DR. MAR'S OFFICE IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF EVERY BAD EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. I love everyone there--Dr. Mar, Patty, Thao, Trish, and Erica are so fun, sweet, wonderful, amazing, awesome... I don't have enough good adjectives and I'm too lazy to look it up in an online thesaurus right now, but trust me, it's TOTALLY true! Come on, the fact that I KNEW THEIR NAMES and am writing the longest Yelp review in the world shows how much I like them! I have referred friends who have referred friends who have referred friends, I swear between this little Dr. Mar cult we've started we paid for all that new furniture in the adorable new office! But before you go thinking they overcharged to pay for their beautiful new facility, here's the deal--they don't and still do amazing work--I've never had to dispute an amount to pay because they're on top of things in communicating with insurace, they've been super patient with my difficult teeth (I had to go try and seat the same crown I think 3 or 4 times, and each time they knew it wasn't just right so they just sent it back out to get fixed!) I've never had unresonable discomfort during or after a procedure, never doubted their diagnoses, never dreaded going back. In fact, I look forward to it! In addition to all of this, they're just really fun people! They remember tons about my friends and I and always ask how everyone's doing. I am so thankful that I found a place that I hope one day I can take my kids to so I can save them the trauma I endured and they can actually love going to the dentist while growing up! I almost didn't want to write this review because I never want it to get so big that I can't get an appointment, but they're so awesome I don't think they would even let that happen! Prior to my procedure, they had me come into the office just to review everything that would happen on the day of the dental work. When I refused he demanded to know why, and after explaining it's too expensive, he said " Well you have all those other expensive crowns and root canals, why can't you have this done?" I have never encountered such unethical, presumptuous, coercive behaviour in my life! When I made my appointment I first verified that they accept my version of Delta insurance, only to be presented after the exam with a deep cleaning (periodontal planing) plan of care demanding $300 out of pocket from me. My Delta plan clearly states that deep cleaning is fully covered, and it took 3 refusals to sign before the front office clerk finally generated a plan of care with no demand for more money from me. There are many complaints of high pressure sales tactics and outright brutality and damage while cleaning teeth from patients on Yelp, Google reviews, and elsewhere. He is NOT a periodontist and is clearly incompetent . I will never return, and will have to pay out of pocket for another new patient appointment elsewhere. Caveat emptor: buyer be ware.

He was super informative, really gentle, and extremely great about recommendations. Third they charged me for a whole mouth x-ray when I just had one and sent them copies. Didn't matter they required it (my mistake). I paid in full and they billed my insurance. My insurance only paid a small portion of their charge because of course they already paid the first dentist. They did not reimburse me even the small amount until I called and and was told I had "cheap" insurance. Oh boy, that set me off.

Concern and review pertains to quality of care by current dentist and one office staff I found highly unpleasant, unprofessional, with a dismissive tone and attitude who suggested I take a "mind over matter" framework in relation to what has now become deep pain within a tooth with a 30 plus year old crown and anchor for an equally old bridge. The dentist asked few clarifying questions about the pain and documented sensitivity, concluding no need for treatment. Dissatisfied with this limited assessment, I asked and was given 2 referrals upon request. That said, confidence level in the dentist has greatly decreased and frustration with the office staff member's attitude along with advice extending far outside her role, has left me disappointed. Even when I asked to see Dr. Chalmer's for his opinion, she quipped back her thoughts in the same dismissive tone.
