I've been going to this Lowe's for close to 20 years and overall I think it's a good store. Every now and then I run into a "that's not my job" type mentality with one of the employees however, that's rare. I usually have a pleasant experience when I need help however, it is rare that I need help. I usually know what I need, go in and grab it, use self checkout and go. The one thing they can never seem to get right is the online order pickups. I have never had a good experience at this location with picking up an online order. Every time I show up to pick up an order I have to wait and usually hunt someone down for help. The people at the returns desk, right in front of the pickup area, are usually no help with what's going on. I go to other Lowe's and this doesn't seem to happen. read more

Last Thursday I bought 10 boxes of ceramic tiles to complete a bathroom remodel job. Store employee ASHER helped me find the boxes needed, as there weren't many left. He was so helpful, loading the heavy boxes into my cart, ringing up the price, informed me the product was discounted and loaded all into my truck. He was so pleasant and a delight to work with. He also assured me that if any tiles didn't work out I could bring them back. Unfortunately I did have to bring 4 boxes back after examining them and finding them chipped, flawed and having already been returned by a previous customer. Returning them was no problem at all and customer service desk personnel were very helpful. I later found enough tiles at another Lowes and completed my project. I live local to this Lowe's location and have a Lowe's credit card. It is incredibly frustrating to find any sort of help throughout the store. The employees working the customer service desk are not helpful when working a return (with receipt and credit card) they were unable to find the item. Tried to return a BBQ i bought through instacart. Gave me a hard time because I only had instacart receipt instead of physical receipt. They said there was no way they could help me or even give me store credit with proof of actual purchase in hand! I know people go in there all the time without receipts and they just take their id and issue refund or store credit. I dont know if they thought i stole it or something but the customer service was terrible. I even said store credit is ok since I had to pick up a few things anyway. They bounced back and forth saying their store policy on the wall had not been updated yet. Smells discriminatory to me. Ended that instacart gave me full refund and asked me to donate the grill. Y'all know I can't resist a Lowe's Garden Center. If I'm in the area I'm stopping just to see what they have in hopes of finding a gem. This location didn't have much for me. They have a good variety of house plants and succulents but like most big box stores they aren't well taken care of. I did buy a caladium. The price was right and the flower was of the variety I didn't have already. They didn't have any fruit trees. My mom was looking for them for my dad. He had seen some at another location and she wanted to get for him but I guess not. I will stop by another time to see what's new when I'm the area. We live out of town and wanted to help my mom with a big project. To save time and have the materials onsite, we requested a $75 delivery from Lowe's Matthews. They delivered 30% of the 2x4x8 in unusable condition, either severely damaged or warped. We had to waste our time taking material back to the store only to have Brian the store manager tell us that with 45 pieces this is a bulk pull, if we didn't want damage pieces, then we should've went and pulled it ourselves, individually one by one. Honestly, if they don't care about what they're delivering and wasting the time of their customers, they should just close the store or fire managers that don't care. On top of that we had to go through hoops just to get a store credit from the returned material since we originally purchased the through a six month no interest plan. They wanted to give us a hard time about returning the money to a card versus store credit. Apparently they've started a new pilot program where they don't give store credit anymore but yet it's right there as soon as you walk in the door on the return policy on the wall, as well as every register at the return register that there is store credit. Avoid buying appliances here. Patterns of deceptive and unethical sales practice. They tell you a delivery date to lock you in. Only to have their delivery provider tell you they can't make that date and push you weeks back. Followed by poor customer service and deceptive behavior to try and get you off the phone. This time (the 3rd time) was the final straw. We ordered an oven on 11/18 and needed it prior to Thanksgiving. Ours died on the same day. We had another oven lined up at Queen City with guaranteed delivery in time. We opted for Lowes since the price was better and Sharon told us it would be delivered on 11/21 or 22 at the latest. The website also showed a delivery date of 11/21 had we ordered online. After asking several times if this would be the date and being told yes. We placed our order. 