    Half off!

Stopped in for fall clean-up bags and checked on kitchen ranges. Was just reminded that I wouldn't make a major purchase here bc even the self-check out is annoying. Put in my email as it asked for and it forwarded to another screen asking for my email- Yet, I do have an online account!? So how bad is this so-called rewards program that doesn't recognize my email or my phone number... Heading to another location, from which I will undoubtedly purchase my kitchen range.

Update on the update....finally got a hold of someone who was willing to help me out since I received the bill for the bricks but still don't have the product ‍. I was once again promised to get the delivery and I got it... Too bad the driver and his partner took little care as to what they were doing and just plopped the pallets on my patio blocking the door. Instead of neatly putting them next to each other so I can actually use the door. This will be the first and last time I will ever use lowes...

We (by saying we I mean my husband) have been doing some what I consider major work on our house. New flooring and stairs throughout the downstairs. After ordering the flooring online (too big of an order to just pick up at the store) it was delivered the day promised. Since then we have made numerous trips to Loews for various items needed to complete the project. We also had to return some of the items ordered online. So far all of this has gone smoothly except a slight glitch with the return that was resolved while we were there. All materials have been good quality and reasonably priced. This Loews location has also been helpful in figuring out some of our needs. 2021-146

I've began shopping regularly at this Lowe's around seven years ago. I remodeled the kitchen and bathroom after buying my house in "as is condition" (i. e. Terrible condition, or back to the 1960's condition). I don't give a crap about the house, just want to retire and move to Florida condition. I had excellent service from the Lowe's folks who helped me choose appliances, fixtures, lighting, flooring, etc. With their design expertise, all of the new pieces came together beautifully. I still get compliments on how lovely and modern my house looks. Nobody even remembers the old folks who moved to Florida! I'm in Lowe's less frequently as compared to those days. Yet, I go back often for some gadget or another. At times they are very busy and it can take time to find help. I've learned to be patient. I've learned to shop at less busy times. When you ask? My secret! I like you fellow Yelp friend, but it's all about boundaries in a good relationship. Some Dr. Phil for ya. And I've learned a lot about various home problems and how to resolve them from some very knowledgeable employees. Most are friendly and go out of the way to make sure you find what you need for your project. I'm thankful for not having to buy items that they knew would not work. "Wear and tear" over time (nurses push hand-washing can't fault me for over use) has led to the development of leaky bathroom faucets. Lucky for me, Lowe's carried the Delta brand faucet repair part (stem) that works perfectly with the original Delta faucets. Lowe's sells the item for $15.98. Whereas Delta sells the exact same item for $31.20 on their website. Way to go Lowe's! Half the cost. Best thing- I could buy the replacement part for a fraction of the cost of a whole new faucet that would run $200 plus. Ironically, Delta no longer makes that particular model faucet but Lowe's is still selling the original Delta faucet I bought years ago. This store is doing a good job. Customer service plus keeping prices "low" - it's Lowe's - lives up to its name. But how Lowe can you go?!

This is my local go to store for just about anything home improvement related. I go here for things like yard and landscaping items, tools, home repair items, hardware, etc. Their phone app is great for finding what you are looking for. The app tells you if they have the item in stock and what aisle and bin location to find it. And if you can't find the item, their helpful employees will go searching for it. Sometimes items are on the top shelf where excess stock is stored or items may have just arrived and are still on their loading dock. If their computers say something in stock but not on the shelves, it may take a few minutes but they will find it. Their regular prices are very competitive and they do have good sales. On top of that, if you use their Lowes store credit card to pay, you always get an additional 5% off your purchase. I have had to make returns occasionally because of various reasons such as too many of an item purchased or an item wasn't quite right for my project or on rare occasions, factory defective merchandise. I have never had a problem with returns. This store seems to be well managed.

