $110.00 and needed to be paid to confirm the appointment (9am to 1pm window on Saturday 8/22/26). Also was told the service tech would call 30 minutes before arriving. At 1pm no call or show. I called them at 1:15 and was told they did not have an appointment for me or my address, asked when I made the appointment, I told her it was made on Monday 8/17/26. The women said well our system has been down since Wednesday, but we can reschedule for next Monday. I told her that was unacceptable that I will on vacation for the next 3 weeks. I told her I already paid for the service call and even gave her the bank info., and she seemed to have found the charge. Was put on hold and she came back telling me a service tech would be out between 6 and 7pm today 8/22/26. I would receive a call from the tech 30 minutes prior to coming. I called at 6:30 and they were closed. GUESS WHAT! AGAIN a NO SHOW and NO CALL. They have my money (for now, I filed a dispute with my credit card), thank GOD I didn't put it on my Debit card. I'd be out the $110.00 for NO SERVICE and RUDE customer service personnel. I understand computers go down, but really a small company like them and they don't even keep paperwork (like service order tickets on paper). I work for a multinational corporation and even we keep service orders on paper and on the computer for just this reason. When their system went down, the first thing they should have done was look online at their banking history and see who had service charges paid, It would give them the names of WHO paid and then they could have done a call back (most names have phone numbers listed for them) to see when their appointments were for. INSTEAD they called NO ONE to see if appointments were scheduled. I know that is a lot of work, but to keep your business running without angering your clients, that's what a dependable company would do. Better yet don't COMPLETELY rely on computers or the internet, keep a service order/appointment list IN PAPER. SMH what is this world coming too, such lazy people and companies. It all falls back on the person needing the services. Before closing for the day, you should have reached out to make sure your service techs were going to be able to get to appointments for the day, ESPECIALLY since you knew there was issues with appointments. Now I'll be worrying about my refrigerator, it is just the ice maker or is it something bigger while I'm on a very needed vacation. We are preparing our home to move, after 23+ glorious years here in the only home our children have ever known, and I needed to replace my uniquely sized wall oven and built-in cooktop range, centered on a granite island. Due to the unusual size of my wall oven (24" W X 42" H, comparable to the wall unit that witty housekeeper ALICE employed on "The Brady Bunch"), my options were extremely limited and insanely expensive. To wit, the extortionate profiteers at Worst, um, Best Buy wanted $4,500 just for the wall unit!! I tried a half dozen Mom & Pop type appliance stores and mercifully ran across JOHNNY'S APPLIANCES in Downey. Salesperson Adriana was razor sharp, expertly able to decipher the alpha-numeric model # from my old Frigidaire unit even though the photo was snapped showing the # in upside down, reverse format! With Adriana's assistance, I was able to replace both the bizarrely sized wall unit and the cooktop range for $1,727 incl delivery and taxes. That computes to ONE-THIRD the cost of what the jabronies at Worst Buy wanted to sucker me outtve, solely for the wall unit!! Upon delivery, our driver DANNY truly distinguished himself. Across 27yrs of purchasing major appliances and TVs and what not, Danny was by far the nicest and most professional of any driver/installer we've EVER encountered! He waited patiently when it took me five minutes to schlep downstairs after I slept thru my alarm (hey, your favorite Yelp Correspondent is nothing if not honest to a fault!), then patiently waded through our island of packed boxes (recall, we are prepping to move) and even delivered my new units into my living room. Even though I was told when I placed my order that the drivers can only drop your appliances off at the curb. Through it all, Danny was warm, friendly and a consummate pro- What a glorious ambassador for Johnny's Appliances!! Johnny's sells a full array of kitchen appliances and even has a sleep center onsite. I enthusiastically endorse them. Pro tip- When you call Johnny's you'll receive a recording encouraging you to TEXT MESSAGE them and they'll retitled your call- certainly an unusual methodology. I would've deducted a point off my review for the challenges this set up entailed ... but driver Danny's extraordinary service saved the day and bumped my review back up to a sterling five! read more