11/21 we got a text from the delivery service asking us to set up a time for 11/28. A week after the expected date. They claim the delivery was for a store pick up and not from the warehouse. They wouldn't be able to get there to pick it up in time. Causing a dely. After several calls they pushed us off to the store. We were transferred to appliances. They proceeded to tell us we didn't have an order. Then they found it and said we didn't pay for delivery. All to try and get us off the phone. Odd that a delivery service would contact us if we hadn't. It was on our receipt. Once we told them that. We were put on hold and another appliance employee (Sharon) came on the line. She stated we didn't have an order under our phone number, and we should check our card to see if a charge was processed. Odd the person before her found it. Only after we told her she was the one that processed the order, did she magically find it and that we paid for delivery. She was rather rude and could care less about the situation we were in due to her saying it would be delivered on time. "I can't help that they can't make the delivery. I told them the date. If they can't make it, it's on them not me." Sorry but you told us that date would be fine. 20 people coming for Thanksgiving and no oven. We were offered no help and told delivery was a different company. This is Lowe's standard pass off. They already have your money, so they don't care if the 3rd party deliver takes the hit. I spoke with the store manager Brian and another manager Chris in person at the store. Chris said it's a gas range and we've had issues getting install people in a timely manner. I asked if this was a new development and was told no. I asked why would your employee not tell us this could be an issue. She said they do not guarantee a delivery date. When told that's not what happened. I was told that it would get investigated and I'd get a call back that same day. 5 hours later no call back. Only after I called did Chris tell me that the oven was in the store and there was nothing they could do because the needed a tech to install a gas range. I was welcome to pick it up and install it myself. Why should I have to mess with gas lines in my home?! Now I have to pick it up and pay an appliance repair man to install at a ridiculous price due to short notice. Costing me more money. This is the 3rd time we've placed an appliance order to have this delivery game played. The store doesn't care and will not do anything once they get your money. They just blame the 3rd party. I'm sorry but your website showed a date that it would be delivered. Your salesperson said the same date. You should honor your advertisement. If you can't guarantee the date, then tell people. DO NOT USE FOR HOME RENOVATION. Decided to use Lowes for a kitchen renovation. We thought to use a big name that would be reliable. WRONG. It took almost 7 months and was still not completed due to a breakdown in communication between the store who designed and ordered, the manufacturer and the installers. I see another customer who experienced something similar. It's a bad operation and no one at the top is addressing it. I wrote the Pres & CEO, Marvin Ellison three times on three different occasions throughout the process only for his team to forward to the same person in customer relations. All he did was make phone calls but the results were the same. Never a word from anyone in Sr. Management after spending tens of thousands of dollars at their store. I guess that's nothing. Read on... When all the cabinets were delivered they sat in my living room for 2 weeks before I could reach anyone who would return my call to finally start installing. Cabinets were not measured correctly. We had one cabinet so high above the stove that even the installer said we would have grease all over our cabinets within a year because the hood vent would be too high to vent out properly; it wasn't to code, so weeks go by for that cabinet to be reordered. We could see it was oddly high. We had another cabinet that didn't fit next to the wall oven so more weeks for that to be reordered. When it finally arrived it was the wrong color! so we wait again...time off from work and aggravation constantly for these unacceptable errors. There was a cabinet over the refrigerator that was not right so weeks again for that replacement. This process went on for months. Molding that never arrived to finish off around the cabinets. The installers write a report after each visit to order what's needed and something goes awry afterwards. Cancelled appointments now we're in November and my kitchen was still not completed so no Thanksgiving at my house. By Christmas we still had no countertops so all this time was just the cabinets. Lowes had a $1500 deposit for the countertops because of some 30% off special they had back in June/July so we put money down. Lowes told us it would be another 6 weeks for the counters to be cut and installed. I chose the material in July!! Then after we could do the backsplash! This is where we said no more. We asked for our deposit back which took several weeks for "review". Once all the cabinets were in place and completed sometime in December we decided to find another local small company to do the countertops. We used the app Thumbtack and found Granite Palace who installed the countertops in less than a week and they are beautiful! They gave me the address to the warehouse where all the slabs are. Lowe's has just those small samples at their store AND they were less than half of what Lowe's charged. I was so happy we decided to use someone else. My kitchen was finally done in January 2024 from June 2023. Never again. read more