He came out a few weeks ago to fix my basement toilet. He told me it was not up to code and he said that's why it wasn't working. He worked for about an hour and a half installing a vent for our pump toilet system. I never saw him do anything but install the vent. He never looked at the pump system at all. And obviously that was the problem. But he said it was fixed and I paid well over $600. Being a basement toilet, it wasn't used much, so several days later I discovered it still was not working. I called and they sent the same guy to fix it properly. He couldn't have complained more about actually having to finishing the job this time. He actually said to me, "are you on some kind of medication or something?" blaming me for the job he never fixed the first time. He said that I was to blame for the pipes being clogged. When I asked him, are you saying that I, using it at most three times since you were here, am responsible for clogging the pipes? He paused for about 5 seconds and then said "yes". I know he never really checked things properly the first time, because I was checking on what he was doing. I called and left a message with the owner and of course he couldn't bother to respond to me, a customer... and on top of all else, the plumber started raising his voice at me. He obviously was caught lying regarding even looking for any other reason than the vent issue as to why it wasn't working. When I spoke to the plumbing manager, he told me that they have been in business 100 years? How did that help me?? The guy that was in my house, should not be anywhere near the home owner. I did find someone that fixed it. Will never go near Ed Youngs again.

However I have found myself here twice in the past week. The first time was to try to find pruners that can be used standing. While we were not able to find those, sadly, the owner (I think) and his employee went out of their way to see how they could help me. Then, a few days later, I find myself on a mission to find a certain kind of plant food. I had already checked at Home Depot while buying bird seed, but they had not had it come in for over a year and were not sure when it was coming in. I called Walmart, Loews, and two garden stores in the area too. They did not have any in stock either. On a whim I stopped in here again, asked the employee if they had it, he took me to the aisle and there it was!! I scooped up the two boxes they had. This store looks small from the outside, but it is quite large once inside. It is next to and connected to the Schuele Paint Store, more or else on the corner of Summer and Main. Rather than travel to the suburbs, I will go here first now, they are helpful, pleasant, local and easy to get to.

After researching online we discovered that Valu had the one we wanted. We were greeted warmly at the door by both the cashier and a gentleman asking if we needed help, though not in a pushy way. Once we checked it out and decided on our purchase we were able to get an employee right away to go to the back to bring it out for us. They wheeled it up to the cashier for us and then loaded it into our car. Quick and easy. If they carried more items I needed I'd shop there more often. 21-3

That dreaded feeling I'm going to walk the long aisles, up and down, and still not finding the specific thing I need. Exhausted, like I just went to the gym type of feeling. Is not the feeling I get when I enter a Valu home center. I like going there because it's a midsize hardware store, easy to find what you need, very decent prices (especially if you enroll in their rewards program) and best of all their really is "customer service." Today, like many days before when I entered the store, a friendly employee was quick to greet me and asked me if they could help to find me what I'm looking for. When I'm so pressed for time, this means a lot to me. I often find the very thing I came to the store for, but because I'm not scouring through a humongous store, I end up having a few minutes to browse for other things that I might want to buy in the future. Now I have my eyes set on LED lighting for under the kitchen cabinets and an American Standard toilet. Exciting stuff!! Maybe Santa will bring me these goodies? I've been a very good girl this year. Funny thing, five years ago I bought a bookshelf at this very store that I really grown to appreciate use in my home office. Having moved to a new house recently, I thought it would be nice to have one more bookshelf to make a pair. One would not expect to buy furniture in a hardware store, but surprisingly Valu has a great selection of affordable and stylish wood furniture. The furniture brand name is Sauder. Valu sells this brand a few dollars cheaper than if you bought it directly from Sauder on their website. The store manager Joe, was very pleasant and efficient. He sweetened the deal by giving me a discount on the floor model and setting up delivery and a decent price. I couldn't be happier! Truly, the customer service is golden. It's what make me a repeat and happy customer. Plus, Valu is a family business. Not a publically traded company. They have thirty plus stores in New York and Pennsylvania. I'd much rather support a family business.