Our experience with Johnnie's was the stuff of nightmares. We hired them to fix our dishwasher back in November. A tech came out a week later because they overbook their service team so much that even getting on the schedule is a hassle. The tech said a part was broken and had to be replaced. The part was $500+. Ouch. But fine. Do it. Part was ordered. Took a week to come in. Then they called to schedule the repair. Another week before they could come back. Ugh. The tech comes back puts in the new expensive part. Says we need another part that he didn't notice the first time he was out. At this point I am realizing the tech was clearly a novice and really didn't know what he was doing. Was watching YouTube videos to figure out what to do. He left in a rush, left the dishwasher disconnected from the water and the water turned off. When we turned it back on, under our sink flooded because he hadn't connected the tube back to the dishwasher. We persist. The part is ordered. Another week. On the schedule for the following week. Tech is so late that it's approaching bedtime with my kids so I cancel. And hire a different company. Worst experience ever. Excruciating. I feel scammed. Come to find out he left us much worst off than we were before. During the repair, the tech broke the tension spring strap so the door was slamming when opened. Somehow the seal to the zeo lite container was missing. Think he probably forgot to put it back and left with it. He messed with the control panel and left the cover off. Now the machine won't turn on. I am beyond angry with Johnnie's. I will be telling everyone I know to stay as far away from them as possible if the care about their money, time and sanity. Extremely slow delivery/installation, illegal call recording, and terrible customer service are the reasons for my 1-star review of Johnnies Appliances. I had a warranty replacement refrigerator from Maytag that was being fulfilled by Johnnies Appliances. I had a delivery & installation scheduled between 9am and 1pm on August 29th. The delivery arrived at 12:20, and over an hour later at 1:25 I had to ask them to leave to pick up my kids from school. They left the refrigerator in pieces inside and outside of my house. Previously we have had refrigerators delivered and installed by BestBuy that took hades. The delivery/install drivers were poorly trained and did not have the proper equipment to maneuver the refrigerator around a corner into my kitchen. This caused scuffs on the outside edges of the refrigerator and scratches on my concrete steps going into my kitchen. I called customer service after picking up my kids from school asking for their help in getting the staff back here to complete the installation. The customer service agent said they could reschedule for another day with a $65 fee. The customer service rep also said that the 9am to 1pm time frame was for the delivery to arrive, and that installation could take 45 minutes to an hour. I asked for the fee to be waived but they refused. I then asked to speak to a manager. I then spoke with Veronica who informed me that she was aware of my situation and that she listened to my previous calls regarding the scheduling of my appointment. At no time was I informed or aware that Johnnies Appliances was recording my call, THIS IS ILLEGIAL IN CALIFORNIA. Veronica also said it would be a $65 fee to reschedule and finish the installation. I asked her to wave the fee, but she refused. I also asked her to raise this issue with her manager or the Owner. Veronica called me back later this same afternoon and said the Owner now wants to charge a $200 fee to reschedule the installation which I refused. I told Veronica that I was missing screws for the door hinges, but she denied that her staff had them. I ended up having to go purchase my own screws to complete the installation myself. I would not recommend anyone use this business for delivery or installation of appliances, their delivery drivers are not trained enough and do not have the correct equipment to move and install appliances. Customer service illegally records your calls without any notification, and their customer service is unwilling to take the necessary steps to fix a situation that they caused. I am in the process of filing a complaint with Maytag as Johnnies Appliances is a distributor for them. read more

A little disappointed in Johnnie's today. I have purchased from them before and have hired them for service and had an excellent experience. Decided to go back to them to buy a fridge today and arrived to the store about 7 minutes before 6pm and doors were already closed and locked, lights were off. If you're a business establishment that advertises a time then you should be open until that time, which stated 6pm. There is nowhere that states they are closed at 5:30pm M-F. The sign on door even says 6pm except Saturday and Sundays. We saw a light in the back office through the door and even tried to knock, but was just ignored. In my book, it was worth the 1 hour drive during traffic hour but definitely not this time. Giving the extra star for the previous time I had great encounters. read more

Elderly woman I help take care of had an issue with the stove, where the burner wouldnt stop clicking. Called johnnies appliances and they were incredibly helpful, had us call the gas department to turn off the gas, then they sent Martin out next day. Turns out 3/4 valves were leaking ( it was a very old stove top ), they helped us get it replaced incredibly fast. Walked us through the process, and explained everything in detail so that everyone was reassured and calm. 10/10 would recommend this company for all appliances repairs. Oh added bonus, we have a super old oven that locked on us, they were able to fix that too! Everytime I called to check in with johnnies they had already filed and sent off the appropriate paperwork and correspondences. Or if something was in the works they would give me an ETA and sure enough whenever I would check back it would be done. I had 2 issues with my refrigerator, ice maker not making ice and a water leak inside my fridge. I was debating on replacing the entire unit and having it repaired, so I reached out to this store for a quote. They explained the diagnosis charge and that process which is pretty typical, so I hired them to come out since they're in the same city and wanted to support local businesses. Tech came out as scheduled and finished his diagnosis. He was confident on what repairs were needed and quoted me an additional $350 or so to order parts and fix. Still less than a new fridge and he was confident in what repairs were needed, so I decided to go ahead with repairs. He came back to fix a week or so later, repaired and was done. He said it would start making ice about 24 hours later. Waited 6 days and no ice, and fridge began to leak again. I called the tech directly but he never responded, so I called the store. The ladies in the office were nice and responsive. On the 7th day, fridge all of a sudden started to make ice but was still spotty. Tech came out and re diagnosed and said that I needed an additional part. I wasn't happy since I paid to have it properly diagnosed before I committed with repairing it but thought it happens and can't be that much more so I agreed to order the other part. The receptionist calls back and said that the part I needed was almost $300 and labor would be free, however, there is no eta on part. It could take weeks or possibly months. Now I'm into this $1000 fridge to tune of about $600 in repairs and both issues are still failing. Not to mention no idea when part would be available. I called and asked if the manager could call me back to discuss options but he never called back. After several calls and a couple of weeks, I got fed up with the entire process and called them to cancel the second part I needed. Im giving them 2 stars because the ladies in the office did their best and were doing as instructed but 2 months later I have a fridge that has the same 2 issues and about $500 thrown away. I see overall good ratings on yelp so maybe my experience was unique but still overall a bad experience. read more

I had service call from Johnnie's on a washing machine that was leaking water from the bottom of the machine. my service person, Desi, called 20 minutes prior to let me know he was on the way. I am handicapped and unable to get up which I explained to Desi when he arrived. He said, no problem and asked where the machine was. After a checking out the machine he came back out to the living room where I was and showed me a video he took of the problem. I thought that was really thoughtful since I was not able to get to the washer. Turns out the pan was cracked and any water in the machine would literally just fall right out. We purchased the machine used six years ago. He explained it would cost more to fix than it was worth or more expensive than another machine would cost. I asked him if I could talk to someone at the shop to see what other machines they had. He explained that they would contact me after he let them know how the service call went. Before Desi left he wanted to make sure he cleaned up any water that leaked out while he was testing the machine. There were a couple of towels near the machine and he took the time to completely clean the area of any water. Fantastic, kind, friendly and attentive service! Highly recommended! read more