This is actually not for this specific store but for the company itself. Ever since they got new CEO and paired up with Angi which was called different before bankruptcy their installation became not professional at all. Complete breakdown in communication between Lowe's, Angi, and their handymen, no show appointments, disrespect for customers property, and outright lie about what they do to fix the problem. I paid almost $500 for toilet and installation, got 4 no shows, water damage in my bathroom as a result of faulty installation plus damaged hardwood floor because an installer just dragged that toilet all over the floor. Told me that "this is two people job but they sent me alone" and " it's not my job to fix water damage - call your plumber". Really? That was result of your previous installer faulty job! Multiple calls to Angi and Lowe's installation department gave me headaches because these paper pushers only goal us to protect their jobs not customers interests. No manager called me about my complaints and compensation. The only one was installers' manager who was surprised to find out that his supposedly working in my house installer did not even show up but requested additional 4 hours for "fix the problem ". I was told that they have notes in my file about Lowe's managers calling me (false!), about me refusing compensation (false again!), and then offered me meager $100 Lowe's gift card for inconvenience?! Tried to resolve it through the local Lowe's store but was referred to Lowe's installation department back. I guess I have to go to the media now and get my insurance company and a lawyer involved. I made multiple attempts to work with them peacefully for a month with no resolution. I've been their customer for over 20 years and will never go there again! It's Lowe's - what do you expect? Service has been decent, but sometimes I get opinions from their "experts" I know are inaccurate, which is a bit discouraging. In fact, I was sold a lawnmower that the sales guy said "buy this one if you want a rear wheel drive...blah blah" - so I did, that's what I wanted, a rear-wheel drive mower. Get 'er home? it's front wheel drive. I gave it the ole' college try, but my lawn has hills, and front wheel drive mowers just don't cut it on the hills. So redeemingly enough (redeemingly - I don't think that's a word, but I digress) I took it back after 3 or 4 mows. It's a dirty, used mower, and they took it back, no questions asked. So a couple of things to point out. The guys who came out to install my fence were awesome. The manager who I brought the fence back to was great. Denise did all she could do. My issue is the project specialist and the fence that was priced out for me. I asked the guy to come out and he measured, priced it out. A pretty substantial investment but thats fine. I understand. Gotta pay for it all upfront... Fine no big deal. Ask for my military discount and the project specialist says no cant do that... Its a package deal. I am giving you the best price. Ok fine. 3 months go by and 3 phone calls from Lowes corporate to update me that my fence is finally in... Guys come out and install fence(Did awesome job) And bring me around to the front of my house where I have 50 slats that fit in the middle of the fences, 3 bags of cement, and 3 pole. I call Lowes back and speak to the gentleman I had bought it from. He tells me that they always buy extra... I get buying an extra section but I had enough slats for 40 feet of fence. Ridiculous. So I ask if I can bring it back. He says no but we will be glad to come by and pick it up.... No thanks... I get a phone call from Lowes corporate asking how it went. Let them know the good and bad things that happened. They connected me with the MOD Denise. She is upfront with me and says if its a package deal then I cant give you credit. OK cool. I take it up there and she tells me the same story. Ok cool. Here is my thing. Why do I have all of that extra supplies???? Someone does not know how to price/order. Purchased Halloween decorations just before Halloween. Tried to return after the holiday because items were purchased and a different location and we were traveling for two weeks. Did not realize until after attempting to use items that they were broken. When trying to return and explaining the items did not work, Lowe's informed me that they cannot except holiday items after the holiday. They were not willing to issue a store credit or process a return. I am now stuck with broken items that I paid close to full price for. Buyer beware and don't