We have this game from the late 80s/early 90s that comes with a speaker box that announces parts of the game and we were so saddened when it started malfunctioning. After a recent loss in the family, we felt like one more loss was too much...even if it was just "Mall Madness". Well, John magically fixed it and everyone in the family is SO happy. Our company uses Nic's vacuums as a go to to fix the Dysons we use in our restaurants. I recently went to go pick one up we had dropped off. When I came to the door it was locked, and there was a sign on the door that said they had "stepped out but would be right back" with a phone number listed. Which I completely understood, this is not a big corporation but a family owned business that would remind you of a place you would stroll by in the 1950's. I think there are only 2 maybe 3 running this place. On this particular day I was in a bit of a hurry and could not wait long. I hesitated but wound up choosing to call the number. A gentleman answered and asked me if I was picking up or dropping off, when I told him picking up, I mentioned that I would come back the next day because I was on a time crunch, he stopped me and said "I can be there in 5 mins, I'm just down the street". He indeed was back just moments later and was the NICEST person. I was in and out. Not only that, but the price they charged to return our Dyson back to us looking brand spanking new and running like a champ was amazing. This is one of those places that you never need until it's too late. I'm so glad to have Nic's vacuum in town. My girl Dyson wasn't feeling too well - she wasn't sucking but she kind of sucked and wasn't working right. Took her in and got her back a couple days later all clean and fresh and working better than ever. Turns out something was jammed in the reach wand. Super friendly and nice service. Gave me great maintenance tips. A great business here in town. Will come back but I hope I don't have to anytime soon. But definitely will if I need a vacuum or small appliance assistance. Parking can kind of be a challenge on Del Mar but there is plenty of parking at the library. read more

First of all, I believe Jean Luis and his wife Claudia were born with kind hearts and exemplify outstanding customer service. Second, they listen understand your needs or household appliance issues before they make recommendations. Third, Nic's sells products you are wowed with and I find myself shaking my head: Why didn't I go to them for my appliance needs sooner? Because Jean Luis was everyone's go to guy for repairs and I had serious sticker shock at the high end vacuums, etc. Bottom line: I think differently today. I absolutely love the Nellie rechargeable mop and I'm blown away by the power of the Miele broom and attachments. In just 15 minutes I was done with the entire floor space in a 1700 square foot home. This lightweight, versatile machine is perfect for homes with zero carpet! I'm challenged with new gadgets to say the least! Drove all the way up to Nic's from San Diego to have him evaluate and repair 7 old/antique lamps because we trust him. He had them done in one day!!! What an honest, good guy. Some of them, he just checked out and said they didn't need anything. Now he could have replaced all of the electrical parts and charged accordingly right? Carpet installers broke my vacuum cleaner while cleaning up during my carpet installation: I dropped my Dyson off at Nics today- they are a service center for Dyson vacuum cleaners. Cleaner was clogged and needed a service. I had contacted Dyson and was told it would take 7 days to repair. When I got to Nics around three pm, I asked about purchasing a cheap vacuum cleaner to get me through the week. The guy there asked me when I needed the vacuum cleaner back. I said, "as soon as possible- my house is covered in carpet fibers and dog hair". They made sure my cleaner was fixed before closing at six o'clock. Wow - what a great service!! Nics's is great! I brought in five of my best knives - Wusthof- to sharpen. These are very high end, expensive knives. Nic did an amazing job. My knives feel like they are brand new. Nic even fixed the tip of my carving knife and did not even charge me. I have brought in a few small appliances over the years and Nic can fix anything! Again, his prices are low. I recently had an experience that was less than satisfactory at nicks vacuum. He took roughly 5 days to repair my vacuum, after assuring me that he would contact me the day after I dropped it off to give me a diagnosis and a price. It was only when I stopped in his shop that he acknowledged he hadn't even looked at it yet and once he quoted me a price I asked him if he would work with me on the price since everything had happened as it did. He agreed to lower the price however upon reviewing my bank account I noticed he did not reduce the price and when I called him back to discuss it he was adamant that he never said that. I had a warranty repair for my Dyson and was referred ti Nic's by a Dyson rep. All I can say it that this is probably the BEST vacuum and small appliance repair shop in S OC. I dropped off my device and was helped by a wonderful man, I believe his name is Juan or John. He was very professional and was glad to repair my Dyson, he kept me up to date as for as how long it would take and even when we ran into a shipping issue with the part, he was kind enough to lend me one of his units until mine was fixed. I've walked by this storefront a million times but when my vacuum broke down, I wasn't sure where to get it fixed, or if I should just buy a new one. SO glad I went to Nic's. Easy peasy. Price was more than fair, and the vacuum seems to be back to new. (I've only used it for a few seconds to test it, but it was great. I'll update the review if there are any issues but I have no doubt that Nic's would make it right if there were any problems.) A few weeks ago I was on Del Mar and dropped by Nic's and met the owner, Jean. My 7-year old Dyson had been seriously losing suction, even though I had it serviced about a year ago. Jean showed me several Miele models and suggested that the best one for me, the S 8 HomeCare, would be in later that week. His pricing was below Amazon's and he provides a one-year free service as well. I told him that I was sold. The S8 is amazing, with much more suction than the Dyson.