expect friendly service. Employee at customer service was rude, unprofessional, and robotic. I've gone to this store for my home-improvement needs and some paint. The store is always clean and pretty organized (similarly to their competition across the way). This is a pretty busy location and it is set back some in the shopping center. You can easily spot it off of Independence, but getting there is another story. Sycamore Commons shares an intersection with the Independence/HWY51 ramp so sometimes the intersection can be a pain in the butt. And once you get in theres a couple of 4-way stop intersections in the parking lot that shows NC drivers in-ability to negotiate intersections that don't have traffic lights. I digress... the people that work here are pretty friendly and I haven't really had a bad experience with Lowes yet. I'm still a fan of their "Lowes...T" price adds where various objects form a "T" over the Lowes sign. I'm just geeky like that. read more

Terrible customer service and store credit policy. I just moved to NC from VA and had a store credit gift card to use ($26). This Lowe's would not let me use the store credit because it was somehow linked to my Virginia drivers license, and now that I have a NC license, they would not accept store credit gift card. It's a bizarre policy, and now there's no way for me to reclaim the store credit. Customer service could not provide an explanation as to why store credit is linked to drivers license. The Worst Customer Service EVER!! I ordered a kitchen-full of appliances from this store and was told they would be delivered in three weeks. Even though that sounded like a HUGE amount to lead time, I said O.K. As time went on, I never heard a thing from them about when the delivery would be, and I had the delivery date IN WRITING, so I thought everything was happening as it should. Weirdly, I never heard anything more from ANYONE at Lowe's, so I got a sinking feeling. After waiting three weeks, the day before delivery I went to the store to find out the time it was going to happen, and was told they would not be delivered for TWO MORE WEEKS!! I couldn't believe it. The people in the store were NO help at all. They act as if they didn't have a phone or a computer to contact anyone who knew anything. And of course, I was told that there was absolutely nothing that can be done to help me. The manager said they were 'in transit,' but said there was no way to know where they were. ARE YOU KIDDING? I wish I had read Michael R's review before I ordered from them. Lowe's delivery system is broken, or maybe has never existed, but this is totally unacceptable. The attitude of the employees is "hey, our hands are tied!! And, we got your money so why should we care?" Did an online order with the pick up in store option. It was probably with 15 minutes of placing my order that I was emailed and notified that my order was ready to be picked up. When I got there I headed over to the service desk. The desk was busy, probably 3 or 4 people in line and only one woman working at a register and another doing something else behind the desk who eventually opened a second register/window to help with the line. When it was finally my turn, I walked up the woman started looking up my order and in the middle of it all got sidetracked at least 2 or 3 times with a question or answering the phone. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. If it is my turn, that person on the phone should still technically be AFTER me in line if the phone rings after I'm already at the desk. Finish my transaction and then deal with the customer on the phone or answering other associates' questions. I was a fan of the ordering online and picking up the store - but they certainly could do better to streamline the process of picking it up once you get to the store. I could see certain days when the service desk is busy that it would be quicker to just find the item in the store and check out than the time it could take you to wait. read more

Here's my little tirade: I called to see if they had a mattress they stock out on display so we could come a try it out. Myself, my husband and our toddler drove over 20 minutes because the Customer Service lady said yes, we do have them on display and you can check them out. Of course, they did not in have a single mattress on display including the one I was interested in. I went to their Customer Service desk and the very same Customer Service lady was there to receive my complaint! I explained that we drove a fair distance to get there and that there were, in fact, no mattresses on display despite what I was told. Customer Service lady told me she meant I could buy the mattress and take it home to check it out. Now, nobody means that if they ask if they can come check out a mattress at a store but even it was a misunderstanding, she couldn't care less that we were inconvenienced because of her odd thought process. And she did not afford my family a single apology. It's really the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Not only is this location convenient for folks living in Matthews, but the staff is worth coming back for. The store is kept clean and organized and 9 times out of 10 the staff is around and willing and able to help. Whether you're coming in to find something you have no idea about or just need a second opinion, the employees will walk you through what you need to know. We've most recently frequented the paint section as we've been preparing a nursery. Each time we went in, whether it was to find swatches, ask basic questions like whether we really needed primer, or get an estimate on how much paint we need for the nom-accent walls, the folks at the paint desk were patient and were able to answer all of our questions so that we would understand them so that we understood what we were doing. The staff alone makes Lowes better than other hardware stores, in my opinion. read more

Do not use this store for any deliveries. Requested a large delivery for Friday. Was never contacted and checked email.to see that they set the delivery for the following Wednesday. I needed the material here for the weekend. I called the delivery service 4 times through the week and they ensured me that they were working to get the issue resolved and that someone at this store would.contact me later that day. This was the same answer I received after my call Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday calls I had to make to follow up. I was then assured that my material would be delivered on Saturday between 12-2pm. At 230pm I had not either received a call or my delivery. I again contacted the delivery center and was told that the delivery was removed from the truck and rescheduled for Sunday. At this point I requested to speak to a manager. I spoke with a manager and was ENSURED that I would receive my delivery 1st thing Sunday morning and would receive a call from the store when the truck left the store. Never received a call, and at 1030am on Sunday still had not received my delivery. I once again at to take it upon myself to call and I was informed that the truck was delayed. It's now noon and still no delivery on Sunday. I will never use this store or lowes again. Complete lack of care for any customer service. Horrible. read more

This place is dangerous as a home owner. You go in for one thing....and $300 later...you have lots of impulse buys if you arent careful. Store is always clean and well stocked. The employees ask me at least once a visit if they can help me....and they usually can. I find it nice that almost every employee can tell you which aisle the item is on. They must be required to memorize these things and pass a quiz or something. My largest purchase from Lowes were Pella Windows for my entire house. I LOVE MY ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS! Lowes offers installation....but i installed them myself and saved thousands. I love the home and garden center....i usually get most of my spring/summer foliage from Lowes. They have a wide variety of plants, evergreens, pots, soil, mulch, gardening tools. etc. They have a no-fuss return policy as long as you have your receipt. The largest item i returned was a lawnmower. I bought one as a replacement for the one i had.. .and when i used it..I Hated it. I tried something different than what i normally used. I took it back and it still had a little gas in it. They refunded my money with no questions asked and no pressure to buy a different mower. All in all, I LOVE LOWES ..... almost too much. read more

I always shop the Matthews Lowe's store and most of the time everyone is very helpful. Unfortunately this afternoon was not one of those times. I was in need of materials for a deck I'm building. One item that i needed was (24) 80lb bags of concrete. When I asked a fella there if he could get his fork lift to bring the pallet out to my truck he went off and helped someone else. After waiting around for a while, I loaded 14 bags onto a cart and then loaded them in my truck by myself. when I went back in to get some lumber I saw the kid and said "hey what happened to you"? He said "oh I forgot". I went to see a manager (who was called) but never showed up. I'm 68 years old and loading the concrete wasn't something I'd rather do, especially when I know it can be done easier off of a fork lift. Anyway I love your store but I think I will take a sabbatical from it for awhile and spend my money elsewhere. I'm sure I'll be back but every now and then when employees get complacent you need to go somewhere where they want to earn your business. read more

This is a 10,000 item with installation, and they forgot to enter me into there system for a call, not once but twice. This is the third time I'm trying to get some help. I'm getting the runaround, I've talked to four people so far and each are not the right one to talk to ... Tom or Scott they say, okay then let them know please ... okay each time. Someone will get back to you they say, nope I called. Then the third time someone did, but it wasn't Tom or Scott. Everyone was nice to me on the phone, but the last lady I talked to was very rude.... If they can get back to me to set a time, how are they going to be doing the job??? its very very sad. read more
